The next morning, Nevaeh woke up first, and Anthea followed after. She took Nevaeh to the kitchen to feed her something since she was feeling hungry. Rayan was still in bed when they left the bedroom. They were supposed to leave for the city after having their lunch. Rayan was still asleep when his phone began ringing. Without opening his eyes, he reached for his hand before clumsily grabbing the phone. He answered the call without bothering to check the caller ID.

“Hello?” Rayan mumbled sleepily with his eyes still closed. It was around 7 in the morning, and he had plenty of time before getting up.

“Rayan! Come home fast!” Amalia’s panicked voice greeted Rayan, making him frown.

“Amalia? What happened?” He asked, his voice still hoarse from sleepiness. However, his eyes were already wide open when he heard her suddenly crying from the other side.

“Dad! He's not responding. He's not waking up.” Amalia sobbed hysterically while calling Benjamin from time to time. Rayan’s expression

“How is that possible?” Rayan asked, looking astonished by the information. How could someone poison Benjamin under their own roof? “That's not possible.” Amalia gasped, shuddering at the news. This was something totally unexpected. There was no way someone could poison Benjamin when they were all around. They didn't see any sign of him being sick or affected. He was completely fine yesterday. “It's true. We found Trerdaxol in his blood. It's a slow poison that becomes very dangerous with time. It can lead to kidney and liver failures.” Richard confirmed, maintaining his professional tone, that he explained everything to them. Anthea, on the other hand, looked too shocked to react. Just yesterday, he saw Benjamin walking fine, yet today they were hearing he had been poisoned. “For how long is he being poisoned?” Rayan asked after managing to compose himself. The darkness on his face was completely unmasked. “Around three months, I guess. It takes around five to six months for the

“What are you doing here?” Rayan asked as soon as his eyes landed on Silas. There was an unmistakable hostility in his eyes, directed towards Silas. “Mr Allen! Long time, no see. I heard the news of your father and came for a visit.” Silas replied, his expression neutral. But Rayan didn't miss the brief flash of hostility in his eyes, which he thought he perfectly hid. "Well, you didn't need to. No one asked for your presence here.” Rayan snapped, narrowing his eyes at Silas. He didn't bother hiding his irritation, which surprised Silas. He knew Rayan didn't like him, and the feeling was mutual. However, he didn't expect him to show it blatantly in front of Anthea. “Rayan!” Anthea raised her voice, her expression turning into a scowl as she looked at him in disbelief. Rayan glanced at her but didn't say anything. “What are you doing?” Anthea asked, walking towards him. There was a flash of disappointment in her eyes, which caused Rayan’s face to harden. “What am I doing?” He scof

“How is dad?” Rayan asked as soon as he met Richard in the hallway of the VIP ward. He was just returning to the hospital with Anthea from home. It's been three days since Benjamin was out of the ICU. “He's out of danger, thankfully. We just shifted him to the general ward.” Richard answered with a smile, making Rayan sigh out of relief. Anthea also relaxed, feeling a heavy burden get off her chest. They were all terrified for the last three days because of Benjamin’s critical condition. “Is he conscious?” Rayan asked after a moment of silence. “Yes. He gained consciousness half an hour ago. You guys can meet him, but be careful. He shouldn't be stressed at any cost.” Richard informed and then advised seriously. Both Rayan and Anthea nodded, taking notes on his words. “I understand. Thank you, Richard.” Rayan offered Richard a faint smile. “You are welcome.” Richard smiled back before walking away, leaving Rayan and Anthea alone. “You should go and meet him.” Anthea was encourag

“Anthea!” Someone called Anthea's name loudly when she was sitting in the lounge of the hospital alone. She looked up before glancing at the source of the voice. “Emi!” Anthea looked at Emilia in surprise while standing up from her seat. Emilia rushed to her before pulling her into a hug, while Silas followed behind her.“What's happening?” She asked, looking at Anthea's dishevelled state. There were dried tears staining her face. “He had a sudden cardiac arrest.” Anthea replied with a sigh as they pulled apart. She glanced at Silas, who was standing a few meters away, before nodding at him in acknowledgement. “Oh my god! How is he now?” Emilia asked, looking genuinely shocked and concerned. “They managed to stabilize him but took him back to the ICU.” Anthea replied, taking a long breath. Emilia squeezed her hands lightly, trying to comfort her. However, her heart and mind were in chaos after whatever happened in the morning. Rayan was blaming himself for Benjamin’s sudden condit

