Dior chose a very good place because this residential area used to be the most populated. It is really good for hiding without caring about the zombies surrounding it. Also, because it was a residential area, the houses used to have vegetable gardens in their backyards. Though thick grasses has grown beside them, it was easy to clean them all up and harvest some vegetables. But it is definitely not enough.

“Dior, can we go back there? Let's get the apples and water.” Approaching Dior, she spoke pointing the place they were before.

Dior's eyebrow twitched, apparently still confused what she was saying. Farrah was patient and repeated her questions, but this time, with an example. She gestured as if she's eating something then pointed the direction they came from.

It seems that this time, he finally understood. He marched outside, and called out several zombies. The lower-level zombies scrambled as they ran towards Dior.

“Ggggrr...” Dior growled in unknown language.

Farrah thought she was hallucinating. The scene where his eyes speaks emotions kept playing in her mind even until this moment that a day had already passed. Just when she's about to lose hope for their future, her husband came back. He didn't disappoint her and came back for her. Dior is getting back his human nature, and how to do so? Kill higher-level zombies and eat their nucleus. Her theory before was actually correct. It is indeed the reason why Dior managed to regain even just a bit of human consciousness. Right now, he's like a 3-4-year-old kid. He wasn't able to talk straight but he knew a few words such as food and danger. He also knew his nickname for Farrah, which is Fae. There's nothing more rewarding than this. To know that Dior wasn't a hopeless case and now obviously acting human, Farrah is on cloud nine. Many changes could be seen in his body. His skin was no longer as pale as before, and his veins turned back to their natural color. He looked human now, though th

  • Dawn   XXII. Tricked

Farrah and Dior has reached another city. The population here was no less than T City. When the zombies following them arrived here, the numbers doubled and made it the most dangerous place than T City.Farrah's attention wasn't focus on this though.“Why did you order that two zombies to go back to the apartment?” She questioned, not really hoping for an answer.Dior huffed, “They, attack, surprise...” He croaked, gesturing with his hands. He thought Farrah didn't understand so he added. “...Danger. us. Danger.”“You mean they're people wanting to surprise attack, so we are in danger?” Farrah exclaimed, marveling how amazing Dior to know easily if someone's plotting his demise. But who could it be? Surely it wasn't Red Dragon. They might be strong, but they were nothing against Dior. Could it be another group?

  • Dawn   XXIII. Survivors

Days passed like nothing, but what surprised Farrah the most was the fact that even when Dior turned into a zombie, the compatibility of them haven't decreased. They pretty much survived several days in strange life pattern, though not easy. Knowing that some people wanted to kill them, Farrah decided not to stay permanently in one place, and tonight, they plan to move to another place again.Though there's still a language barrier between them, Dior pretty much just listened to all of her commands. He acts like a bodyguard ready to protect her whenever there's even just a little bit danger.“The moon is beautiful tonight,” Farrah suddenly spoke as they walk in the middle of the road. Dior paused, with a bewildered look on his face.“Yeah, moon, beautiful...” He eventually replied, nodding like a chick pecking at rice. Farrah almost burst out laughing with his reply.

  • Dawn   XXIV. What's There To Doubt

Yuan and Ysa decided to stay for 3 days in Farrah and Dior's home. Though Farrah were a bit hesitant since Dior wasn't completely human, she ended up agreeing with the siblings' request for shelter seeing the two pair of pleading and pitiful eyes.As payment, Yuan gave them half of their food supply hidden in their space storage. Farrah accepted it with a wide smile, one of her worries relieved. Dior bristles with annoyance, but under Farrah's reproaching look, he ended up ignoring them as if they didn't exist. This indifferent attitude didn't affect the two siblings though, especially Ysa, who's eyes are always plastered on Dior's body everywhere he goes. Farrah noticed it quickly, but did not say anything. She thought she's just amazed by Dior's beauty, so she decided to close one eye on it.When the night came, a very special and warm dinner were placed on the table. Farrah sat beside Dior, contemplating how to deceive the tw

  • Dawn   XXV. Dead?

