Sean offered me water immediately and I gulped down the entire content.
I couldn't believe my ears. But seriously, how could my father just suggest something like this without telling me? Well, he can since he doesn't know that I'm in love with his best friend. "Are you alright?" Sean asked me and I nodded in response. I couldn't find my voice hence the nod. "Are you sure you're fine?" Sean asked me and I managed to say something. "Yes, I'm fine." I said to him with a smile. I turned to face Esmeralda who didn't even care that I was choking. I frowned at her, unnoticeably of course, but she didn't even seem to be paying attention to me. We finished the rest of our meal in silence and I got up soon afterwards. "I have to go." I said to Sean who smiled at me and nodded. "Thanks for the meal, it was delicious." I said to Sean once again. "Bye." I tried to say to Esmeralda who simply shrugged at me. I turned and left the restaurant, walking all the way back to my office, since it wasn't far away and I needed to digest my food anyways. Once I got into the building, I took the elevator back to my office. I plopped down on my swivel chair and my mind drifted off to what Sean had told me earlier. My father asked him if I could stay with him. Would I call that an opportunity or what? Thinking about how I would get to see Sean when I wake up in the morning and before I go to bed had me blushing real bad. My face was totally red and I almost squealed. However, I heard a knock on my door and I tried to compose myself. "Come in." I said and the person stepped into my office. It was someone whom I couldn't recognize, well, since I'm new and all. "You must be Ava." He said to me once he was inside my office and I raised my brows in confusion. "Yes, I'm Ava Bennett and you are?" I asked because I was confused as to why a total stranger would just show up in my office ask me what my name is. "I came here during break but you weren't here." He declared and I frowned. Why would be at my office during break? We don't even know each other. I sighed softly and continued to stare at him as I had nothing to say to him. "I'm Dylan by the way." He finally introduced himself but I didn't care at this point. "Nice to meet you Ava, I'll see you around, I have to get back to work right now." Dylan said before turning and leaving my office. I sighed heavily in confusion. What just happened? Did I just get myself acquainted with a weirdo? I sighed heavily and decided to continue with my work. I don't want to get distracted when it's just my first day here. I want to make a good first impression. The day ended before I knew it and I packed my bags, ready to leave. Once I was done, I stepped out of my office and walked towards the elevator. There, I met that guy from earlier. Dylan, was it? I tried to avoid him but the lady that stood beside me soon noticed me. I don't know how she knew my name but I'm guessing that Dylan guy must have told her. "You must be Ava right?" She said with a high pitched voice and I couldn't help but feel irritated. "Yes." I answered nevertheless. "Nice to meet you, I'm Tiffany." She said as she extended her hands for a handshake. And in that moment, the elevator opened and I stepped in, ignoring the hands that she had extended to me. "Oh, the elevator." She didn't seem offended by what I had done. Instead, she stepped inside along with Dylan from earlier who was only watching our interactions. "So, Dylan and I are going for drinks after work, do you to join us?" She asked me. "Oh, I won't be able to, I'm new in town so I have a lot of stuffs to do." I lied while smiling so that she wouldn't notice. "Do you need help with packing?" She asked again. "Dylan and I can help with that." She said and I tried to maintain my smile so as to not look utterly pissed off like I actually was. "No thankyou, I already have someone who will help me with that." I answered her and as if on cue, the elevator doors opened and I sprinted out of it. Walking really fast towards the big doors of the building. Once I was out, I flagged down a taxi and got inside. I told him where I was going to and he drove me straight to the hotel where I was currently staying. I paid for the fare and got out of the taxi, walking straight to the elevator that took me to my hotel room. Once I was inside, I sat on my bed with plop as I tried to register what had happened today. Not with my creepy coworker but with Sean Frazer. My first love. My current love. Would I call this fate or destiny? How is possible that the man of my dreams wants me to come and live with him? Well, technically, my parents were the ones who asked him but don't try to change my delusions. I giggled to myself as I thought about the benefits of staying with Sean. Not only will I get to see him day and night, I might even get to see him... I wasn't able to complete that thought because I heard a beep from my phone. I picked it up to look at it and I could see that I had one new message. I opened it and I smiled once I saw who was texting me. The message read- "Hi, this is Sean, I got your number from your dad, I'll come over to pick you up during the weekend, I'm sure you wouldn't like to move on a weekday, with work and all that." "Sleep tight." My heart felt full as I read the message that Sean had just sent me. I read it over and over again until I fell asleep. The weekend came soon enough and Sean came to get me from the hotel where I was staying. My bags were already packed and I was ready to leave. I've