Thrown Off Balance

EMERALD POV

I stood at the edge of the forest, looking out at the rolling hills beyond. The wind was blowing gently, and the sun was shining brightly in the sky. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, trying to focus on the sounds around me. The chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves, and the soft buzzing of bees.

Suddenly, I heard a twig snap behind me, and my eyes snapped open. I turned around, my heart pounding in my chest, and saw him standing there. He was tall and imposing, with broad shoulders and a fierce gaze. I knew who he was, even though I had never met him before. He was the leader of the rogues, the one they called the King. And now, here he was, standing right in front of me. "What do you want?" I asked, my voice shaking slightly.
