CARLY WOODS

"I need the test results this second." Jace's hardened face and eyes were solid on the doctor's face.

I sat ramrod straight in the vast office, staring blankly at the stout doctor who walked in from the lab with the test results in hand.

"It's positive, right?" Jace looked more eager to know the result—too eager to get a positive than I ever could be. But why?

He made it clear he didn't want anything to ruin his big day but why this attitude?

"Congratulations," the doctor gave a brisk smile that didn't meet his eyes.

The congratulations wasn't directed at me but to the grim-faced Alpha which made him seem to relax for the first time that evening.

"That can't be!" I countered springing to my feet. "I can't be pregnant!"

A teenage and an unwed Mom was so out of the equation.

"That's impossible, run the tests again." My tone faltered with my empty gaze on the papers handed to me by Dr. Walters.

"We'll be on our way now."

Jace snatched the results from my quivering hands and dragged me by the arm outside the office before I could refute the situation.

His fingers dug painfully into my arm as he firmly tugged me towards the elevator, strides quick and large making me practically run just to match his pace. He didn't slow down until we reached his parked car.

"The results are wrong," I demurred, out of breath.

"You're coming with me."

His hardened tone left no room for arguments. He opened the car and vigorously shoved me into the front seat, closed the door, and turned over to slip behind the wheels.

Focusing on my breath, I tried not to panic, not to overthink things. Jace was equally as confused as I was. We'd made love without protection but there were still chances of not getting pregnant. Why did this grow complicated?

"I'm going to run away so you don't have to deal with a baby after three months. I genuinely don't want to ruin your happiness with the woman you love."

I went on and on like a moving train saying things that came to my mind, giving him reasons to not want to consider a termination.

"I understand a baby is a big responsibility, I was dumb enough to not take care of things but I promise you this won't get in the way of anything."

He didn't say a word to my rambles, his steely gaze remained glued to the windshield, and his fingers strummed the wheels as he zoomed down the street. Not even the night sky could soothe the dread in my heart.

"Alpha Jace, please say something to me. Where the hell are you taking me?"

He turned at the next intersection into the driveway that led to his mansion. I felt immensely flattered being brought here. Not too many people came here to his personal space. Even as an Omega, being scheduled to clean the Alpha's mansion was a promotion I was nowhere near getting.

He parked outside by the water fountain and headed towards the threshold. My heartbeat accelerated at the very notion of going inside. I skipped toward him, utterly distracted by the opulent mansion.

A tall, imposing door swung open when we approached it, "Show Carly where to stay, she's a temporary guest." He ordered the perfectly coiffed older lady.

Temporary guest?

I didn't imagine I'd be seeing Jace again, living under his roof as his guest was going to be pure insanity. It was going to spark rumors around the pack especially now his baby grew inside of me.

"I don't think this is a great idea," I countered when his domestic staff left to prepare a room.

"You're going to shut the fuck up and do as I say!"

His Alpha tone, blazing eyes, and clenched jaws made my wolf curl up inside of me in fright, reminding me of who this man was and what he was capable of. I must've acted too boldly.

"I just don't understand." My voice was barely above my breath. Tears stung my eyes.

He was acting all strange and somewhat secretive. Looking into his brilliant green eyes, I could conceive he was up to no good.

He moved closer, his intimidating height overshadowing me, "You're fuckin' keeping this pregnancy, understood?"

It was more of a command but this was my body, decisions like this were up to me to make.

"And you don't think it would be fair to ask me about what I want first?"

His eyes darkened viciously. "You're a pathetic Omega, damn what you want." His hand cupped my jaws, nails biting into the soft skin below the cut on my face, "This could grow dangerous if you try to act funny."

His threat sank into the bottom of my soul, hairs on my skin stood at their end at his threat, his spiteful gaze suggested he made no empty threats. His rough breathing confirmed it.

"This journey is going to be fuckin' thorny, you're going to act exactly as I command no matter the level of pain. Am I clear goddamn runt?"

He released my jaws only when the domestic staff walked back to fetch me. The softness he possessed the previous night was gone from his stance and manner as he stomped off.

"This way, please."

I followed the graceful lady up the stairway to the room with tears streaming down my face. Afraid for my life and that of my baby.

Trapped in this mansion, escaping would be impossible. Addison never was just talk, not when I became this close to her. Living under her man's roof? Extremely lethal.

"I'm Alicia, I'll tend your wounds and make you something to eat."

Alicia, the housekeeper seemed nice, her kindness helped make me feel a bit relaxed.

"I need to get my stuff."

Alicia didn't notice any trace of deceit in my words. If she trusted me enough to let me go then this mansion belonged in my past.

"You speak with Alpha Jace about it first, I can't just let you off, or how about a chauffeur pick it up for you?"

"I'll ask him."

Chances of convincing Jace to have me go pack my stuff were there so I took the initiative.

Alicia led me through the hall toward the area she said was his home office and pointed at a door before she turned around to go have a chef make me something to eat.

I hesitated by the door, afraid of how to face the fury in Jace's smoldering eyes. I mentally went over the things I would to say to him and worked on my breath before I raised my hand to knock on the partly closed oak door then it hit my ears, Jace's desperate tone behind the door. I couldn't help but eavesdrop.

"The wedding must be put on hold for now until the curse is broken."

What curse? I swallowed hard and listened again.

"The Omega girl is pregnant, this is the goddess saving my ass but I can't fucking wait for three agonizing months to finally be with Addie."

"You've waited all your life, Jace."

Whoever he was with responded in a deep tone. Beta Ian?

He didn't have to wait. Why didn't he just let me go?

