Miya was raised in a somewhat challenging environment. Her father was often occupied with work, while her mother was frequently unwell. Leukemia took a gentle woman with eyes as warm as the morning sun from Miya at a young age. Even so, there's one important lesson her mother left Miya with: don't give up, especially when you've been humiliated.
That's what Miya was up to now. Although she was feeling very emotional, Miya walked steadily, as if she were walking on eggshells. She approached the man she was seeing, ignoring the crazy girl who had just provoked her emotions. Then,
PLAK!!!
Miya gave Rhett a sharp slap. It was so hard that the man she loved actually turned red in the face and cut his lip a little.
"You!" Rhett exclaimed, looking annoyed. "What are you doing?" He was ready to lunge at Miya. The slap Miya gave him caught the attention of some of his college friends, and Rhett wasn't pleased.
However, Miya wasn't concerned. This time, her steps led her back to the girl who was staring at Miya with a somewhat troubled look. "Are you upset because I told the truth?" Vero asked, folding her arms across her chest. Her gaze was still on Miya, as if she were looking down on her. Vero saw Miya as her main rival on campus.
Particularly when it comes to competing for Rhett's attention, who is now turning to her. Vero is feeling pretty happy right now and she'll keep pushing Miya to the wall, especially given her current situation. This is a great chance to make Miya look bad in comparison to Ashton.
"No," Miya replied calmly. She was already in front of Vero, looking at her with a small smile. "You like my boyfriend, right? Because of what I've been through, you think you're more worthy of being by his side?"
Vero looked up and gave a little smile. "Oh, did Miya Ashton admit to bankruptcy? I'm looking forward to making a donation in case you need a lot of money to fulfill your life's goals."
Miya's hands were clenched, but she tried to stay calm. "You didn't answer my question, by the way." Without worrying about the consequences, Miya grabbed Vero's long hair and pulled it tight. The girl let out a cry of pain and tried to break free from Miya's tight grip.
"You're out of your mind! Let me go, Miya!"
"It's delicious." Miya let out a short laugh. "It's payback for you getting my goat. I don't care if you take Rhett away from me.
After all, that guy is nothing like a cheap guy, who deserves to be with someone who's not so cheap like you." Miya gave a triumphant grin. But that didn't last long, as Vero came back with a vengeance.
The early morning drama, which seemed like a fight over a man, and the many insults that came out of Vero's mouth, was witnessed by many people. Those watching and cheering the commotion were in for a surprise. Some people backed Miya, while others sided with Vero.
It caused quite a stir until…
"How long do you plan to continue this wrestling match? Should I set up a boxing ring?"
***
Miya winced as the cotton swab, soaked in alcohol, hit her wound. She had a cut on her lip, a bruise on her cheek, and scratches on her hands and feet from Vero's nails, which were quite sharp. But at least Vero felt the same way. The girl's appearance was no worse than Miya's. That was another reason for Miya's grin.
"See?" Vero indicated the area where Miya was receiving treatment. She was still unhappy with how she was treated because of what Miya did. "That girl really needs to be taught a lesson! I'm not going to stay silent on this.
I'm going to make sure Miya Ashton is held accountable for this."
One of the teachers with Vero couldn't help but sigh. "Can you take a moment to calm down? Your wound needs to be treated right away."
"There's no need," Vero said right away. "I'll go to the hospital and have a post-mortem done. I'm also going to sue Miya with the best lawyer in the country and make sure that girl begs for my forgiveness."
"Are you sure about that?" she interjected with a chuckle. "Even if I am who you say I am, I'm not going to put up with your cheap behavior, Bitch!"
"You!" Vero again approached Miya, who was sitting casually with Tessa, her best friend. Tessa stepped in to break up the confrontation. She also found herself in the middle of what might soon become a bit of a commotion. If we don't intervene, this situation in the rector's room is likely to repeat itself.
"Could you please calm down?" Tessa said in a loud, clear voice.
"Let's sit down and talk this through, Verocina Lodge." The voice also came from the teacher who was with Vero and who had been treating him. "If you misbehave, you'll face consequences that might be more severe than you expect."
Vero made a displeased sound, while Miya just chuckled even though her heart was suddenly in turmoil. Ms. Thompson was right. They were in for a big punishment, especially since Mr. Victor, the owner of the university, saw the commotion and struggle in the corridor that morning.
He was arguably too young to be one of the important rectors and owners of the famous Hillarious University. He had dark brown hair and similar beady eyes, and he was tall and well-proportioned. But Victor Wyatt's looks don't necessarily reflect his behavior.
