The atmosphere was good that evening as a lady sat comfortably with her legs crossed, watching her favourite. Her phone buzzed softly on the center table, diverting her attention away from the soap opera she was watching.

Lisa picked up the phone hastily to check whatever message might have come in. She had thought it was her husband, Alex, who had messaged —probably to inform her he'll be staying out late that night as well.

If it is, she wouldn't be surprise as it has turn a routine that he would never cease from; sometimes, she wondered why he still send her those kind of messages! But then it turn out she was wrong. Again, she received the same message from anonymous sender as before.

“...The earlier you divorce Alex and leave him for me, the better for you, woman! You have no place in his life, you know where you belong instead...” The message reads. “This isn't a joke or an empty threat —divorce Alex if you know what's best for you!”

Lisa felt a chill run down her spine as she read the text message. This was the third time she had received a message like this, and it was starting to freak her out even though she know who keep sending her these messages.

It was Rosy. As recalled, Rosy is her husband's ex girlfriend and first crush.

The first time she received the message was a month ago and she didn't hesitate to show Alex the message but instead of reacting towards the message, he called the number with his cellphone —that was how he gets back to his ex girlfriend.

"Why are you contacting my wife, eh?" Alex demanded, his voice was on the pretence of being low and threatening. "This is completely unacceptable, Rosy. You need to stop this, right now."

Rosy, on the other end, gave a light laugh, the sound grating on Alex's nerves. "I don't think I will." She replied, her tone light and mocking. "I like playing with her mind, Alex. It's so much fun. You don't get it, do you? I'll never let her be happy with you, I'll do anything to tear you two apart."

After Rosy's response, though Lisa couldn't hear what she had said, she could still swear she saw her husband's lips parted in a tempting smile. "Do you want us to meet during the weekend?" He asked, his voice flirtatious. "Perhaps to catch up with those times we were apart. Or what do you think?

It was as though Lisa heard wrong at that moment, maybe it's her ears that loses their function. "Alex..." She blurted out, red with anger as her eyes widened at her husband's confession. "What in Pete's name are you doing?"

"What does it look like I'm doing?" He replied nonchalantly in the iciest voice he could muster. "You shouldn't get in my way unless you really want us to divorce as Rosy as suggested."

Lisa felt as if she had been slapped in the face. She couldn't believe what she was hearing, it was like a bad dream. The man she's married to was flirting with his ex girlfriend, right in front of her. And he didn't even seem to care that she was there, listening to every word.

"Alex, I..." She stammered, her voice shaking as her knee went weak due to his reply. "I don't understand what's going on. Why are you doing this? Why are you being so cruel?"

Alex's eyes flashed with anger. "I'm not being cruel, woman, I'm just being honest." He snapped in a hoarse voice that's void with no trace of emotion in it. "After all, I'm done trying to keep up with such a woman like you as my wife."

—that was the beginning of Lisa losing her husband to Rosy!

Lisa's phone buzzed yet again in her grip, snapping her out of her train of thoughts. She stared blankly at her phone's screen, it was another message from the same anonymous sender —Rosy, to be precise!

“...Still doubting that Alex can never be yours? You need a prove that's attached to my claim? Then meet me at the hospital and see for yourself... ” The second message reads.

Alex wasn't at home at the moment, even if he is, she can't show her the message anyways, already aware of how he's going to react towards the message —no, she doesn't want that to repeat itself.

Lisa had wanted to ignore the message but somehow, her curiosity was peaked which led her to indirectly accepting the unpleasant invitation. After all, she needed to see things for herself as well, right?

She quickly dressed up and was about leaving the house, hoping that whatever Rosy reveal to her wouldn't cause her lots of damage. She put on a body fitting black dress which she knew would arouse Alex's attention, plus, she was going to see his ex girlfriend, so she has to put on something alluring to keep her at bay.

That was the plan at least.

As she got to the hospital, her palms were sweating and her heart was racing. She wasn't sure what she was about to do but something deep inside her told her she must go through with it.

She walked into the hospital, instead of looking around for Rosy, her instinct knew exactly where to go to at the moment —Alex's Office! She has heard enough rumor about the both of them but she choose not to believe the media.

As Lisa walked through the hospital, she felt like she was being watched. She tried to ignore the feeling but it only grew stronger as she neared Alex's office. When she reached the door, she hesitated for a moment, wondering if she should go in.

But something compelled her to open the door, she did and step inside —what Lisa met inside the office was enough to make her collapse on the same spot she's standing.

"No...!" She blurted out in denial, shaking her head negatively in a vigorous manner —her eyes were obviously playing a dirty trick on her. "This isn't the Alex I get married to...!"

She asked, directing her gaze from the man to the parcel in her palms before raising her gaze to meet the man's. "-and why are you giving it to me?""I can read the curiosity in your eyes, lady." Gerald was pushed aggressively back into the prison, and the warder locked the gate immediately, throwing the keys into his pocket. Gerald hissed in pain as he forcefully hit his knee on the cold floor, bruising it in the process.“I wonder how long you are going to last here with the nonchalant attitude you are putting on, man!” The warder scowled disapprovingly at him, resting lazily on the gaze. “You won't even last three months here —you will be lucky if you do.”Gerald's eyes widened in shock. Three months…? That's a whole lot of time to be detained in a prison, how is he supposed to cope in this kind of surrounding for that long period of time without even knowing his offense? The thought of spending three months locked up in a cell was terrifying as it made his stomach dropped. It was hard to imagine being stuck in such a small space for so long, with nothing to do and no one to talk to. Gerald tried to think of ways to pass the time, but his mind kept returning to the same thou

Gerald's eyes blazed in fury as he banged his hands dangerously on the table, separating them from each other. “I rather remain in this hole than be at your mercy or listen to your petty orders! You can't make me do your bidding!” He growled at her.“Tsk, tsk!” Aunt Elsie twitched her nose in disappointment, unmoved by his rage or threats. “Then what would happen to Lisa? I told you; that your reaction and obedience will determine Lisa's fate, didn't I?”“What are you going to do to Lisa?” Gerald demanded, his heart beating against his rib cage. He couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to her. “Tell me what you want, and I'll do it. Just don't hurt her.”Aunt Elsie's lips stretched into a thin smile, she was loving the desperation in Gerald's eyes —he's the perfect pawn in the game. “I'm glad to see that you're willing to cooperate.” She said, satisfaction evident in her tone. “You're a smart man, Gerald, I think we can work well together.”Gerald hated the way she was talkin

What do you want from me?”Aunt Elsie's smile widened, she was glad he didn't bite her head off this time —instead, she loved the curiosity in his eyes; that was what she wanted from him anyway, not otherwise.“I've found myself smitten with you, Gerald.” She replied, her voice taking a different turn. “And I would do anything to get what I want from you —I'm not afraid of bargaining this time because I know what I want, and I want it badly.”Gerald was no in for her twist and turns, he wanted her to say whatever thing she's got for him and let
