Erica's POV

I woke up with a terrible headache as I struggled to open my eyes. When I finally did, I saw Damian staring at his laptop.

"Hey," I said as I tried sitting up on the bed, but damn this headache.

"You should drink this water," he said handing me a bottle of water.

"What is wrong with me?" I asked.

"You are having a hangover," he said as he climb into the space beside me on the bed.

I opened the bottle and drank water from it. I turned to see him smiling at me.

"What?" I asked

"Do you remember anything from last night?" He asked looking into my eyes.

I smiled and looked into his eyes. "Which part? The club or the office desk?" I asked teasing. That made him laugh as he took my hands in his.

"I want you to promise me something," he said his eyes never leaving mine for a second, his tune a bit serious.

Damian's POV I have been very busy since the commencement of exams, it is been hectic trying to find a balance between all the activities I am involved in. My top priority was my final exam. This was my final exam in college, and I was going to put in my hundred and one percent. The second trimester is project compilation and presentations. It is often believed that rich kids don't do much, well I don't belong to that school of thought. I don't want anybody telling me I am where I am, because my father is where he is. I want to be able to stand on my own with or without my dad's support. I thought of picking up Erica after her exam for a quick lunch. That was when I saw her walking with Jake. That guy seems to fancy everything I like. He was my running mate as president of the student union. I like him a lot because he is smart, but I'm a lot smarter, and in a different time and place, we could make good friends. I still get the vibes that he feels we are still in some sort of c

I woke up the following morning to find Damian still sleeping, but as I was about to get up, I noticed someone was standing by the door staring at us. On a closer look, I discovered it was Sophia shooting dagger stares at us. After a while, she walked out slamming the door after her. I couldn't help but think about what Sophia was capable of, especially now that she has seen Damian and me in bed together. I should probably just start making my last wishes. Damian woke up as his hand searches the bed for me. "Good morning," I said trying to fake a smile. "Good morning" he replied. Using his right hand to pull me closer to himself, he serenades me with kisses "where do u think you are going?" he asked circling my nipple with the tip of his finger. "I have to go get ready for the party, remember?" I said trying to sound as normal as possible so he doesn't notice the building tension in my voice. "Something is off, are you alright?" He asked bringing my face closer to himself, his ey

Eight years laterErica's POV Wake upEricawake upI sprang up from my bed panting heavily. It was a dream, thank God, It was a dream. Damn! These dreams seem to be reoccurring these days, it's been eight years and yet it feels like yesterday. Some people dream about their worst nightmares, I have lived mine in reality. And no matter how hard I try to get it off my mind, it's buried deep within me, it haunts me now and then. The eight years that drastically turned threw me into a world I wasn't prepared for. I learned my lessons the hardest way anyone could imagine, and the greatest lesson of all was, that love is overrated.People fall in love for selfish reasons and fall out of it as soon as their expectations are meant."Mum are you alright?" Alex, my seven years old son asked while he stares at me, his little blue blues laced with worries and concerns. I love my son with everything I have, but he is also my constant reminder of how stupid and naive I was when I had him.It was a

Erica POV I entered the office with my team members and we were welcome by the uproar of happy cheerful staff. We clinched the project from Oasis company against all odds. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, jokes, and smiling faces. As I worked towards my office I checked to see if Mr. Wallace was in his seat, but could not see him. Mr. Wallace is the CEO of the company. It is very unlike him not to be in the office on a Monday. As I got to my office, I sat down and was about to pick up the phone to call Mr. Wallace, just to check up on him when Frank, one of my colleagues, entered my office. He is the head of graphics design. He is in his early thirties, fine face is of moderate height, and is very good at what he does. Other than that, he is a jerk. He has been bugging me about us dating him for some time now. And he is not taking a no for an answer. He thinks I do not know about his escapades around the office, he has been rumored to be frolicking with most single ladies

Eight years before Erica's POV "Erica, what is wrong with you?" my mum asked, her voice all laced with concern after watching me run out for the third time to empty my stomach in the restroom. I was losing strength as a result of all the energy used in throwing up. I had woken up with a terrible headache, nausea, and a bad stomach upset. "I think, I am having an allergy," I said, to my mum who seem to be inspecting every part of my body with her eyes. "You will come with me to see the doctor this afternoon," She said. "Mum, I'm fine, I'm sure it's nothing," I said, spitting out the bad taste that lingered on my tongue into the washing sink. "Then you have nothing to be scared of, we are going to see the doctor and that's it" She snapped back. ***** We got to the hospital and after some time, the doctor came to ask me some questions which I felt were unnecessary. After which my blood sample was taken for the test. We sat down there, my mum and I were lost deep in our thoughts a

Third person's POV It's been eight years since she last saw him, eight good years since he just left her without a word whatsoever. She remembered how she was made jest of, spent days in police detention, watching her parents sell their valuables to help her out, for accusations she knew nothing about. He never for once came to check up on her, if not for Lucas she will properly still be wasting away in jail. Seeing him now brought back so many bad memories she has tried so hard to forget. He is a monster and all monsters need to be treated as one. "What's up with you Erica?" Frank asked staring at her from across her desk. He wanted to know why she was looking all stunned and unable to compose herself even in his presence. Frank had never seen Erica in that vulnerable state before, he wished he could do more but still did not want to overstep his boundaries, she was still his superior after all. "I'm fine Frank, just having a slight headache" she finally said after what felt lik