Seeing that Dior could not be enticed, Ysa seems to have woken up from her dream and stopped approaching him altogether. Maybe her pride was shattered by his avoidance so she stopped leaving her room in shame. Farrah scoffed at this, while Dior remained non-committal.The next day, the two left Farrah and Dior's apartment. Before they left, Yuan repeatedly apologized. Farrah waved it off and let the two move their way out.Seeing them finally disappear, Dior huffed with satisfaction. Farrah noticed it and smiled. “You're really that happy they're now gone, huh. You really don't like them, do you?”Dior frowned, shooking his head. The moment he saw the two of them, what he felt first was disdain and natural dislike. He didn't understand why Farrah was willing to take care of them, but since she decided it, Dior didn't stop her. He just acted like they didn't exist.A week

  • Dawn   XXVI. Ceremony

The first thing Ferdinad did was to calm down. He cleared his thoughts and looked at Twilight with dead serious eyes, eyes colder than ice. “What happened, tell me. How did you confirm she's dead?”He needed to make sure. After all, Farrah promised him that she will probably stay there for three months. What if she just separated with her group, and Twilight thought she disappeared and already dead?Farrah is searching for Dior, so sooner or later, she had to part ways with her temporary team. Maybe, she's just there, still looking for Dior?Twilight saw his thoughts and cleared her throat. “Alright. Take a seat first, Mr. Luman.”Ferdinand didn't budge, silently staring at Twilight while patting DaeDae's back. “No need. I don't care if I have to stand up, sit, or kneel. What's important right now is to know what happened to my daughter. Don't try to stall. Explain clear

  • Dawn   XXVII. Familiar

They spent the night inside the unfinished building. When morning came both of them managed to capture a rabbit, thankfully, it wasn't infected. It probably stayed far away from the city and managed to avoid getting infected. Infected animals usually die after being infected, and though infection to animals weren't as dangerous as the humans', it is still a threat for Farrah.Dior didn't dare to neglect and quickly examined the rabbit. Seeing it was safe and clean, they quickly cleaned and cooked it above a hot bonfire. Poor little rabbit.Caressing her bulging stomach, Farrah scooted closer to Dior. “We'll stay here for a week, and if nothing happens, we will go back directly. Anyway, where's your phone? The one that you used to call me?” Farrah questioned, wrapping her hands on Dior's sturdy waist.Dior pinched Farrah's waist, making the latter squeal. “...I forgot already. I seem to

  • Dawn   XXVIII. Scouting Team

Few days later, several bases sent their most elite warriors to C City, and the Governess mobilized them quickly. She sent three powerful groups to the city where they last saw the monarch, fully prepared and ready for a large scale fight.Farrah and Dior continued their 'vacation' in light-hearted manner. Because they're under the sun too often, both of them had tanned considerably. It covered Dior's natural paleness and turned him into his old tanned self.Looking happy and satisfied, Dior looked at his skin with a grin. “Now, this is really the color that suits me. I'm not a vampire, why should I be so pale?”“Pale or tanned, you both looked handsome so don't worry.”“You really think I'm handsome, huh? Good to know!”“Of course! Should I call you ugly then?” Farrah snickered.Dior gave him

  • Dawn   XLVII. STRUGGLE

“The world is already at its end, why struggle?” the female monster asked, even though she doesn’t seem to be desiring an answer. She just gazed at Twilight with amusement and curiosity, as if she was interested in how Twilight could still live in this state. She was also very surprised by the fact that Twilight didn’t end up infected even when she had used her virus on Twilight’s wounds. Yet she didn’t fall down as she expected her to.“Who told you that?” Twilight sneered as if she had heard the most ridiculous joke in the world. “This is not the end yet, we’re just starting a new beginning,” Twilight stood up, her whole body bathed in blood. Her comrades had long fallen, and their safety is uncertain so it was either flight or fight for her. Unfortunately, she wasn’t fond of escaping. A red dragon never escapes. It shall stay in the battle, victorious or defeated.“You really think you can defeat me? Haha! The previous monarch might have stood a chance, but you? I can crush you to a

  • Dawn   XVII. Overwhelmed

Farrah pursed her lips, staring blankly at her zombified husband. It hasn't sunk in, but she's getting there. It's definitely better than him being a mindless monster. Though it seems that he really doesn't remember her anymore, at least he wasn't attacking her for now. Dior wasn't doing anything in particular. He was just there, sitting in one corner, dazed and looking like he's lost in his own world. Sometimes he would suddenly growl at Farrah, then would quieten as if nothing happened, seemingly wanting to communicate with her but unable to. The big reversal of things left Farrah overwhelmed too, so she also didn't speak but just continued to watch her husband in silence. She's unsure of what entails this discovery of hers, but she's d*mn well aware she wouldn't give him up in this life. If he could retain a bit of human instincts, it just means there's a huge possibility that he could become a human again—Farrah just needed to find how and why. She just needed that information