Rayan’s expression suddenly darkened as she marched towards Silas before punching him square in the jaw. “RAYAN!” Anthea shouted his name in horror. “How dare you lay your hands on my wife?” Rayan shouted, punching Silas once again. Anthea looked completely mortified as she rushed towards Rayan to stop him. “OH GOD, RAYAN! STOP!” She shouted, standing between Rayan and Silas and stopping him from hitting Silas again. Rayan looked too mad to stop! Anthea had no choice but to push him back while glaring at him angrily. “What the hell is wrong with you?” Anthea yelled furiously at Rayan while glancing at Silas, who was currently wiping the blood off his lips. Her heart sank at the sight of his swollen jaw. “Leave me!” Rayan gritted out, looking equally at him. Anthea didn't understand why Rayan was suddenly getting so agitated. His eyes basically darkened as he started at Silas. Anthea couldn't see Silas’s expression because she was currently facing her husband. “Don't hit him!” An

“Silas, I'm really, really sorry! Gosh, it must be hurting.” Anthea apologized again and again while applying ointment to Silas’s wound. They were currently in Emilia’s apartment. Anthea brought Silas here to treat his wound first. Her heart was getting heavy with guilt each time she saw Silas’s face.“It's okay, Anthea. It's not your fault, and it's nothing.” Silas chuckled lightly while wincing in pain every time Anthea put some medicine on his jaw. “No. He's my husband, and I should be apologizing on his behalf. I don't know what has gotten into him recently.” Anthea shook her head while speaking. She quickly finished applying the medicine to him. Silas sighed. Something closer to jealousy flashed in his eyes, which Anthea failed to notice. “Was he always like this? I mean, I don't really like the way he was shouting at you. He needs to control his anger.” Silas asked, pointing out Rayan’s previous rough behavior. Anthea heaved a sigh. “He's not always like this. In fact, Rayan

A sly grin appeared on his face as he looked at Rayan provocatively before answering his question. “In my place,” he said with a devilish smirk playing on the corner of his lips. Rayan’s expression blackened with anger. “Do you want me to kill you?”He gritted out in a low, dangerous voice while taking a threatening step towards Silas. If there was anyone else in his place, they would have been really scared, but not Silas. “Calm down, Mr. Allen. Do you think Anthea will forgive you if you lay your hands on me again? ”Silas chuckled, his expression flashing with mockery as he looked at Rayan. Rayan’s expression turned blank as he remembered what happened in the afternoon. He had been trying to contact her for the last three hours, but she completely shut him off and refused to talk to him. He even went to Silas house and realised she wasn't there. That bastard had lied to him. “No! She doesn't want to talk to you right now.” Emilia refused, stopping Rayan from entering her apartment. She didn't know what happened between them again but Anthea was terrilbly upset. She didn't even talk to Roman, Elijah, and Athena, who came to New York two hours ago. “Emilia, please. "Why are we here, Rayan?" Anthea asked the moment she realised where Rayan had brought her! This was the place she dreaded coming to the most. Her father’s grave! Anthea’s mind went blank just thinking of this place. She had never visited this place in the last six years. She just couldn’t go there. Never. It had given her so many memories, sorrows, and pains, along with happiness. "Just trust me, please, baby.""But Rayan, you know I can't." Anthea shook her head; her voice sounded broken and vulnerable. Rayan quickly hugged her, rubbing her back to calm her down. "I know it's hard. But you have to be strong. You are strong. It's high time, Anthea; you need to let this heartbreak go and confront your fear. He's waiting for you, baby," Rayan encouraged while caressing her hair lightly. "You know I can't. It's too painful. I just can't face him, Rayan. How am I going to answer him? He's mad at me, I'm sure. Anthea let out a sob as tears slowly started to fall from her eyes. "Don't

“How did it go?” Anthea asked anxiously as soon as Rayan stepped into the living room. He smiled at her before pulling her into a tight hug. “Everything went well. I have already submitted all the evidence and they are taking the case directly to the court. He wouldn't be able to escape this time.” He answered while burying his face in the crook of his neck, trying to relax. Anthea let out a sigh of relief. “Thank god! You should have taken me with you.” She expressed it heartily while hugging her arms around Rayan’s back. “No! I don't want his dirty eyes to land on you, even for a second. I will take care of everything from here while you just stay here and take care of Nevaeh and our family.” Rayan raised his head and shook it before speaking. Anthea sighed again, totally understanding his concern. “I'm glad finally it's over with the Jones and we can relax.” Anthea smiled, changing the subject as they broke the hug while walking towards the couch. Sebastian, who was surprised by the sudden unwanted visit, looked at the ID card of the man and realised they were from the Central Bureau of Investigation. “What brings you here, Officer?” Sebastian asked, trying to smile politely at them, but deep down he already had an ominous feeling rising inside his chest. “You are under arrest. Please raise your arms and cooperate with us.” The officer announced this loudly, grabbing some passersby’s attention who let out visible gasps while witnessing the scene. Sebastian was quite startled too, as he didn't expect some CBI officer to suddenly appear and tell him that he was being arrested. “What?” He looked at the officer in confusion, not understanding what was going on. “Handcuff him.” The officer ignored his words as he gestured

