Rune held his hand up at a sea side, stopping his men and keeping at alert. They had travelled several miles from Athens in just few minutes and ended up at a vast sea. From their visions, they had seen another building, probably another coven which they are not aware of. Rune had travelled through this route before but he had failed to notice the place, probably because it was always covered by a mist. After waiting for few minutes when everything had gone silent, he motioned again with his hand and they took up to the sky like a bat before descending on the grounds outside of the building. Like shadows, they sneaked inside through the window and Rune ordered them to separate, but not so fast because a strange wind blew suddenly, sending them crashing to the wall and a force held them down.“Something is wrong,” one of the men said in a strained voice and even Rune felt the power of the force that he started coughing up blood.A torch was suddenly lit and they all saw a man dressed
Rune walked with Elder Donovan on the cobblestone and they both seem to be in deep thoughts. His men sighted him and they came to him immediately.“What happened? Where is the man?” one of them asked him.Rune looked at him and said, “We didn’t find him. That is what you should say if anyone asks.”They looked at one another and Rune called their attention by saying, “Do you trust me?”They returned their eyes back to him and nodded one after the other.“Then from now on, only do as I say,” he said.“What about the Council?” another asked.“The Council have deceived us for too long. There has been a new change as I speak. Silver-Crest Coven will now be ruled by the Elders. Right now, we can only trust Elder Donovan,” he said and looked at him with a nod of approval. “Let us return to Athens.”His men turned around and at once, they leapt into the air, returning back. Rune turned to look at the building and he asked Elder Donovan, “Can you accept it? Being mortal?”“It is a hard choice
Two weeks later, Caitlin and her daughter were up, ready to go for their usual day’s activity when they heard a sudden knock on their door. Caitlin stopped moving immediately and Kyra stopped too as she looked at her mother and then at the door. No one, not even their neighbors have come knocking on their door, ever.Caitlin went to the door and asked from there in a clear voice, “Who is it?”“It is Martinez, son of Mortimer,” the person outside replied.Caitlin wondered what he was looking for this early and she opened the door to see him standing at the front. She looked at him and her eyes moved to look down at his outfit.Martinez smiled and put his hands behind him. “Caitlin,” he called, bringing her eyes back to his. “Is there anything I can do for you?” she asked, not smiling and would appreciate if he went straight to the point. “Yes, actually, a lot,” he answered and his eyes moved to the side.Noticing he was looking inside, she quickly stepped outside and closed the door
Caitlin’s eyes were fixed on the side of the bush where the leaves had moved and she could sense that someone was there, but most importantly, she could perceive the scent of blood in the air. The person must have been wounded, she thought, but still, she felt wary as she took daring steps towards the direction. The person seemed to have stopped moving as she got closer and then she brought her hand forward to part the shrub. Her eyes went wide immediately at who she saw and she called, “Bathilda?”Bathilda stared back at her, writhing, as pain dominated her face and her hands trembled as she brought it close to her left shoulder where she pulled out the arrow which had hit her. “Aunt Caitlin,” she called faintly as she struggled to breathe.“Bathilda!” Caitlin was surprised to see her here in the forest but also covered in blood. “What happened? Where is Kathryn?” she asked.“All dead,” she whispered, “they killed everyone.”“Who did?” she asked, already feeling a mix of anger and pa
Bathilda woke up with a start, sweating and she saw Baron face hovering above hers. He had his finger on his lips to hush her and he made a gesture with his hand for her to follow him.“What is—” her words were soon cut short when she heard noises coming from the house and on listening attentively, her eyes widen immediately. “No,” she said and got down from bed but as she made to rush out of the room, Baron held her back and started dragging her towards the window.“But Kathryn is in danger. We have to go help her.”“You should get out of this place and save yourself,” Baron said and added, “before it is too late.”Bathilda could see how lost he was and she shook her head. “I can never leave my people to die. I am a Blackburn,” she said and got out of his grip. She grabbed Kathryn’s sword from the table and made her way to where the noise was coming from, but she stopped immediately as she was about to take another step and her eyes wandered about the room. There, she could see her p
Bathilda jerked back to consciousness and she split her eyes open to stare at the sky which was starting to clear gradually. She could still feel the sting of the blade cutting her but the wound was not deep, it was just enough to make her pass out as it was sudden. Realizing that so much time had pass, she raised her upper body to sit up and her eyes searched around frantically to the spot where she had seen Kathryn last. She could not find her there, but she could see the blood that had wasted on the ground. Her eyes moved a little further from the spot and lying still was a body which she recognized to be hers. She quickly got up, not minding the stabbing pain she felt as she dragged her feet as fast as she could towards her and she got on her knees beside her.Her heart ached badly when she saw the state she was in and yet luckily, she saw that she was still conscious but it won’t be for long. She could hear her ragged breath already as she struggled to keep her eyes opened and he
