0027

Still that same day after Alex had left for work, it was warm as the sunlight reflects brightly as it shines, adding more beauty to the streets of States. However, it did not last too long as the climate suddenly changed. Soon enough, the supposed warm and fine weather was abruptly changed as it rain slightly, the atmosphere suddenly turning cold and fuzzy.

On that cold, colorless Tuesday afternoon, heavy with the weight of imminent decision, Alex sat in the conference room of his office alongside with his diligent staff members. He fidgeted continuously, struggling to focus on the words bouncing around the room as his mind was filled with the echoes of the conversation he had had with his wife, Rosy only few hours earlier.

Alex and Rosy had weathered many storms over the dozen months they had been together. Through tremendous hardship and joys, they had managed to remain steadfast in their love for each other; being each others source of strength.

“...And, since we now share the same path in life, I believe it only fitting that we share name in all aspect including your properties and company...” It sounded to strange to him as her voice keep ringing in his head over and over again as though someone is playing records in his head.

Alex believed they are the definition of a couple that survived every struggle, emerging stronger and more devoted as time went by. The two of though had faced different challenges during their time together, which only strengthen their bond.

Tears were almost dropping from Alex's eyes as his thoughts wandered, blurring the whiteboard across the room and hindering him from seeing anything. All he could hear was Rosy's words earlier that day, their steadfast love a beacon of hope in an increasingly frightening world.

Throughout their time together, Rosy had been a constant support to Alex, always encouraging him to pursue his dreams and ambitions. In many ways, she was the primary reason for his enormous success —even though he's the heir to all he own already.

In spite of all that, Alex had never considered the idea of sharing his wealth with her, believing she own much herself. For him, he believe that his wife would always be satisfied by the love and devotion he offer her.

However, Rosy was no fool, while she proved to have loved her husband deeply, she understood that there is a vast difference between romantic attachment and financial stability. She know that their not-accepted marriage might prove contentious amongst their family and friends but she had never let that interfere with what she felt for Alex.

She had fought tooth and nails to make a place for herself, not just in Alex's life and someday maybe in his families heart —his mother precisely. She needed to prove to his mother how much Alex loved her and would do her bidding instead of his mother's.

The point of their conversation still rang in Alex's ear, as he had bought up an immensely vital question. What if something were to happen to him? Would he leave Rosy in the cold, penniless and forgotten? Rosy had been by his side through thick and thin, and she deserve more than to be cast out to the wolves in the event of the demise.

While Alex staffs drone off about project timelines and resource requirements, his mind could not stop racing as it thump few times a minute. The image of his mother filled his mind. Her unending insistence that he marry Lisa instead, a woman chosen for him just to get rid of Rosy and ensure he never end up with her, a notion he had never warmed up to.

He saw in her eyes, the huge disappointment his mother would feel upon learning that he was not only marrying for love instead of duty but that he would be splitting his wealth, effectively trying to defy his late father wishes for him.

His mother had threatened to disown him when she learn that he got married to Rosy, though he never wishes for such even though he expected it but he could not help letting go of Rosy for any other woman. What other threat awaits him if she learn that he's about to split the wealth?

Alex's heart raced as he pondered sharing his wealth with Rosy —he own a lot but he already gave her his words. He was almost certain that he should only feel nothing but a deep responsibility towards the woman who loved him unconditionally, who had given him the reason to fight through the tough times and believe in the value of being emotional attached with a partner.

As the meeting continued unconcerned by the ebbing hours, Alex recalled the early days of his relationship with Rosy. The push back from his families and her friends, the whispered doubt and openly hostile comments about Rosy's standing in his life.

He remembered vividly the way she had never wavered, even when he had gotten married to Lisa , standing proud and firm in the face of adversity. Her love, a shining beacon in these days.

With gritted teeth and a resolve born of unyielding devotion, Alex made the decision that would change their lives forever. He would share everything he had with Rosy as a testament to their love and the sacrifices they made for it.

"What's your say on this, boss?" The private assistant who had noticed his mind wandering due to look on his face asked him directly, snapping him off his train of thought. Alex creased his brows tightly like he was getting them knot as he stare strangely at him.

"What...?" Alex stuttered, caught off guard.

"You haven't be contributing or saying anything since the meeting commenced, Mr. Williams." Alex's assistant whose name is Kiel, reminded, his voice sounding polite enough. "Your opinion matters a lot on this project but you've been keeping mute on it."

Alex cut in almost immediately, in a sharp tone. "Oh, that... I'm sick and my head seems to be banging, you know what that mean, don't you?" He harshly told his assistant, his facial expression was hard. "Let's call it a day, and have this meeting is adjourned for now."

"But, It's been a while since we have such huge project as this, sir. We can't afford to..." He was still saying...

Alex cut him off abruptly, giving him no chance to finish his statement. "Don't make me repeat words, Kiel. Like I said; this meeting is over..." He could not help but bang the table before him hard, the sound echoing loudly throughout the boardroom.

Eager to begin this new chapter with his wife, he conclude the project meeting and made his way to his lawyer's office to discuss the practical aspect of his decisions —he had to make his moves now before he get a change of mind.

He knew that his moves will cost him a lot especially with his mother, but his priority is to ensure comfort and security of the person he loved most in his life —Rosy...
