Scarlett POV
I was unhinged, watching my very own husband have sex with another woman on our matrimonial bed. The lady was unashamed as she enjoyed every bit of his stroke, moaning as her eyes rolled heavenward.
Michael didn't stop, and I allowed it because I was used to it. This wasn't his first nor his second, and he knows too well that it won't be the last.
"Look at me when I fuck you!" Michael ordered the lady, whom I supposed should be downstairs like the others, to work her ass off for a good paycheck, but here she was doing the same thing as with my husband.
"Oh God, Mr. Michael... Fuck, I am cumming..." The girl screamed out in pleasure. I was a bit bothered, hoping no one might hear her, but because of the busyness downstairs, I am sure they didn't.
Michael arched his back as he came all over her bare body and stepped away from her. "I shall go take my shower and be down soon," Michael said to me as I said, "Mhm.", He walked naked into the bathroom right beside where I stood.
The lady who was still recovering from all that heat caught my eye and quickly jerked away from the bed. She scrambled for her things and tried to leave.
"Where do you think you are going?" I asked her, using my left hand, to push her back. "Get dressed; I don't want my guests to see you stark naked."
"Alright ma," The lady shivered as she quickly put on her maid outfit.
"You work for me, don't you?" I queried.
The lady slightly gave a nod; it was clear she was nervous around me. "I do, ma'am."
"And now you don't," I stated, adding, "After tonight, I do not want to see you anywhere near my house, close to my husband, or around the proximity of children's schools or wherever they might be. If ever you are pregnant, you must abort the baby, and on no account must I hear that you speak to the media about this; if not, I shall have every member of your family murdered."
"Ye-yes, ma," the lady stammered, trying her best to directly look at me.
"What is your name?" I requested from her nicely this time, getting rid of my attitude, which I put on to scare and threaten her.
"Virginia, ma'am," she answered.
Her name rang a bell; it sounded like I had heard her name a couple of times. I know she does work for me, but I am not used to knowing the names of every one of my workers.
"Ah, you must be the orphan," I finally remembered. She is the same girl my daughter says she adores.
"Yes, I am," Virginia confirmed.
“That means you have no one to turn to nor will anyone go looking for your body when it is supposedly disposed, you are ALONE,” I said to her and the poor girl naively nodded her head.
I touched her hair and smiled. "Dear, expect to receive some lump sum tonight and never show your face here again. I shall not repeat myself; I will have someone prepare a plane ticket for you, so have your things ready to start a new life elsewhere."
"Yes, ma," Virginia said.
I step aside from the door and signal her to take her leave.
Just then the shower was turned off, and I knew Michael was done. I stepped out of the room wearing a big smile on my face as I went to the dining area.
Everyone was well seated, and they all seemed clueless about what was going on. "Where is Michael?" Brianna asked instantly.
"He will soon join us," I said. "Please let's have our meal; Michael will join us soon," I said to the others who were waiting for me to say something to them.
"Is it just me or does it seem like you are getting old Scarlett,” Melissa commented right when we were about to have our meal catching everyone’s attention, “Take care of your skin, okay”
“I will,” I answered forcing out my best smile, I hated that I had no clapback to her even though I had a lot of horrible things about Mel in my inventory.
Brianna had seen me fold and thought to intrude, “Melissa, how exactly is William? Is he still struggling to keep his grades up? I hear he could barely make it to the top ten position in the mock exam,”
“Mhm… not the one with a broken marriage talking,” Melissa turned her eyes away as she mocked Brianna.
I saw Brianna about to go physical and knew I needed to involve myself, “That’s enough, today is for Leo and I don’t want anyone here ruining it, and Melissa, I wouldn’t mind you sharing me some tips on how to keep my skin up,”
Just then, Michael suddenly arrives. He leaned into me and kissed my cheeks. It was all for eye service, but I do love how others admire our perfect relationship; even our love story was one for the books, which most people find easy to reach.
But I guess not all books with romance have a good ending.