A knock came on Padma’s door which she opened immediately and the frown that settled on her forehead was quick to disappear when she saw that it was Caitlin. Kyra who saw her mother, appeared from behind Padma and she could see the streak of tear which already dried at the side of her eye. She has never seen her mother cry before, not once. It made her wonder what had happened back at the forest and why she took long. Definitely, something was not right.“Caitlin,” Padma called and asked, “Where have you been?”“Padma,” Caitlin said and looked around, “did something happen?” While she was walking on the streets of Cinderville, she noticed something unusual. The women were not looking at her or talking bad about her, something that has never happened in fifteen years now. It made her wonder if somehow, Martinez had a change of mind and warned the people, but that doesn’t seem to be the case to her. This time, Kyra already stepped outside and she went to stand beside her mother as she
News about the deaths at Old-Vine Town was quick to spread throughout the other towns and people have started to talk about how they were vampires hiding amongst humans all these while because of the fangs and the black blood which they recognized to be a night blood. It was in the stories they have read and heard which has been passed on and knowing that it was real only made them shiver in fear because they now believe there are the others who might also be living among them. And while gossips and fear spread in all the towns, Caitlin packed few of their belongings as she prepared to leave the town tonight with her daughter, believing it was not safe to stay anymore, while on the other hand, there was Martinez, who despite everything that was going on, the only thing on his mind was to make Caitlin regret what she did to him.Meanwhile, at the other side of the border, all the other Covens has been thrown into uproar when they learnt about the news of the Blackburn and about the boo
Present day…Every morning when it’s not the weekend, the house is always on heat mode. There is the TV playing, footsteps running from one place to another and music blaring out from a stereo in one of the rooms. Noises everywhere.Amber dashed out of the kitchen, pulling off her apron and carrying with her a lunchbox which was already packed. She rushed to the dining table and placed it aside before dishing out food from the pot she brought to the table earlier. Her eyes darted to the TV and she saw the news that was being displayed. It was yet another sad death and the cause unknown.“This doesn’t seem to end,” she muttered to herself and shook her head sadly.Turning her eyes away from the Tv, she moved her eyes towards one of the rooms, the one that belonged to her daughter and she shouted on top of her voice so her daughter would hear;“Renee! Get out here now! You are going to be late for school. Again! And turn off that damn stereo!”“I’m almost done! Give me a minute mom!” Re
Three days after, Aiden and the rest of the people had stayed back at Athens and are making preparations for the sacrifice which Kyra said they should prepare for before passing out on the field after the rift closed up and the black clouds cleared from the sky. Every one of them who accepted the prophecy and the Chosen One all stayed in Athens and prepared for the sacrifice as they all waited for her to wake up. Sage had been by her side during those three days, watching her and trying to understand how she must have felt after she woke up from her deep sleep. Bathilda had explained what happened while he was being held as a prisoner by his own people, but now, there was nothing like that anymore. No one belonged to a coven. They are all One.Kyra slowly opened her eyes and saw a figure standing over her and looking down at her. It was blurry at first and she called softly, “Sage.”“Oh sorry. I sneaked in after he left. Did you finally wake up?”Kyra blinked her eyes again and saw th
As they all waited for Kyra to say something, Kyle knew his coven all looked up to him now and this could be his chance to prove in front of everyone that he was the one they needed. If he killed the Chosen One now and in front of everyone, he could easily take over Athens and control all the other covens. He would build his own council where they would take orders from him and be brought for punishment if they went against him. This thought brought him an inner excitement and with that, he stepped out from the crowd. All eyes were on him and they all seem to want to know what he wanted to do as none of them was brave enough to step forward. He was even surprised when no one opposed him and it gave him more confidence. His lips twisted in a confident smirk. "So, the death warrior finally shows herself,” he said. “I thought Sapphire killed you. How are you still alive?”Kyra stood calm amid the storm that was slowly brooding inside of her and her hand gripped the ancient sword. “This i
