“So you’re telling me that Diego got caught and that the girl disappeared.” Lucifer growled, causing his men to flinch back. “What of her mother?”
“Dead, sir.” The man said, waiting for his boss’ reaction.
“So the mom is dead, Diego is in prison, the child is missing, and no one can fucking locate Margo. Is that what you’re telling me?” He demanded with a deadly calm.
“That is correct.” The man said, swallowing nervously.
“God dammit!” He roared, flipping his desk. “What the fuck am I paying you for? I want Margo found! I want her back in my cells! I’m giving you two weeks to find them. You find the child and you will find Margo. Do not fail me Fabian. This is your last chance.”
Fabian didn’t wait
Digger sighed and walked inside the mansion. He hadn’t been there in a while and was glad to be back. Now that he had taken care of the job at hand he was going to get some rest and then prepare for the meeting later in the afternoon. Digger clomped up the stairs and made a bee line for his room. He was over the opulence of the mansion and couldn’t be bothered to take in its grandeur. He was more determined to get some rest and back to his search for Margo. She had eluded him for too long. With his exhaustion catching up to him he stepped into the room that he used for when he got back from long trips and began to strip off his clothes as he made his way to the bathroom. After Digger got some rest he dressed and found his way to Lucifer’s office. It’s a rather fitting name,
Kane sat in the shadows and watched as Bridgette emerged from her small house and went to her car, checking to make sure that no one was watching her. He frowned wondering what she could have been up to. He watched as she climbed into her car and backed down the driveway. Soon she was off and after getting someone to come over and watch the house he followed behind her at a safe distance. Kane had been watching her for a while now and noticed that she seemed to have two different houses. One in town and the second out in the country. After Dex had confirmed that the child’s mother had passed away at the hands of one of Lucifer’s men, they thought it was important to put surveillance on the two. Dex had given him what information he could on the child’s mother as well as the child. Sure enough, Bridgette had been made her guardian and a few months after the death of her mother Bridge
Bridgette sighed when she made it back to the small house that she kept in town. It was dark and quiet and she would have found it relaxing if she wasn’t such a nervous wreck. She knew that she had done something crazy but that now seemed like the only available option ever since Laurel died. She knew that she couldn’t run forever, and she also knew that she would never be able to rest until they were all taken down. Crazy was literally the only option she had left. Bridgette was about to unlock the front door when she noticed something that seemed a little out of place in the quiet neighborhood. She had a large jacket pulled over her shoulders masking the shoulder holster and twin pistols. She quickly unlocked the door and slipped inside the house. She bid the babysitter good night and sent her on her way after paying her. Bridgette then slipped out the back door and made her way through her
Bridgette had grabbed a blanket and a pillow for the Danny Zucko look alike in her living room before deciding to change out of her clothes and into bed clothes. She had just taken off her shirt and was digging for some pajamas when she heard a sharp breath behind her. Bridgette stopped what she was doing but kept her back towards the prospect. She squeezed her eyes shut listening to the sound of feet fleeing down the stairs before grabbing a long sleeved t-shirt and pulling it over her head and then some long sleep pants. When she was done getting dressed she turned around and grabbed the blanket and pillow before heading down stairs. Bridgette found the prospect sitting on the couch with a pale face. His hands were shaking. Bridgette guessed the sight of some of what she had suffered might have been too much.
Kane stood outside waiting to talk to the prospect that had been put in charge of watching the house in town. He had been surprised when he found the car empty and was a little worried that something had happened in the middle of the night. He looked up in surprise when he saw the prospect exit the house. Something about him leaving her home early in the morning didn’t sit right with him. “What were you doing inside?” Kane asked when the prospect stood in front of him. “She made me, man.” He said, shrugging. “She made you? How the fuck did she do that?” Kane asked, frowning. “I think she’s known for a while that we were watching her.” The prospect said. “How the heck?” Kane mumbl
Kane watched as Bridgette’s body seemed to coil ready for a fight. Her chin seemed to be held a little higher as she stared at the woman. Kane could almost smell the contempt rolling off of her. There was something else mixed in with it but he couldn’t put his finger on it. “Ma’am, pardon my rudeness but let me see if I understand what you’re trying to say. You have made multiple trips to my land, the one I specifically told you I wouldn’t sell back to you and then told you to leave immediately. Option two is just as bad though if not worse because that means that you got my billing information from one of the contractors I had hired to work on my house or stalked me. Does that sound right to you?” She asked. “Um… uh… I” The woman stammered again. “Tell me ma’am, which one was it?” Bridget
A/N: There is a scene with severe violence in this chapter. Look for the ****** if you want to skip ahead. However, there is important information divulged.Kane shrugged before going to do as she said. He came back with a frown on his face which she took to mean that the prospect was nowhere in sight. Bridgette sighed and then smiled. Sammy wouldn’t be walking into a bloody scene which left Bridgette free to do as she pleased for a few moments.Bridgette grabbed her hunting knife from the dining table and ran a finger across the blade, smiling at its sharpness. She ignored the mild sting as it bit into her flesh. She held her finger up for the other woman to see. The whole time that same sweet smile was on her lips.********“Well, looks like you won't mind missing the
A/N: Look for the ***** more scense of torture ahead. Bridgette’s voice had been subdued. He knew it must have been hard to hear her aunt talk like that. He couldn’t help but wonder just how many times she used that excuse to get what she wanted. People in this town were genuinely nice people and often felt pity for widows or people that lost their loved ones. He glared at Ginny in disgust but felt compelled to agree with Bridgette. His code was not something that he would sacrifice on someone like Ginny, though the woman tried his patience unlike any other. When Bridgette returned she seemed calmer. In fact her eyes seemed brighter and she seemed lighter than before. Even though she still played with the knife, she didn’t seem as ready to explode as before. It had him wondering just how keyed up she had been and for how long. Whatever happened he was glad fo
Thank you for reading. I know a lot happened and there will be more to come. I promise that plot points and questions will be answered over time. Just hang in there with me as I am working on the next book in the series. The next book will be up soon with more romance, mystery, and intriegue. Bernard will be back with his villianous ways and Margo will be making some appearances here and there as the story follows new characters but helps you understand Bernard and the motives behind what is taking place. This book will be more villian centered than the first one. So look for book 2 of The Devil's Knight's MC Series: The Devil's Prey.