There was a time in my life when I dreamt of being forever with Michael, but now I see him, and all I can feel is emptiness. Where did all the love we invested go? And for how long am I going to bear it?
I won’t lie, I still love him as the father of my kids but I am hanging on to this marriage not for them but for the fact that people will talk if ever they hear that I got divorced and I know people who will be pleased by this.
“My son!” Michael hugged Leo from behind, “The pride of my household, the one bond keeping our family together,”
“Nonsense! You and Scarlett don’t need Leo to be together, you are just perfect together,” Brianna chimed in.
Can she just shut up?
I get it that Brianna is a good friend but she can’t keep wishing for a life she has no clue of, again not all that glitters are fucking gold!
I wish I could say this to her, but...
“That’s right, Scarlett is everything to me,” Michael said as he clapped his hands twice, others wanted to join for a clap but immediately a band and some maids carrying a bouquet of roses walked in.
I was confused as to what was going on even though I should have been used to this by now, “Michael,” I smiled as the band played my favorite song, ‘Best Part’ by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R
When the song ended, Michael took one of the bouquets and handed it over to me, “Thank you for birthing our amazing children,” he bent to kiss me with the same lips he used to kiss that maid, I tried my best to accept it, it was all for a show I guess, I should play my role right.
“Oh, this is so cute,” Brianna said in her squeaky voice making all these seem as tiring as it should.
I managed to release myself from that and saw Melissa scrunch her nose up in disgust. At least I got something good out of that.
Till the night was over, Michael was all over me; he was selling our marriage way too much. After all, it is what I want, and I will go down to the ends of the earth to ensure that happens.
After the hectic night was all over and we all retired to bed, I had slept for a couple of hours, constantly turning around the bed. You could tell I was uncomfortable.Maybe it was because I couldn’t help that this was the same bed I had seen Michael with that woman or maybe I just had issues sleeping… It was the first reason.“Michael wake up,” I nudged him with my left arm as I sat up on the bed, he didn’t budge as he continued snoring, “Michael,” I called again with a hush tone, this time he responded but quickly went back to sleep, “Michael!” I called again with my voice rising.“What is it?!” He yelled, “Can’t you see that it is late in the night and I have got work tomorrow,”“We need to talk,” I ignored his complaint as I went straight to the point.“What is it that you just can’t wait till the morning? What is it?!” Michael groaned as he turned to the other side of the bed.I let out a sigh still not willing to back off, he must hear from me, “Michael, we are married, why do
“Where is he?” I inquired, looking around for any strange face that I might find.“Are you really that impatient?” Michael teased me, “He was here a couple of minutes ago but I told Jacob to show him around the place, Oh look, here he comes,” Michael said pointing at the door, I followed his hands leading there. The man had a confident gait and brightly colored hair that I assumed was once red but was now more on the pink side, with his undergrowth being more visible. His eyes, which were a striking blue with an enigmatic glint, his jawline, and his cheekbones were perfectly chiseled to fit his face.“Good morning, Mrs. Thatcher,” The man greeted me with a baritone voice offering his hand for me to shake, I stared him down at the disrespect, who does he think he is to touch me?“Good morning,” I answered sternly, I had mixed feelings about him, maybe because he dressed up in an unconventional way which pissed me off, for someone who managed, emphasis on manage because it is very rare
My ears were screaming for help with the way Brianna wouldn’t stop talking but still, I did pay attention to her when we arrived at Louisa’s Mansion where we as wives of this estate were all to gather, I could feel the freedom in stepping out of the Car with having to listen to something else different from Brianna’s voice. We were almost a foot into the door of Louisa’s house when Brianna said in a hushed tone, “I forgot to say but driver… whoosh… he is very hot,”I looked behind me to see Seth about to open his side of the car door to sit and wait for me. I stared at him for a brief second, unable to see what Brianna was talking about. I brushed it off and walked.“If he is single, well I don’t mind…”“My goodness Brianna, that boy or man is at least 23 years old, he should be doing something meaningful with his life, I wonder why he chose to work as a driver,” I said, I couldn’t believe Brianna was having such wild thoughts to the point it irked me in my tummy.“I am only kidding.
