As I strolled through the foyer of my art studio after finishing a tutorial session with some college students on painting, I heard footsteps running my way. It's been three years since I graduated and traveled to the big metropolis, New York, to start working with a small-time art company.
I truly needed to get away from some of the drama from my background, and I had no choice but to run. As a small-town kid from an artistic family, I can't help but question why I selected art as a job and a course to study in school, but one thing I do know is that I really enjoy what I do.
"Lisa, hold up," yelled the voice, which sounded extremely familiar as I turned to validate my guess or, better yet, find out who was calling out to me.
"Will, oh my goodness, how did you find me here, ho...ho...how did you get here," Lila exclaimed, her smile beaming across the foyer, revealing her very white teeth and well-rounded cheeks, a gorgeous lady she truly was.
"You haven't lost your touch with this your swift foot, sometimes I wonder why a woman this pretty would walk so fast," Will chuckled before hugging his sister and catching his breath.
My younger brother, William "Will" Banks, is a remarkable artist in his own right. Our mother was a painter and our father was a sculptor, and they fostered a love of beauty and creativity in them from a young age. My brother and I studied painting and sculpting at the Rhode Island School of Design.
"Glad I could see you," William murmured to his sister as he pulled away from the hug and kissed her on the cheek. "Glad to see you, Willy," she added, smiling.
"How are mom and dad?" Lila said as they made their way down to her studio.
"They are fine; I just returned from seeing them, and they have sent their regards." As they approached Lila's office, he took the lead and opened the door for his sister like a gentleman, gave a bow in the manner of a gentleman, and said "after you madam"
"Stop it," she says, giggling at her younger brother as she walks into the office.
"So, what brought you my way? I need to get out of here in less than fifteen minutes because I have a private class to teach," she explained to Will.
"I won't take up much of your time, so let me begin by saying that there would be a..." He went on to tell his sister a long story about how a billionaire saw her works in his art display and wanted to meet her in person. I told him you are my elder sister and I could make that happen, and he insisted, adding, if you can bring me the artist behind this work by night fall, she already has a job from me.
"So, this is the address of the restaurant where he would be having a private party, and he asked me to bring you along," he said as he wrapped up his story.
Lila was immediately overcome with surprise and joy, and the only thing that came out of her mouth was "what time are we supposed to be there" with a large smile and a sense of deep thankfulness that someone from a high place is finally showing respect for all of her hard work put into her art.
"Well, there is still time, and you must meet up." Will says this as he stands up to prepare to depart.
"It's 9:30, and I'm sure you'd look good," he said as he walked to the door. "I gotta run along now, I have some works to touch and some to complete and then prepare for the party, I would pick you up from your house by 8:30pm," he stated as he left the office and closed the door.
"Thanks, Willy," she cried, and he stormed out of the office. Lila leaped, giddy with excitement, and couldn't wait to meet this mysterious billionaire.
After several hours, Will and Lila arrived at the party; it was magnificent, with exotic décor, cuisine, and an environment that was sweet and rich; the people here generally knew one other as greetings, embraces, and handshakes flew left and right. I was simply cuddling up to myself in a quiet corner, wondering where Will had gone because he had only stated he wanted to buy a drink for both of us.
"Hello," a very pleasant voice said as I turned, and all I could see was his chest, inside his very fine tuxedo, and a powerful hand reaching out for a handshake.
"Hello, good evening," I whispered sheepishly and shocked, wondering how anyone was noticing me here. "Hello, good evening," I muttered, and as he was ready to say anything else,
"Mr. Alexander, good evening." "I'm guessing you've already met Lila, my sister." Will walked in and stopped the conversation that was about to begin.
Alexander Carrington was born in England to a rich family. He was groomed from a young age to take over the family's vast commercial empire, which comprised everything from oil refineries to luxury hotels. Despite his affluent upbringing, Alexander was never satisfied with simply riding on the wealth and connections of his family. He was driven and ambitious, determined to make his mark in the world on his own terms.
