Whatever was left of the army once Lacy was dead, were taken care of pretty easily afterwards. Once she was dead and they had no one organizing them or helping them attack certain places, then they didn’t know what to do. And they were done for. So we were able to return to the pack with our heads held high. We only had two casualties, and in war, that’s not a bad number. But it is bad in our books. We didn’t want to lose any. 5 YEARS LATER We had finally connected the two packs on new land that we had bought and built on. There was plenty of room for everyone. It was a lot more spread out and there was definitely a lot more people in the pack now. But it was perfect. Lucas and I were both still known as Alpha and his pack finally accepted me as being an Alpha instead of being an outsider. I guess saving us from this war probably helped, and the fact that I killed my own mother instead of changing sides really did things for my credibility. I was walking around the new pack
Arriving at school in the morning was basically a tradition for me. I was always the last of my friends to arrive, and they were always waiting for me out the front. Aria, Ella, Wyatt, Miles, Landon and Adam. All of them, sitting against the brick sides of the stairs as they were waiting for me. The sight of them standing there every morning made me smile. I couldn’t help it. And as soon as I walked up to them, they all greeted me the same way. Everyday. With a hug or a fist pump or anything of that nature. They really were the best friends that I could ever ask for. And when we went into school, it was almost like we ran in our own little pack. And I guess we did. It was rare that we would let anyone else in our little friend group, but that doesn’t mean that we were bullies to everyone else. I was the opposite. I hated bullies and I tried to be friendly to everyone. At least, everyone that deserved it. “Hey Meadow. Are we still on for that party this weekend? At the aban
I then took a step back and waited for him to regain his composure with everyone else in the room stopping what they were doing and staring straight at us. “What the fuck?” He yelled. “It’s not nice being jumped. Is it?” I asked. “Is this about that boy this morning?” He asked, holding his hand over his nose. “No. This is about the girl this morning.” I said. And his face dropped. Now realizing that I knew who else he had attacked. All of his friends had jumped back from the table, knowing that they couldn’t get into a fight with me unless they were willing to suffer the consequences. But I didn’t give a shit about that. I didn’t care that I was the next Alpha. If they wanted to try and gang up on me then I didn’t care in the least. But they weren’t game enough to do that. So Jordan stood there knowing that he was on his own and he looked back at me, trying to find a way out of this and he started laughing. “We were just messing around with that girl.” He said. And I star
As soon as I hear the word vampires I can feel my heart beating in my chest. I could feel my palms getting all sweaty and clammy and I knew that this was more than just one town being wiped out. Vampires have never launched an attack like this, and I had a feeling that this was just the beginning. And I think everyone in this room had the same feeling. They were all looking very stoic and not their usual casual selves. We weren’t the biggest pack in the country, but we definitely weren’t the smallest. So dad knew that it was our responsibility to do something. We were in a position to do something. Not like the smaller packs. And we weren’t like the smaller packs. They didn’t want anything to do with this sort of thing, but protecting humans was what we did. Mostly, protecting them against vampires. That was what we considered to be our main cause for being here. To protect humans against the one thing that was out there wanting to kill them. Just for food. “Dad. That doesn’
Benjamin stared at me the same way that he always did. Like he knew that he shouldn’t be here, but he couldn’t stay away. “I know. That’s why I got you to meet me out here. Did you get out easy enough?” He asked. “I do the patrol rosters? I know where everyone is and at what time they are going to be there. It’s always easy for me to sneak out.” I said. “Good.” “I’m guessing this has something to do with the attack on that human town?” I asked. “Yeah. Your pack isn’t the only ones that are going to kill me if they see me here.” He said. “What’s going on Benjamin? Why did they do it?” I asked. “That’s just the first of many. I don’t know where the next attack will be. But a war is coming. It’s inevitable now. Vampires have decided that they want to rule the world and they are going to stop at nothing. They’re starting with small towns before they hit the bigger cities.” He explained. “And why not? Why are they doing this now? Vampires have been around for thousands of y
I got no sleep that night, working in the office all night trying to help dad find any sort of information on this supposed war that is coming. But when it was time I went to go and get changed and I went outside to the training field and the head warrior was already waiting there as the rest of the warriors were arriving. The ones that were scheduled to train this morning. But I noticed that a lot more showed up than expected. So the head warrior, Arlo, got started with our lesson and he wasn’t holding back this morning. He said that we all knew what was going on and we needed to be ready. When it comes down to it, we are going to be the only things standing in the way of the vampires and the rest of civilization. So, we need to be ready for everything. To survive and protect the people that we love. As soon as training was over I headed upstairs of the packhouse to get ready for school. But I saw something strange in the upstairs sitting area, so I walked over towards the back
