#Chapter284ALIVE“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”“Luca,” Brody snarled in warning, “she’s feeding.”“Why has her scent changed? And why are you so close?”I felt Brody glance over my head, keeping me close to him. When I tried moving back, he pulled me closer.“Feeding can cause feelings, Luca... Feelings that are unwanted.”I bit down a little too hard at his statement. He gripped my hair tight, but not enough to hurt me as he tugged my head back a little.“Shush, not so hard, little wolf,” he whispered, barely audible.I sagged against him and retracted my fangs, but kept close to him so I didn’t have to deal with Luca.“Don’t touch her, Brody.” Luca growled before I heard the door slam.I leaned back with my eyes closed and took deep breaths. I felt alive, I felt better than I have in ages. I was stronger, I could feel it.“You can feed now.” I sighed, pulling away from so we weren’t touching anymore. If he doesn’t want to feel thes
#Chapter285PLAN INTO ACTIONI pulled on the hoodie that Brody tossed me and smiled at him. He told me to choose some of his clothes, because it’s going to get cold. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that when I get my wolf back, all my senses and everything that comes with being a werewolf will come back. I won’t feel the cold, but it was a nice gesture and I appreciate the thought.“I’m going to bring Callie with us,” Brody hesitated as he shoved clothes into his duffel bag, “I can’t leave her here with them.”“Of course, I wouldn’t expect you to leave her here.” I replied. “How old is she?”“She’s five.” He answered.I smiled, “aw, my brothers are her age. She’ll have someone to play with.”He stared at me, wide eyed and mouth open slightly. I chuckled at his reaction and shook my head.“Corbon and I aren’t the only hybrids,” I explained. “When I told you about my family, I may have left out that my younger brothers are hybrids too, oh and my cousin, but he
#Chapter286IM HERE“This is the cure.” Brody announced, holding up a small plastic tube with orange liquid inside.I nodded, moving closer to him. “How fast will this work?” I asked, lifting my brow as I examined the liquid.I don’t know if it’s only going to bring Allie back into my mind or if it’s going to force a shift. I don’t want to be in the middle of a hallway, out in the open, and suddenly start shifting. One, because I’ll be vulnerable for an attack, and two, I know it’s going to hurt like hell.“I don’t know, Alora.” He answered, grabbing a syringe from beside him.He furrowed his brows as he stared at the tube, “I don’t know how much to give you.”“Just give me all of it,” I shrugged. “Worse case, it doesn’t work.”He sighed, shaking his head. “No, Alora. Worse case, you lost your wolf completely.”I breathed deeply, before exhaling slowly. “It’s a risk I need to take.”I know it’s a lot. It comes with risks, but right now we don’t have my opt
#Chapter287IT'S ON MEOnce we parted ways, with Callie sitting on my back, we started in the direction Brody told us to go. Brody put some clothes in Callie’s backpack for when I needed to shift. I gave all control to Allie, she’s stealthier than me and faster. We crept down the hallways. Allie kept her guard up, listening for any sounds, but it was eerily silent, like no one was around. I know it’s only early, but I expected some to be around.I could see the double doors we had to go through just ahead of us. I sighed out in relief when I noticed a sign on the door saying ‘push’. I won’t have to let Callie down now to pull open the door, she can stay safely on my back.As we got nearer the door, I noticed two figures behind the door. Allie slowed down, a small growl slipped out when we stopped completely beside the door. A small whimper came from Callie, and she clung tighter onto my fur.Allie lowered our body to the ground enough for Callie to climb off. I needed
#Chapter288HUNTI made sure Callie was safely tucked away before I left. The cabin was full of tricks, I was pleasantly surprised. Callie’s dad used to take Brody and her to the cabin. He built a panic room under the stairs. If you don’t know it’s there, you would never know.I made a promise to her that I would bring Brody back to her. I know making a promise like that wasn’t the best choice, but I wasn't lying. I will bring him back to her, one way or another.I lightened my footsteps as I sped through the forest. I made sure I avoided any loose branches, careful not to make any sound. I’d be quicker in my wolf form, but when I find Brody, I want to be able to talk to him.I kept my senses heightened, but the forest was silent and there weren’t any scents either. Not that I could track Brody, he doesn’t have a scent.I had no idea where to start to look for him, so I’m heading back the way we came. If he was coming to us, he’d be on this path too, but he’s not.
#Chapter289ADVENTUREI opened my eyes slowly, blinking a few times. I flexed my fingers, feeling the plush cushions of the sofa.“Brody, she’s awake,” Callie whispered.I turned my head and smiled weakly at Broke as he kneeled at my side. He returned the smile, before sighing heavily and pushing his fingers through his hair.“What happened?” I questioned.I remember finding Brody, feeling weak, and then passing out. I tried reaching Allie, I can still sense her and hear her softly snoring. Whatever we did must have taken it out of her.“You healed me, Alora.” He answered. “Did you know you had healing powers?”I raised my brows at him.“No, I didn’t know I had any powers. There hasn’t ever been a hybrid before, so who knows what else I could have.” I shrugged. “My parents told me I could possess some powers, but it was never certain.”I grabbed hold of the back of the sofa and pulled myself up. I swung my legs off the sofa and slouched back into the seat.
#Chapter290WARNINGBrody was in front of us before I could respond or even move. I attempted to pull him back, but he wouldn’t move. I appreciate the thought of him trying to protect us, but right now we stand more chance if I distract them and Brody and Callie get a head start.“Callie, honey, come here.” One of the women spoke, holding her hand out.I watched as Callie’s eyes went wide, and she gripped hold of Brody’s legs. My eyes darted between the woman, Brody and Callie. I could see the resemblance between them all. This is definitely their mother, Lenora.A growl spewed from my mouth before I could stop it. I don’t fully know the history between Lenora and my parents, but I know enough to know she tried ruining them both. She’s the reason Brody was injured, and I’d bet my life that she is one of the ones who wanted me captured. My eyes burned and I knew I was changing. My wolf and vampire side was coming forward. I still couldn’t fully sense Allie, she needed
#Chapter291AS HIGH AS BIRDSAfter I shifted and put on the clothes Brody gave me, I healed his chest. It wasn’t a deep injury, it would have healed perfectly on its own in time, but I liked the fact I could take the little pain he had away.I strolled behind Brody and Callie as we walked the streets. I didn’t know where we were. Because I had to keep my identity hidden, I never really travelled anywhere; although I’m so okay with staying in the country side. The smells surrounding the city were definitely questionable, and there was so much noise. Aside from the smells and noise, the city was beautiful. There has been so much that’s happened the last couple of days. I haven’t had a minute to actually let everything settle with me. Finding out I have not one but two powers was shocking. I know some, like the dark wolf, have powers, but I never thought I’d have anything. Who knows exactly what I can do, there’s never been a hybrid. There is no history, no lore, we’re none th
