Eleanor POV

"I... I... am your mate," I murmured, breathless, my lips turning blue and almost losing air. "Gideon... please..." I whispered, tears filling my eyes.

The Alpha King's eyes fixed on me, and his expression changed instantly. At that moment, his wolf seemed to be trying to emerge. I took advantage of this moment for him to recognize me and confirm that I was telling the truth.

"It's me... I am the person you have been looking for," I murmured again, tense, while his hands still remained on my neck.

The strength of his grip lessened slightly, and I saw the internal struggle in his eyes. The wolf within him recognized the bond we had, but anger and betrayal still clouded his mind. His face was inches from mine, and I could feel his hot breath mixed with the smell of alcohol.

"Mate?" he murmured, almost inaudible, as if testing the word on his own lips.

Yes, I thought desperately. Feel our bond. Feel the truth. Time seemed suspended in the air, each second an eternity as I wait

POV ELEANOR Gideon closed his eyes, the decision weighing on his shoulders. "Eleanor, I want to believe you. But all you have done since the beginning is lie to me." He laughed sarcastically. "It's a pity we have come to this point!" he said seriously, taking the knife from the guard who stood behind him."It's not, Gideon," I whispered, my voice full of pain. "Please, trust me."He took a deep breath, opening his eyes slowly. "I should kill you now and avenge my daughter's death with my own hands, spilling your blood in front of everyone..." he murmured with a serious expression, slowly approaching me with the knife in hand. When our faces were inches apart, in a swift motion, he placed the knife to my neck and began to graze it against my skin, making a small cut. A bit of my blood trickled down the sharp blade, enough to slit my throat if he wanted."You are nothing but a pathetic traitor," he growled, his eyes filled with fury. "I took you in, protected you, and how do you repa

-----------pov eleanor**Five days later.**"Here’s your food!" the guard shouted, throwing the tray into the dungeon cell.I took a deep breath and bent down to pick up the scraps of food that had been tossed through the rusty bars. The new cell was worse than the last; they had increased security, and one of my hands was shackled in a metal cuff so I couldn’t escape. Most of the time, I stayed silent, praying this was just a nightmare. Since I was accused of murder and revealed to the Alpha King that I was his true fated mate, he hadn’t come to see me."What do you think the Alpha King will do with her?" I heard one of the guards whispering at the gate near the dungeon’s entrance. I swallowed hard and hid behind the dark walls, making no noise. All this time, I had learned to be silent. They didn’t even notice my presence. Most of the time, they thought I was asleep or passed out from weakness, unable to eat properly."I don’t know, but he’ll definitely reject her!" The other guard

You're lying to me, trying to protect that bitch!" The veins bulged on my forehead, my face red with rage. Gaby stood beside me, serious, showing no reaction as I demanded an explanation from Dr. Afonsos."Miss Baker, I'm not lying. Everything you read in the report is true," the doctor swallowed hard, looking down, unable to meet my eyes."You're lying, you bastard!" I ran towards him and started slapping him. He tried to restrain my hands, but I kept trying to kick and punch. "So everything you told me was a big lie? You killed! You killed my daughter, you piece of trash!" I screamed, trying to hit him again. To my surprise, Gaby stepped in front of me and grabbed my hand firmly."What do you think you're doing?" I growled in anger, my teeth bared and my head pounding with pain."Tell me, what will this achieve now? Will this behavior bri

Will you reject her publicly?" my Beta asked, curious, raising his eyebrows."I'm going to send her to the Vale of Dry Bones," I replied curtly, trying to compose myself."Alpha, everyone is waiting for your decision. You're sending her to the valley of the rejected, the women you've abandoned. But she's your fated mate. The bond between you will remain if you don't reject her publicly. You need to do this in front of everyone because that's what they expect of you. Eleanor has already proven she's not worthy of being your Luna," my Beta said seriously, leaning agains