The guards that were outside the building of Athens, who were guarding the place from any intruders, soon became distracted by a brighter light they saw ahead of them, up in the sky. It looked like a blazing sun and it was heading directly towards them.“I think…the sun is about to fall,” one of them said and the others watched on, until they saw that it was closing in on them. Not having the time to take cover, they cowered and shield their faces with their hands and they expected to feel a burn on their skin, but instead of that, they heard a loud thud that shook the ground beneath them.Meanwhile, in Arkadia, the vampires were busy making plans on how they would attack Polis before the Silver Crest Coven would, and how they would capture the chosen one and kill her once and for all. Meera had brought Kevin to the coven, hoping to use him against Kyra who people speak so highly of and one that should be feared, but she was determined to kill her with her own hands. She vowed to make
Kyra slowly opened her eyes and she stared up at the ceiling for a long time. Her white skin was starting to return back to its original color and in a matter of seconds, it regained life once again. She raised her upper body and sat upright, her hands holding either sides of the hard stone where she laid and she buried her head down, her hairs falling over. She knew a lot had changed. The vampires were all back and she was being hunted again by them. Also, the world she knew of had also changed. Even Pollypel was no longer called like that anymore. It is now Polis. The events that happened in the past days suddenly came back to her and she knew she was staked by Sapphire who disguised herself using her shape-shifting technique. It was how she killed Sage in that war and he had thought she was the one.Revisiting the past as if she had really gone back and lived that life all over again felt like she had been out for years. She felt she had died and returned to life, but in a new form
Sage had just finished killing the last vampire left and he saw Kyra at the front coming towards him. it seems she had managed to kill Kyle and now, they were the only two left. The battle was over, he thought. As Kyra came to him, she embraced him and he embraced her back. Even though this was the end, they were still together, but as he was embracing her, he suddenly felt her push something into him and he let out a gasp before pushing her body away and he looked down at his own chest to see that she had just staked him with a sword. But why? He thought and the looked at her with pain in his eyes. Her eyes held no emotions or remorse. It was as if she had been waiting for this moment to get rid of him, but why would she do that to him, he thought again as his body fell to the ground and his vision became blurry.Kyra got to the scene and she saw someone standing with Sage. That was before she saw his body fall to the ground and she screamed his name;“SAGE!”But Sage didn’t hear her
Kyra led her people to war. It was one that would never be forgotten, and one that no one would live to tell…Few hours before the war started, Kyra walked to the mountain and met with Jade. They both sat down there in silence and just staring at the horizon.“It’s going to be soon,” Kyra said to him. “I can feel it.”Jade looked at her, knowing what she meant, and Kyra looked at him and asked;“Is there anything you want to say to me?”Jade pulled the corner of his lips into a smile and said, “I wish you would have asked me before now.” Jade knew even if he said what was on his mind, it was already too late. And he said to her, “I thought you would know.”But Kyra understood what he was saying, and yet, she pretended not to know. They sat there in a long silence and as they watch the night go on, Kyra’s eyes caught something from afar, like a black cloud, heading towards them. she stood up, and so did Jade who knew what it was already, and he looked at her.Kyra went back to the cove
Kyra sat on her stone bed, wiping the blood off her sword with a piece of cloth. As she did that, a knock came on her door and when she raised her eyes up, she saw Sage entering, and he shut the door again. He walked towards her with a bowl and a cloth in his hand and he came to stand in front of her.Kyra set down her sword to the side carefully and she looked at him again. She hasn't said a word to him ever since they got back together, even though she knows he has lost his uncle and brother.Sage placed the bowl beside her and took her hand gently without permission. He dipped the cloth inside the water and squeezed and he started to wipe her body with it. After he was done with her hands, he came up to her face and started wiping the dirt and blood off and the water turned dirty."Do you think I'm right with what I'm doing?" She asked him.Sage stopped the movement of his hand and he asked, "Leading us to war?" He then answered, "It's the only thing we can do. Since Aamon is dead,
Since the day Kyra and Sage returned to Pollypel island, the place has been silent and they didn't return to their normal life. No one trained anymore or bullied anyone. Everyone just kept to themselves, grieving inside and awaiting what was next for their lives.Kyra hasn't smiled or spoken a word since she got back. The only place they could find her was on that cliff where she had lost Samantha. She would sit there for days and no one dared to disturb her.Sage travelled back to Athens to have a funeral for his brother and uncle and that night, Jade took up the courage to go meet Kyra where she was for days.He climbed up the mountain and when he saw her, he stopped and just stared at her. He didn't say a word until later when the sky started to darken."I know you can hear me so I'll just say what I have to say," he said and started, "I know how you feel about losing your friend. I am also in pain but it's nothing compared to yours, I know. Samantha is my sister, but she does mean
