Erica's POV

"Erica, what is wrong with you?" my mum asked, her voice all laced with concern after watching me run out for the third time to empty my stomach in the restroom. I was losing strength as a result of all the energy used in throwing up.

I had woken up with a terrible headache, nausea, and a bad stomach upset.

"I think, I am having an allergy," I said, to my mum who seem to be inspecting every part of my body with her eyes.

"You will come with me to see the doctor this afternoon," She said.

"Mum, I'm fine, I'm sure it's nothing," I said, spitting out the bad taste that lingered on my tongue into the washing sink.

"Then you have nothing to be scared of, we are going to see the doctor and that's it" She snapped back.

We got to the hospital and after some time, the doctor came to ask me some questions which I felt were unnecessary. After which my blood sample was taken for the test. We sat down there, my mum and I were lost deep in our thoughts a

Third person's POV It's been eight years since she last saw him, eight good years since he just left her without a word whatsoever. She remembered how she was made jest of, spent days in police detention, watching her parents sell their valuables to help her out, for accusations she knew nothing about. He never for once came to check up on her, if not for Lucas she will properly still be wasting away in jail. Seeing him now brought back so many bad memories she has tried so hard to forget. He is a monster and all monsters need to be treated as one. "What's up with you Erica?" Frank asked staring at her from across her desk. He wanted to know why she was looking all stunned and unable to compose herself even in his presence. Frank had never seen Erica in that vulnerable state before, he wished he could do more but still did not want to overstep his boundaries, she was still his superior after all. "I'm fine Frank, just having a slight headache" she finally said after what felt lik

Seven years agoFlashback "Congratulations, it's a boy!" The doctors said as they showed me, my baby. He looked just like the photocopy of his dad and that made me cry. How can I be the one to suffer alone all through and the baby comes out looking like the dad? It's not fair. Two months later "Mum, the baby is crying," I said, as I hurried up to get dressed to go to the bar where I worked as a bartender "Just breastfeed the baby darling, I'm sure he wants to sleep," Mum said from where she was washing the baby's clothes. "But my nipples are hurting bad and I need to be at work," I said amid tears. "It's OK pumpkin, just bring the baby and his formula to me," daddy said. As soon as my dad carries him, he becomes quiet. "See that wasn't so hard," daddy said with a big grin spread across his face. End of flashback Now "Ma'am, Ma'am, we are here," the driver said, as he opens the door to the car. The ride was a long one and I must have slept off at some point. I opened my eye

  • Damian Anderson   Chapter 36

Erica I have been at home since that unfortunate night at Damian's place. I had called in sick on Friday and was just using that to stay away from seeing Damian. Childish? I know, I can't believe how helpless I am when I am with him. Alex had gone out earlier to visit his grandparents downtown. The house was boring and lonely, and being by myself was not helping my course. My cell phone rang, and I checked to see that it was Frank that was calling. He has been bugging me about being my date for the farewell party for our former CEO. I sighed deeply as I picked up the call. "Hello," I said. "Hey Erica, where are you, I will be at your house in thirty minutes to pick you up, be ready and beautiful," he said, and before I could say something he ended the call. I know I have to go to the party if for nothing, but for my former CEO's sake. I mean, that maas a heaven-sent. He was the first person to give me a shot after I graduated from school, after so many companies turned me down

Erica Being at the same table with Damian Anderson, was not definitely on my get the ex jealous plan, when I decided to come out and party this evening. I don't even understand why I have to get him jealous, I don't want him because I freaking hate his guts. Can you believe that he is even engaged? How am I going to make an ex getting married soon to a beautiful model body girl jealous? "Erica, Erica" Frank called out. I quickly snapped out of my thoughts to see why he was calling me. I turned to see him wanting to give me a piece of cake, I stylishly turned him down, but been that it's Frank we are talking about, he insisted, and I had no option other than obliging. As if in the queue, Damian and his girlfriend walked in. "You guys can't seem to get your hands off each other" Cassandra said with a smile. "I love her a lot but she wouldn't give me any chance because she is scared of heartbreak," Frank said while looking at me, which made me smile a bit. "Aww so sweet," Cassand