After a few more rounds they fell asleep wrapped up in each other’s arms. Kane rolled over in his sleep reaching for Bridgette but frowned when he found her side cold and empty. He sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He looked around the room and sighed at the quiet. Kane climbed out of the bed and slipped on his underwear. He padded down the stairs in search of Bridgette.Kane went to the kitchen and noticed that the coffee maker was off. He frowned and went to the office thinking that she could be there or in the bunker. When he saw that the desk was in place he began to worry. On top of the desk was a note written in Bridgette’s messy handwriting. Tears stained some of the paper causing the ink to run and smudge a little.Kane,
“I have for a long time.” Kane whispered, crossing over to her.Bridgette stood there in shock staring up at him. A deep blush spread across her face as she swallowed the nervous lump in her throat. She blinked a few times before realizing that he stood directly in front of her. She sighed as his hands threaded into her hair, holding her still as he pressed his lips to her’s.Bridgette moaned into the kiss as she wound her arms around his neck. She stood on the tips of her toes and pressed into him as he nipped and sucked her bottom lip. Her heart pounded into her chest as she lost her senses to him. He was constantly invading her mind and even though there were more important matters to deal with her mind thought only of him.In her foggy haze she barely registered him picking he
Kane returned two hours later with an annoyed Mary in tow. Her jaw was hanging open as she took in the large house on the familiar property. She turned wide accusing eyes on him a moment later as her mouth began to turn down into a frown.“Are you fucking kidding me?” She growled angrily. “This is where you’ve been?”“Just shut it and come inside. We have a lot to do and not much time to do it.” He said, climbing out of his truck.“Don’t order me around, you ass!” She huffed as she followed him to the front door.To her surprise he entered the house without knocking. “Hey,” Dex said, coming to stand next to him.“Hey. Did you guys get everything sorted out?” Kane asked.“She’s dragging her feet and I can’t say that I blame her. She doesn’t trust anyone except Bridgette.” Dex sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I don’t know what to do…. We can’t expect Jess and Machine to take her in. They have the kids so their hands are full.”“I might have an idea….” Bridgette whispered, stepping outside to join them.“What are you thinking?” Dex asked, raising a brow.“Can you call your sister?” She asked, turning her eyes towards Kane.
“Jess, I need you and Machine to take the kids and keep them safe.” Bridgette sighed.“I thought that they were safe here.” Machine frowned.“They were.” Kane said, still mad that she had put herself in danger again.“What happened?” Jess asked.“That bastard managed to get to an informant and his family. Long story short, their dead and they were under federal guard.” Bridgette sighed.“But what does that have to do with the kids?” Machine asked.“It means that if he can get to them while they’re under federal protection then he can get to me and it won't
“Bridgette, you need to stop and think about this!” Kane yelled, following her through the house.“There’s nothing to think about.” She said with a stoney face as she made her way down to the bunker.“Why won’t you stop and listen to me?” He argued.“Because you’re just going to try and talk me out of this and there’s nothing you can say to change my mind.” She said, starting up the computers.“Goddammit! I don’t want to lose you! I can’t go through that again!” He yelled.“You’re not going to lose me, but you are going to have to trust me!” She said, turning to face him teary eyes. &
Bridgette sighed and leaned against the railing as she thought about how crowded her place had suddenly become. The cold air blew across her skin reminding her that she hadn’t worn a jacket or shoes. She closed her eyes, savoring the quiet as the wind whipped her hair around. She didn’t mind the chill or the numbness in her appendages. Her mind was elsewhere as she stared out at the early morning sky.“Bridgette….” Kane sighed, opening the door with a fresh cup of steaming coffee in his hands. “What are you doing out here in the cold?”Bridgette didn’t turn to look at him as he watched her worriedly. She took a deep breath of air and sighed, watching the warm air float out on the early morning breeze. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and nibbled on her bottom lip.
