She sighed and said, “What happened? I heard you and your husband arguing. It sounded like hell up there.”“Oh, Sheba, don’t be a killjoy now!” I said, raising my hands in the air as I walked over to the bed and sat next to her. “It’s nothing, really.”She rolled her eyes and said, “Jane! Don’t lie to me. You know you can tell me anything.”“Okay, okay, fine!” I said, giving in to her curiosity. “Rick has agreed to let you stay here.” I continued.“Okay, great! But you guys had to argue about it?” She asked.“Never mind that, Sheba.” I said, waving my hand dismissively. “It’s not important.”“Have you settled in? I have plans for us tonight.” I said, changing the subject. She nodded and said, “Yeah! I should be good to go. And I think I need a new phone because Vincent won’t stop blowing up my phone with calls.” She said, showing me her screen with dozens of missed calls from her husband.“Don’t worry, my sister. Soon, we’ll kick these men out of our lives and live our best lives, ok
So finally we’re done with the massage and we went to the part of the spa where they did manicure and pedicure. As we sat down, they offered us a glass of wine to sip and I looked at my sister and she looked back at me and we both laughed. We didn’t know why we were laughing though, but we were very happy and very relaxed at where we were. The spa was cozy and elegant, with soothing music playing in the background and a pleasant aroma of lavender in the air. They started on our pedicure and it was really, really refreshing and relaxing, especially when I dipped my leg into that warm water and she was really careful with my feet. She gently scrubbed away the dead skin, massaged my calves, and applied a shiny polish on my nails.“Sister, this is so relaxing and refreshing. I’m so glad we came on this outing,” I said to her and she smiled.“Of course, Jane, I’m the best at planning stuff. Have you forgotten that?” she said, and I laughed.“Oh no, I haven’t forgotten,” I said.So while we
She looked at me with a hint of suspicion and annoyance, narrowing her eyes and pursing her lips. I was sure she didn’t like me asking about her husband. I mean, what kind of woman would anyway? She tried to act casual and friendly, but I could tell she was lying. She shifted in her seat, crossed her legs, and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.“Oh, my husband is fine,” she said, forcing a smile. “He’s just very busy with his work and his projects. He travels a lot, you know. He’s always in different countries and cities. He’s very successful and popular.”She paused, then added, “And he loves me very much. He’s very loyal and faithful to me. He would never cheat on me or hurt me. He’s the best husband ever.”She looked at me with a smug and superior expression, as if she was trying to rub it in my face. But I knew better. I knew she was insecure and unhappy. I knew she was desperate, afraid, and jealous.I knew she was lying to herself and to me.I decided to play along with her
Sheba and I had just finished our dinner and we were ready to hit the club. My phone started ringing. “I wonder who it is,” I said to her as I checked the caller ID. It was Landry, my date for the night. “Hello, Landry, how are you doing?” I said, putting him on speaker.“I’m good. Where are you ladies at?” He asked. His voice was deep and smooth, like honey.“Well, guess what? We’re headed for the club,” I said, smiling at Sheba. She cooed and winked at me. We were having so much fun and I had never seen her that happy or that lively in a very long time. So I was happy that she was happy.“Alright, we’ll see you ladies there. We’re already here by the way,” He said. “And remember, I told you I was going to bring my brother, my twin brother actually.”“Oh yeah, you did tell me,” I said, trying to sound casual. Sheba was also very excited to meet him, but she pretended to be cool about it. She gave me a look that said, “What the hell are you doing?” and I laughed. “Don’t worry, sister.
“Every single thing you see inside this car is for you. Why would I even be pulling your legs when you’re my princess? Come on, darling, check them all out,” he said with a wide grin. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he watched me open the car door and gasp. I was dumbfounded. How could he have done this all for me? It was too much for me to handle. It had been a while since a man actually got me gifts, I admitted.“Well, you have seen one man that will do anything to please his woman. I will always continue to shower you with gifts until you agree to marry me,” he said, taking my hand and kissing it gently. He looked at me with such devotion that I felt a pang of guilt. I wasn’t even planning to get married to this man, or to have anything serious with him. But he was getting me gifts while I was using him. I could tell that he was really into me. I didn’t know how to handle that, but I pretended to be happy.“Wow, you got me gifts from all the brands. Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chane
“I am a very rich man. Forget that I work in a hospital for people, you know. It’s because it’s my passion to take care of people in the hospital. My father was extremely wealthy and before he died he left so many of his properties to me, which includes gold and diamond mines and all of his assets to me as the only son. Okay? I am managing all of that and I don’t want you thinking that buying you all these gifts is too much because it’s too little. Matter of fact, I was thinking of buying you a car,” he said casually. He dropped a bombshell on me.“Really? A car? That would have been more interesting than all these gifts,” I said sarcastically.“Actually, I’m kidding. Ladies love fashion, ladies love glamour jewelry, and I’m really happy that you got all that for me. Thank you so much,” I said sincerely.I leaned in for a kiss and we both kissed passionately. So my phone suddenly started ringing in my pocket, jolting me out of my trance. I picked it up to see who it was. It was my hus
"You guys from this family sure know how to spoil," I joked, making him laugh. His chuckle echoed, adding a touch of warmth to the moment."Well, it's our thing," he grinned back. "Spoiling the women we really care about."I checked the time, realizing I had to leave. "Okay, I think it's time for me to go. My husband's probably looking for me." I tried waking up my sister, but she was already knocked out. I had no choice but to let David drive us home. So, this time, I led the way. My car pulled into my driveway, with David and Landry following close behind. Oddly, they didn't enter the garage. That worked out, though. It was easier for me to get my sister out of David’s car. Slowly, I guided her into the house. But before I did that, I thanked Landry."Thanks a lot for everything today. I'll keep these gifts in my car, and tomorrow, I'll move them to my house," I said. He helped me gather the presents from his car into mine. I planned to deal with them tomorrow since it was so late.
“Of course you can,” I shrugged, brushing past him. He grabbed my arm and pulled me back.“Look, Jane, that’s not how business works, OK? There are protocols to this thing,” he said, his voice strained.I turned sharply to look at him. His blue eyes were pleading with me, but I felt nothing. He was my husband, but also my rival. He owned the company that I wanted to take over.“And I am your wife, and I’m sure that if you want anything to work, it would definitely work. Now you do that or I leave this house,” I said, pointing at the contract on the table. He looked at me in disbelief. “You’re blackmailing me? You’re threatening to divorce me if I don’t give you my company?”I nodded. “That’s right. You have two choices: sign over your shares to me, or lose me forever.”He sighed and ran his hand through his blond hair. He looked defeated.“Okay, fine, we’re going to work something out. But you have to understand something. The highest shareholder currently in my company is holding 70%