The other prisoners, who were sleeping, also woke up to the noise of me being dragged out of my cell."Get up, filthy slave!" the soldier said harshly, forcing me to stand while spitting in my face.My head spun with pain and exhaustion, but I forced myself to stand. My legs were weak, almost unable to support me. The cold stone floor hurt my already injured skin, and the metallic taste of blood was still present in my mouth. The soldier, with a look of disdain, pulled the chains again, dragging me out of the cell. The other prisoners watched in silence, some with pity, others with indifference. I knew that, to them, I was just another lost soul walking towards death, like many of them before. Taking a deep breath, I tried to maintai

I held tightly to the metal bars but slipped accidentally. She looked at my hands, full of cuts and scars. I was a mess, not having bathed in over seven days, with my hair tangled and dirty with sweat. The smell of my body was intense and foul, to the point where others avoided me with disgust. I hadn't died of malnutrition because my wolf, Roxy, used her strength to heal my wounds. She was so weak from constantly giving me her energy that she was always sleeping."I'm sorry, Eleanor," she repeated, crying. "I warned you to be more careful. I tried everything to keep you alive, but you sabotaged yourself, and now, I can't do anything more for you!" Amber said seriously, wiping the tears that ran down her face."Amber... no..." **POV Eleanor**"Eleanor... I finally found you," the brown wolf communicated with me through the mental link. I noticed at least two other wolves behind him, who seemed to be under the command of this large, robust wolf."Who... who are you? And what do you want with me?" I stammered nervously, trying to buy time to think of an escape plan."First, it's nothing personal. You're just another one of my jobs. After all, I was sent to finish you off," he smiled, showing his perfectly sharp teeth. The wolf had a scar near his eye, and behind him were two gray wolves guarding the rear. If I tried to run, it would be useless; they would easily catch me. To make matters worse, my energy was depleted, and I didn't have enough strength to transform and fight them."Finish me off?..." I murmured, surprised. "Who sent you?" I asked, curious. If this was to be my end, I at least wanted to know who ordered my death. The brown wolf laughed, his paws firm and heavy. **POV Eleanor**"Now, say your last words, dear!" The brown wolf charged at me with impressive speed and dug his claws into my neck.I tried to get up, but he angrily threw me to the ground. His strength was vastly superior to mine, and no matter how much I tried to resist, it was useless. I struggled, trying to make him let go of me, but instead, he extended his claws with a fierce growl, making them even sharper. I felt the tip pressing against my neck, as if it was about to cut it and penetrate my skin."No... please, I can't die like this!" I whispered, breathless, with those claws pressing against my neck and blocking the air from entering my lungs."Are those your last words?" The wolf laughed, showing no pity. "Well... that's disappointing. I expected a bit more from you! But apparently, you're just a cowardly and weak worm who can barely defend herself. Killing you is so easy, it's boring. I can't believe I got paid a high amount just to do this!" He mocked, and I swallowed ha

**POV Eleanor**“I love you, Alpha Gideon...” I murmured nervously, those last words, and I could see the surprise in his eyes...It was brave of me to come here to set things right and stop this sudden wedding, but after hearing the words of the Moon Goddess, I couldn't just ignore it and allow him to marry another.“You only gave him a child, and that makes you think you’re special. I’m also young and healthy and can give many children to the Alpha King; he doesn’t need you and your bastard!” Lauren dared to speak again, her teeth clenched, trying to prevent our reconciliation.“No, you’re wrong. I didn’t just give the Alpha one child; I gave him two!” I responded firmly, and he looked at me, startled and frowning, not understanding what was happening. “You have a daughter, Alpha... I’m sorry for hiding this from you, but you have a daughter named Zoe. She is beautiful and healthy and blessed by the Moon Goddess, just like Noah!” I said, trying to control my tears.“Eleanor...” He w

**Alpha King's POV**It was almost eight in the morning. The maids were decorating the main courtyard while the doctor wrapped a tight bandage around my abdomen to ensure I wouldn’t start bleeding again from moving around."I'm sorry, Alpha. I'll prescribe some pain medication, but I fear it won't be enough. Unfortunately, you'll have to remain standing throughout the entire ceremony so that people won't suspect the assassination attempt," the doctor said anxiously, finishing the bandage near my chest.I just nodded while finishing putting on the black suit. When I reached for the jacket, a searing pain shot through my body, and I bit my lips, trying not to let out a groan. The bandage was so tight it intensified the pain, but I couldn't remove it as it prevented me from bleeding to death."Alpha, the bride has just arrived!" My beta informed me through the mental link.I positioned myself near the wooden altar in the central courtyard, where the maids had just finished decorating. It