I didn’t know whether to ignore it or just go on to open the text message, nevertheless, I took the step and did open it. It was a video recording.I told myself that this might just be another of Michael’s sex tapes, it was obvious that it just had to be it. The moaning sound that began from this fifteen-minute-long video as I pressed play was enough to turn it off but I didn’t, I watched it to ensure that Michael’s face was shown, and believe me when I say that his face was clear as day, I couldn’t even recognize the woman as it was blurred out.I didn’t know what to do, this was too much for me to handle, how much was I going to keep hanging on like this, I don’t deserve this from him. I couldn’t it for long as I immediately texted back, “Name your price,”My heart raced because this was the first time this had gotten to me, I hate that I have to sort this thing out for Michael but what more can I do? I can’t have my family fall apart or I will be gossiped like the others are.“Nam
My mind raced as I held my phone in my hand, the screen was slightly broken but it still functioned properly, I was waiting for the stranger’s next message so I could calculate my next move but I got nothing.I watch till sunset and still nothing. When it was fully evening, there was a bit of discomfort I began to feel, and I only knew a walk around the outside of my precious household would help greatly. Basking in that cool breeze and feeling its romance with my skin was just what I looked forward to.“Are my kids asleep?” I asked one of the maids that were working.“They are, ma’am. Leo is currently studying but Carmela is asleep,” The lady answered before she left.Knowing that well, I went ahead to enjoy the outside, sniffing into the air, I wasn’t expecting to have a cigar stench sting my nose like that. Someone had the audacity to smoke in my garage.I traced the smell and you just couldn’t believe who it was.“Why are you smoking around my house?” I questioned Seth from behind
I couldn’t sleep, having restless has been a thing of mine since I found out my husband was no longer faithful to me, it is crazy, I know but there is nothing I can do about it. I cried my eyes out hoping when my eyes gets tired they would sleep off and it work. The following morning, I slept at the corner of my bed awake, but my mind, body, and soul were simply elsewhere.“What are you thinking of?” Michael as he stepped out of the shower“Nothing,” I answered sitting up from my bed, “I will go check on the kids,”“Are you sure there is nothing wrong?” Michael asked as he dried his damp hair with the towel he was with.My rage was rising by the mere sight of him but I still choose not react even as I tried to head for the door, “Scarlett…”“What! I already said there is nothing wrong Michael, what else are you expecting me to say huh? Are you expecting that I tell you that each I cage myself in this marriage I am suffocated by your constant mistreatment, everyday I wake up there is a
Seth exhaled. He looked in Brianna's direction and back to me, his face bent sideways. He was clearly annoyed, but who cares? Whatever I want, I get.“I need you back here before…” I checked the time on my phone, “Two, my friend will need a ride home,”“I am not going,” Seth replied defiantly with angst in his eyes.“What do you mean by you won’t be going? You work for me and anything that I send you, you must do,” I said making sure that each word sunk in.Seth closed his eyes as if infuriated by me, he breathed out, “Ma’am, this is not in line with my job, you can… you can send anybody working for you but I will not be doing it,”“Seth, I am sure you are aware that you are walking on thin ice, if I tell my husband about your attitude…”“I thought you said that you would, why haven’t you? My problem here is that this is my lunch break and I need to rest, if you had asked politely like I said yesterday, maybe I would have done it but here we go again,” Seth said and then walked away.