been waiting for this day all week.I was excited. I'm not familiar with New York city but the moment we got to Sean's neighborhood, I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me that I was in a rich neighborhood.Everywhere looked amazing. Finally, we arrived at Sean's house and he helped me bring my bags out of the trunk. He also helped me wheel them into the house while I followed him with a smile on my face. I was overexcited to be in his home. When we got to the living room, I marveled at the sight of it. It was beautiful. However, we were soon interrupted by Esmeralda who seemed shocked to see us inside the house. "What are you doing here?" Sean's tone suddenly changed. I stood there, watching their interaction with one another and I couldn't help but notice that something was off or was I reading too much into it?"Esmeralda.." Sean
It's been a few days since I've been staying in Sean's mansion. After that night with Sean, I've not been able to stop thinking about him. The way his arms felt around my waist. The smell of his cologne. The warmth of his breath on my neck.I couldn't stop thinking about it. It was doing things to me.Things that I never knew that I could feel.Simply watching him alone got me thinking dirty thoughts and I wished we had gone far that night. But the sad thing about all of this was that he didn't remember.Or was he pretending not to?Was he embarrassed by what he had done?Because if he was, I don't want him to be. I would give him my all if he ever demands for it. "Are you going to work now?" Sean asked, jolting me from my reverie."Yes, I am." I answered and looked away from him. We were currently having a breakfast of toast and bacons and yet looking at him, made the food naughty. "Should I drop you off?" He asked and I gulped down my drink. "No, I'm sure I can take a cab.
Ava's POV. I looked at Kevin and I waited for him to say something but he didn't say anything. He just continued to look at me, waiting for me to pick up my call. I decided to deal with it later and just pick up the call so that Sean wouldn't think that I'm avoiding his call. "Hello." I said once I picked up the call. "Hi, Ava." Sean's voice came on the phone. "Is Kevin there?" He asked me. "Yeah, he is." I answered as I nodded my head even when I knew he couldn't see me. "Well, Kevin is going to bring you over, we're going to have that dinner today." He explained and I smiled. "Okay." I answered. "I hope you don't mind." He said softly afterwards and my smile widened even more. "I don't." I said with a smile.I can't believe he's being an actual gentleman by asking me if I mind when he can just ask me to do something and I would do it willingly. "See you soon." He said to me before hanging up. I brought my phone down from my ears with a smile on my face and it wasn't unt
Ava's POV. "Show him Ava." Kevin said to me and I choked on my food. Penelope handed me a glass of water immediately and I drank from it, gulping down the entire content. "Thankyou very much." I said once I was feeling better. Penelope glared at her brother while Kevin shrugged. I don't know what Kevin was trying to achieve by saying that but I was certainly upset that he did that. He should have just had a conversation with me regarding it instead of outing me like that. That's just plain rude. The rest of the meal went fine as we all talked about other stuffs. I was glad that Sean didn't even contribute after he saw that I was having a coughing fit. Although he looked at me in concern while I was coughing. Soon, the meal was over and we all got ready to leave. Sean paid for our meal like the perfect gentleman that he was and it only increased my respect for him. And I was glad. I smiled as Penelope and I walked hand in hand out of the VIP room where we were having our
Sean's POV. I was currently at work, trying to focus. My mind has occupied with the recent happenings in my life.Although I'm glad that Ava is here to distract me from them. I never knew that living alone could be so lonely. But when Ava came to stay with me, I realized that I had been lonely all these while. And maybe that's why I'm not eager to help Ava find somewhere suitable to live because if she leaves, I'll be lonely. But as a young girl, I'm sure she wants to go out and have fun with people that are her age, instead of hanging out with an older man like myself. I've noticed that she usually comes back home from work just on time and she barely spends time with her colleagues from work. That's just awful and I'm worried that it might be my fault that she's doing that. She might be doing that because she noticed that I'm always alone whenever I return from work.I don't want to be the one holding such a young girl back from doing youthful things. I don't want to be th
Ava's POV. I was currently at work. Work has been so hectic these past few days but I've always made sure to finish it because I want to go home early to see Sean. And I'm glad he's always at home whenever I return because that way we'll have time to talk and even have dinner together every night. Knock knock. I heard a knock on my office door and I raised by brows in confusion. Who could possibly be here by this time?"Who is it?" I asked curiously. "Damon." The person answered in a cool voice. "Damon?" I repeated in confusion. Why would he be here? "Yes." He answered. "Come in." I said so he could come in. "Hi, how are you doing?" He said with a sweet smile on his face once he stepped into my office. "I'm okay." I answered, trying to return his smile but mine was an awkward one. "...." We remained quiet for a short moment. "Uhm, why.." I finally spoke up but then I took a long pause. "W-why are you here?" I stuttered. "Won't you even ask me to sit down?" He asked m
