After around a week, Roman brought Noah to New York. The following week went really hectic for Anthea as she helped Noah move in and settle in her apartment, then finished the rest of his admission procedures. He was accepted to Columbia University to study finance. Anthea has been over the moon since the day he moved in with her.

However, she was also a little worried about him. She didn't know how he would adjust to the place, which had given him so many bad memories. Sometimes, she couldn't help but wonder if it was a good idea or not. Did she make the right decision by bringing him back to New York? Among everything else, what she was most afraid of was him finding out the truth she had been hiding from him for years. She didn't want him to find out the secret. It would completely break him.

“Can I come with you? I don’t want to go home yet.” Noah’s gentle voice pulled her out of her thoughts as she glanced at him from the driver’s seat.

“Won’t you get bored? I have a meeting

Anthea stared at the small pink-blue lily of the valley that Nevaeh held out in front of her, waiting for her to accept the flower. For some weird reason, her heart squeezed painfully in her chest as a sudden thought crossed her mind. Would her daughter also look like the little girl in front of her? Would she also bring a flower for her birthday once she finds her? “Do you not like it?” Seeing Anthea silent like that, Nevaeh asked in a small voice while pouting her lips adorably. This snapped Anthea out of her thoughts as she shifted her attention to Nevaeh. “Of course, I like it. How can I not like something you brought for me?” Anthea smiled broadly at the little girl while accepting the flower pot from her hand. Nevaeh let out a giggle of happiness as Anthea accepted her gift. “I grew it with my dad. It's the prettiest flower in our garden. I'm giving it to you, okay?” She informed Anthea, once again surprising her with this piece of information. Anthea was taken aback for a wh

After the four of them left Anthea’s office, Rayan insisted on driving in his car, which Anthea reluctantly agreed to. She sat in the back with Noah and Nevaeh, while Rayan sat in the passenger seat. Throughout the whole ride, Nevaeh kept her and Noah occupied with her thousands of questions. For a moment, Anthea let herself forget everything else as she chatted with Nevaeh and Noah, enjoying their company. She would feel Rayan’s eyes on her through the rearview mirror from time to time, which would completely annoy her. Sometimes she blatantly ignored his stares, and other times she would send him a piercing glare only for him to smirk at her. After around 20 minutes of driving with Noah and Nevaeh’s non-stop chatter and laughter, they finally reached the fancy restaurant. Anthea was glad to see Noah and Nevaeh enjoying each other’s company, and throughout the whole journey, she kept asking him all kinds of questions regarding drawing, her favourite flowers, and cartoons. • Dear Ex-Husband, Beg For Mercy   Past

Flashbacks of the past-Lily sat quietly on the edge of the king-sized bed in her and Rayan’s shared bedroom. A bottle green ball gown lay next to her, which she was supposed to wear for the evening. Her mother-in-law had thrown a huge outdoor banquet in the backward garden of their estate. She had invited all of her rich and high-class close friends, celebrities, and political figures. All the people Lily didn't want to meet because she knew what she would feel inside those high-class crowds. A peasant. That word gave chills down her spine, as she still wasn't used to the world her in-laws used every single day to mock and humiliate her. The continued comparison with Aurelia Jones had now destroyed her self-esteem completely. She now feared even appearing in front of them. After spending eight months in that house, every single one of her dreams and expectations had already been shattered. The illusion she was living in had broken down into pieces, leaving only harsh reality. They w

Lily stood in a corner while trying to look for any sign of Rayan. She couldn't find him, even though half an hour had passed since she came to join the banquet. The banquet was already in full swing as well-known people from different backgrounds mingled together, ate, danced, and enjoyed all kinds of activities Camilla and Benjamin had arranged. Lily recognized some of the people from the previous gatherings she had attended, while the rest of the people were unknown to her. Ironically, there was not a single person she could talk to. It was already making her feel suffocated. The only people she was familiar with and could openly talk to were the helpers and butlers of the house. She had made good friends with three maids and a butler. Andrea and Molly were around her age, while Petra was a middle-aged woman. Her husband, Leo, was one of the butlers on the estate. They were the only people she could talk to besides Rayan, or else she would have died of loneliness and suffocation.