"Three months isn't a long time, this has gone just how we planned, a little patience my Alpha."

"I brought her back here," Jace's tone grew quiet, I had to heighten my senses to get what he had to say next, "I need to be sure that child is born. I love Addison and can't afford to break her this way by sacrificing her son to save my life."

"Stop worrying, you finally have a son who will give his life for you."

What in the world were they talking about? Was it safe to find out?

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 191 - EASY THERE WOLFIE

The sound I've longed to hear. The sound I'd begged the moon goddess to let me hear every full moon since I turned sixteen. The sound of its absence made my life more miserable than that of an average werewolf or worse Omega. The sound of my bones snapping. Rearranging.I looked up and saw the moon glowing but the pain I was feeling was so great that I couldn't be distracted by the weird glowing of the moon.I released a terrified scream as a loud clap of thunder sounded from the sky, and the already heavy wind picked up speed. What was going on with the weather today?I tried to scream again but this time it came out as an agonizing groan. Everywhere in my body was hurting and the only thing I could do was thrash around in pain, my eyes squeezed tight as rain suddenly started falling hard on the earth. My chest tightened and more tears cascaded down my face and mixing with the rain. An excruciating pain in my head made me disregard the weirdly glowing moon over my head, the stormy

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 190 - DEAR SELENA

CARLY WOODS POV The moon was already out in the sky, standing proud and red and doing nothing to illuminate the night sky or the woods I was in.With the fire of determination burning in the pit of my stomach, I sprang to my feet, and the tree I was leaning on served as a support system. My knees wobbled a bit as I took a few steps forward but I forced them to stay steady as I progressed.I pulled the sweater I had on closer to me as the wind picked up speed, dead leaves that couldn't hold on any longer fell from trees, dead and dried out branches fell off as well, and some dried leaves on the ground got carried by the wind. The whooshing sound of the wind as it howls through trees echoed in my heart as a cold reminder of what was lost. The night grew colder and the creeping sounds of crickets could be heard, the flapping of wings from the night birds as they flew from tree to tree looking for something to feed on.I could hear the sounds of wolves howling from a distance and I knew

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 189 - BACK TO BROOKSIDE PACK

CARLY WOODS POV I was tired from my lack of sleep for two nights and I was also experiencing some headaches from all the crying, and screaming of the last two days. The wood was quiet except for the creepy sound of crickets and early birds that came out to pick worms. Each step I took was heavier than the last but I kept going. I couldn't stop, even if I wanted to. Twigs snapped under my black sneakers' clad feet as I hastily stepped on them on my way but I didn't care if someone was out there to hear me run. I had nothing left to be afraid of, not when the worst had already happened. I couldn't sleep a wink at night because my mind kept reeling on how I'd face Alpha Jace Baldwin again, what his reaction to seeing me again would be, and how he'd react to the news of his child being abducted by his sworn enemy. By Darren Knight. Tonight, the blood moon will be out and I was nervous about meeting Jace, - Lykos in a bloodlust state. Will he recognize me or tear me into a million

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 188 - VENDETTA

CARLY WOODS POV Later that night, I was still in my room, a plate with two large pieces of pizza was left abandoned on my bedside table, a broken glass of water lay on the floor, and spilled water soaked into the rug.I sat on the window seat staring silently at the empty crib in front of me, tears flowing from my eyes.My vision blurred from either staring too hard or the tears that won't stop flowing, I wasn't sure.A silent knock sounded on the door but I paid no heed to it as I stayed unmoving, my back pressed against the wall, my legs pulled into my chest in a leg hug.Whoever was out there, I didn't want to see, I didn't want to talk to anyone except it was about my little Hunter. The knock resonated again but like the first time, my eyes were still glued to the crip - the blue crip with soft baby bedding and a small wolf toy he loved playing with.Despite the steady flow of water from my eyes, my head was shuddering in different ways to get him back.If I smother him in his sl

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 187 - A LITTLE WARNING

CARLY WOODS POV "I know Carly, I know and I'm so, so, sorry about that," Allison said, her voice hushed as she sat on her knees in front of me, her eyes reflecting her concerns."Wait, you knew?" "I've been trying to come see you since but the men outside your door didn't grant anyone access." Allison reached out a hand to me but I shoved it away and narrowed my bloodshot eyes at her."I mean you no harm..." She started in a broken voice but I gave her another deadly glare."A little warning would have gone a long way Allison, it would have saved Hunter from being killed by him," I growled in a deadly tone, and even though I was never prepared for the confused look that washed over her face, I wasn't going to be swayed by it after all Darren had been pretending all along.Who knows if she was also a part of his game? She was his aide after all."You think I knew about this?" Her voice cracked and I saw pain flash in her eyes as she stared deep into my eyes but made no move to step a

  • Dare To Mate   Chapter 186 - GLARING REALITY

CARLY WOODS POV My ears failed to pick up on the whooshing sound of wind whistling and blowing outside, the sound of leaves flapping violently over each other on trees, and the sound of wolves howling in from a distance in the thick darkness of the night.I sat motionless on the cold floor, my butt no longer responding to the biting pain for sitting on the rug all day.The room was dead in silence but I was haunted by the thoughts of what my son was likely going through in the hands of the vile beings. My heart was no longer racing because it had been shattered beyond repair and I hated the fact that I was too weak to defend my child from danger just as I was too weak to defend my family from the attack. They took my family, now they've taken my child. How long was I supposed to suffer before the Moon goddess decides to put an end to my long and never-ending list of misery? My bound hands clutched tightly against my chest in a freak attempt to make the pain go away. I hunched over, m