"Aahh, interesting, the extraordinary artist you told me about, your works are glorious, I must say," Alexander said as Lila smiled, attempting to contain her pleasure.
"Thank you," she murmured nervously, trying to break free from the handshake that had already been too lengthy. "My brother was just telling me about you and...
She was instantly interrupted by Alexander as he resumed the talk with Lila with a succession of questions following each other. Will, on the other hand, became interested and busy with the night and his own chats about art and the profession she was to be engaged with.
After an hour, Lila was still having a good time and conversation with Alexander, but he never mentioned anything about himself; they mainly chatted about art until Lila checked her watch and realized that it was almost past midnight. Even though she had nothing planned for the next day, she needed to get home.
"I guess you should leave now," Alexander said, noticing how she kept gazing at her watch.
"Not like you think... but I'm not a late-night person," she added as she dropped the glass of champagne, stood up, and just as she was ready to finish the conversation, Will appeared...
"I'm sorry, Mr. Alexander, but I believe we must depart now; it was a wonderful party, and I thank you for the opportunity to be a part of these wonderful elite people." Will repeated shaking his hands.
"Thank you will, I already discussed many details about the project with your sister, and she already gave me a timeline for delivery, if she wows me again, she will continue with the private project in my villa, and that would be nice for her portfolio," he concluded as he walked away, waving them off for the night.
After several weeks, Lila had sent her work to the Alexander’s villa and was waiting for a response from him and never got any until this very day her phone rang and it was an unknown number
“Hello, am I unto Ms. Lila Alvarez Banks”, the caller called out my full names
“Yes, you are, I said surprised but still wondering who the caller might be
“You have been invited to the Manhattan penthouse of Mr. Alexander Carrington, I presume you have received a text containing the address, and a car is on its way to pick you up, courtesy of Mr. Alexander Carrington.
Lila froze in shock, as her heartbeats became louder and faster, she couldn’t tell if what she felt was excitement or fear as the journey to the response, she has been waiting for had finally come but she wasn’t as prepared as she thought.
Lila's heart raced as she made her way to the billionaire's Manhattan penthouse. She had never been in such an exclusive building before, and she couldn't help but feel a little out of place among the wealthy and glamorous residents. But she was determined to make a good impression. She had been commissioned to create a piece of art for the billionaire's private collection, a rare and coveted opportunity for any struggling artist like herself. She had spent weeks pouring her heart and soul into the project, and she was eager to see what the billionaire thought of her work.As she stepped off the elevator onto the top floor, she was greeted by a stunning view of the city skyline. But her attention was quickly drawn to the sleek and modern decor of the penthouse. The walls were adorned with priceless works of art, and the furniture looked like it had been custom-made for the space.Lila took a deep breath and approached the door to the billionaire's private gallery. She knocked once and
Lila's first week at the mansion was a whirlwind of excitement and discovery. Every day brought new challenges and new revelations as she worked on the commissioned piece and explored the sprawling estate.Alexander was a demanding boss, but Lila found herself enjoying the challenge of pushing herself to meet his expectations. There was a sense of exhilaration in being around him, like she was on the brink of uncovering something incredible. As the days turned into weeks, Lila began to see a different side of Alexander. He was more than just a mysterious billionaire with a dark past – he was a complex, multifaceted individual with a sharp mind and a wicked sense of humor.Lila found herself drawn to him more and more, despite the fact that she knew their relationship was both forbidden and dangerous. There was an undeniable chemistry between them, a spark of electricity that crackled in the air whenever they were together. But as much as Lila wanted to explore that connection, she cou
