Crista stood up, her gaze not leaving the middle-aged man before her. She was stunned into speechlessness.
"You're Crista, aren't you?" Adrian was excited, surprised, and disbelieving at the same time.
"Yes, I am." Crista hadn't expected to meet Adrian on the next day after she returned. "Hello, Mr. Yu," she said politely.
Adrian hadn't expected to see her again. It had been more than two years, and he had thought that something bad had happened to Crista. "So you are still alive," he said, his voice joyful.
Crista nodded. She had only met Adrian a few times and they weren't that familiar with each other. But the way Adrian looked at her confused her to no end.
"Are you free now? Can I buy you a cup of tea?" he asked, looking at her with hopeful eyes.
Crista looked at her watch before nodding and saying, "Okay." She couldn't refuse his polite invitation. To her, so far at least, Adrian was a good man.
They got into the car and
Crista and Lewis looked around at the surroundings as they finally arrived in front of the gate of the Jin family's villa. The door lock was already rusty and the beautiful garden had been surrounded by a lot of weeds, looking desolate. "We can go inside if you like. Do you want to come?" Lewis looked at her and asked. "No. I can't get in." She shook her head lightly and sighed. He held her hand and said, "Since you are here, why don't we come inside and have a look? Besides, no one is here except us." Crista was about to react when she saw that Lewis already opened the rusty iron lock on the gate. "Lewis..." The man turned to her with a smile on his face. "Let's go! Why? Don't tell me you don't want to come in and see what's inside?" Lewis noticed the uncertainty in her eyes as she looked a little paler. So he added, "You don't have to be afraid. I'm just here with you. Okay?" While holding their hands together, Crista started to walk slowly
Lewis stirred his coffee as he looked at Sally. "If you want to live in peace, you need to overwhelm Tristan with love. Do you understand?" Loving someone constituted more than just being nice to each other. It involved sacrifices and commitments that would last a lifetime. "Lewis, do you still think about Crista? Are you still in love with her?" She knew that Lewis had fallen in love with Crista two years ago. When Crista had disappeared, he had also mysteriously disappeared. He only reappeared recently. Lewis nodded, "Yes! Very much so!" His tone betrayed helplessness. He would never stop loving her. "Lewis, have you been searching for her over the past two years?" She couldn't comprehend how he could possibly love someone who always gave him a cold shoulder. "Let's change the topic. When you are free, let's invite Tristan to join us for dinner," Lewis said, sipping his coffee "Okay, I'll get back to you on that," Sally said with a smile. "I
Carla had no choice but to leave the study. She stood for a moment outside, leaning against the wall, taking deep breaths to center herself. William's increasingly indifferent attitude towards her was making her more uneasy with each passing day. William never asked about the work that she was responsible for, but tonight he had offered to meet Willona. If this happened, he would find out that Willona was Crista, who he had waited and looked for two years. And if William saw Crista, there would be no place for Carla in his life. Only if Carla became pregnant with William's child would she have the chance to be with him. William leaned back against the leather seat. Carla had acted strange tonight, which caused him to wonder if something had happened. She had always allowed him to dominate her, and had never raised an objection, no matter what he did. But ever since she had returned from Italy, her behavior had changed. He trusted her, which was why he didn't
The second Crista went downstairs, her phone started ringing in her bag. She looked at the caller ID and wondered that something urgent must've happened for Adrian to call her at this hour.“Uncle Adrian." She was standing in front of the office building when she answered the phone.“Chica, you haven't gone to bed yet, have you? I want to have a late snack with you." Adrian hadn't contacted Crista because he wasn't feeling well a few days ago. The reason he asked her out this time was because he was feeling better.Naturally, she didn't refuse. "Sure. I just got off work. ‘Where are you? I'll hail a cab to get to you.""I'll ask my driver to pick you up." Adrian told the river, Rob, to pick Crista up after he got the address. After stepping into the car, Crista said, "Uncle Adrian, you're not in good health right now. You should've just gone to sleep early.”“Crista, the older I become, the harder it is to fall
Adrian heaved a sigh and looked at her. Then after a while, he said, "What are you talking about? I'm already old so why would I still think about women? If our children heard such inappropriate words from us, they would laugh at us.""Are you saying that what I am talking about is nonsense? Haven't you noticed that you're not being in your normal self these days? You do know that your health is not good yet you still choose to stay inside your study until midnight almost every day. If you're not thinking about women, then who's running in your mind? Don't tell me that you're still thinking about that bitch? She already died more than twenty years ago. In a car accident remember?" While she was talking, Maris looked straight at Adrian's eyes. Back then, she just couldn't stand that her husband was with another woman. So what if that woman was her husband's first love?It was not that hard for Miley to kill a woman. So even the woman was with a baby in her belly, she st
