A deafening silence fell over the depot as the last echo of Sergei's rifle shot faded. Dmitry tensed, his entire body coiled like a spring ready to strike at the slightest provocation.

Grigory's revolver wavered, his rheumy eyes drifting towards the direction of the warehouse almost unwillingly. The woman beside him arched one elegant brow but made no move to stop the older man.

Another shot rang out, this one unmistakably closer than before. Shouts and the metallic clatter of dropped weapons filtered through the hazy air.

Grigory trembled visibly, a muscle twitching erratically in his weathered jaw. Slowly, almost grudgingly, his gun arm began to drop until the barrel pointed harmlessly towards the cracked floor.

"You..." he rasped out in a voice little more than gravel. "You've won, haven't you boy?"

Relief crashed over Dmitry like a physical force, but he refused to show any outward reaction save for the barest dip of his chin. "It wou

"I hope you're feeling well rested." She looked up at him, her heart racing. He was dressed in a dark suit, his hair slicked back, making his ice-blue eyes stand out even more. "Yes, I am," she replied, her voice trembling slightly. "Why are you dressed up?" she asked standing up to get a better look at him. Dmitry took a step closer, his presence overwhelming her senses. "I have a business party tonight," he said, his fingers running through his hair. "And I thought it would be better if you accompanied me as my date." Abeni bit her lip, unsure how to react. This was the first time he had invited her to anything like this. "Really?" she asked, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. "Yes, really," he said with a reassuring smile. "I think you'll enjoy it.

"Ah, I see you've met Aleksandr." Dmitry said, his voice cold and menacing. "Aleksandr, I think you should apologize to my woman for being so forward." Aleksandr's face turned red with anger, but he knew better than to challenge Dmitry. He muttered something under his breath and turned away, disappearing into the crowd. Dmitry took Abeni's hand and led her to the other side of the room, away from prying ears. "Are you alright?" he asked, his voice gentle but firm. Abeni nodded, trying to steady her breath. "I'm sorry about that," Dmitry continued. "I shouldn't have left your side. It won't happen again." She looked up at him, her eyes filled with gratitude. "It's okay," she said softly. "I understand." They stood there for a moment, just looking at each other, the tension between them palpable. Then, without warning, Dmitry leaned in and kissed her passionately. The kiss was long and deep, sending a wave of desire through Abeni's body. When they finally pulled apart,

Half of the mansion was engulfed in flames, the fire dancing wildly against the night sky. The servants had already been evacuated, and the fire brigade was on its way. Dmitry's heart sank as he took in the devastation before him. This was no accident. Someone had targeted him, his home, and his people. He quickly instructed Abeni to go stay in the car, ensuring she was safe and out of harm's way, before rushing over to his men. "Boss!" several of Dmitry's men called out as he hurried over to them. They nodded in agreement when he glanced back at the burning mansion, their faces grim. "We need to get everyone to safety," he said, his voice calm despite the chaos around them. She glanced over at Dmitry, who was still sleeping soundly, and then looked around the room, trying to orient herself. The knock on the door sounded again, this time louder. She sat up in bed, her heart racing slightly, and then reached for the robe that was draped over the chair near the bed. As she slipped it on, she glanced at Dmitry, wondering if she should wake him. In the end, she decided not to; she would investigate the source of the knocking herself. As she walked through the spacious bedroom,