  • Damian Anderson   Chapter 38

Damian's POV It was difficult sneaking out of the party, some so many people wanted to see me discuss business. I don't understand why people feel that the best place to talk about business is at a party. I was glad when I finally had the opportunity to disappear and I made a run for it. By the time I returned from the party she was already fast asleep. I watched her sleeping beautifully and only God knows how much I have truly missed this sight of hers. I took off my shoes and jacket before helping her take off her sandals. I used the blanket to cover her properly as she stretches a bit. I wanted to wake her up, so we could talk, but even I seem lost for words. When I did ensure she was comfortable enough, I walked over to where the fridge was and brought out a chilled bottle of fruit wine. I poured some into an empty glass while I took a little sip from it. I sat down on the only chair available in the room. My mind drifted to the events of that unfortunate evening eight years

  • Damian Anderson   Chapter 39

Erica I woke up the next morning with a terrible headache, my throat was hurting like hell. I struggled to get out of the bed, as everything appear to be blurry as I walked out of my room. I managed to get to my kitchen, after which I opened the fridge to get a chilled bottle of water to drink. Hopefully, it cures me of my hangover. It's Sunday morning and I have nothing planned, I sat down on one of the chairs in the kitchen as my mind drifted to the events of the early hours. It felt good to be able to pour out my heart to him, and the alcohol was very instrumental in achieving that. My stomach started rumbling for food as I stood up and walked towards the fridge and opened it to see that there was little or no food inside, That could quench my hunger. With Alex and his nanny gone for the weekend, there was no foodstuff at home. I planned on going grocery shopping in the evening. I was still contemplating what next to do when my doorbell rang, I quickly threw on my housecoat a

Erica's POV "Come in" I heard him say after knocking on his door. I went in and our eyes met almost instantly but I was quick to shift my gaze. My heart was beating so fast as I walked closer to him and my brain went completely blank. "Please sit," he said. And I found myself unable to disagree with him, as I sat down while my eyes went around his office, but not his eyes, definitely not his eyes. "How are you Erica," he asked after some time had passed, as I could feel his eyes steadily on me. There was something about the way I felt around him, no matter how angry I might have been, immediately after I see him all my anger disappears. I always feel happy and safe whenever I am with him. "I'm fine, thank you," I said, still resisting the urge to look at him in his beautiful blue eyes. Those years we were apart, I use to think about him every time I see the color blue. I started fondling with my hands as I tried to neglect the urge of wanting him to wrap me in his big strong ha

  • Damian Anderson   Chapter 41

Erica's POV It's been a week since we had that conversation at Damian's office and truthfully, it has been difficult working with him in the same office. I have thought of resigning to look for work elsewhere, but what if I don't get a good job as lucrative as this one. I do have many responsibilities on my shoulders. I can't afford to be in any financial crisis at the moment. But, I need to leave this office for my sanity's sake, the display of emotions between him and his soon-to-be wife is not helping my issue. I sighed as I inspect the proposed images of an estate on my screen, it is going to be a beautiful estate when it is finally constructed. It had its superstore, a pharmacy, a twenty-hour power supply, an emergency health center, swimming, a kids playground, a gym and so much more. It will be a perfect house for families who wants the best out of life and course, can also afford the bills. Just then, I saw Cassandra coming in with what I assume to be a lunch pack for Da

Two weeks later Erica's POV We came back from my father's funeral, and there were lots of guests in the house. The funeral reception was held at the beach. There were so many people trooping in and out of the compound. I was only familiar with a handful of them, most of them came through Damian. All his effort to keep private how rich he was, has been soiled. Every newspaper and magazine house has managed to uncover more companies that are privately owned by him. They are even recommending him for the presidency after his unbiased sentiment at Sophia and Cassandra's trial. He has recruited more security guards for me and Alex since I left the hospital. I told him I would like to go back to work after all things said and done. He is still thinking about it. "Hi, Erica or should I say, ma'am?" Frank said smiling while

He is been asking after his mother and all my explanations to him have fallen on deaf ears. He is yet to get used to living with me alone. I am yet to get used to living alone. "Soon buddy," I said. Its been three months since Erica was poisoned by Sophia and her cohorts. It's been difficult going through every day uncertain of what my next call will be about. I tried to stay strong if for nobody, but for Alex, who has been constantly asking about when his mother will be coming back. That is a question I don't have an answer to, but hopeful that one day I will hold her in my hands again, and we would laugh and joke about all that we have been through. Those days may look like a fairy tal