Lila couldn't sleep that night. She kept tossing and turning, her mind racing with thoughts of Alexander and the dangerous game she was playing. She couldn't shake the feeling that he was hiding something from her, something big.As dawn broke, Lila finally gave up on sleep and got up to start her day. She made her way down to the kitchen, hoping to find some coffee to help her wake up.But as she entered the room, she froze. Alexander was sitting at the table, his back to her. He was dressed in a black suit, looking as impeccable as ever. But Lila could see the tension in his shoulders and the hard line of his jaw."Good morning," she said softly, trying to hide her surprise.Alexander turned to look at her, and Lila saw the anger in his eyes. "What are you doing here?" he demanded."I was just looking for some coffee," Lila said, her voice shaking slightly."You're not supposed to be down here," Alexander said, standing up and looming over her. "You know that."Lila stepped back, fe
Soon Lila discovers that the business trip was actually just a business trip to seal a deal and sign some cheques, drink champagne and discuss further business opportunities around art. This meeting was in a luxury hotel and I was always standing beside Alexander like a personal assistant at all times. “Am sorry I had to bring you out of the studio to this meeting” Alexander said as he leaned down towards her ear and whispers. “Lila gave a weird look and followed up with a smile, not a problem she said” if this is part of my work with you then I should as well get used to impromptu opportunities like this, she added. Alexander looked at her with a mild lustful eye as though he was about to do something funny, he walked away from Lila saying “thank you for accompanying me here again, but we have to leave tomorrow so you continue with your work” and the lights faded off. As Lila made her way back to her quarters after a long day from the previous trip, her mind was spinning with que
Lila couldn't shake the feeling that she was in over her head with Alexander. As much as she tried to convince herself that it was just a job, she couldn't deny the pull she felt toward him.Days went by, and Lila found herself more and more drawn into Alexander's world. She accompanied him to events and meetings, and even spent time in his private quarters, where she was introduced to a side of him that few others had seen. But there was something about him that frightened her, something dark and dangerous that lurked just beneath the surface. And the more time she spent with him, the more she felt like she was playing a dangerous game of emotions. One evening, as they sat in Alexander's private library, sipping whiskey and discussing the latest business deals, Lila couldn't help but notice the way he was looking at her. His eyes were dark and intense, and there was a hunger there that made her uneasy."What are you thinking?" she asked, trying to break the tension."I'm thinking tha
Lila couldn't resist the magnetic pull she felt towards Alexander. Despite her reservations about his darker side, she found herself drawn to him more and more each day. They spent their days working together on the art project, discussing their passions, and exploring the city. One day, Alexander surprised Lila with tickets to a private concert. As they entered the venue, Lila was struck by the opulence of the space. The walls were adorned with gold leaf, and crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling. They made their way to their seats, and as the lights dimmed, Alexander took Lila's hand in his. The music began, and Lila was swept away by the beauty of the performance. She glanced over at Alexander and saw the intensity in his eyes. In that moment, she felt like he was the only one who truly understood her. As the concert came to an end, Alexander leaned over and whispered in Lila's ear. "I want to show you something," he said, his breath warm against her skin. Lila nodded, and th
The next morning, Lila woke up to the sound of Alexander's phone ringing again. She groaned and buried her head under the pillow, but Alexander answered the call and got out of bed.Lila lay there for a few minutes, feeling the weight of exhaustion from the previous night's emotional turmoil. She knew that Alexander had been up all night dealing with whatever crisis he was facing, and she couldn't help but worry about how it would affect him.Eventually, she got up and headed to the kitchen, hoping to distract herself with a cup of coffee. As she poured herself a mug, she heard Alexander's footsteps behind her."I'm sorry about last night," he said, his voice low and apologetic.Lila turned to face him. "Don't be. We all have our moments of weakness."He smiled at her, and Lila felt a flutter in her stomach. She knew that their relationship was moving quickly, but she couldn't help the intense attraction she felt towards him.As they sat down at the table, Alexander reached across the
