Meanwhile, in a dank basement across town, Abeni jerked awake at the sound of a door creaking open. Her heart stuttered in her chest as a tall, bulky figure stepped into the low light, a familiar silhouette that made her blood run cold.

"D-Dad?" she rasped out through her gag. "Is that you?"

Mr. Oni stepped closer, his eyes glittering with a mixture of satisfaction and regret. "Hello, Abeni. I'm so sorry it had to come to this."

Abeni's eyes widened in a mixture of fear and confusion. What was her father talking about? Why had he taken her?

"You see, your fancy man Dmitry and I have some...unfinished business to settle," Mr. Oni continued, almost casually. "I figured the best way to get his attention would be by taking his precious girlfriend hostage."

Tears sprang to Abeni's eyes as the weight of her father's words hit her. He had betrayed her, used her to get to Dmitry for some twisted revenge scheme. The man she had longed to reconnect with

The sound of his cellphone ringing startled him out of his dark reverie. He quickly fished it out, his heart leaping at the sight of an unknown caller ID. "Hello?" he barked out. "Dmitry..." The beloved sound of Abeni's tremulous voice made his knees nearly give out in relief. "Dmitry, it's me!" "Abeni! Oh thank god, where are you? Are you hurt?" The questions poured out in a torrent as tears pricked at the corners of his eyes. There was a slight pause before she replied. "I-I'm okay, I think. I've been moved around so much, I'm not even sure where I am anymore. But Dmitry...your father, and mine...they're working together on this. With the Morozovs." "I know, my love," Dmitry said, his voice strained. "I figured as much, the miserable snakes. But we'll get you away from them, I promise." "Be careful," Abeni warned. "They're dangerous. Unhinged. I...I never imagined my own father was capable of something like this." Dmitry coul

Dmitry's hands shook as he read over the anonymous message again, his mind racing with possibilities. An unknown source had provided potential coordinates of where Abeni might be held - deep in the abandoned trainyard on the outskirts of the city. It was a long shot...but at this point, he was desperate enough to try anything. "Sir, are you sure about this?" Sergei asked hesitantly as the team geared up. "For all we know, it could be a trap set by the Morozovs." Dmitry clenched his jaw, shoving the note into his pocket. "I don't have a choice, my friend. This is the first real lead we've gotten on Abeni's whereabouts. I have to follow it." He turned to address the rest of his men assembled in the warehouse they were using as a makeshift base. "Listen up! We have a possible location on where Abeni is being held. Abandoned trainyard on the west side - sector 12B. It's likely heavily guarded, so I need you all ready to breach and clear on my signal." A c

The creak of a door opening made her freeze, heart pounding in her throat. Heavy, booted footsteps approached and Abeni braced herself as a hulking figure emerged from the shadows. "Well, if it isn't our little hostage," a snarling voice accompanied the man. "Did you sleep well?" Abeni glared defiantly up at him, refusing to show her fear. "Who are you? What do you want from me?" The man laughed, a cruel and jarring sound. "So many questions. But don't worry that pretty little head of yours, darling. Soon it won't matter what I want." He leaned in close until Abeni could smell the sour reek of stale alcohol on his breath. A callused hand snaked out to grip her jaw in a crushing hold. "You just need to sit tight and keep that mouth of yours shut," he growled. "Your boyfriend is going to come for you eventually. And when he does..." His lips twisted in an unsettling grin. "Well, let's just say you're the bait we've been waiting for all along."

Back at the safe house, an uneasy silence had fallen over the assembled group as they scrutinized the evidence board. Olga stood with her arms crossed, a pensive frown creasing her brow. "Something still isn't adding up," she mused aloud. "Even with this location as a potential target, we're grasping at straws without more solid intel on who's keeping Abeni and why." Dmitry's jaw tightened, but before he could respond a sharp rap at the door made everyone tense. Sergei immediately raised his rifle as Dmitry gestured for the others to stay back, inching closer to the entrance. "Who is it?" he called out gruffly. "It's Boris, sir," came the muffled reply through the door. "I have something you'll want to see." Exchanging a wary glance with Sergei, Dmitry cracked open the door just wide enough for Boris to slip through before immediately slamming it shut again, securing the locks. The burly man stood before them, clutching a padded manila envelop

"Sergei," Dmitry said lowly, resting a hand on his friend's shoulder. "You know what to do if this all goes sideways, yes?" The other man held his gaze steadily. "Take care of your family. Always." Dmitry squeezed his shoulder firmly before turning to bark out orders. "Move it out! We breach on my signal!" As the takedown squads fanned out, Dmitry and Boris took up position behind a rusting cargo container, peering through the scope at the depot entrance. He could make out the silhouettes of armed guards patrolling the perimeter fences as trucks rumbled in and out. Tensing his jaw, Dmitry gripped his rifle tightly and gave a short, sharp nod to Boris. The big man lifted a stubby RPG launcher and took aim at the main gate's guardhouse. A muffled thud sounded - then the guardhouse erupted in a blossom of flame and shrapnel as Alexei's charges detonated in perfect unison with the rocket. "Go, go, go!" Dmitry shouted into his comms as chaos reigne

Just then, a blur of movement in his peripheral vision made his head whip around. One of the upper level windows shattered as a lithe figure came hurtling through, twin blades flashing in each hand. A gun barked - once, twice - and the two Morozov grunts flanking Grigory crumpled to the ground like rag dolls as the mysterious woman landed in a crouch. Grigory stumbled back, shoving Abeni aside as he raised his revolver. But the woman was impossibly fast, a mere shadow as she spun and lashed out with blinding speed. One dagger flew from her grasp to bury itself in Grigory's gun hand, causing him to bellow in rage and agony. The other flashed in a deadly arc, slicing across the tendons of his wrist and sending the revolver clattering uselessly to the ground. In the blink of an eye, she scooped up the discarded weapon and leveled it squarely at the older man's forehead, her full lips curled in a predatory smile. "I don't think so, Kuznetsov," she

A deafening silence fell over the depot as the last echo of Sergei's rifle shot faded. Dmitry tensed, his entire body coiled like a spring ready to strike at the slightest provocation. Grigory's revolver wavered, his rheumy eyes drifting towards the direction of the warehouse almost unwillingly. The woman beside him arched one elegant brow but made no move to stop the older man. Another shot rang out, this one unmistakably closer than before. Shouts and the metallic clatter of dropped weapons filtered through the hazy air. Grigorytrembled visibly, a muscle twitching erratically in his weathered jaw. Slowly, almost grudgingly, his gun arm began to drop until the barrel pointed harmlessly towards the cracked floor. "You..." he rasped out in a voice little more than gravel. "You've won, haven't you boy?" Relief crashed over Dmitry like a physical force, but he refused to show any outward reaction save for the barest dip of his chin. "It wou

Months had passed and Abeni was in the living room, watching tv, when Dmitry came downstairs."Good afternoon my love," he said, his deep voice sending shivers down her spine. "I hope you're feeling well rested." She looked up at him, her heart racing. He was dressed in a dark suit, his hair slicked back, making his ice-blue eyes stand out even more. "Yes, I am," she replied, her voice trembling slightly. "Why are you dressed up?" she asked standing up to get a better look at him. Dmitry took a step closer, his presence overwhelming her senses. "I have a business party tonight," he said, his fingers running through his hair. "And I thought it would be better if you accompanied me as my date." Abeni bit her lip, unsure how to react. This was the first time he had invited her to anything like this. "Really?" she asked, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. "Yes, really," he said with a reassuring smile. "I think you'll enjoy it.
