We are getting married

Kathleen

“Ma'am, its been thirty minutes already you have to decide if you are going through with this or not.”

I slowly blinked at the man. “Oh.”

“Yeah. You can go back and come some other time.”

No. That won't do. “I'm ready.”

He nods. “Come this way.” He guides me through a corridor into a brightly lit room.

“You'll go change in that room.”

And so I did.

Soon after I was on the bed with my eyes fixated on the ceiling.

I breathed in deeply and closed my eyes.

It's finally happening.

After this,I'll be able to go back to my life without any worries. I won't consider myself a failure. My parents will not be ashamed.

Sure I'll need to attend confession but God always forgives the sinners, right? and I choose to believe that he understands my reason.

“Imma need you to relax.” The man's voice cut across, breaking my train of thoughts.

I snap my eyes open and shift on the bed.

“Sorry.”

“It's Understandable. “ He replies with a kind smile.

I lay back down and wait.

If I walk out of here alive and no excess bleeding,I won't be having sex ever until I get married. Not even a kiss will be shared between me and any man.

“We shall start with-” He pauses to listen to the outside.

“Whats-”

“You cannot. It is my child in there so I have all the rights to be here.”

My body jerks up at the voice.

The man shares a look with me before proceeding to the door.

“Sir? May I hel-”

Kian roughly brushed past him successfullymaking him tumble. He stood inches from me, his hands planted on his waist and his brown eyes burning with rage.

I recoiled from his passionate gaze as if it was actually burning me.

“W-what?”

“What?!” He scoffs. “That's what you are going to ask me?”

He comes closer and grabs my wrist, pulling me up from the bed. “We are leaving.”

“No.” I yank my arm from his grip.

His whole frame was now towering over me. “We. Are. Leaving.”

“You are leaving.”

“You are pregnant so don't push the urge to take me over my knees and spank you.”

My eyes go wide. His words replay in my head and my face ends up settling into a frown.

“No.” I scream. “God no! You are not doing such a thing not now,not ever. I got enough of those when I was young.”

“You are carrying my child and I forbid you from going through with this abortion.”

“I am making my own choice in this Kian.”

“And I deserve to be involved. It's not like you made the baby alone.”

I fall silent.

“What I thought. Let's go.”

he takes my hand in his but I let it slip out. His eyes snap to me.

“I can walk by myself.”

I give an apology to the man at the door.

“This makes me happy rather than sad.” The doctor replies with glimmer in his eyes. I roll mine and walk out.

“You should have told me.” He speaks slowly.

“Why? You don't want to have a family and you are getting married because of business.”

“Fair argument but that does not change the fact that I am the father.”

“I don't want my child to suffer,Kian. I'm also not ready to be a mother. I don't even know how to be a mother!”

I quickly brush my tears from my cheeks. He gently holds my arms and pulls me against his chest.

“Our child is not going to suffer. That much I promise.”

I pull back to meet his gaze.

…wait, how did he know about this?

“Josh called you?”

“He used your phone actually.”

I'll kill him on the first chance I get.

He opens the door and I settle in the passenger seat. Any resistance would attract attention, I got enough of that from home as well.

“I didn't know what else to do.” I whisper hoping he hears me.

“You did, Kathleen. Only that you did not want that choice.”

I hate how right he is.

“You are engaged.” I state as a matter of fact.

“You can be the second wife.”

My eyes snap to him. His remained focuser on the road.

“I can't tell if you are serious or not. Either way, I refuse.”

“It's going to be okay, Williams.” He reassured.

My heart clenched and I sniffled, feeling the tears on my cheeks.

“I can't be pregnant.  I shouldn't be. I'm only twenty five and… no,”

He hits the break so hard that I went flying to the front but his reflex were fast enough that I did not hit my head.

“God!” I scream. “If you wanted me dead then you'd have allowed me to ho ahead with my plans and pray that I die in the process!” By the time I was done I was gasping for air and hitting my chest to calm my breathe.

“You, you are twenty five?” He asked cautiously, like that was a line he wasn't supposed to cross.

“What? Do I look old?”

“No,I, I'm thirty five.”

All the tears dry up. I stare at him hoping he would change that answer.

I blinked once and waited.

“You are not joking,are you?”

He shakes his head.

“Great, now I'm associated with an old man.” I look outside.

“I want to prepare you mentally.” He spoke after a while, totally ignoring my comment.

“For what?”

“Marriage. We are getting married.”
