Vivid Nightmare

Third POV

Rex woke up from a terrible nightmare, shaking and sweating. The dream was so vivid, so real. It was like he could still feel the cold hand of death on his neck. In the dream, he watched helplessly as Ivory, his mate, was killed by a shadowy figure. As the dream ended, he could hear her screams echoing in his head.

He sat up in bed, breathing hard. He was drenched in sweat, and his heart was racing. It took him a few moments to remember that it was just a dream.

After a few minutes, Rex's racing heart began to slow down. He tried to calm himself, taking deep breaths and focusing on the present moment. He looked over at the sleeping form of Ivory, his mate, and felt a wave of relief wash over him. She was safe. The nightmare was just a dream.

But as Rex began to relax, he heard a low growl coming from the corner of the room. He froze. Was that growl real, or was he still dreaming? He held his breath, straining to hear. And then he heard it again. A low, menacing growl.
