Nikita had no choice but to halt her steps and look at Nathaniel. "Is there anything else you'd like me to do, Mr. Foster?"

"Sit down," Nathaniel commanded assertively. "Why were you so eager to leave as soon as we sat down? What's the rush? Do you find us a bother?"

Nikita found Nathaniel's piercing gaze unbearable, so she lowered her eyes and denied what he said. "I didn't mean that."

Nikita was done with her meal, but she sat back down anyway. Nathaniel was accusing her of being discourteous, and she couldn't afford to be labeled as such.

As she sat down, Nathaniel gave her a cold, inscrutable glance.

Regina piped up, trying to direct Nathaniel's attention back to herself. "Nathaniel, I didn't even notice we have shrimp. It looks so delicious!"

"Do you want some?" Nathaniel turned to her, his tone suddenly much gentler.

Regina bit her fork and said innocently, "Yes, I want some!"
