Nikita's eyelashes fluttered slightly. She suppressed the fear she felt and raised her head to look right into his eyes. The expression on her face was obstinate and defiant. "I don't want anything, Nathaniel! Get up! You and I are over!'

She could not compromise. Once she did so, he would be sure to become even more unreasonable.

Nathaniel had lost his patience. There was an icy flash in his eyes, and he pinched Nikita's chin and kissed her.

There was a sudden knock on the door, and Regina's voice rang out. "Nathaniel, I bought you coffee. Open the door to get it."

When Nikita heard Regina's voice, she felt as if her savior had come. She struggled to get up and turned her head. Now that she could finally breathe, she said quickly, "Nathaniel, aren't you afraid that Regina will misunderstand if you do this?"
