CHAPTER THIRTY

LUCA

"Do you think he will be okay?" The first female voice asks

"Calm down. He will be fine." A deep voice answers.

"He will be fine." Another deep voice concurs.

I want to tell them that I'm fine and that they should fuckoff because I don't need their pity or concern, but I'm too exhausted to think talkless of moving.

"I'm so worried." The first female voice asks again.

"He will be fine." The second voice response, which I suspect to be the doctor's,.

"He looks pretty damaged." A new voice joins in the pity. A loud girlish voice pierces deep into my subconscious, and as much as my tired brain wants to remain in a coma and ignore these pathetic people. That voice is enough to snatch me back to reality. My eyes fly open. I squint as my eyes struggle to get used to the lights after it's long period of not being used.

"Luca!" That voice again. I hear heavy footsteps come close to the bed where I'm lying. A soft caress smooths my upper arm and slowly brings me back to reality. "Luca, he
