Diego's POV

I quickly drove out of the countryside, away from Ariel's house, smelling like burnt chicken, with my clothes half burnt in such a way that it seemed as if I was hastily roasted above fire. My whole body was hurting like hell, and my legs were still shaking, as if they were still subjected to electric shock. I barely got through the traffic in Central City, but at last, I made it home.

I managed to walk to my room, almost crippled by the effect of the lightning and with the way it threw me to the ground, and on getting to the standing mirror in my room, I was aghast at how my electrified hair all stood, puffy, large, and hanging everywhere, making me look like revolutionary model on a runway, showcasing a sense of fashion that will never be practiced by normal individuals.

I took a shower and came out of the bathroom, got into my pyjamas and climbed onto my bed. Thoughts of Malia filled my mind, and I couldn't fall asleep. I was nervous about her safety

Or at least I wish I told her that, cause she certainly deserved to be called that, she earned the title - a bitch. " Is everyone of the same opinion with Dr Carrie?" Valkyrie asked, still relaxing on his armchair. " Um.......... I'm sorry but Dr Carrie, if I may ask, why are we so concerned about these impurities that are spoken of? Of what effect are they to us?" I asked politely, after submerging the urge to call her a bitch right to her face. She seemed taken aback a little at first, probably surprised that I'll be so engaging on my first day at work; everyone was. " Well, these impurities are toxins in their blood which congeal during fermentation, and thus, become dangerous. It does not inherently migrate from the blood even during its industrial production into things like milk, jelly, butter, mayonnaise, or any other thing", she said. " And I believe that the reason as to why these impurities are not dangerous to us when we drink from the host body, is becaus

" Would you like a tour round the orphanage? You know, get to see the children?" father Louis asked after he signed the contract. " Don't worry, some other time", I said, not buying any motive he had. " Come on, nothing bad can come out of it, and the children are lovely, come", gesturing me to follow him. I succumbed and followed him upstairs, where the clatter of spoons, forks, and plates harmonized in a balanced lovely way with echoes of laughter, making the seemingly noisy sound to feel like music to the ears and language to the soul. There were kids everywhere around the very large round dining table. Teenagers of around fifteen years were the bigger ones there, and they were doing a fine job, chatting with each other and feeding the toddlers as they themselves ate. The semi little kids had stew spewed on their lips and chin; a vivid image of a vampire who had just drained a victim, and the stew was benevolent enough to expand it's territory, marking its boundaries o

" You moron!" she shouted and I closed my eyes, allowing her to do anything she deemed fit with me, " just bring your dirty self inside", she said and walked inside. I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't hypnotized or dreaming, because the fact that Ariel left me unpunished after making her bleed was still not settling too well with me. Like, it was unbelievable, and I wondered if she welcomed me in to deal with me in a more harsh way. I just usually thought that the sky would fall before she would consider being so merciful. I walked into the apartment and it was just like I remembered fifty years ago, not with the cushions and television I saw last time, but with the piano of centipedes and millipedes, the center table of human skeleton, the artifacts of fearful creatures, and the green fire in the fireplace which sent illuminating green light to every corner of the room. I took a seat on the familiar sofa made out of petrified sheep, where I had undid her underwear and

Ariel's POV Diego was trembling as he stood up on his feet, panting like someone who had run a marathon from Central City to New York. " Calm down Diego, calm down, your priority right now is finding her", I was even surprised that I said that, and the poor lovesick man before me nodded in affirmation like a child, obviously trying to breathe his way to calmness. " Diego, tell me, what did you see?" I asked again in a serious tone. " It was a cabin, an underground cabin. It was built like........like.........like a lab, and.............. and............", he couldn't just get the words out. I gently tapped him on his shoulder to calm him down: breathing alone wasn't getting the job done. " What more Diego? What else did you see?" " She was being tortured, Malia, she was....... she was tormented", he started to cry, like a baby whose mother left for work, and I couldn't just help but console him, in as much as I didn't want to, " we need to find her, we must fin

" Diego! Diego! she's no more, she's dead!" I shouted at him and he snapped out of anything that was keeping him there on the floor. " No, it can't be true", he pushed me out of the way and took her head in his hands. I would've gotten annoyed but saving her was more important than my feelings as of then. " No, Malia wake up!" he tapped her cheeks, shaking her vibrantly as if she was actually sleeping and would wake with the agitation. Her abdomen was still dripping blood, and everything was messed up. My eyes caught the sight of another naked body strapped on another metal table, with blood splattered on his body, while his chest was open - I almost threw up at the sight. Diego was still doing whatever he could to revive his revolutionary lover, even performing CPR and heart pump, but none seemed to be working. I flickered lightning with my index finger and sent it straight to her heart, startling Diego who backed out immediately. She gulped for breath, raising her he