After the dinner ended, everyone was sitting around and casually chatting when Roman got up from his seat before walking towards Rayan, who was talking to Elijah. “Can I talk to you for a few minutes?” Roman asked Rayan after reaching him. He excused himself from Elijah before nodding politely at Roman. “Of course.” He answered, making Roman nod. Elijah excused himself before giving them some space to talk. “Let's go somewhere quiet.” Roman offered, making Rayan nod. They were about to walk out of the VIP dining lounge when Anthea’s sudden voice stopped them. “Where are you two going?” She asked, looking at them with a frown. Rayan was about to answer her when Roman beat him to it. “Smoking!” Rayan blurted out while trying to cover something from Anthea. The moment the answer left his mouth, Anthea’s eyes narrowed as she looked at her husband with a scowl. “Rayan! I told you to quit smoking.” She glared at him, looking totally pissed. Rayan sighed as he looked at her angry expre

“Anthea, Rayan!” Athena greeted her enthusiastically as soon as Anthea, Rayan, and Nevaeh stepped into the private dining room. “Hey!” Anthea smiled while walking towards her, while Rayan stayed behind her, holding Nevaeh. “We were waiting for you!” Athena said, smiling heartily. Anthea smiled back, her eyes shifting to Roman, Elijah, and Emilia, who were already sitting on the chairs. Emilia waved her hand slightly when she met Anthea’s gaze. “Oh my God! Athena was totally awestruck by the sight of Nevaeh. “Yeah!” Anthea nodded with a chuckle, while Rayan smiled. “Nevaeh, say hi to your uncles and aunts." Anthea turned around before instructing Nevaeh with a smile. She looked at her mother before looking at Athena, who was still looking at her with a smile. “Hi!” She grinned shyly while trying to hide behind her father. Rayan let out a

He thought she would be going to the office directly after meeting Silas. “Because I knew I would find you here.” Anthea replied with a barely visible smile on her face. Rayan already noticed her dim expression, causing him to frown in concern. “Is everything okay?” He asked, walking towards her before holding her hand. Anthea glanced at him before nodding her head slightly. “Yeah. How is Mr. Allen?” She asked, trying to change the subject. Rayan also realised it but said nothing. He quietly followed her back to the VIP ward. “Better than before. He will be moved to the general word tonight after they did some last inspection.” He replied while intertwining his hands with her. “That's good news.” Anthea nodded, a genuine smile spreading across her lips at the good news. It didn't even pass 48 hours and his c

“You know where. How could you forget what you went through because of him? If it wasn't for family and me, Silas didn't finish his sentence and stopped midway when he noticed Anthea's eyes glaring sharply at him.“So you really think that just because you helped me in my darkest phase, you have some sort of right over me?” Anthea asked, her eyes flashing with coldness at the sudden realisation. “Anthea!” Silas uttered, looking at her with a blank expression. Anthea couldn't read what was running inside her head but at the moment, she barely cared. “Answer me, Silas. Is that what you think?” Anthea pressed further, her expression remaining the same. At that moment, she was sure about one thing: Rayan didn't lie or misunderstand anything. It was she who was blind and delusional. She couldn't see the truth, which was already before her eyes. “Did Rayan tell you this?” Silas suddenly asked back, his expression hardening. He didn't expect that son of a bitch, Rayan, to vomit every sin

She noticed Rayan’s face hardening as soon as the words left her mouth. For a moment, he didn't say anything. “Okay. I'm going to the hospital to check on Dad. She didn't receive any news on him from the moment she left the hospital with Silas. “He's improving.” Rayan muttered while taking a turn. The address Anthea showed him wasn't far. “I'm glad to hear that.” She sighed in relief, knowing Benjamin was getting well. She just hoped nothing bad would happen and he would eventually recover. He shouldn't have listened to that bastard in the first place. He should have known better. “What the hell!” Anthea stared at him in shock. “You don't believe me?” Rayan’s face hardened as he noticed the disbelief in her eyes. She was unwilling to believe him, which meant she trusted that bastard over him. Anthea shook her head immediately. “No! It's not like that. Why would he say something like that?” She denied it before inquiring. Rayan’s expression changed again as he took a step back from her; however, his eyes never left her. “Because he wants to provoke me and create misunderstandings between us.” He answered while grinding his teeth. Anthea frowned as disbelief crossed her eyes. “What are you saying, Rayan? Silas would never do something like that.” She shook her head, trying to deny everything Rayan just said. Ther
