Sarina's POV:

"Try leaving me again, Sarina, and you'll see what you're truly looking for," Maximus said, his voice laced with anger.

I ignored him, scrolling through my phone.

"Are you even listening?" he demanded, frustration clear in his tone, but I remained unfazed.

Why should I care about someone who valued others' opinions over my feelings?

He had just returned from the hospital, and as soon as Aries—who had brought him home—left, Maximus began lecturing. Did he really think his fury would affect me?

"Sarina!" he shouted.

"Don't yell at me!" I snapped.

He probably thought I'd let him treat me this way just because we had supposedly settled our issues.

"If I see Miranda again, I'll do it all over again. Just tell me now if you're going to let her flirt with you, so I don't have to keep tagging along," I said sharply.

"Are you jealous?" he asked, as if that was the issue.

I nearly laughed at the absurdity but held it back.
