"What happened to Auntie Cora, momma? Why won't she wake up?"

The sound of Andrew's voice was so far away. She felt like she was in a tunnel and unable to get out.

She could hear the hushed voices around her and the shushes when Andrew tried to ask questions. Everyone sounded worried.

She could feel herself slowly regaining consciousness, but she felt weak and drained. Her mind was blank and she had no idea where she was or what had happened. Her overall being felt different. As if she felt a release like she had been set free.

Little did she know, that others had gone literally mad when they had been through what she had. The bits and pieces of her memory that had been repressed for so many years had started to come back. They would be small and short at first. The vampire that compelled her had done a thorough job and only two things could break the compulsion that he had done on her. The vampire would have to reverse her compulsion or a traumatic experience that would shock her

Back in her room, she lay quietly with her eyes closed shutting everyone out seemed the best thing for her. At the moment she was in a fragile state. With the lights dimmed, and the curtains shut, the cool air conditioning seemed to help her feel much better. Well, physically she felt better. Emotionally she was falling apart. A few hours later, Maya and Jesse helped her out of bed and into a chair so she could eat something for dinner. She was grateful that it was just a sandwich and some green grapes. She didn't think that she could handle anything else right now. Her stomach was still uneasy and she didn't feel hungry at all. After dinner, she stated she was tired and wanted to go to bed early. She fell asleep instantly hoping that the next day would bring her more peace. That was when the nightmares began. Cora stood by the entrance to the old cabin. Inside the cabin were the defectors from their pack. She knew that it was her responsibility to take them down. The warriors

A week went by with the nightmares that seemed to plague her every sleeping moment. She couldn't get the images out of her mind and with each passing day, she was slipping into more darkness. As time wore on, she tried everything that she could to stay awake. Sleeping was now her ultimate fear. Ana suggested that she see the Royal Therapist once a day to start and then cut back the time as she healed. The sad thing was that Ana was afraid she was going to lose her daughter all over again. She didn't want that to happen. Cora had begun to deal with seizures and more panic attacks. Mostly because of the things she had done and they were coming back to haunt her. Once she had actually died in one of her dreams. Bringing her back to the land of the living was difficult. It was all Ana could do to get Cora to hang on. After a week, she finally stabilized enough that Ana tried to bring in the pack therapist. Cora was pulling away and withdrawing more and more into herself. Some days she

Weeks went by and Cora pulled more into herself. She continued writing in the journal after each session and Ana was slowly losing hope that she would ever get her daughter fully back. Jesse and Andrew felt it as well. Cora had eaten very little in the past month and she was looking gaunt and sickly. Her wolf was suffering as well and Cora had become bedridden. She was fading away slowly from the madness after the compulsion was broken, her mind unable to focus on anything. The therapist took her journal to study what had been written and she slowly came to the realization that Cora had been hypnotized. Something that no one suspected and Cora had just learned. She raised an eyebrow when she looked further into the journal entries. The first one was clear and concise. I told the story of what she and the warriors had done. It was in the later entries that she realized that Cora knew that she was Alyssa and was dealing with some of the flashbacks. Many of the entries were written in

Cora lay on the bed in her room with the blankets over her head. Her head throbbed with the pain that the memories were causing her and she felt sick from her previous actions. She felt cold and weak a the moment and her eyes were closed as she tried to push the horrible things out of her head. She wanted to die at this point. Give up because she had lost hope of ever being normal or happy again. Not after what she was remembering. It didn't matter to her that she was compelled to do those things. That she was poisoned and hypnotized by the man that she thought was her father. The man that she still considered her father in some ways. She missed him at times. The hardest part of the whole thing was that she also knew that Jeffrey and Ana were her parents. That they were brokenhearted and disappointed in the daughter that they had recovered, only to find that she was not their daughter anymore. Not in the ways that counted. She didn't even know if Alyssa existed underneath all of th

Cora sighed as he removed the blankets and lifted her out of the bed. Cradling her in his arms, he held her close. He began to whisper in her ear and he snuggled her. She was so surprised that she didn't even struggle in his strong arms. Tingles shot through her body. The mate bond was working its magic as he held her. She knew that he understood that mate bond more than he let on. Cassiopeia was enjoying every moment of this and she could hear her purring in the back of her mind. The sound annoyed her at first. She didn't want a mate. At least she didn't up until now. It seemed that the moon goddess had other ideas and she was making them known. Alyssa had her life planned before she was kidnapped and brought to the castle. She was going to help her father strengthen the pace and expand it. She wanted to be his second in command. She almost was. Now, everything had changed and she was so confused. Xander's arrival didn't help matters. It confused her even more. Still, she remaine