The moment William returned to his villa, he saw that Carla was sleeping on the sofa, Was she waiting for him to come home? He walked towards the sofa. "Carla," he called out softly. "William, you're home." Carla opened her eyes and saw him standing in front of her. “Why are you sleeping here? If you're sleepy, go upstairs and sleep on a bed. In the future, I'll be a lot busier, and I'm not sure when I'll be able to get home,” he said. Shaking her head, Carla replied, "It's fine. Are you hungry? Let me prepare some food for you." “No, I'm not hungry." William sat on the sofa. " Carla, who is this Willona of El Art Fashion Design Company?" Carla was currently pouring a glass of water when her hand froze because of what he said. "William, why are you suddenly asking about her?" “Am I not allowed to ask this question? I should've personally met this designer, but I haven't had much spare time on my hands lately.” William turned his gaze towards Carla. He knew th
After Adrian left, Crista sat alone in her room. What he said reminded her of the scar in her heart. She no longer held any hope that she'd ever find her parents again. However, she used to have a child herself. Even though her child was never born, she still loved her baby with every fiber of her being. And now, she really wanted to go to the Ding family villa’s backyard. Crista walked out of the apartment to stroll along the street. The street was noisy today. She entered and then walked out of one store after another with no intention to purchase anything, All of a sudden, a woman who was carrying several shopping bags bumped into her. "What the hell? Are you blind or something?” The shrill voice startled Crista, but it sounded familiar to her. “Sally, are you okay?" Tristan held Sally up by pulling her arm, Since she said that she wanted to go shopping tonight, he accompanied her. By this point, Crista wished that she hadn't gone out on her own. S
Carla was stunned for a bit. He had never asked about Willona's designs. This was the first time he had taken the initiative to ask about Willona after such a long time, 'No, he asked after he called Willona last time, so this is the second time.’ “What's up? If she doesn't hand in the designs, it'll be too late.” William's tone was relatively calm, as if it was just a gentle reminder. Hesitating for a few seconds, Carla said, " I've already notify her about it just today." “Well, you can set the deadline yourself anyway." William shifted his focus back to the pile of documents on his desk. Afterwards, Carla left his office and went back to her own. She just had an altercation with Crista, and now he was asking her to talk to that woman again. It was only natural that she'd feel uncomfortable about it. “Damn it, Crista. You shouldn't have returned! You shouldn't have survived in the first place!” Carla shouted as she sat at her desk. Crista wa
You Are Not The Baby's Father Lewis sighed as he made Crista sit down on the sofa. "Will you feel bored staying at home?" Looking at him, Crista hesitated for a while before she shook her head. "Aren't you afraid that I might run away?" "Yes, I am." Lewis looked at her. He was obviously anxious. The only thing that scared him was Crista leaving him. "Then I won’t go out. I am afraid that I won't be able to control myself." Even though Crista knew that William had died, she still wanted to see him. She loved him so much, but she could not even see him one last time. "He is dead. Why are you so stubborn? Even if you did go back, what can you do now?” Lewis wondered why she was being so stubborn about returning to William. Did it mean that he would never get her love even though William had died? Would she never show him any mercy at all? "Then why do you have to do that? You can just leave me alone." Crista didn't want him to interfere her affair! He had lied to her many times n
There Was Still No News About Her Lewis walked over to Crista and saw her in a daze. "What's wrong, Chica? Do you feel sick?" Her face had turned paler, which worried him. Looking at him, Crista remained silent. She didn't stop him when he put his coat on her shoulder and helped her sit on the bed. "If you don't feel good, then you'd better take rest. Don't you remember that the doctor asked you to rest in bed for the first three months?" Lewis felt like he was talking to himself. Was she even listening to him? Crista reached out and touched her belly. Only when she felt the child in her belly would she feel relieved. Leaning against the bed, Crista took a glance at the newspaper that was on the bedside table. She had not thrown it away yet. Perhaps she was using it to remind herself that she should not forget William. Lewis sat next to her and talked to her, but Crista ignored him and fell asleep. A bitter smile appeared on Lewis' lips. He could talk for hours, but she would sti
Will You Be With Me Then, Lewis made Crista sit up and lean against a cushion. "Have some congee first, Chica. You haven't eaten properly for a few days. Or do you want to eat something else? I can ask Sara to make it for you." Crista had no appetite for the food in front of her, but still, she slowly ate as Lewis fed her until the congee was finished. "Chica, you need to take good care of yourself. You need to start eating well because your baby needs the nutrition." Lewis wiped her mouth with a tissue. "My baby," Crista murmured. "I still have a baby." "Yes, Chica. You still have your baby. That’s why you have to take good care of yourself so you won’t hurt your child." Lewis looked at her. Perhaps the thought of her child could snap her out of her lethargy and give her a reason to move on. "My baby, what are we going to do? It’s all my fault that you will never see your daddy. It’s all Mommy's fault, "Crist
