Rae turned to me, darting hard scowls at me, as if I had been the one who had thrown insults at her. "Ivan, who's this idiot?" she asked.
I knew I could easily ignore her question, but I felt a bit obliged to give her an answer. Frustrated, I ran my palm through my face, turned to Tanya, and sighed out loud.
"Why are you here? Thought I asked you to not come here ever again," I marked out.
She chuckled. That sinister chuckle. "Excuse me?" Her eyebrow corked at me. "Um, don't tell me you're trying to defend her. Dude, she's just your mistress. I'm the main woman here."
I shook my head. "You don't own that title anymore. I might not be in love with her, but it's not right for you to disrespect her."<
I couldn't lean into the couch I was seated on, cause I couldn't trust it. What if there was a scorpion in it? It was made of an old, soft cotton, looking quite wretched. Rae's mom grinned at me, sitting on the couch opposite me. I knew she was trying to observe whether or not I was comfortable, so I was trying as much as possible to seem fine. "Do you mind drinking tea?" she asked. I shook my head. "No, no. I'm fine. I'm okay." "Oh, okay." She grinned even more. Leaning my elbows on my knees, I intertwined my fingers in each other, scrolling my eyes around the room, literally scrutinizing the place. To me, this place seemed like a container, not a house. Fine, it was neat, the interi
The more we stood here, the louder the crowd screamed, and the crazier they acted. One thing I knew for sure was, they weren't going to stop their madness. If we stepped back in, when we eventually came out, they would still attempt to attack us. We had to leave here, no matter what. Yes, this was awkward. But, the thing was, Tanya and I had a lot of fans. Tanya was a social media freak, so she always made me post our nice moments on my social media account. A lot of people liked seeing us as a couple. But, how could they be this crazy for us? Or, Tanya had hired some thugs to attack Rae? Because, this seemed too stupid to be true. I glimpsed at Rae again, feeling bad that she had to experience this, though she was the innocent one. Not knowing what to do, I grabbed her, and pulled her into my embrace, so none of those stup
Finally, the day was here. The day I was getting married. The day this matrimony would become finalized. It felt so unreal."It's so sad that I wouldn't be able to come over," my elder brother, Keith, said over the phone.I smiled. "It's not a problem, really. After all, our aunt and cousins are here with me. The point is, I've got a family member around.""Yeah, true. Anyway, I'll make sure to visit you once I can. It's been a year since we saw each other.""No problem.""Bye for now. Wishing you a happy married life.""Thanks." I hung up the call.
I heard the shuttling sounds of cameras. There was really no doubt that some of the guests or maybe some reporters were recording all that was going on.Furious to the ultimate point, I grabbed her arm, and pushed her off me. She almost rolled down the altar, but fortunately for her, she was able to control her movement. Well, her butt knocked against the floor, and she groaned. Not in this life, not in my next life, would I have expected Tanya to turn out this dangerous. I wouldn't have ever thought I would do something this violent to her.I beckoned at my men to come close, and get rid of her. But, before they could reach us, she stood up. She walked to Rae, grabbed her arm like a maniac, and in a blink of an eye, she hit Rae. This was too much to handle.
The stench of alcohol from my clothes made me scrunch my nose. I kind of had a lot to drink last night, even much more than I had expected. Well, getting drunk brushed off the killing emotions in my head. Partially.Opening the door of my room, I stepped in. I glanced at my bed, and for some reason, I shook my head. She was still here. I knew she was going to be here forever, but I just wanted her to leave already. There was nothing good that could come out of this marriage. She was just here for the sake of nothing. She yawned out loud, rolling on the bed like a ball on a field. Swiftly, like a maniac, she gasped, and sat straight. Again, I shook my head, and just walked toward the wardrobe. I grabbed a few shirts, searching for a good cloth to wear for the day.
She didn't listen to me. This got me so frustrated, because it had been long since I had met someone as annoying as her. She towed the duvet to hips, pulling it off me completely. The scowls didn't resist my facial expression, my fingers locking in a hard fist."You know I can throw you off this bed?" I threatened. She shrugged. The duvet settled on her chest, and she just shifted to the other side of the bed. She dunked into the soft foam, let out a sigh, and switched off the bedside lamp on the nightstand.Okay, first, staying on the bed with her wasn't a good idea. What if something had to happen between us? And, second, since she had the guts to disagree with me, I would let her know that that wasn't something she should do very often.
This was it. In less than thirty minutes, Susan would be in this place. In a really long time, I hadn't been this fearful for anyone. Because I knew how terrible she could turn out to be, I had made sure the security around me was solid enough to protect me. I had asked four of my men to stay with Pablo and Drake behind the door of my office, and of course, Jason was here with me.With widened eyes, he leaned into his seat, placing his hands on the table in front of me. "Where's Antonio? Did you really ask him to spy on Susan?"I nodded indifferently. "Who else can do that job? You?""Yeah, right." He chuckled. "But, dude, come on, she's only a person. She's just like one of the typical chics out there. You're acting like you're gonna encounter God."&nbs
I was trying to be nice. After having issues with Tanya, I had decided to turn back to my old self. But, for some reason, I still wanted to give life a chance. However, if this woman kept on nagging this way, she would push me to the edge of my irk."Okay, why couldn't you go out there to visit her?" I dropped my hands on my waist, glaring even harder. She squeezed her face like a frustrated old woman, and huffed. "Told you I don't wanna leave the mansion after that moronic chic embarrassed me at our wedding. She had that posted on her social media. She ruined my reputation.""Reputation?" I scoffed. "Who're you? What's your background? I know nothing about those. Getting married to you was only because my aunt told me you're a good girl, and your family is great. So,
Looking out at the view from the huge window which was almost the size of a door, I blinked multiple times to hold back my tears. The moment a little breeze hit my open chest, I shuddered a little and breathed out loud. Wrapping my arms around myself to create warmth, I turned around and just walked to the huge bed.I felt lonely. Before leaving the mansion with Ivan, I had been hopeful that things would work out well for us, but then, he had to fuck it all up. This was past ten, yet, he hadn't come home.I really wondered why I was waiting for him. I was being hopeful that he'd show up and tell me how much he missed me.Why had he made me feel so joyful tonight, only for him to ruin it all?