**POV Eleanor**I woke up, still seeing everything around me blurry. I looked around and noticed there was a crib next to me. Noah seemed to be sleeping peacefully, and I wondered how I had ended up in this place."Awww," I groaned in pain as I tried to sit up on the bed. Ruby hadn't been able to heal me completely, and all I remembered was being chased by the guards before losing consciousness. I still didn't know how I had managed to get here. It seemed like a house hidden in the middle of the forest. I looked out the window, and there was no one in sight. Maybe I had managed to escape and made it here, but I couldn't remember. The pain in my body was intense, especially where Ruby had tried to heal my wounds. I tried to stand up, but my legs gave out, and I leaned against the wall to avoid falling. I looked around, trying to identify anything familiar. The room was simple but cozy. There was a small wooden table with some herbs and bottles, probably natural remedies. A lamp emitted

**POV King Alpha**I woke up in the palace infirmary, the pain still intense in my abdomen. My beta, Josh, was by my side, a worried expression on his face."Alpha, what happened?" he asked, helping me sit up."Eleanor... she..." I began, but the pain was too much to complete the sentence.Josh looked at me, eyes filled with understanding and sadness. "She took her revenge, didn't she?"I nodded, unable to say more. The reality of what had happened, the depth of Eleanor's hatred, everything was clear to me now. I had lost not only her trust but also any chance of redemption."I can't believe she dared to try to kill you. Luckily, she didn't hit any vital organs, and although the wound was deep, it didn't damage any of your tissues. The hardest part was stopping the bleeding and containing the hemorrhage!" my beta said worriedly, noting some information on a clipboard.I took a deep breath, trying to get up, and realized my arm was connected to a large blood bag. I tried to stand, but

**POV Alpha King**"Are you sure about what you're telling me?" I asked, raising my voice in disbelief. Even though this was the fourth time he repeated the same information, I couldn't believe Eleanor would be so stupid."Yes, Alpha," he replied, trembling with fear, worried I might blame him for not keeping an eye on her."You're telling me that, in less than a day in captivity, Eleanor tried to kill herself in the cell?" I muttered again, nervous, running my hands through my hair impatiently."Yes, Alpha. The doctor suspects that Eleanor has developed postpartum depression and that she was taking controlled medications. They found a large amount of drugs in her blood test, mostly antidepressants and long-term sleeping pills," the guard informed, handing the test results to me."It can't be... how did Eleanor develop this mental illness? She was so healthy!" I responded, throwing the papers into the fire, not wanting to see them again."The doctor said it's common for some mothers t

It was foolish of me to come here without a plan in mind, but when the Moon Goddess revealed to me that Noah was in danger, I couldn't bear to stay away."Stupid, I was so stupid!" I murmured to myself, seeing the blood trickle down my skin. "I need to find a way out of here!"I closed my eyes, trying to concentrate, and that's when a brilliant idea came to my mind.---A few hours later, I was lying on the floor, covered in blood in that dark cell. My face was pale with deep dark circles, as I saw the blood stain my dress and continue to flow."Oh my God, call a doctor! This girl is crazy!" She was smiling beautifully, and the sun lit up her green eyes, making them shine in the photo."Why? Why did this have to happen!" I shouted furiously, throwing the picture frame against the wall. The object shattered instantly, and the glass broke into thousands of pieces on the floor. Eleanor's photo was completely crumpled. Unsatisfied, I approached and started tearing it into several pieces, throwing them into the fireplace."Alpha... is everything alright?" my beta entered my office, staring at the mess I had made, and then quietly closed the door."Eleanor is different!" At six months old, she was already crawling around the house, with beautiful blue eyes like her brother's and she was extremely loving. I caressed her face and she smiled beautifully, even in her sleep."Forgive me for this, dear. I will miss you," I murmured, kissing her forehead. "Please be a good girl and grow up far from all this.