“She’s your wife?” Mia’s eyes went wide in shock as she questioned in pure disbelief. Her heart thumped wildly against her ribcage in fear. She didn't know that the girl whom Sarah and Aurelia introduced as one of their maids on the estate would suddenly turn out to be Rayan Allen’s wife. Why would they do such a prank on her and throw her in danger? “Are you fucking deaf?” Rayan chuckled dangerously while staring at Mia, making her shudder in fear. “Rayan, what's going on?” Benjamin asked as he walked towards his son, his eyes shifting on Lily, who was hiding in Rayan’s embrace. “You tell me what's going on here? Why are these fucking idiots calling and treating my wife as their servant? Where the fuck were you when they were humiliating my wife?” Rayan roared at his father, his eyes glaring directly into his without any fear. Benjamin’s eyes slightly narrowed at Rayan’s voice while he pressed his lips together in a tight line. “I think there's some kind of misunderstanding. Why

  • Dear Ex-Husband, Beg For Mercy   Losing Child

Almost two months have passed since the day of the banquet. Those two months seemed to be a little less painful and torturing for her, except for the fact that Rayan began to work harder and became busier than ever. After Rayan threatened everyone, Sarah, Camilla, and Aurelia stayed quiet for a few days and didn't bother her much; however, they seemed to already be back on their original track. Lily spent most of her days in her room, away from everyone. Her days were mostly spent chatting with her friends who were still in Canada, talking to her father and little brother, and then waiting for Rayan to be back home so that they could spend some quality time together. Besides, they were already planning for a family, which was why she was being extra cautious. She’s been debating with herself about whether she should talk to Rayan about her moving out or not. How could she suddenly just ask him to move out and be away from his family when she's the one who brought him back here? It wo

Lily slowly opened her eyes while trying to adjust to the sudden flash of daylight. She closed her eyes before reopening them. As she scanned her surroundings, she discovered herself in an unfamiliar room with white ceilings and curtains. It looked like a hospital room. Hospital! As soon as the word crossed her mind, she went through a series of sudden flashbacks, making her remember all the previous events. Her talking to her dad, Amalia calling her for help, Martha, her tripping and then falling into the water. Everything flashed through her head like a series. Her hand moved to her stomach as she tried to feel her baby. It was gone. “My baby!” She cried out, her voice sounding dry and hoarse. Rayan, who was standing in a corner talking to the doctor, immediately turned around after hearing Lily’s voice. She was finally awake. “Lily!” He called her by name while rushing to her side. His heart sank when he found her sobbing while clutching her stomach. “Baby, please calm down. Y

Lily and Rayan’s lives changed drastically after the loss of their unborn child. They immediately moved out of the Allen Estate, much to Benjamin’s protest. As promised, Lily and Rayan spent around a week at Christin’s house before they both finally moved back to the apartment Rayan bought for them. It was a luxurious two-story penthouse. Even though they moved out of that toxic house and those toxic people, their lives didn't go back to the same. The two of them began to change drastically for different reasons. Lily slowly began to lose her spirit and fell into the pit of depression and loneliness while living all by herself in the huge apartment. She had nothing to do the whole day except cook, take care of the plants, and wait for Rayan to come back home. She could only talk to her father and brother over the phone and to the helper, Rosie, who came to help her with the house chores. Her mental state slowly began to worsen as the days passed by. She became more dependent and cli

"Why are we here, Rayan?" Anthea asked the moment she realised where Rayan had brought her! This was the place she dreaded coming to the most. Her father’s grave! Anthea’s mind went blank just thinking of this place. She had never visited this place in the last six years. She just couldn’t go there. Never. It had given her so many memories, sorrows, and pains, along with happiness. "Just trust me, please, baby.""But Rayan, you know I can't." Anthea shook her head; her voice sounded broken and vulnerable. Rayan quickly hugged her, rubbing her back to calm her down. "I know it's hard. But you have to be strong. You are strong. It's high time, Anthea; you need to let this heartbreak go and confront your fear. He's waiting for you, baby," Rayan encouraged while caressing her hair lightly. "You know I can't. It's too painful. I just can't face him, Rayan. How am I going to answer him? He's mad at me, I'm sure. Anthea let out a sob as tears slowly started to fall from her eyes. "Don't