Victor was known as one of the most disciplined middle-class teachers around. He doesn't have much patience for students who haven't done their assignments. He likes to come up with some ridiculous punishments to show students that if they're in school, they need to follow the rules. He's also a very cold and rigid school owner.
This made Miya's goosebumps bristle. She wondered what punishment she would get for the commotion. Even though she could defend herself, there'd still be monitoring, and a lot of people would agree with Vero's statement about who attacked first. Miya let out a frustrated sigh, without even realizing it.
"What's up with you?" Tessa asked, refocusing on Miya. "I haven't finished healing your wound yet. Let's take a quick break. You're a bit too rough."
"I wasn't the one who started the fight," Miya grumbled. But her eyes were now fixed on the floor she was standing on. "To be honest, I'm a bit scared."
Tessa can't help but laugh a little to keep her composure, especially in front of Veronica, who is still grumbling and trying to explain what happened. The news also included the announcement of the Ashton Group's bankruptcy. It seems like the news really pleased Veronica.
"If you're lucky, it'll only be a month suspension."
"You're making me even more nervous," Miya said. "I can't solve the problem just by talking to you."
"I admire your courage." Tessa gave her a thumbs-up. "I think it's safe to say that the whole campus is aware of Rhett's reputation now."
"Cih!" Miya made a disapproving sound.
But as soon as Victor Wyatt walked in, the conversation came to a standstill. Tessa and Ms. Thompson also took a step back, hoping Miya and Vero were okay facing Victor's intimidating wrath.
"Alright, what can I hear from you?" Victor pulled up a chair in the center of the room. Veronica was on his right, staring at the other side with a look of intense anger. Meanwhile, Miya Ashton appeared to be attempting to compose herself. Both of their faces were covered in plaster from the struggle that took place this morning.
"She came to me first, Mr. Victor. She came at me, slapped me, grabbed me..." Veronica just kept on talking. She winced in pain now and then, and her words also seemed to suggest that she was the victim of Miya's cruelty.
Miya knew she wasn't allowed to speak yet, so she just listened to all of Vero's complaints, her breath catching. Veronica made her face red with emotion as she recounted many incidents, exaggerating them. Damn it!
"And I'm not going to stay silent, Mr. Victor. As you know, the Lodge family has a lot of influence in the legal field. I've asked my parents to demand damages and retribution from Miya. I can't accept her treating me like a punching bag!" Veronica spoke up with a fiery tone. Veronica was confident she would win this fight, especially since Miya was in no condition to defend herself.
The family is already bankrupt, so they won't be able to afford a lawyer to defend against the demands Veronica will make.
"If you've had your say, Miss Lodge, please come out," Victor said, pointing at the door to his room.
"But, sir, I just wanted to..."
"As for Miya and her punishment, that's something the school will decide."
"I still don't agree that Miya has..."
"Leave now." Victor shot a sarcastic look at the gorgeous, infuriating girl. Victor's actions didn't sit well with Vero, but she respected the school owner's decision. At last, she stepped out, feeling rather downhearted.
Even so, Veronica thinks Miya will face consequences for her actions. She'll also act because she won't stand for Miya's arbitrary treatment.
Meanwhile, Miya sensed a sudden chill in the air in Victor Wyatt's room. It made her hair stand on end. She swallowed a few times, feeling anxious and scared as she waited for her punishment to come. On top of everything else, she was no longer able to attend school here. Oh my goodness, Miya never thought this would happen. This was her last semester before she would complete her bachelor’s degree.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Victor," Miya said quietly.
"Oh, you admit you made a mistake?"
Miya nodded and looked down.
"There's no smoke without fire. Right, Miya?"
"I..."
"I'm sure Miss Lodge's threats are no joke. I also know what happened with your family. I don't have time for small talk, Miya. In the next couple of days, you might find yourself in a bit of a pickle. Of course, you'll also have to face consequences from me."
"But, sir, if it wasn't for Vero starting it, I wouldn't want to get into trouble." Miya tried to muster up the courage to look at the other person, but after catching sight of Victor's bright brown eyes, she looked down again. What did that look all about? That was awful!
"Your only mistake is that you're a bit impatient." You tend to rely on your emotions when it comes to problem-solving. And that's what happened as a result."
Miya looked down again. "My apologies."
"Is this apology going to solve the problem?" Victor tapped his fingers on the table. "You're suspended for a month. The school isn't organizing any extra classes. When you come back, you'll need to show me your final test results. Not the other examiners."
Miya bit her lower lip hard. "Yes, sir."
"And the school won't get involved if you run into legal issues involving Miss Lodge."
This is the worst-case scenario for Miya.
"Unless..." Victor gave a little smile. Because of this, Miya looked up and exchanged glances with him.