  • Dawn   XVIII. Agila

Because there's no clothes around, Dior had to stand naked inside the room. Farrah had to stop herself from laughing and quickly checked if she had wounds in her hand before washing his clothes. She was naturally careful not to get infected, but it didn't hinder her trying to get close to her husband. Using her ability, he managed to wrung out the dampness from the clothes and made it dry in just few minutes. After that, she dressed him again and comb his now long hair with her fingers. “You looked like DaeDae, but as an adult version.” She eventually spoke, amused. Their son is a kid version of Dior, from his temperament to his mannerims. They're indeed father and son. “...Dior, I know there's still a little bit of human consciousness in you.” Caressing Dior's cheek, she leaned her forehead on his and smiled. The coldness of his skin made Farrah feel pain for her husband.“Will you please give me just a hint on how did you do it? How did you understand me?” Silence. Farrah knew i

  • Dawn   XLVI. Two Roads

When Dior met Farrah, he thought she'll just be another people that will gradually leave him as time passes by. He thought during those times that he and Farrah was together fighting with their lives hanging on thin threads, maybe someday, when Farrah doesn't need him anymore, she'll leave him just like those people who abandoned him without looking back. He repeatedly told himself not to get to attached, but like a moth to the fire, he still fell for Farrah, and even if he didn't know what future was waiting for the both of them, he chose to take the risk. Fortunately, Farrah was different. She never left. She reciprocated his feelings, and stayed by his side. Nothing can compare to that feeling he had the moment Farrah said she's willing to be with him. Being together with Farrah gave him life, and gave him power to continue, as they face the unknown dangers of the apocalypse. When David came, Dior promised to himself to protect his family, and never let harm come their way. He s

  • Dawn   XLIV. Despair

They wanted to fight poison with poison. But how can they defeat the zombie monarch if the poison they needed isn’t waking up? Everyone was tense, and while waiting for Dior to wake up, they had begun their full offense against the surge of undead led by the new monarch. In the north, Major General has dropped TNTs to cities under the undead’s forces. Though it eliminated a lot of zombies, it really wasn’t enough to defend all their remaining cities against the onslaught of zombies. In the west, several elite ability-holders were in a rapid and intense fight against some high-level zombies. Groups like Red Dragon were there to kill all the zombies, disregarding their life and death. Groups like Agila, under the threat of death, worked with the government. A lot of civilians with mundane abilities volunteered to protect their bases and their people, even if it meant dying along the way. In the east, where the zombie monarch is attacking, they concentrate there all the soldiers. There w

The night is strangely silent, as if there’s no signs of life at the moment. Not even the sound of wind, the pleasant sound of leaves flapping with each other, or the sound of occasional crickets and cicadas. The gatekeepers didn’t dare to neglect their jobs, vigilantly scanning the surrounding area in every corner of the H City Base. Despite the tiredness and exhaustion, they endured and never stopped being on guard knowing that it was their family and loved ones staying inside the base, and only by doing their jobs they can protect these people relying on them. The night patrols are still surveying the nearby areas, and nothing dangerous has been spotted aside from some weak undeads roaming around. They quickly took care of it and finally sighed in relief. They also knew what had happened to their neighboring base who was attacked by an unknown group of undeads, and feared that it was them who’s getting atta

  • Dawn   XLII. Fluctuations

Something huge is happening at J City. The fluctuations of energy is the proof of this. While the rest of the people paid it no mind, the higher-ups are clearly shaken by this phenomenon. In order to prevent “unnecessary” panic, the government didn't announce to public what they thought about this matter.Only they knew what this phenomenon pose such great threat towards humanity. But before everyone could investigate what it is, the fluctuations in the air disappeared like it never appeared in the first place. Like a dream, but everyone knew it wasn't. It was real, and the threat it has over them is real too.“What exactly happened?” The Governess gripped her pen tightly, with tight brows and pursed lips. Her eyes looked exhausted, but thriving. Her subordinate didn't dare to dally and immediately reported the phenomenon from start to finish.“The fluctuatio

Farrah had a headache when she woke up. DaeDae was already awake, bubbling nonsense beside her as he stretch his hands in the air. His feet kept moving around and even accidentally kicking Farrah.Farrah held those feet gently and kisses DaeDae's forehead. “Morning, baby. You looked like you slept very well.”DaeDae giggled, slapping his mother's face with his small yet chubby hands. “Sleep! Well!”Farrah felt that her skull was about to split, and it's too painful for her to bare. She didn't know what happened. Just yesterday, she suddenly felt so weak and light-headed. She thought it's just cold because of the cold weather, but it seems that she thought wrong. The pain was getting worse and worse as time passed by, and now, she couldn't even sit up from her bed.She smiled at DaeDae and tried to stand up, only to lose balance and
