CHAPTER 91: THE RITUAL

Meredith’s POV

Ten minutes earlier…

“A lot has happened these past few weeks; you have been knocked out,” Caelen tells Saul, and I take that as my cue to leave. I did not want to sit here and take a trip down memory lane.

I hop off the bed and clear my throat loudly, catching all their attention.

“I am feeling a bit suffocated here. I am going to get some fresh air. I will leave you three to catch up,” I say hurriedly, but Saul grabs my wrist before I can leave.

“Are you okay?” he asks, and I hate how he looks at me with so much confusion and oblivion. He has absolutely no idea what I have been through these past few weeks.

“Uh, yeah, I am,” I lie, unable to meet his eyes. I can tell that he still wants to ask me more questions, but I yanked my wrist free before he could get the chance. I make sure not to meet any of their gazes as I walk out of the room.