"What is it, sir?"
"You'll do as I ask."
Miya's brow furrowed. "Your request?"
"That includes returning all the assets we've taken, stopping Ms. Lodge from trying to bring you down, and getting back to normal studies."
"Is that something we can do?" Miya asked, surprised. "You're... joking?"
"No." Victor gets up from his seat and goes over to his desk, which is just a few steps away. He opened one of the drawers and pulled out a blue folder. He gave it to Miya and said, "Take a look at what's in there and let me know what you think. If you're on board, we'll make it work."
Miya quickly opened the file Victor gave her and saw "Geheime Vertrag" right away.
"Geheime Vertrag?" Miya couldn't help but mutter involuntarily.
"It's a secret contract," Victor said quietly, right in Miya's ear. "It's a secret contract between you and... Mr. Damian Sawyer.
Miya's eyes were wide with surprise. "Damian Sawyer?"
"You know him, right?"
"No way!" Miya closed the file right away. "I'm not going to get involved with that guy." She quickly grabbed the bag that was nearby. "Thanks for the advice, Mr. Victor. I'll serve my sentence right away."
Victor smiled knowingly, having seen this coming. "Come back if you change your mind," he says before she leaves his office.
While Miya grumbled, "Is there anything crazier than this?"
"You should know that you'll be starting your punishment today."Miya let out a low growl of frustration, but she couldn't fault the teacher for showing up at this late hour. By the end of the first hour, Miya was already behind. When she got to the second hour, Miya was asked to leave her class. Miya will start serving the punishment given to her by Victor Wyatt, who owns this university."My apologies." That was all Miya could say, moving along slowly. Don't ask her how bad she had to look to give a smile so that her best friend, who had been watching her, wouldn't worry too much. Once she was in front of the classroom door, Miya let out a frustrated sigh. "What's the best way to handle this?"If it weren't for the message on her cell phone, Miya might have already decided to head home. Why was she always here? There wasn't anything for her to do, right?Tessa sent her a message asking her to wait at a café not far from campus. Miya couldn't very well ignore her best friend's reques
Miya lowered herself onto the somewhat compact bed in her current room. The room had a totally different feel to it compared to the one she'd stayed in previously. It was comfortable enough, but Miya felt it lacked a few things. "Has my luck run out since yesterday?" Miya partially closed her eyes, enjoying the view of the ceiling with the back of her hand. She let out a long sigh repeatedly, trying to calm down, even though it was very difficult.Veronica was dead serious. She'd come to Miya just to confirm that she'd face prosecution. On top of that, she won't be able to attend lectures for the next month because she's serving Mr. Victor's sentence. On top of that, she recently got a call from her father. She still owes him a lot of money."How can I get out of this?" she asked quietly. She was so upset that she started crying. "Why does this have to happen to me?" The only sound in the room was the clock on the wall, ticking away.Miya was completely at a loss, used as she was to
"You look great, Miss Miya," said one of the boutique employees who had just fastened the last button of the soft pink dress worn by the blonde-haired girl."Thanks." That was all Miya could manage to say. Her reflection in the mirror showed her what she needed to know. Her blonde hair was styled beautifully, with a slight choppiness at the ends. One side of her hair was pinned up with a ribbon-shaped clip. She's also wearing pearl earrings that are like the necklace she's wearing. Her white skin just makes Miya look even more beautiful.Miya was ready for a change of pace, aso she turned around. She looked at the man who had been waiting for her, changing clothes and getting ready with the help of some skilled hands. He made her shabby appearance change in just a fairly short period of time. Miya was never surprised by his appearance. She was used to things like this. Even a collection from this boutique brand occupies a small space in her wardrobe. The crafts