I got on the computer and I started looking at these towns and started researching them to see if they have anything in common. But all I can see is that they have small sheriff’s stations with only a few officers in charge of the whole town. And they are only small towns. Something that a small army of vampires wouldn’t be able to handle. Especially if they have been compelled to do what the vampires tell them to. Humans don’t even know that vampires exist. Which means they don’t know how to protect themselves against being compelled and all other ways that vampires can control them. They can get inside their heads if they want to. And that’s what was bugging me the most. That these humans have absolutely no idea how to protect themselves because we aren’t allowed to tell them that vampires exist. Even though the government knows. And they are the ones that I was really pissed at. They should be warning people. Instead, they’re sitting on their asses doing nothing. I finally fo
I needed to make sure that everyone here knew what Benjamin had told me, but I couldn’t tell them about Benjamin. So I needed to create a couple of fake profiles on the dark web and I started a conversation talking about everything that Benjamin had told me. It was something that I could print out and I could show to my father when I saw him again. It was the best way to give them the information without them asking too many questions. This way, they would just think that it was a couple of vampires having a conversation amongst themselves. Once I printed out that fake conversation, I went to the kitchen where I made a really strong coffee and the clock said that it was only 1am in the morning. I went back to the office and I saw dad standing next to his office. “Sorry. I must have fallen asleep.” He said. “That’s alright. I’m glad you got some rest. Is she asleep?” I asked. “Yeah. She’s pretty pissed about you putting her in a cold shower.” He said. “She’s lucky it wasn

Lacy stood there completely unfazed by the wolves that were surrounding her, and she didn’t take her eyes off of me. “Stand down.” I ordered my warriors. They all looked at me strangely, but they knew that I meant it. They all walked behind me, so it was Lacy and myself that were facing each other and no one else was in the way to get hurt here. “I always knew that you were going to grow up to be something special.” Lacy said. “How the fuck would you know? You left me.” I said. “I was killed by a vampire.” She said. “No. You chose to leave with that vampire. You wanted to be one of them.” I said. “How could you possibly know that?” She asked. “Because you took me with you once to go and meet that son of a bitch.” I said. “You were too young to remember that.” She said. “Apparently not. I remember. I remember everything. You chose to leave me because you didn’t want him turning me into a vampire until I was ready to make up my own mind.” I said. “Damn. You really d
It took us all day to get to where we were going and we couldn’t risk being seen that night, so we stayed at the next town over. But we left before the sun had even risen the next morning. We got to the house where the vampires were held up and we made sure that we were back far enough, just in case they could sense us inside. We needed to stay back for a long time, to give them a chance to go to sleep. And the problem was that they had chosen a spot that was sort of out of town, but neighbors were still pretty close. “That’s pretty clever of them. They think we won’t attack with neighbors.” I said. “What are we going to do about the civilians?” Tucker asked. “If they’ve got any brains then they would already be gone. There’s no way they could possibly not know that there are vampires next door.” I said. “Look at that house over there. People are inside.” Dean said. So I looked over and he was right. There were people inside. “Tucker. I need you to evacuate the neighborhood. The
Aria, Jason and I all got up from the table and followed them outside. Lucas had thrown David down the stairs and he was standing over him on the lawn out the front of the packhouse, giving him one hell of a beating. “The only reason you are my Beta is because you were born into the role. I could very easily give it to someone else but I believed that you deserved a fucking chance. I don’t believe that anymore. I believe that you need to prove to me that you deserve to be Beta, otherwise you won’t be anymore. I can think of several good men that I can put in your position. So don’t think you are irreplaceable, because you’re not. Now get the fuck out of my face.” Lucas yelled, letting go of David’s shirt. David scurried to his feet and he left the packhouse and Lucas turned around to see the rest of us standing on the veranda. “You shouldn’t have done that. I can take care of myself.” I said. “I know you can. But I’ve been getting sick of his attitude for a while.” Lucas said.