The next morning Alyssa awoke to an empty warm spot next to her and she sat up to look around the room. After a moment she realized that she could hear the shower going and she knew that was where Xander went.Maya poked her head in at that moment and smiled. She was glad that Alyssa seemed to be returning to her old self."Breakfast will be served in the royal dining hall in an hour. Everyone is excited to see you."Alyssa smiled back and nodded. Her memories and dreams were slowly going away and she was able to think clearer. It seemed that all those stories that she had heard about mate healing were true. At least from her point of view.Furthermore, she didn't feel compelled to be loyal to the Rogue King. He may have raised her, but Jeffrey was her father. Something that she never would have chosen belfore. She was hoping that she was finally home and that she was free of that part of her life forever. The shower stopped and she quickly got up to get dressed for the day. The next few weeks were filled with lots of reading, etiquette lessons, and field training with the other warriors.Alyssa was kept busy and barely had time to breathe. At night she would crash next to Xander and sleep on his chest. The one place where she felt safest. It was strange to depend on someone else. As a Paglione, she had learned to depend on herself. She could still do it now if she had to. Truthfully, she liked it and she felt more tension ease off her mind as the days went on.It wasn't long before she was ready to be welcomed back into the pack. There was a ceremony and a party that would follow. Of course, she was nervous about this. She was starting to remember some of the members of the pack and she wondered how they would react to her being back after everything that happened. As time progressed, though, everyone seemed to be genuinely glad that she was home. There was a big event hosting all the Alphas from all the packs in Jeffrey's kingdom and the top few from Th

It was soon time to attend the ritual. She was nervous as could be, but she knew that she would not reject the bond. A bond that was once just automatic. Now she had to rejoin the pack that she was snatched from all those years ago. Ana led her out to the place in the woods where the ritual would be performed. Henry had his guards join some of the royal warriors to help protect the pack during the ritual, spacing them around the pack borders to make sure that no one entered or left the pack. The ritual place was in a sacred grove that had been created for the ritual. There was an alter and seating for the pack to witness her being brought into the pack. As she stepped forward into the grove she could see that every seat had been filled and some were standing around the edges so that they could witness as well. The turnout meant that she was more than likely being accepted into the pack without question. The pack all knew that she was not responsible for her earlier actions and t

Breakfast was soon over and Kaia was immediately taken to go shopping with her new nanny for new clothes and other things that she would need. Even the paperwork was being drawn up for Alyssa and Xander to adopt the pup. Everyone seemed to adore the girl and she definitely seemed to fit in nicely. She would soon start school and be in class with Little A. She knew that the two would get along well and they had good tutors that would teach her more about how a young princess should act. Somehow, she had a feeling about the girl. She was an orphan, but she wondered if she came from a higher bloodline. Her gut feeling said that she did, but Alyssa didn't know and she knew that she would have to get her father to find out. He would be the one that could do that. It was his kingdom after all.Soon she was headed for the meeting that was planned for the day. She had a lot of questions to answer about the old pack. Along with Andrew, they would be there all day. Lunch and dinner would need

The next morning Alyssa was surprised to see that the young girl had made it out of her own room and was laying between her and Xander on the bed fast asleep. She glanced over at Xander and saw that he was still asleep, his arm was wrapped around her as he slept. Still, he was holding both of his girls at the same time. She thought she had dreamed everything about the girl and how perfect she was. Now she knew that Kaia was real. Very real. She smiled and smoothed the girl's long hair out of her face and gazed in admiration at the small features of the cub. She was as perfect as she could be. It wasn't long before Kaia stirred and gazed into Alyssa's eyes first with a smile before looking down at the beautiful little pup between them. He was proud of his two females and for the moment he just wanted to lay there and gaze at the two, enjoying the moments they had before they all had to get up and start their day. There was so much that had to be done and he wanted a few moments to fi

The rest of the evening seemed to fly by with the child by her right side and Xander at her left. The rest of the pack and the Alphas took turns coming up to greet her, Xander, and now little Kaia. They seemed to adore the beautiful child and she knew that she was going to ask her mother if the pup could stay at the castle and attend school with the other children. That is if the others accepted her. She hoped that they did because she knew that the pup needed a good home and kind people to care for her. She would see to getting the girl a gentle and trusted nanny to help care for her when she or her mother could not be there to take care of her. By the end of the night, she was carrying the child in her arms as she had fallen fast asleep. She could tell by the way the girl clung to her that something was wrong and Alyssa would more than likely be checking out how the orphanage was being run. The children there may not have families, but they were certainly part of the future of the