“What is it about?” Michael said as he loosened his tie and fling it on the bed before proceeding to take off his shoes.“It is about the Levines,” I replied, setting the mood for discussion as I picked up the displaced tie and shoes he scattered all over the place, “Apparently, they will be returning back to the estate, I think this is our chance to finally get closer with them,”Michael paused as he was about unbuttoning his shirt, “Why?”I can’t believe is this slow, “For obvious reason baby, you want to run for Mayor and they have the influence, your father and my father’s backing you up for this position might not be enough to get us there,” I explained, “Listen, with the strong backing of the Levines, we can easily win the poll without any stress,”“And where did you get this information that they will be coming? Brianna?” Michael guessed, his expression
The minute I stepped foot into that place Michael called home for me and my children, it was the moment I lost all contact with Seth and the world. I never go anywhere without security following me around, monitoring my every movement and the things that I do, and making sure that they work according to my given schedule.Michael has gone insane.“Michael I am tired of all these.” I threw off my shoes and flung them out the window, and wherever they landed, I absolutely had no care for them. “I am tired!”“Then leave!” Michael screamed at my face as he slammed our room door, locking it shut. “I know you want his touch; you are doing all of these because you miss him, don’t you?”“For six months I haven’t seen him; I have adhered to every one of your demands and kept away from him; all I want is for you to sign the divorce papers and free me,” I say, moving away from him."Clearly, you don’t know that I won’t know such things, so act right and come down right now!” Michael yelled, and
“Carmela, hurry up; you are going to be late for school,” I screamed from the kitchen where I was packing up her lunch. When I didn’t hear anything from her, I went to knock on her door. The door pushed open as I held it. “Carmela.”“Mum, come take a look,” Carmela pointed at the two vehicles with security detail waiting in front of Seth’s apartment.“Ignore them,” I said to her before closing off the curtain. “Seth said he will drop you off at school before we head to the hospital to pick up your brother. Leo is finally returning home.”“Yay,” Carmela feigned excitement. “I am sure he is going to gain all of your attention now.” My forehead creased as I looked directly at her. I saw a small smile on her face. “I am kidding, mom. It is so easy to get to you. Make sure you give him all of the love for me.”“I think you should skip school today and come see him.”“And ruin my perfect record? No, I told you I would do better in school than Leo ever was,” Carmela said as she picked up her
“Why didn’t you tell me that Leo was alive? What was the need for keeping it away from me and from us?” Michael asked. Carmela had stared with the bitterness she had felt looking at her father this morning.“I did it so Brianna would confess,” I answered.“For fuck sake, Scarlett, if she had gotten arrested, she would have confessed either way; she killed our son, I mean almost,” Michael said as he moved back and forth.“And that is almost the reason he is alive today, Michael. I know Brianna was in her head yesterday, but she is not a bad person and still is my friend,” I acknowledged. “Everything she has done was to provide for her family; there is nothing wrong with that.”“By blackmailing you? Honey, have you gone mad? How can you call someone who has done all these things a friend? I pray she rots in jail for the sins she has caused you.” Michael pulled me and hugged me. I sniffed his shirt, and there was an unfamiliar scent—feminine, I would say.I already knew he had sex when h
A few talks with the officer were all I needed to get a name that I already knew. I couldn’t believe that the person I trusted so much about would have done this to me. I don’t deserve this. I may be a bad person, but I don’t deserve this at all.We drove over to my son’s murderer’s house as I begged for the police to let me speak to her personally; she is my friend after all.“She won’t harm me; Brianna already told me she would be waiting to speak to me,” I said, trying to convince the officer to wait.I knocked on the door of Brianna’s home, and it opened slightly, given that she hadn’t locked the door as she said she wouldn’t.“You came,” Brianna sat in the darkness of her home. I saw different weapons like a gun, a knife, and a couple of pills on the table. She said, “Don’t worry, they aren’t for you.”“I know,” I said. “You won’t harm me, Brianna.”“I hate you.” She said so simply as she whimpered silently, “You are so lucky; you have a good life, family, money , everything. I a