He Died To Save Her Crista shook her head. "No way! I want William. He is the father of my child, and he has a right to know about it." Why should she be with Lewis? It was obvious that she resented him. 'What does he mean? And why did he say that he can be with me now that William is not around anymore? William told me that he will be there for me, and that I should wait for him!' Crista remembered it so clearly that it was simply impossible for her to forget his promise to her. "It is true that he has a right to know about your child, but it is too late for that now," Lewis said, looking at her, but in his heart, he was afraid that she might become hysterical and fall unconscious. "What do you mean by too late? What is that supposed to mean, Lewis? What happened to William? I want to see him... No, I need to see him right now!" After saying that, Crista rushed to the middle of the road, and stopped a car th
Let Me Love You In the end, Lewis chose to take Crista away. He went back to the ward, and looked at her. The doctor who followed him in gave her an injection. "Mr. Lui, if you still insist on taking Miss Jin away, then I'll have to finish the paperwork for you so that you will be able to go through the discharge formalities,” the doctor said to Lewis. Money had the power to do anything, so Lewis bribed the doctor to give some tranquilizer for Crista, so that he could take her away from there while she was still asleep. Gian soon arrived at the hospital. "Mr. Lui, everything is done." Lewis nodded and handed him a prescription. "Go through the discharge formalities for Crista first, and once you're done with that, you can go to the pharmacy and get her medicines. I will be taking her downstairs now." After Gia left the ward, Lewis changed Crista's clothes, put his coat on her, picked her up in his arms, and left the h
Escape In The Middle Of The Night If she had shielded William from the bullet, he would have been fine. Crista had done that three years ago, and she survived, so there was a high chance she would be all right again. It was a gamble, yes, but she was willing to take that risk. He should not have pushed her away. She did not need his protection! She now understood William's obsession with keeping her safe. But it was way too late, and she was tethering on the brink of losing her mind. Lewis looked at her, his brows furrowed in jealousy. "You will sacrifice your life for him? If I was the one on the receiving end of that bullet, would you do the same for me?" Crista kept mum, curling up into a ball, her mind tormented. She did not know if she would feel the same for Lewis. All she cared about was how she did not want to see William harmed. Maybe she would save Lewis, or maybe not. The thing was, she had not cont
Want To See Him Lewis held her in his arms as he still could not let her go- Crista had lost a lot of blood and had no strength left in her to struggle. She could only watch as Martin and his men helped William up. "Let go of me, Lewis! I want to be with him. I want to be with him!" Crista was scared. No one could tell what would happen to William as he had gotten shot in his chest. However, she hoped that he would be fine, and wanted to be by his side. William tried his best to stand up and said, "Chica, wait for me!" No matter how strong he was, he still could not help but faint. Martin shouted his name a few times before he looked at Crista and carried William out of there. He didn't take Crista with him because he could not afford to waste time now. If they continued to deal with Lewis, then William was going to die. Holding Crista in his arms, Lewis walked step by step towards Anpu, who was lying
It's Either Your Life Or Crista's When he heard Lewis mention Crista, William's expression darkened. "You kidnapped Chica, didn't you? What did you do to her?" "What I did to her? What do you think I did to her? I can do the same things that you did to her, right? Don't forget that I am a man, too, just like you!" Lewis said with a smug smile. 'What do I want to do to Crista?' Of course, Lewis wanted her, but she did not want him. She would not even let him touch her. She had struggled and resisted him for a long time now. But for William, she became pregnant. She was doing everything for William, but not for Lewis. She didn't care how deep his love was. She would rather hurt him than compromise. "As long as you promise to let Chica go, I'll do whatever you ask me to do," William said. He had made up his mind to do anything and to give up anything for the sake of her safety. "Are you sure that you are willing to do an
What On Earth Did He Want To Do With Her Lewis bent over and planted a kiss on Crista's lips. He had never kissed her long enough or often enough to his liking. It must be his lucky day! He cupped his hand behind her head, holding it steady as he explored her mouth deeper. Crista writhed to get away, very much on the defensive. The more she floundered wildly, the more the ropes scraped away under her skin. There was no chance to avoid his kiss! Desperately, Crista bit down on his lips until her mouth filled with the metallic tang of blood. She bit and kicked, trying to shake off the strong hand that held her fast, but Lewis persisted, tasting her until she almost suffocated beneath him. "Do you want William to know we kissed?" Lewis smirked as he wiped the blood off his lip. He lifted a hand and signaled to Anpu’s men to leave them alone. "What on earth do you want to do with me?” Crista heaved and panted, the struggl