  • Damian Anderson   Chapter 54

Erica's POV I stood at my mirror staring at the white dress I had on, with my makeup lightly done, and my hair packed to one side. I was beautiful on the outside but was a total wretch on the inside. I had some point wishes at some point, I was the bride. I can't believe how my decision was about to change my life either for the better or the worst. My mind drifted to the first time I saw Damian in my room back in the university, we had a connection. I knew he was always going to be the one that made my heart mad or merry. I knew he was always going to be that fire that I will gladly be consumed in. I thought of how many troubles we have been together and the years we have spent apart. I can't believe this whole dumb idea came from me. I heard a car horn from outside my apartment as I worked to the window to go see who it was. The driver came down from the car and I recognized him as one of Damian's drivers. He was the same man that drove me t

  • Damian Anderson   Chapter 53

Erica's POV With just two days to the wedding, I was starting to grow cold feet over the decisions I made weeks ago. I had gone home to drop Alex with my parents and decided to spend some time with them. Cassandra has been acting up and I seriously wish that she doesn't show up for the wedding, that she should stick with the original plan. It would break my heart to see Damian be separated from me again. "Hey pumpkin" dad called from where he was seated to get my attention. "Yes dad" I answered rolling my eyes. I wonder why he still calls me pumpkin, someone needs to tell him, I am a grown-ass woman now. "Have you seen this?" He asked pointing to the magazine he had been reading to me, I went closer to him to see what he was trying to show me. On getting there, I discovered it was the picture of Cassandra and Damian Photoshop together. I felt sad, Cassandra looked happy in the picture, what if she decides to go ahea

Erica POV It's been two weeks since I resumed at the head office, working here has been a lot of fun, and If anything, I did not see my happy ending coming so soon, especially not in those days I was struggling between school, and baby, and work. It was a tough road, but I'm glad I finally found my happiness. I sat in my new office, going through some documents that has been placed on my table. The head office is different from my previous office, this one was larger and well equipped. The environment is nice and very comfortable to work in. My office is on the ninth floor, and I have just a handful of others here with me. I was told the tenth floor is for the CEO only and that no one is allowed in unless, of course, he authorizes it. My office is spacious and beautiful. I have a fridge that has different drinks and snacks, a comfortable space where I can take a nap, and a beautiful view from outside my window. I also have access to an official car that would be given to me anyti

  • Damian Anderson   Chapter 51

Cassandra's POV After the show, we sat down, counting our money backstage. the business has been very slow lately because people that come to the club these days hardly spend as they should. Big spenders do not come to locally owned clubs for their own safety sake, as there have been reports of extortion, robbing, and drugs being slipped into the customer's drink. So they rather go to big clubhouses, where they are assured of security and safety precautions. "What's up with you and Damian?" Sophia asked, after some time of watching me arrange my money. "Nothing much, he has found his girl and making plans to discard me soon," I said in a sad tone. "So after all these years, he still loves and wants her," Sophia said, a lot of envy is evidence in her tune. I have been friends with Sophia for close to five years now. We first met when she came as an escort with another Mafia Don that was killed by Gabriel. He then took possession of her and made her his whore. She told me of how

  • Damian Anderson   Chapter 50

Erica's POV "So what is going to happen now?" I asked after a long time of silence. Cassandra was sitting close to me, while Damian stood at the far end of the sitting room. We have been deliberating on how to handle the marriage issue between Damian and Cassandra. The press has gotten wind of it, and it was slowly becoming the talk of the town. I just sat down there feeling bad and guilty, because I somehow feel this was my fault. I mean, if I had just accepted Damian the first time we met, all these troubles won't be happening. "I'm so sorry guys, I did not know how this got out so fast," Cassandra said, sounding genuinely sorry, from her tone of voice. "It's alright Cassandra," Damian said as he walks towards us. "I should be the one saying sorry, I should have just told him it was a rumor when he called me, I am so confused, this is why I hate bringing press into my personal life, they have a way of escalating things," Damian
