"I heard from Helen that Jaxon is back. She said he decided to just study here. Have you two met?" Mom asked later that night.
"Yeah, I met him. He was in school," I answered while cutting onions. Mom and I used to do this when I visit her. She cooks while I assist her in cutting the vegetables and meats.
"Good that you have someone you know. Got some friends aside from him?"
"Well…" I don't really want to lie but I don't want to bother her with my situation in school, so I just said, "Yeah, I have a few. I'm still adjusting, so…" I shrugged and continued cutting the onions.