Ava's POV .We soon arrived at the chicken restaurant and we all settled down and somehow, I ended up sitting down in between Tiffany and Damon. Talk about having the worse fate. Tiffany was the one who made the order. She ordered barbequed chicken, fried chicken and garlic chicken with barbeque sauce. She also ordered for some beer which was the first thing that was served. "So tell me, Ava, do you have a boyfriend back in Florida?" Tiffany asked me and I sighed heavily. Why is everyone asking me the same question?"No." I answered. "How did you know I'm from Florida?" I asked once I noticed what she said. "Damon told me." She shrugged. "Oh." I mumbled, when did he have time to tell her this? "Why not?, you're really pretty you know." She added and it felt awkward. "Uhm thanks?" I mumbled. "So why not?" Someone else from the group asked. "I was busy studying." I answered truthfully. "Well, you seem like the studious type so I'll believe that." Tiffany added. "So why are
Ava's POV. "Why not?" I asked Tiffany for the umpteenth time. "Don't you know who he is?" She shrugged. "No." I said with raised brows. Am I supposed to know who he is besides him being my coworker? "He's the boss's son." She answered and I frowned. "Does being the boss's son means he can do whatever he wants?" I scoffed. "Well, that's pretty much it." She said to me as she walked out of the restroom, leaving me standing there completely gobsmacked by this new information I'm just receiving. Being the boss's son gives him even more reason to be a decent person but yet he chooses to be a douche and thinks he can go Scott free? What kind of fucked up situation is this? Does being in high places mean that people should behave this way? I guess New York city would be teaching me a lot more than I already know. I mean did he think... Ugh! You know what? I'm just going to get out of here. There's no point in dwelling on it and pondering over it in the
Sean's POV. As soon as Ava ran back upstairs, I figured that she was still embarrassed because of what happened last night. I sighed heavily as I left the house to go to work, so I could give her space to deal with what's going on with her. Few hours passed and my mind was still on what's wrong with Ava. Don't get me wrong, I'm not interested. I'm only worried. She has never had an actual relationship which might be reasons why she's falling for an older man. She just needs someone to put her through, but first, I need to do something for her so she can forgive me. And maybe I can even help her get with someone who is more suitable for her instead. I used my laptop to search the internet, so I could see it on a larger scale. How to please a friend? How to please your daughter?I wasn't sure on what to search for so I settled with this instead. What to do when you offend someone? "Just say sorry." I started to read them all out. "Buy them gifts.""Do something to surprise
Ava's POV. I groaned as I got up from the floor where I laid, my body was aching and I felt tired as fuck but I ignored it as what happened yesterday replayed in my head like a broken stereo. I sighed heavily as I went to do my daily routines so that I could to work this morning. I hoped that Sean had gone to work already as I went down to get breakfast but I was wrong.I guess things don't always go the way you plan after all. I sighed heavily as our eyes met and he watched me intently just as I watched him.I could have sworn he was undressing me as he watched me or maybe that's because that was what I was doing to him.Or should I say that is what I actually want to do to him right now? I knew he has already rejected my advances towards him but right now, he looked so sexy and it made me even more hornier than I always was whenever he's near by. "Come and make love to me."I found myself saying and he raised his brows in shock. "What?" He asked in shock and this time I felt m
Ava's POV. I was about to pull away when I felt him kiss me back with the same amount of vigor. His hands even went down and he held my waist firmly, putting me in place as he kissed me back with the same passion. However, everything was cut short as he pushed me away soon afterwards like he had just realized what he was doing. He looked at me in shock as he stepped away from me and my heart sank. He recoiled away from me like the way you would recoil when you see bug or worse, a rodent. "We shouldn't be doing this." He managed to say. "Why not?" I breathed out as I struggled to catch my breath from the intense kiss we had just shared. "It's wrong." He said to me and I frowned. "I shouldn't have done that." This time around, he was talking to himself. "Sean!"I called his name and he frowned deeply at me. "Ava!" He screamed my name and I shuddered in fear. I had never seen in him this angry before, not since the moment that I started to stay in this house. "You're just con