Not wanting to experience this frustration any longer, I decided to move back a little. I just stood here like an idiot, hating myself for feeling so jealous."Does it still hurt so much? You need to see the doctor?" He kept massaging her feet. She tugged her hand to his arm, shook her head, pouted, and squeezed her face harder. "Please, don't massage it further. It hurts even more."He glimpsed at me but turned back to her immediately. "This is why you should always be careful. Should I get you some ice?""I don't mean to bother you." Again, she sniffled. "But yes, please do that. I'm in so much pain."He breathed out in frustration. "Gosh, I d
I didn't know how to control my fright. I wouldn't have ever thought I would become this scared of a person. Well, this fear was inevitable.Only yesterday, Raymond and Rhonda had been talking about how much they hated Ivan. Raymond had even said he wished Ivan would just die. But while we were leaving the mansion, Rhonda had acted like the sweetest person in the world. To be honest, I really didn't know much about her. I didn't even know how she got to know me.On a fateful day, last year, she had walked up to me and had introduced herself as Ivan's aunt. She has said I could get what was rightfully mine if we would just work together. And yes, I had agreed to it. After all, I had always been a pained person. I had just seen it as an opportunity to be who I was meant to be. But, now that I was thinking about it, I was sc
I would admit that I was feeling quite weird about this date. Putting it in a more specific way, I was shy. This was totally crazy and confusing, but it was the crazy truth. I was really starting to wonder if my annoyance toward Rae being indifferent to me was me starting to like her in a way. No, not like I really liked her, but being honest, I liked being with her, liked staring at her, and liked hearing her say something. It felt like although she had always been trying to push me away from her, it made me feel the need to know her more. Was all of this due to my loneliness? Or had I decided to truly move on?Taking a deep breath, I turned around to walk into my room. And just taking a step in, I halted in my tracks.Sweet Lord, this woman was beautiful.
As Jason packed his bags, getting ready to leave my place, I stared at the phone Antonio had given to me. To be honest, I wasn't willing to go through everything on Rae's phone. Suddenly, I started to feel like I was going to invade her privacy. I couldn't imagine what it'd be like to have someone go through my private messages and calls. That was absurd."You got a new phone?" I looked up at Jason when he asked me that.I nodded. "Kinda."He let out a throaty laugh, dropping his bag on my table. "Why? You've already got one. You're planning to give it to a woman or something?""Not that.""Then?" He gave me a questioning look. Woah, why was he
It had been a while since Antonio came over to my place. I never liked him around because he was either always flirting with the maids or saying crazy things that never stopped boring me. If I hadn't promised myself to not go to work all through the week, I would have surely not have let him come here.He switched on the new phone he had gotten me, gave it to me, and sucked his teeth. "That's it. It's been linked to hers. Any information you need on her phone, you can find it there.""Including her mails and bank transactions?" I asked. He snorted. "Of course. Anything you can think of.""Alright. Will send you the money." I put the phone on the center table, then set my gaze on him.
This evening was a very awkward one for me. Every now and then, Rhonda and I glimpsed at each other. I was really wondering if Ivan noticed how uncomfortable I was beside her. Well, I hoped he didn't notice it."So, how've you guys been?" she asked Ivan. With mouthful of pancake, he mumbled, "Great, great. My business has been going fine, and uh, my mental health has been cool lately."She beamed with a smile. The smile with a devilish intention. "Aw… sweet. I'm happy about that. And what about your social life? How's your—" she glanced at me. "—relationship with her? I believe I can see some improvements. I see you've been—"With a fake cough, I cut her off. I acted like I choke
Brenda glared as she pulled her arms around her chest. She snapped her neck in the direction of my car window, sulking so much, and tapping her feet against the floor of my car. Whenever she was super upset, this was how she behaved. I let out a sigh, a sigh of surrender. "Alright then. I give up. Bad that you don't wanna come in, but I think I understand you." "You think?!" She snapped, her eyes widened at me. "You're not married to a human! My refusal is valid. Literally, he embarrassed me so much. I just can't imagine going back into that place." I giggled. This wasn't funny at all, but it just made me laugh. "Oh, sorry, sorry." I waved my hands at her to apologize for laughing, trying so much to hold back my laughter. "Okay, girl. I get you. A hundred percent
One bad thing I knew about Dale was his anger. Whenever he got angry, it was so hard to try to make him feel better. He could go angry for a month, and wouldn't even think of giving me a call. And, now that he thought I was going too far in this game, there was no doubt that he would interfere in this, and even ruin all of my hard work. Gulping, I turned to him. His stare became even intenser, no sign of sympathy or remorse hanging in those eyes. "They won't stop attacking you, will they?" He smirked. "Guess it's because they need their boss to ask them to leave. With a snap of my finger, they'll disappear." I swallowed the lump of tears in my throat. He had planned all this? Being careful, not wanting Ivan to know Dale and I knew each other, I looked away.