“How did it go?” Anthea asked anxiously as soon as Rayan stepped into the living room. He smiled at her before pulling her into a tight hug. “Everything went well. I have already submitted all the evidence and they are taking the case directly to the court. He wouldn't be able to escape this time.” He answered while burying his face in the crook of his neck, trying to relax. Anthea let out a sigh of relief. “Thank god! You should have taken me with you.” She expressed it heartily while hugging her arms around Rayan’s back. “No! I don't want his dirty eyes to land on you, even for a second. I will take care of everything from here while you just stay here and take care of Nevaeh and our family.” Rayan raised his head and shook it before speaking. Anthea sighed again, totally understanding his concern. “I'm glad finally it's over with the Jones and we can relax.” Anthea smiled, changing the subject as they broke the hug while walking towards the couch. Please raise your arms and cooperate with us.” The officer announced this loudly, grabbing some passersby’s attention who let out visible gasps while witnessing the scene. Sebastian was quite startled too, as he didn't expect some CBI officer to suddenly appear and tell him that he was being arrested. “What?” He looked at the officer in confusion, not understanding what was going on. “Handcuff him.” The officer ignored his words as he gestured

After the dinner ended, everyone was sitting around and casually chatting when Roman got up from his seat before walking towards Rayan, who was talking to Elijah. “Can I talk to you for a few minutes?” Roman asked Rayan after reaching him. He excused himself from Elijah before nodding politely at Roman. “Of course.” He answered, making Roman nod. Elijah excused himself before giving them some space to talk. “Let's go somewhere quiet.” Roman offered, making Rayan nod. They were about to walk out of the VIP dining lounge when Anthea’s sudden voice stopped them. “Where are you two going?” She asked, looking at them with a frown. Rayan was about to answer her when Roman beat him to it. “Smoking!” Rayan blurted out while trying to cover something from Anthea. The moment the answer left his mouth, Anthea’s eyes narrowed as she looked at her husband with a scowl. “Rayan! I told you to quit smoking.” She glared at him, looking totally pissed. “Anthea, Rayan!” Athena greeted her enthusiastically as soon as Anthea, Rayan, and Nevaeh stepped into the private dining room. “Hey!” Anthea smiled while walking towards her, while Rayan stayed behind her, holding Nevaeh. “We were waiting for you!” Athena said, smiling heartily. Anthea smiled back, her eyes shifting to Roman, Elijah, and Emilia, who were already sitting on the chairs. Emilia waved her hand slightly when she met Anthea’s gaze. “Oh my God! Athena was totally awestruck by the sight of Nevaeh. “Yeah!” Anthea nodded with a chuckle, while Rayan smiled. “Nevaeh, say hi to your uncles and aunts." Anthea turned around before instructing Nevaeh with a smile. She looked at her mother before looking at Athena, who was still looking at her with a smile. “Hi!” She grinned shyly while trying to hide behind her father. Rayan let out a

“You didn't tell me you were coming here.” Rayan asked in surprise when he met Anthea in the hallway of the hospital. He was just returning after checking in with his father. He thought she would be going to the office directly after meeting Silas. “Because I knew I would find you here.” Anthea replied with a barely visible smile on her face. Rayan already noticed her dim expression, causing him to frown in concern. “Is everything okay?” He asked, walking towards her before holding her hand. Anthea glanced at him before nodding her head slightly. “Yeah. How is Mr. Allen?” She asked, trying to change the subject. Rayan also realised it but said nothing. He quietly followed her back to the VIP ward. “Better than before. He will be moved to the general word tonight after they did some last inspection.” He replied while intertwining his hands with her. “That's good news.” Anthea nodded, a genuine smile spreading across her lips at the good news. “You know where. How could you forget what you went through because of him? If it wasn't for family and me, Silas didn't finish his sentence and stopped midway when he noticed Anthea's eyes glaring sharply at him.“So you really think that just because you helped me in my darkest phase, you have some sort of right over me?” Anthea asked, her eyes flashing with coldness at the sudden realisation. “Anthea!” Silas uttered, looking at her with a blank expression. Anthea couldn't read what was running inside her head but at the moment, she barely cared. “Answer me, Silas. Is that what you think?” Anthea pressed further, her expression remaining the same. At that moment, she was sure about one thing: Rayan didn't lie or misunderstand anything. It was she who was blind and delusional. She couldn't see the truth, which was already before her eyes. “Did Rayan tell you this?” Silas suddenly asked back, his expression hardening. He didn't expect that son of a bitch, Rayan, to vomit every sin

He should have known better. “What the hell!” Anthea stared at him in shock. “You don't believe me?” Rayan’s face hardened as he noticed the disbelief in her eyes. She was unwilling to believe him, which meant she trusted that bastard over him. Anthea shook her head immediately. “No! It's not like that.