Ava's POV. "In love with who?" I tried to play dumb. "With him." Damon deadpanned. "You're just saying whatever comes to your head now, aren't you?" I scoffed at him. "You think I'm bluffing?" He scoffed back. "I would never do that, I'm not like you." He added and I hissed. "When have I ever bluffed?" I asked angrily. "Enough of this bullshit, don't try to stall time or try to change the topic." He yelled at me and I sighed. "I know your secret." He insisted. "..." I was quiet, unsure of what to say. "Is he the reason why you're refusing to be with me?" He asked me and I looked away. "Well, I can understand, for a man of his own caliber compared to me, I bet you must feel like you're losing out." He mumbled to himself. "Shut up!" I yelled, not wanting to listen anymore. "The son of the biggest company in the whole of new York city compared to me must be like comparing vegan meat to actual meat." He said and I got confused. "What?"I mumbled. "Huh?" He raised his brows a
Ava's POV. "I wanna check something." He said to me and I nodded in response. He brought his phone out from his pocket and checked it for a short while before turning to face me. "I guess the people I took pictures with earlier must have posted our photos on the internet." Sean said to me and my eyes widened in shock. "It's fine, our faces were blurred but I'm going to call my legal team to deal with it so don't worry." He said to me and I nodded in response. "Sorry about that." He said to me and I raised my brows in confusion. "About Esmeralda.""She seemed drunk, maybe that's why she acted out like that." He said to me and I smiled. It's not even his fault and hes apologizing so much. Such a gentleman. Plus, he has been saying sorry alot more these days and he actually means it. "It's fine." I said to him as I continued to smile at him."So what I wanted to talk about earlier was .." he said and took a short pause. Right, he was going to say something to me before Esmerald
Ava's POV. "Here it is, I got it out." Sean said to me with a smile and I smiled back. "Oh, thankyou." I said to him as I blushed. "Let's go to the next place, shall we?" He said. "Okay." I nodded immediately and followed after him I wondered where we were going to this time around but I didn't ask.I didn't want to ruin the fun I was having by asking a question. I just wanted to go with him.For today, I think I would go anywhere with him.The next place we were going to was an art gallery.Actually, I wasn't surprised. I kind of expected this. I guess someone as classy as Sean wouldn't go on normal food dates or picnic dates. It would be somewhere were you can also learn from. "It's beautiful." I said once we were inside. "Yeah, it sure is." He agreed with me. "What's your favorite painting?" He asked me and I thought a little before answered him. "Starry night." I answered. "By Van Gogh, why?" He asked. "It's beautiful, it feels romantic." I answered with a light chu
Ava's POV.Sean seemed very different today. And it wasn't because he told me we were going out all of a sudden. He seemed to excited and the spontaneous request to go out made me kind of curious. And I'm curious to know the reason that he'll bring me out here. Finally, we got to our destination and he went ahead to park the car while I looked around from the window. Once he switched off the engine, we both got down from the car and I used that opportunity to look around properly. I wasn't sure why we were here so I decided to ask. Maybe he has a business deal to seal here or does he want to introduce me to someone? "Is this where we're coming to?" I asked as I looked around. "Yeah." He answered as he came to stand beside me. "Beautiful, isn't it?" He said as he looked at the place lovingly. "It is.." I said awkwardly as I looked at the entrance of the aquarium. I wasn't sure why we were here but I guess it has to be for work purpose.Though I'm not sure why I should spend
Ava's POV. I groaned as the ray of the sun shone in my room, waking me up from my beautiful slumber. "Ugh, what a day!" I said despite the fact that it was still very early in the morning. I heard the sound of my phone ringing and I grumpily picked it up. "Ava!, were you ever planning to call your parents?" I heard my mother's loud voice over the phone and my eyes opened immediately. "Mom" I called her name in shock. "Don't call me that, what kind of daughter doesn't call her parents and just keeps letting them hear about her from someone else?" She snapped angrily and I could tell that she was greatly pissed off. "Not that Sean is someone else but you get my point." She mumbled to herself. "Why didn't you call me?" She snapped again. "Huh?" She said when I didn't reply."Mom, I'm sorry." I said truthfully. "I didn't mean to, I've just been quite busy." I said with a soft sigh. "Busy with what?" She asked and I sighed again. "Are you dating someone?" She suddenly asked
Ava's POV. "You're joking right?" I said to Kevin who scoffed. "Why would I be joking about this kind of thing?" He asked me. "Because you don't just spring up conversations like this one childhood friends?" I shrugged in response. "Let's go out together this weekend and I'll show you how interested in you I am." He said to me and I raised my brows in confusion. "Kevin.." I called his name softly but he didn't give me your chance to say what I had to say. "You have a few more days to think about it so do that." He said to me and I frowned. "Think about it and call me this weekend." He insisted. "I'll pick you up." "Kevin..." I called his name, trying to stop him from talking so he could listen to to me but the elevator stopped and he stepped out of it in a hurry. I watched him run out of the elevator, leaving me there, standing in utter confusion. What just happened?Did I just get asked out by the son of my first love?Oh universe, you have to be kidding me. "You sure too