This is where she is now. In a room with mostly white walls, the smell of medicine, though masked by air freshener, still has a rather unpleasant quality. There were a few medical devices on one of the stacking shelves at one of the edges of the bed. And let's not forget the monitor that had just been used to check. Against whom? Who else could it be, if not Miya Ashton?"Everything looks good," the middle-aged female doctor said gently, looking at Miya with a reassuring smile. The exam results show that your uterus is in good health and there are no abnormalities or problems to worry about.Miya nodded slowly, although she was still feeling a bit anxious. She kept her eyes fixed on the monitor showing the results of the examination, as if she needed to see it again to believe what she had just heard. "I'm healthy," she told herself."So, what does that mean?" Miya finally spoke up, her voice a little shaky."This means you're good to go if you want to have
"Oh, no! Victor wasn't being truthful with me," she thought to herself. She clenched her hands in nervous anticipation. Had she finally had her lucky streak end? Oh, no. It seemed that God was simply postponing their meeting. In a nutshell, Miya was going to interact with that man. The man who gave Miya the creeps. "What should I do later?" Miya bit her fingertips. She couldn't shake the feeling of anxiety and fear that came over her. "Should I just pretend to faint?" Miya closed her eyes tightly. It was ridiculous that the thought had even crossed her mind."Never mind!" Miya gave her cheek a good, firm pat. Alex, who was driving, immediately focused on the girl in the backseat."What's the problem, Miss?" she asked, sounding rather frantic. Although Miya could see that the blonde-haired girl was agitated, she was surprised that Miya would slap herself on the cheek."Nothing." Miya let out a long sigh. "Don't worry about me."Alex still wasn't convinced. The girl's face looked flush
The only thing Miya could do to relieve the pressure on her throat was to bite Damian's lip. She doesn't know how many times her hands hit the man's chest, but there was no reprieve. Instead, Miya's hands were held above her head with a strong choke by Damian. Damian didn't even let her fill her lungs with air. "Ah, you like to play rough." Damian paused his kiss for a moment. A thin line of saliva formed between the two lips that had been pressed together. "I can't breathe," Miya said, her voice catching. Her eyes were trying to avoid making eye contact with Damian, who had night-dark irises. Miya was squirming restlessly because her hands were still tied by the room owner. "Could you let me out, please?"Damian gave a little grin. "I don't usually let prisoners go easily."Miya's eyes were already glazed over and ready to well up at any moment. The urge to kick the guy supporting her was strong, unfortunately... Miya hadn't forgotten about the bandage wrapped around Damian's abdom
"Has my husband said when he'll be back this afternoon?" a woman in a wheelchair asked. She looked over at the entrance to her three-story house. This house was anything but ordinary. It was a luxurious mansion, complete with all the trappings of a couple from an upper class background. The room where the woman sat had been set up with a window overlooking the main gate. The idea was to let her know right away if her husband came home, even though it was unclear when he'd be back."Nothing, Mrs. Rebecca," said one of the servants, not far behind the woman.Rebecca Sawyer let out a long sigh. She was Damian Sawyer's wife, but unfortunately, that was something she could only celebrate on rare occasions. Maybe at the beginning of their marriage? Or maybe it was before everything happened? The accident that made Rebecca regret and curse her new status as "different." "Give me my cell phone." The hand with red, polished nails asked for her cell phone. Since she'd been in a wheelchair, she
"Here's your phone, Miss Miya," Desi said, holding out Miya's cell phone, which she recognized immediately.Since then, Miya has been sitting around, waiting with a lot of anxiety. In a room with a tense atmosphere, Miya felt like a bait ready to be swallowed by this predator. With no way out, there was little she could do. From time to time, Damian—the owner of the room—asked about several things. After that, it was quiet again, except for the sound of Damian typing on his keyboard, the phone ringing, and him engaged in a long conversation. It was pretty dull, but there was nothing Miya could do.At lunchtime, Desi brought in a trolley full of food, and several waiters served it quickly at one of the tables in the corner of the room. The room had a large window, and the lighting made Miya feel warm.Lunch also went by quickly. Damian and Miya didn't say much, but one thing made the blonde girl happy. She was happy to wait a little longer, if she had her cell phone back in her hand."
