POV Eleanor

The cold wind entered through the door, bringing with it the first flakes of the snowstorm that had started during the early hours. Amber had convinced me to wait in the room while she looked for the perfect girl for our plan. At first, I had resisted, but she managed to persuade me by reminding me of the baby. I looked out the window again; it was almost noon, and Amber still hadn’t returned. The fear that she might be caught trying to go to the human world without authorization and end up imprisoned and punished because of me tormented me.

"Aww, my dear baby, your mother is fighting so you can have a better life than I had in this palace, but it's hard. I promise I will do my best to protect you!" I murmured, caressing my belly.