The morning after their passionate encounter, Lila woke up feeling a mix of emotions. She couldn't deny the chemistry between her and Alexander, but she also couldn't shake the feeling that there was something sinister lurking beneath the surface of their relationship. As she got dressed, she noticed that Alexander was already up and dressed as well. He looked serious and preoccupied, his mind clearly elsewhere."Is everything okay?" Lila asked tentatively.Alexander turned to her; his expression unreadable. "I'm not sure," he said slowly. "I have a meeting today that could potentially be very...problematic."Lila's heart sank. She kept asking herself why there was always one problem or issue with Alexander and his business associates. Yes, the world of art can be a serious affair when money got involved and more interesting when it is a rare piece, but she didn't know how to help him. "What can I do?" she asked, feeling helpless.Alexander sighed, his eyes flickering with emotion. "J
As he sat there thinking, he slowly drifted into his thoughts. As he remembers he on night affair he once had with Doyle.**FLASHBACK**"Hi, I am Doyle and I was asked to see you by the receptionist about the opening for a persona assistant". She smiled as she extends her hand for a handshake with Alexander. It was winter time and the snow was heavy, revealing Alexander sipping his coffee and watching the show cover cars parked around the streets. It was a skyscraper with 60 floors in the middle of New York. He loved Americano…Alexander returned the smile and shook Doyle's hand warmly. "Nice to meet you, Doyle. Please, have a seat," he gestured towards the plush chairs in his office. The panoramic view of the snow-covered cityscape from his window provided a picturesque backdrop for their conversation. As Doyle settled into her seat, Alexander began the interview. "So, Doyle, tell me a bit about yourself. What experiences do you have as a personal assistant?"Doyle straightened up an
Gabriel's reaction from the text he got from Doyle was beginning to wear out, even Bill Stevens had no clue things would get this messy. "I thought the trap for the sex scandal was enough, why would you sex pet go that far Gabriel" Bill leaned close to Gabriel and whispered from his teeth. As they continue to talk and frown over Doyle's decision to abduct Lila, a decision she has never told anyone about. She just changed the narrative of their blackmail and things were about to take a different turn. Another text came in on Gabriel's phone and it was Doyle again. It's been months since they started the plot to bring down Alexander's Empire and this was not part of what they say coming. It was a new twist.Gabriel's heart pounded as he read Doyle's latest text. "Lila is pregnant," it read, causing a mix of shock and confusion to wash over him. He turned to Bill, his eyes wide with disbelief."Did you see this?" Gabriel showed Bill the text, his voice trembling with anxiety.Bill's fa
The driver was confused. He knew he had to run for his life. This has been a plan between him and Doyle; she has used him. All she did was give him a big tip, and he agreed to share their location. She insisted it was Alexander's order to make sure Lila was safe.Immediately after Lila's head was covered and taken away into the black van, he abandoned the car and fled. Doyle had asked the men to kill him to cover her tracks, but he sensed it and ran for his life, but he was already in the mix. Meanwhile, Lila was regaining consciousness. Things were beginning to make sense to Lila as she recovered from the coma she was in after the shock of the accident that led to her abduction. As her eyes began to open under the black veil covering her head, she could feel a throbbing pain in her temples. The realization of her abduction slowly dawned on her, along with the memories of the accident that had led to this terrifying ordeal. Panic surged through her veins, but she fought to keep it a
Alexander's love for art was extra ordinary, not only for what it is and it's unique standout elegance. It was a money making machine, a game for the elite. Just like chess, art was a major game of moves, quick fingers and lost of money doing the talking. And then there was the racket or snatch and grab, precious artworks, ancient pieces and rare artifacts. It was a gathering of the elite members who trade and run the underground art community, business tycoons and billionaires or all calibers.Alexander entered the grand ballroom of the luxurious villa, the venue chosen for the secret gathering of the art world's elite. The room was filled with opulent artworks, displayed on the walls and pedestals, each piece more valuable than the next. The air was thick with a sense of power and secrecy as the attendees mingled, their whispers echoing through the room.As he made his way through the crowd, Alexander caught sight of an old friend conversing near a striking sculpture. They were bo