Diego quickly steered the wheel, bumping into the stupid vehicle that collided with us, leaving the truck to collide with about three of the cops' vehicles, but that didn't stop them from chasing after us, instead, sirens increased, as if they were ready to give up their lives at any moment. We were driving side by side with the other vehicle, and I looked past Diego to find two hefty looking guys in the vehicle - they were vampires. Diego bumped into them and slightly overtook them, damaging more parts of his vehicle, only to almost collide with another vehicle aiming to bump into us, but this time he was clever enough to steer the wheel out of harm's way. I looked at the driver of the second car after it had skillfully steered around and caught up with us - they too were vampires. " They're all vampires!" I said to Diego, holding onto my seatbelt. " I know", he still focused on the road. I looked back at Malia and Hansel and they were really not into the whole fast sa

Diego's POV I wanted to drive to the medical center first, but I then decided to go home before going over to go see my father. I was confused, more than I had ever been in my life. My heart was heavy laden for the fact that Malia has been going through hell all those while, and at the same time relieved that I got to rescue her and her shit smelling pack member or whoever he was, and that certainly came with a price, a price that I might just find too hard to pay. I knew that I would be taken hostage on sight, there was no need for a second thought on that, so picking up a few things for dad became another criteria for going home; I'll at least give him a change of new clothes before being arrested. I drove my car in the wretched situation that it was in, amidst the wonder gaze of people, and was lucky enough to get to my place before running out of gas. I was tired, but the gentle meadow of the evening encouraged me. I walked myself to the door and opened it, only to hear

    I told my father everything about Malia, how we met and how long we have been together and he was fascinated. I didn't bother to disclose the part where I killed her parents - that discussion was left for another day. " Look son, I'm happy that you feel this way about someone even though the person is not of our kind, I know that if your mother were to be a werewolf, I would have gone against hell and hades just to be with her. But I must warn you, such is forbidden of you, so you have to keep your relationship a secret and make sure that no member of our pride finds out", he was stern. And surely, he wasn't all knowing after all, if not he would have known about what happened like eighteen hours ago. " Well, there is a problem dad". " And what is the problem?" " It's actually a long story ". " Then make the story short ". I got up from the cushion to give him more space to run mad as he pleased when he eventually receives the news, because definitely he will run mad;

I must've had an ear problem. Yeah, that must have been the case. Or rather he didn't literally mean what he was saying, like he was using an idiom. That must be it. Those damn idiomatic expressions can be as misleading as hell, imagine someone walking up to you and telling you that they saw a white elephant, only for you to later figure out that there wasn't an actual white elephant, just that the person had witnessed something unimaginable. Yeah, it was always unnerving, just like when you find out for the first time that Santa Claus doesn't actually exist, it's just mom that has been placing those gifts under the tree all those years. I even knew a girl that cried for several days when she found out that the tooth fairy doesn't really exist, the poor fellow would've probably been a grandmother by then, or would have even met her demise. " Excuse me sir, you mean that she had a vampire turn you into one, right?" I asked, just to be clear. " No. She turned me into one by hers

" What? You do what?" I asked him, my eyes widened in surprise. " I said I know who you are. Now come on in or if what you want to say is very brief, you can say it here right now", he said, keeping me on my toes with his husky voice. " Okay", I said. He proceeded to go into the house while I followed after him. His footsteps were tired, as if he was finding it hard to carry his own weight. He led me into the sitting room; a fairly spacious one with cloth covered sofas, all giving off the aura of a warm home. " Have a sit", he said, pointing at the sofa right opposite the television. The sofas were four in total; a three in one, a two in one, and two singles, all set to fill up the space allocated to the sitting room. He sat on the one next to the television, with a sofa dividing us both, giving a considerable amount of distance. " So, what do I owe this August visit?" he asked, relaxing carefully on the sofa, preparing himself to listen to any rubbish that I had to spill

Ariel's POV I immediately got zapped up into the familiar tunnel unconsciously, but instead of traveling down the tunnel, I started swirling around like that was inside a tornado. Drops of water appeared out of thin air, forming little screens that were showing different things, but all were of Calipsu, as if I was watching short videos of her with different screens, all passing by and rummaging with the storm inside the tunnel, giving little time for me to make out sense of what any of them were showing. The wind was picking up, blowing my hair into my face and my clothes almost away from my body. I tried to focus on the screens, but they were too much for me to focus on anyone. One screen was depicting Calipsu at another date with Diego's father, another was the familiar picnic scene, another was of both of them in bed, making love, another showed where she was casting a spell on a sleeping Diego's father, lying in the center of a witch's circle, but the one that grabbed my

