Chapter 10: Searching For The Culprit 

"What do you mean by you don't know how it happened?" Xavier thundered angrily at Mr. Leonard, the director of the company that assures the shipment of his goods from the manufacturing countries to New York City.

"Believe me, sir, we checked the ship thoroughly before it left the berth with the goods; it's not today that we started working together, and you know that I can never be careless with your goods," the director said to Xavier, who was still fuming in anger while glaring daggers at him.

In the current situation in which he was, he was the only one who knew the negative effect it was going to have on both his legal and illegal businesses.

Lately, he has succeeded in securing contracts with three of the hardest and most dangerous business tycoons in New York City. After countless hours of persuasion, they finally ordered goods from his company, and in order to establish the contract, they paid half of the amount for the goods. Now all he needed to do was deliver the goods to them in order to receive the remaining payment and also come to terms with the contract.

If he had succeeded in delivering the goods to them, he was sure of making one of the biggest and historical profits he had ever made since when he took over his father's textile company, that would also be the beginning of long term partnership with these business tycoons; but right now everything have been ruined, even if he decides to order the goods once again, there's no way the goods would reach New York City the same day or the following day, the transportation lasted at least a week and in addition to that, he had utilized a very huge amount of money from his company and savings to complete with the one that was paid by the buyers in order to order for the goods they wanted and right now the only two options he has is to either repay the buyers or order for the goods again and any of this two options is going to affect him critically and if he's not careful, his company might go bankrupt.

"If you had checked the ships thoroughly, just as you said, then how did they manage to sink? You owe me an explanation for that, or am I wrong? And don't even think about telling me that there was a storm or something like that," Xavier said to Mr. Leonard threateningly.

"Actually, there was nothing of such; after the ships sank, I sent some of my men to go and investigate the issue and to also find out what caused the ships to sink.

"So, what did they find out?" Xavier chipped in, motioning for him to go straight to the point.

"Well, according to them, it seems like someone caused the ships to sink; the sheep detector detected some human presence under the ocean, but before they could act, it was already too late; the ships were already sinking, and the sailors had no choice but to run for their lives," Mr. Leonard explained to Xavier.

"Are you sure of what you are saying?" Xavier asked Mr. Leonard with furrowed brows.

"Yes, sir, as for now, they still know nothing about the people that were under the ocean, but my men are investigating it; they will have a result soon," Mr. Leonard said to Xavier.

"Find out who it was unless you want to pay for the goods; even though you sell this company if it's yours, you won't still be able to afford those goods," Xavier said to him before standing up.

"I will also try investigating it from my own side; if by any chance you guys find out who was behind it, don't take any action; just let me know. I will take care of the person by myself," he said to him.

"Don't worry, sir, we are going to find out who is behind this as soon as possible; you can count on me for that," Mr. Leonard said to Xavier, who was already walking out of his office. Once Xavier left, Mr. Leonard heaved a sigh of relief before leaning back on his chair.

"Boss, what did he say?" Ben asked Xavier once he came out of the office.

"It seems like someone is planning to ruin us; don't you find it strange that only our ships sank while those of the others arrived here without any issues?" Xavier asked Ben, his personal guard.

"Of course I find it strange; it seems like someone was behind the sinking of the ships," Ben said to Xavier.

"It doesn't seem like someone did it, but it's very clear that someone was behind it," Xavier said to Ben as they were walking out of the company.

"But do you have any idea of who it might be?" Ben asked Xavier.

"No, but I need you to find out who it was. For over ten years now, no one has ever dared attack me directly in this manner. I wonder who had the guts to awaken the sleeping Lion," Xavier said to Ben before entering the back seat, and immediately Ben took over the steering.

"Don't worry, boss, we are soon going to find out who it is, and when we do, we will show whosoever it is, who is the real boss in New York City," Ben said to Xavier, who sighed heavily before leaning back on the seat with thousands of thoughts running through his mind, since when he became a CEO, this was his first time facing a situation like this one, a situation in which the only two ways out are deadly.

Finding the person who sank his ships was one of his problems, but that wasn't his main problem. His main problem was figuring out how he was going to tell all his clients when their goods sank and how he was going to prevent the present situation from tarnishing his image and that of his company.