Lila was already on her way to see her parents, spend time with them. Her dad was late, and her mom had already remarried to Fred while she was away with her brother in the city. She had decided to go by road with the thought that the long trip could calm her down after the recent events. Everything had happened so quickly. As the driver made his way back to New York, her mom wasn't aware she was coming home. She gently placed her head on the window of the passenger's seat and slowly drifted into a calm sleep. Without any harmful thought, she slept off as they drove through various cities.Unknown to her, Doyle had planned something else, and this time it wasn't even known to her assistant Gabriel. It was already past 09:00 when tragedy struck. It wasn't until a black sedan overtook the car that a black van appeared right behind them and hit the vehicle. Lila woke up with a shock, her head dashing slightly against the window to give it a crack."What's going on, Who are these people",
The clock ticked away the minutes in the dimly lit room as Alexander and Lila anxiously awaited any news from Simon Thompson. The weight of the threatening messages hung heavily in the air, suffocating their hopes for a peaceful life together. Every passing second felt like an eternity, filled with uncertainty and fear.Lila continues her painting as a means to take her mind off the whirlwind of issues plaguing their peace. Finally, Alexander's phone rang, breaking the tense silence. He grabbed it eagerly, his hand trembling with anticipation. It was Simon."Alexander, I have an update," Simon's voice cracked through the phone. "We've traced the source of the messages to an encrypted server, but the location is masked. It seems we're dealing with a highly skilled individual or a well-organized group."Alexander's heart sank at the news. The threat was far more sophisticated than they had anticipated. "Simon, we need to find them quickly. Lila and our unborn child's safety is at stake.
Lila sat by the edge of the luxurious pool, her feet gently skimming the water. Her mind was filled with a whirlwind of conflicting emotions, and she couldn't help but question the path she had chosen. The weight of their dangerous game and the secrets they had uncovered threatened to suffocate her. She needed clarity, a moment to gather her thoughts amidst the chaos that surrounded them.Lost in her contemplation, Lila began to engage in a conversation with herself, seeking solace and understanding."Why did I let myself get tangled in this web of deception?" she whispered softly, her voice carried away by the gentle breeze. "I thought I knew who I was, but now everything feels so uncertain."She closed her eyes, allowing the warmth of the sun to caress her face. Memories of her life before Alexander flooded her mind, reminding her of the simplicity and innocence she had once cherished. The revelation of Gabriel's involvement and the dangers that followed had shattered that innocence,
As they arrived at Alexander's mansion, Lila felt a sense of relief wash over her. "We are safe, for now" Alexander says. Only thing left was how to deal with Doyle."Now we know where the information has been leaking from" Lila added as she hugged Alexander closely. They had to be perfect with their double deception, they only have to outplay the players of this dangerous game of desire. But as they stepped inside, Lila knew that their troubles were far from over. The secrets they had uncovered threatened to destroy everything they held dear including the new baby, and she didn't know if they could survive the flames that were sure to come.As they settled in for the night, Lila couldn't help but wonder what other secrets lay hidden beneath the surface of Gabriel's empire, and if they were ready to face the consequences of their actions.Lila spent the rest of the night pouring over the documents and files they had obtained from the investigator as be promised. It was clear that G
Lila felt her heart race as Alexander swerved the car to avoid the oncoming vehicle. She clung to her seat, her knuckles turning white as they careened around a bend."What's that you want to tell me Lila," Alexander said through gritted teeth. He was already angry Lila nodded, her eyes fixed on the road ahead. She could see the other cars in her rearview mirror, its headlights flashing ominously. She didn't know how to start the story. Should she start with the fact that she was already 1 month pregnant, was she supposed to start with her already growing suspicion with Doyle and the picture she had found laying on the floor when she got to the house. She was tensed buy knew the right time was either now or never. As she took a deep breath…Lila gathered her courage and took a deep breath, preparing herself to reveal the truth to Alexander. But just as she was about to speak, a sudden screeching of tires and a blaring horn interrupted her thoughts. She turned her attention to the ro