Death. It has always been a mystery, a journey whose end no one knows. No one has ever trailed down that road and returned, and so there was no answer to any questions one might have regarding the phenomenon. But one thing was certain; that everyone, every living creature must die. For humans, their time was shorter. They mostly died at seventy, eighty, ninety, hundred, or sometimes a hundred and a few more years, but it never exceeded a hundred and fifty. For werewolves it was a bit longer - three hundred, three hundred and fifty, four hundred, and so on, but they normally did not exceed five hundred. Witches normally exceed five hundred, even reaching up to seven hundred if they do take proper care of themselves, while vampires were topping the list, being able to live for a thousand years, but normally not exceeding a thousand and two hundred. It was also believed that one goes on to another part of the world after death. The Abrahamic religions - the Christians, Muslims, and

Patricia's POV I drove off immediately as soon as we locked up Diego in the room. I couldn't tell why dad would choose to have him locked up in that house, of all the places that he could possibly be locked up in. The house held memories that I wasn't so fond of, memories that I had buried deep inside me, sent straight to the back of my mind, and seeing the house again almost got me overwhelmed with the emotions that I had tried so hard to bury over all these years. But yet again that was predictable of my father. It was literally in his nature to torture me, to bruise me, both physically and mentally, all for the goal of making me stronger and wiser, and it was working. The fact that I walked into that house and came out without having cried myself to stupor was evidence of my father's toughening syndrome being active in me. I drove off immediately before the wall I had put up would crash to pieces, dropping the two guards at the Maester's quarters and leaving immediately t

" No, please, stop", Diego said, likely talking to himself as he struggled to let go of my neck. Trembling, he got his hands off, tears running down his cheeks as he tried to control himself. His head moved with the intention of burying his teeth into my neck, but instead he bit into his arm, shouting in-between as he kept biting his arm. I was too astounded to even move and I just laid there, watching him try to tame the monster in him. " Tie me up now!" he said as he continued biting, somewhat making it hard to discern what he was saying but thankfully, I was quick-witted and realized what his grumbling meant. I pushed him off my body, slamming him into the wall as the urge in him tried to have him attack me, but instead he bit deeper into his arm as the dripping blood increased. I quickly got the bed sheet and immediately tackled him to the floor, tying the sheet behind his back and letting him gawk for some time. I got off him and moved to the other side of the room, trying

Malia's POV I kept worrying. About Diego, about Hansel, about alpha Jace. These three men whose lives have become much harder just because of me, and I couldn't help crying myself to sleep sometimes. I felt that Hansel was getting better, even though I wasn't pretty sure if he had woken up, but alpha Jace was definitely getting worse. Hans' constant visit to the dungeon and his beatings and threats confirmed all that; he was dying. The physicians at the clinic couldn't figure out what was happening to him and couldn't find a remedy, something to treat him with. I wondered what could have gone wrong with me. He wasn't supposed to suffer from my bite, certainly not, not even when the bite was deep enough let alone when the bite wasn't so deep. There had to be an answer somewhere, a solution, an explanation as to why that was happening. The door slammed open and one of the guards walked in, with another following right behind him. Without saying a word, they both held me, ty

Was it Diego? Hell no, it was his father, but he damn looked exactly like his son. If Diego had been the one staring at him, it would feel like looking at a mirror; just that the mirror would have a moustache and curly hair that was even better than his bland face and plain boy haircut. It absolutely felt like deja Vu. " Um, yeah, yeah, I'm faaaaaaaine", she was about to let go of hid grip, forgetting that her legs were still stunted and her back was still angled perpendicularly. Yeah, I was inside her, muted, shut out, somewhere inside, but still very much able to know what was going on even though I had no control whatsoever of her actions or whatever was going on - just like old times, back at the picnic memory. She was about to fall even harder as she threw her handbag upwards in a reflex action, her right leg moving up to form an angle of 95% while her left one stayed put to the ground, and for whatever reason it may be, her mouth was terribly wide open. He surg

Ariel's POV Calipsu. She was a legend in the witches' world. The most powerful of all witches, the most skilled and advanced in tropical magic and spells, that was who she was. All the witches revered her, afraid to incur her wrath upon them; that was just how strong she was. She was the leader of the witches' council before Madison, and during her time as my mother usually told me, witches were feared as demigods. She was the thirteenth member of the witches' council, and their sovereign power and glory was sometimes attributed to the number 13; a number that cleans and purifies. The number 13 brings the test, the suffering and the death. It symbolizes death to the matter or to oneself and the birth to the spirit: the passage on a higher level of existence. For the superstitious, especially with Christian folks, this number brings the bad luck or the misfortune. But for the cabalist, the number 13 is the meaning of the Snake, the dragon, Satan and the murderer. But it is a