The night was far from over. Alyssa visited with her family and smiled whenever she caught some of the pups looking at her and then waved at them, causing them to wave back. Like her previous pack, she felt a protectiveness toward them even though she didn't know them. For some reason, she loved the little ones. If anyone doubted it, they had never seen her with her nephew. She adored him. Soon the meal was done and they stood to go mingle with their Pack Alphas. There were many packs in the kingdoms. All of them answered to the High Alpha king. Or the Alpha King. At the time She had no idea that there were other royal families out there as well. Not until now. Many of the Alphas and Betas came from Royal blood. The High King had to go over his list once more. The Royal families would be making up the main alliance with the High King, for now, allowing him to enforce laws into their pack as they prepared for war. Once the war was over, they would go back to the rules and laws t

Alyssa gasped as she glanced over at her father and then her brother. She knew that this was not a good thing. Not at all. Still, she knew she shouldn't be as surprised as she was. It was something that would be inevitable. They would not allow themselves to talk about what the Rogue Alpha was planning. Death now or death later. They knew the laws of the Rogue pack. She let her eyes wander around the room as a few of the guests turned their way, curiously. The look in their eyes betrayed the fact that they were all wondering why the Royals seemed concerned and hush-hush about everything going on.One of the Alphas from the neighboring pack came over. He was definitely an Alpha and looked rather familiar to her, but at the moment she could not place him.The scar over his left eye stood out as most wolves healed really well and she figured he'd had a near-death experience. One of the few ways a scar would remain. She remained quiet as the Alpha spoke with the two kings after baring his

It wasn't until they got halfway down the hall did she notice that Xander had his arm wrapped around her and his nose in her neck. She could feel his legs brushing against her dress as they walked and she realized that he was marking her with his scent. He liked to cuddle with her anyway so this didn't seem too awkward and she noticed that the others paid no attention to the actions that the prince was doing.Soon they stood at the top of the staircase that led down to the ballroom. At that moment they were out of sight and Maya was whispering to the announcer that the royal family had arrived. Even Xander's sister was there with her mate and their daughter.Alyssa realized she didn't remember their names as they had only met briefly, but she was more concerned at the moment that she didn't tumble down those stairs in the heels that she was wearing. The announcer called everyone to attention and the noise of the crowd died down as he announced that the royal families were there. Alyssa stood in front of the mirror as her ladies in waiting helped her dress for the ball. The dark green dress flattered her figure and she was surprised at how well the silk gown fit. Normally, if the female wolf has not been marked, the dress would cover her shoulders, but this one had a lace bodice and the lace straps were off the shoulder. She had a see-through cloak that she would be wearing over it. It would tie at the neck and hide the fact that she was not marked yet, but she knew that Xander would handle that when he was dressed. She gave herself another spin before she sat on the stool in front of her vanity. The next part would be makeup and finally her long thick wavy red hair that matched her mother's shade. She was not fond of sitting still, being a tomboy at heart, she was always wanting to be outside going for a run and often wore sweats and tennis shoes. Her eyes drifted to watch the makeup artist and she began applying her makeup, making sure that the foundation

Alyssa was a bit annoyed at being so well protected, but at the same time, she was used to it. AJ was also charged with watching over her in the rogue pack. She was used to having someone trailing behind her. She knew that AJ still watched over her, especially since he had placed himself next to her for the meeting. Xander was on her right and AJ was on her left, forcing Maya to sit behind her. She was aware of the protection in the room. She stood and headed to the exit. She had things to do to get ready and she was also hungry. The moment that lunch was mentioned it seemed that the whole room had growling stomachs. Being a wolf meant that she had a voracious appetite, but not as voracious as the males. She also knew that they had to get out of the room as well. Even though the high-ranking wolves could play nice, if they spent any more time in the room, there would be a fight. High-ranking males were very territorial and also very protective and jealous. Considering that Lucy, Ana,

Alyssa remained quiet as the letter was opened and the High Alpha King read the letter first. After he was done he handed the letter to her father and her father read the letter. Neither one said anything, nor did their expression change as the letter was folded back up and placed back into the envelope. Alyssa was curious, but her previous training in the Rogue Pack had also taught her one thing that she needed to do right now. She too kept her face free and clear of any emotion. She remained silent and patient until they were ready to let them know what was in the letter. She knew that they might not want to reveal it at the moment or they may never tell what was in the letter. What she did know, was that it was her place to be respectful and let whatever they decided to be their sole decision. The two kings gazed at each other a moment before they nodded and slid the letter over to Alyssa to read. Raising an eyebrow, she hesitated before she reached for the envelope and then sli