I spent the rest of the day putting together the appropriate teams to go after each nest. After looking at what David did, I could see that he had just thown teams together. And that was going to get them all killed. We needed a leader, a second in command and strong warriors to fight these battles. But some of the people that he had in these teams were definitely going to get themselves killed. I wasn’t sending them at all. They could stay back with the larger group of warriors and protect the pack. They had a better chance of survival that way. I made it very clear that this wasn’t a suicide mission and I wasn’t sending people off to their deaths by going after these nests. The objective was to kill the vampires and come home. That was it. I was starting to wonder how the hell he got the position of Beta in the first place. He definitely didn’t show me why he should be Beta. Except for his loyalty towards Lucas. But a Beta needs to have more than loyalty. They need to know ho
Jason was brought to the packhouse and we explained the situation to him and he was more than willing to try for a leadership role in this new mission that we were planning. Lucas and I took him down to the training field and there were a group of warriors already waiting there. We gave them a task to do and we needed to see if Jason could get them out of it with leadership skills. They took off to the woods where a whole scene was set up and where they would be attacked by other wolves waiting for them, ready to attack. They needed to follow the path, ward off the attacks and come up with new and inventive ways of doing it. This was Jason’s big test and we stayed back at the training field waiting for them. I laid down on the ground, knowing that it was going to take a while for them to complete while I was staring up at the sky. “What are you thinking about?” Lucas asked, sitting next to me. “Honestly. I am trying not to think about a damn thing.” I said. “Bullshit. I
We were woken the next morning by someone banging on the bedroom window, so Lucas got up and made sure the covers were completely covering me, He put on a pair of shorts and opened the curtain and the window to see Beta David standing there. “I’m sorry Alpha. I’ve been trying to mind link you all morning.” David said. “Yeah. I was ignoring you for a reason.” Lucas said. “Please? I called you with a list of vampire nests last night. It’s already 9am.” David said. “Shit. I didn’t realize it was that late. We’ll get ready and meet you at the packhouse. Can you tell the cook to make sure that they have breakfast ready for the both of us?” Lucas asked. “Sure.” David said. Lucas and I went to have a shower and we got dressed and headed to the packhouse straight away. Breakfast was already waiting for us and we sat in the conference room eating while we were trying to formulate a plan. “We need to make it a single attack. All of these nests need to be attacked at the same time
I know that Lucas was hesitant about what I had just said, but it was the only way to stop this war. We needed to cut it off at the top and hopefully, the rest will disband. But if they don’t, it won’t be hard to find them when they have no leader telling them what to do. They will get sloppy. They will get reckless, and that will definitely work in our favor. But the problem was trying to find where Lacy was hiding. She could be anywhere, especially after we just took out the warehouse. I finally grabbed the notebook that Lucas had been writing in and I looked at all of the different locations that we had been given by packs who couldn’t handle these vampire nests on their own. “We need to divide and conquer. I’m gonna need some warriors from my pack to meet us here so we can get all of this done.” I said. “How about we don’t think about this right now. We can work out a game plan tomorrow.” He said, taking the notebook off of me. So I poured myself another drink. “Haven’t you
We got back to the pack and the omega already had dinner waiting. But no one was allowed to eat now that Lucas was back in the pack. They had to wait for him. So we were shown to the dining room and I was surprised that there were several tables set up in the dining room, all of them filled with people and one long table at the top of the room where Lucas sat and I sat next to him. His Beta David was next to the Alpha and his mate Lily was beside him. My Beta Aria was beside me and Leah was beside her. Lucas liked to let everyone know how the pack worked and who was in charge around here. He seemed to run a pretty tight ship. No one started eating until he arrived, no one started doing anything until he arrived and told them that they could. Lucas was talking to David a lot and I was trying to stomach my food after figuring out that my mother was the leader of all leaders who started this war in the first place. But Lucas and I agreed not to tell anyone until we were absolutely
