CIARA's POV

I shuffled my feet for the umpteenth time. The elders sitting before me bore on their faces great sadness and the atmosphere was tense. I wondered how my face looked next to theirs as I was very sure that none of them was as sad as I was . Of course, why would they be ?. The great elder's death is my fault and mine entirely.

I sobbed once more and let the tears run down my face in torrents ,as though they were athletes in a race , trying to outrun each other. I felt bile rise up in my throat and I swallowed my saliva. Sorrow overclouded me and I could think of nothing more than this death which was my fault.

When a messenger came in , wearing an indifferent look , I felt anger course through me . Every member of the pack were supposed to be sad , or so I thought . Why not ? Only a person deviod of feelings would feel otherwise. As my eyes made their way to the Messenger's shoe , I couldn't but smile as I thought he deserved the lowliest state of squalor he was in. Hear