A heavy downpour of rain washed over Leo’s grave, and while everyone sought shelter from it, I stood there wondering how lonely it would be over there—no one to talk to, no food to eat—at least you wouldn’t have to study any more.My lips thinned as I exhaled deeply. There is no mother to tell you what you can and cannnot, how to live your life, or who you should be with.I kneeled down as I allowed the dirt to stain all over me, losing my mind at the thought that Leo was actually gone, like I would never get to see him again."Leo, I am sorry.” I cried out as all my pain weakened me. A snort came out of my nose as I continued to cry. It will take the intervention of everyone to leave my son’s at this point.I didn’t give him what he wanted and always found a way to make his life about Michael. I used him as a pawn to achieve Michael’s success, and I only started to feel sorry for it when he outgrew me.I never got to amend my relationship with my son; I never got to do that, and now
Seth was shocked as to where I had gotten such courage from. I mean, I was drunk in his scent and clearly wasn’t thinking properly, but his saying I should go ahead was where I understood he wanted it too."Seth, look at where we are. Do you think God will want to see that from two fornicators?” I asked, and Seth burst out laughing.“Fornicators? So that is who we are now. I have never felt sin be this good before. You think maybe he will forgive us so easily?” Seth asked as he looked around the chapel.“No, God doesn’t work that way, dear; you have to be remorseful and actually pay the price for the sin before he forgives, I think, but though he is merciful, his forgiveness doesn’t come cheap,” I said, smiling. “I also don’t think we should be this close.” I tried to push him further away while pulling him back at the same time.“Since we are fornicators?" Seth laughed, and the room fell into silence as he gazed at me ever so lovingly. “I know this is wrong, but I miss you,” he said
I visited the hospital frequently as if it were my home; I had to because Leo was yet to wake up and none of us knew exactly how he wound up at shore for that good man who was fishing to find him.Weeks after weeks, and though the doctors said he was responding to treatment and would probably wake up, there was still no sign of that happening, and now I am starting to become worried. For the first week, Leo’s health had been unstable. We received a lot of visitors at the hospital, but as the days pushed into weeks and then a whole month, everyone who we thought cared had soon forgotten and gone back to their own business.I hardly saw any of my friends around either; they were mostly focused on Laura for now, except for Melissa, and that is solely because she is Leo’s godmother; of course she has to be here along with her son.Even Rocky, whom I thought would be here every day, was also occupied, and I understand he has school and his mother to worry about, so maybe he can be excused
Silence, a void only one could hear and feel for themselves.“Scarlett, Sarlett, Scarlett.” They all called my name from different areas, but their voices never got to me.Could this be true? Could it be?My son is gone, and I am supposed to feel okay about it.I failed as a mother; I failed as his friend; and I failed as his world. When Leo needed me the most, I was never there for him. I don’t deserve happiness at all.My eyes closed as I allowed darkness to seep into me.*** **** ********* ********** ******* ****** ******* ****** ******* My eyes finally opened to see all of my loved ones gathered around my bed, with the beeping sound disturbing my hearing. I looked around, not saying anything. Where would I find the words?“Mum has woken up,” Carmela’s voice said out loud as everyone who was around the doctor soon came to me.“Darling,” Michael touched my face as he kissed my forehead. At first, I wondered why he was getting so affectionate until I saw who came as well.
~SCARLETT POV~Ambulance sirens blared as lots of body bags were being brought out and taken into the morgue one after the other, my hands shivering. I had already cried in the car. I can't help it now that I have seen Carmela in tears. She would need me to be strong for her, and I can’t help being weak in front of her.“Mum, why do horrible things always happen to us?” Carmela asked as she embraced me, her tears trickling down from her eyes to my shoulder as I stroked her back. “All will be fine, dear; we just have to identify the bodies; we have to hope your brother isn’t a part of it.”I was breaking down so badly; I was so occupied with myself that I never paid attention. God, I only ask for one thing, and that is for my son not to be a part of the dead bodies that drowned at sea.It was hard to pray because it was confirmed that Leo and Rocky were indeed on the guest list for the cruise and that they did attend.“Mrs. Thatcher,” The officer called as I turned, my heart beating ex