Seven years agoFlashback "Congratulations, it's a boy!" The doctors said as they showed me, my baby. He looked just like the photocopy of his dad and that made me cry. How can I be the one to suffer alone all through and the baby comes out looking like the dad? It's not fair. Two months later "Mum, the baby is crying," I said, as I hurried up to get dressed to go to the bar where I worked as a bartender "Just breastfeed the baby darling, I'm sure he wants to sleep," Mum said from where she was washing the baby's clothes. "But my nipples are hurting bad and I need to be at work," I said amid tears. "It's OK pumpkin, just bring the baby and his formula to me," daddy said. As soon as my dad carries him, he becomes quiet. "See that wasn't so hard," daddy said with a big grin spread across his face. End of flashback Now "Ma'am, Ma'am, we are here," the driver said, as he opens the door to the car. The ride was a long one and I must have slept off at some point. I opened my eye

Erica I have been at home since that unfortunate night at Damian's place. I had called in sick on Friday and was just using that to stay away from seeing Damian. Childish? I know, I can't believe how helpless I am when I am with him. Alex had gone out earlier to visit his grandparents downtown. The house was boring and lonely, and being by myself was not helping my course. My cell phone rang, and I checked to see that it was Frank that was calling. He has been bugging me about being my date for the farewell party for our former CEO. I sighed deeply as I picked up the call. "Hello," I said. "Hey Erica, where are you, I will be at your house in thirty minutes to pick you up, be ready and beautiful," he said, and before I could say something he ended the call. I know I have to go to the party if for nothing, but for my former CEO's sake. I mean, that maas a heaven-sent. He was the first person to give me a shot after I graduated from school, after so many companies turned me down

Two weeks later Erica's POV We came back from my father's funeral, and there were lots of guests in the house. The funeral reception was held at the beach. There were so many people trooping in and out of the compound. I was only familiar with a handful of them, most of them came through Damian. All his effort to keep private how rich he was, has been soiled. Every newspaper and magazine house has managed to uncover more companies that are privately owned by him. They are even recommending him for the presidency after his unbiased sentiment at Sophia and Cassandra's trial. He has recruited more security guards for me and Alex since I left the hospital. I told him I would like to go back to work after all things said and done. He is still thinking about it. "Hi, Erica or should I say, ma'am?" Frank said smiling while

Its been three months since Erica was poisoned by Sophia and her cohorts. It's been difficult going through every day uncertain of what my next call will be about. I tried to stay strong if for nobody, but for Alex, who has been constantly asking about when his mother will be coming back. That is a question I don't have an answer to, but hopeful that one day I will hold her in my hands again, and we would laugh and joke about all that we have been through. Those days may look like a fairy tal

Erica's POV I stood at my mirror staring at the white dress I had on, with my makeup lightly done, and my hair packed to one side. I was beautiful on the outside but was a total wretch on the inside. I had some point wishes at some point, I was the bride. I can't believe how my decision was about to change my life either for the better or the worst. My mind drifted to the first time I saw Damian in my room back in the university, we had a connection. I knew he was always going to be the one that made my heart mad or merry. I knew he was always going to be that fire that I will gladly be consumed in. I thought of how many troubles we have been together and the years we have spent apart. I can't believe this whole dumb idea came from me. I heard a car horn from outside my apartment as I worked to the window to go see who it was. The driver came down from the car and I recognized him as one of Damian's drivers. He was the same man that drove me t

I had gone home to drop Alex with my parents and decided to spend some time with them. Cassandra has been acting up and I seriously wish that she doesn't show up for the wedding, that she should stick with the original plan. It would break my heart to see Damian be separated from me again. "Hey pumpkin" dad called from where he was seated to get my attention. "Yes dad" I answered rolling my eyes. I wonder why he still calls me pumpkin, someone needs to tell him, I am a grown-ass woman now. "Have you seen this?" Erica POV It's been two weeks since I resumed at the head office, working here has been a lot of fun, and If anything, I did not see my happy ending coming so soon, especially not in those days I was struggling between school, and baby, and work. It was a tough road, but I'm glad I finally found my happiness. I sat in my new office, going through some documents that has been placed on my table. The head office is different from my previous office, this one was larger and well equipped. The environment is nice and very comfortable to work in. My office is on the ninth floor, and I have just a handful of others here with me. I was told the tenth floor is for the CEO only and that no one is allowed in unless, of course, he authorizes it. My office is spacious and beautiful. I have a fridge that has different drinks and snacks, a comfortable space where I can take a nap, and a beautiful view from outside my window. I also have access to an official car that would be given to me anyti

Cassandra's POV After the show, we sat down, counting our money backstage. the business has been very slow lately because people that come to the club these days hardly spend as they should. Big spenders do not come to locally owned clubs for their own safety sake, as there have been reports of extortion, robbing, and drugs being slipped into the customer's drink. So they rather go to big clubhouses, where they are assured of security and safety precautions. "What's up with you and Damian?" Sophia asked, after some time of watching me arrange my money. "Nothing much, he has found his girl and making plans to discard me soon," I said in a sad tone. "So after all these years, he still loves and wants her," Sophia said, a lot of envy is evidence in her tune. I have been friends with Sophia for close to five years now. We first met when she came as an escort with another Mafia Don that was killed by Gabriel. He then took possession of her and made her his whore. She told me of how

We have been deliberating on how to handle the marriage issue between Damian and Cassandra. The press has gotten wind of it, and it was slowly becoming the talk of the town. I just sat down there feeling bad and guilty, because I somehow feel this was my fault. I mean, if I had just accepted Damian the first time we met, all these troubles won't be happening. "I'm so sorry guys, I did not know how this got out so fast," Cassandra said, sounding genuinely sorry, from her tone of voice. "It's alright Cassandra," Damian said as he walks towards us. "I should be the one saying sorry, I should have just told him it was a rumor when he called me, I am so confused, this is why I hate bringing press into my personal life, they have a way of escalating things," Damian
