Gavriel's POV
Camille looked away, her pretty face sad and marred with tear streaks. It was barely twelve and the entire day had been a fucking roller coaster.
She had been asleep when I woke up around four am. I had worked on a few documents that I was supposed to handle yesterday, but since we had gone shopping and all, I hadn't been able to work on them.
By seven, I hit the gym in my home, trying to take my mind off the thousand and one things that plagued my thoughts. After an hour in the gym and another hour making breakfast, I walked back into the room to wake Camille up and she was gone.
At first, I had assumed that she couldn't wait to get home and apologize to her father. But when another hour passed and I hadn't heard from her, I called.
She ignored my calls. All of them. That was unlike Camille. I had suspected something
Camille's POVHe lied to me.I had my eyes fixed on the screen, watching him glance around, trying to figure out where I was watching from."I asked you, just outside now, and you told me you were at the gym, Gav," My voice trembled.Hell every single part of me trembled. He had told me squarely, looked me right in the eyes, and lied to me.Why couldn't he tell me he was with Victoria? That was if he was with Victoria at all."Camille, I can explain-""Explain? That what? You didn't mean to lie to me?" I asked, my voice rising slightly.Gav jumped on his feet and walked to the screen. If the glass wasn't between us, I would be staring right in his face. His beautiful, lying face.
Gavriel's POVWhen I stepped out of the interrogation room, Camille was gone. I felt angry. But I wasn't exactly sure who I was angry at.The officer Ted or Ned or whatever shitty name he had. That man irritated the crap out of me. He was disappointed when Victoria came with that footage.Ah, yes, Victoria. She had thrust me in a damned situation. It sucked that I had to use her help to get out of being suspected of murder. She had caused the rift between me and Camille. But then, if I hadn't lied, Camille would still trust me.I had messed up. I was angry at everyone, but most of all, I was mad at myself.I panicked, dammit. I hadn't thought that it would be relevant, and I wanted to keep it a secret from Camille until she healed a little from her father's death. She must be
Camille's POVI had no idea how long I stood before Megan, replaying her words over and over in my head."Why?" I managed to croak. She shrugged, avoiding my gaze. "There's something I have to attend to at home."I nodded. It was fine. She probably wanted to check on her parents and see how they were doing or something.I couldn't remember the last time Megan had traveled down to see them. She was always there. Always around."When will you be back?" I asked, turning around so I could pack my few things for the trip.Megan remained quiet, and I glanced over my shoulder to see her staring at her shoes. That nagging feeling was back.Something was not right."Megan?" I called, facing he
Gavriel’s POVI picked up a dart, turning it between my fingers while my public relations officer ranted my ears off. My home had never felt so bleak and empty. Everywhere was quiet. A little too quiet. I was alone with my thoughts, and it sucked.“...Sir?!”I sighed, tossing the dart against the board on the wall. “What the hell do you want me to do?”“Sir, there is a video of James Caldwell’s daughter calling you a murderer in public. The company’s reputation, your reputation is at stake.”With a groan, I reached for another dart and hurled it at the board. It hit the center, quivering from the force. I had bigger things to worry about. I had Camille to worry about, dammit. I could still recall the anger in her eyes. My kitten was mad at me.And it wasn’t a pretty feeling.&n
Camille's POV"Jessica! Jessica!” The crowd of masked men chanted as I danced and stripped on stage. Loud music filled the entire club, and I grinned, trying not to get lost in the song. It looked like today's payment would be worthwhile. We had a large crowd, after all. Adjusting my mask to keep it from slipping, I swayed my hips towards the pole on stage, dressed in black lace g-string and bra, and began grinding against it.“Show us those titties!” “Take it off!” The men yelled, and I tossed them a grin. Just when I reached for the strap that held my bra up, my eyes connected with a pair of eyes. He sat away from the men surrounding my stage. He had a black mask on and a white shirt that bunched against his muscles tautly. I could see every outline of those forearms as he raised a glass of whiskey towards his lips and my breathing stuttered. For a second, I wondered how they would feel if I kissed him. How could lips look so inviting? I could imagine them on mine, claiming,
Camille's POV“Thanks for driving me home, Megan,” I muttered, staring at the huge Caldwell mansion before me. “It's nothing,” Megan replied, giving me a soft smile. Her green eyes glistened with unshed tears, and I sighed. “Megan, for the last time, I'm okay,”“You got grabbed at!” she cried, throwing her arms around me. She had picked me up from the club. I had given her the short version of what had happened. A man grabbed me, and someone saved me. The longer version would have included me bent over, begging my ‘saviour’ to fuck the daylights out of me. I couldn't tell her that! “I am fine,” I told her, patting her back. “I have to go. The lights are off, thankfully.” Megan pulled away then, swiping her auburn hair out of her face. “Shouldn't you tell your father you need money? You're Camille Caldwell!”“I am also a grounded 22 year old,” I said, pursing my lips. “I'll figure this out Megs, drive home safe, okay?” One last hug and I stepped out of the car and slipped thr
Camille's POV“Your client is right behind this door,” Toria, the club manager, said, gesturing at the doors to one of the private suites the club owned. “Don't screw this up, Jessica. He paid mad money to see you.” Well, wasn't that just great? I needed money if I wanted to keep Jordan off my neck. Adjusting my new mask, I took a deep breath and knocked on the door before turning it open. The suite had a living room area and a bedroom farther inside. I walked in, locked the door behind me, and dropped the trench coat and bag on the sofa. “Hello?!” Where was the client? And damn he was one rich client. Only the extremely rich ones could afford renting a whole suite just so they could watch a stripper. What if he wants more than ‘watching’? A voice in my head asked, and before I could think up an answer, a familiar voice spoke. “Hello, my pet,” Holy hell! I whipped around to see him leaning against the wall. He had a mask on but was shirtless. Whatever abs I had seen in m
Camille's POV"What do you mean I can not see him?"The receptionist glared at me, eyeing my dress as if it were garbage. The jealousy on her face was too obvious. I knew I had gone over the top when I picked the beige colored slutty dress I wore. It barely covered my ass and was literally glued to my skin. Her eyes moved from my boobs to my face and she hissed. "Mr Donovan is unavailable," "Unavailable? How on earth is he unavailable? I'm supposed to meet him by eight!" At least that was what my father had told me. Perhaps she had it all wrong. She probably thought I was some crazy call girl who wanted to see her boss. "I'm his secretary," I told her leaning on the counter. "Camille Caldwell," "I know who you are," she said unfazed. "You're late Miss Caldwell and your outfit is... Not suitable."I scoffed, "That doesn't give you any right to treat me like this. How about we leave the judging to Gavriel?" "It's Mr Donovan to you!" She hissed and I stepped back, sure that she