That night, Leonard stood in an empty building on the outskirts of the city, his face full of confidence. In his hand, there was a cell phone displaying important messages for his men. The plan to harm Miya was almost complete. He would not let Damian win.“Make sure Miya doesn't get out of the mansion. If necessary, make a big enough ruckus so Victor and Marcus can't focus on protecting her,” Leonard ordered over the cell phone. However, unbeknownst to him, one of Marcus' men had infiltrated his communication network. The messages were relayed directly to Marcus. At Damian's mansion, Marcus read the report seriously. “Leonard's on the move again,” he told Victor, who immediately stood up.“We have to act fast. I won't let him touch Miya,” Victor replied in a firm tone.A car was speeding through the streets of Northderm. Leonard tried to escape after realizing that his plan had been leaked. However, behind him, Marcus' team was ready to give chase.“Don't let him get away!” exclaimed
Damian sat quietly in the small interrogation room, staring at Tedy who was tied to the chair in front of him. In the corner of the room, Harold stood restlessly, going through a pile of documents and notes.“He won't talk,” Harold muttered, breaking the silence.Damian raised one eyebrow, his expression cold. “Everyone has a soft spot. If he doesn't talk now, I'll make sure he regrets his silence.”Tedy looked up, his face scarred but his smile mocking. “You think I'm afraid of you, Damian? I've survived this far. You won't get anything out of me.”Damian leaned closer, his voice low but threatening. “I don't need your confession, Tedy. I just want to make sure that you have no way out. Harold, prepare the documents for the court martial. I want him processed as soon as possible.”Harold looked at Damian skeptically. “Court martial? Damian, this will attract great attention. Are you sure this is the right move?”Damian nodded firmly. “Leonard can't communicate with Tedy anymore. It's
Damian stepped into the room with a cold stare. The place was dark, lit only by a few low-hanging chandeliers, creating long shadows on the walls. Harold, the police chief who was Damian's partner, was already waiting there with some of his men. In the corner of the room, Tedy, Leonard's assistant, sat tied to a chair. His face was bruised, but his gaze remained defiant.“What did you find here?” Damian asked Harold matter-of-factly.Harold let out a long breath. “Not much. We only found traces of a small fight. Some of our guards were attacked in a very organized way. Leonard escaped with the help of someone who knows the ins and outs of this place very well.”Damian turned to Tedy. “This guy,” he said, pointing at the bound man. “He must know something. He was Leonard's right-hand man for years.”Marcus, who was standing next to Damian, approached with a tense face. “Let me do the talking first,” he said. Marcus approached Tedy and looked at him intensely. “Tell me where Leonard is
Rebecca sat in her office with a sharp gaze. In front of her, a man in a neat suit but looking nervous stood up while handing over a thick file. The man, one of Rebecca's confidants, sighed before speaking.“Mrs. Rebecca, this is all the information we managed to gather about the woman living in Mr. Damian's mansion,” he said in a careful tone.Rebecca opened the file and began to read carefully. Inside were photos of Miya walking in the garden with Hera and Kayoko, Miya looking happy while holding her growing belly, even some medical reports from the doctor who handled her pregnancy. Rebecca's face turned red, her eyes widened in anger.“Pregnancy? So this is the reason he's so protective of that woman?” her voice raised, making the man in front of her look down even deeper.“Yes, ma'am. That woman is pregnant. The doctor is Dr. Hana from the specialty clinic downtown,” the man replied in an almost whispered tone.Rebecca slammed the file onto the table. “Damian never told me anythin
Miya sat on the living room sofa with a worried face. The atmosphere of the mansion had been different since morning. The extra guards Damian had brought in were pacing back and forth with serious looks on their faces. Miya looked at the cup of tea in her hand, not really in the mood to drink it. Kayoko sat beside her, trying to break the ice with funny stories, but Miya's concern was still evident.“Miya, you're thinking too much,” Kayoko said as she thrust a piece of cake at Miya. “Try eating this. If you continue like that, Damian will definitely worry.”Miya let out a long breath. “I just feel like something's not right. All this... the extra security, Damian being more protective than usual, makes me wonder.”Desi, Miya's personal assistant, who was sitting not far from them, finally spoke up. “Mrs. Miya, there's actually something that Mr. Damian is furious about. Someone he was keeping an eye on... escaped from his watch. That's why he's tightened the security in this mansion.
That morning, the atmosphere at the Sawyer mansion was different. Damian was seen talking to some well-built men who had just arrived in the courtyard. Miya watched from the living room window, sensing something unusual. Kayoko, who was sitting next to her enjoying her morning tea, also glanced out.“What is Damian doing?” Miya asked quietly, more to herself.Kayoko turned her head and smiled slightly. “Maybe he just wants to make sure everything is safe. You know how Damian is.”Miya nodded, but curiosity got the better of her. She decided to wait until Damian came in to ask him directly. Not long after, Damian appeared in the living room. His face looked tense, but he tried to hide it with a small smile when he saw Miya.“What's going on, Damian?” she asked directly.Damian came over and sat next to her. He grasped Miya's hand gently. “Just a precaution. There's nothing for you to worry about.”Miya looked at him skeptically. “But why the extra security? Does this have anything to d
On the way home from the hospital, Miya looked out the window with a faint smile on her face. Damian, who was driving, gave her a quick glance. He knew it had been a long day for Miya, but that smile gave him peace of mind.“Damian,” Miya called in a soft voice.“Yes?” replied Damian, staying focused on the road ahead.“I want to eat ice cream,” Miya said suddenly.Damian looked over briefly with a raised eyebrow. “Ice cream? Now?”Miya nodded. “Yes. I feel like I need something sweet.”Damian gave a small smile. “Alright. But I don't want any interruptions. Just a moment.” He took out his cell phone and dialed someone's number through the car speaker. Soon, a man's voice answered on the other side.“Yes, Mr. Sawyer?”“I need you to arrange for the ice cream parlor downtown to be temporarily empty. I'll take my wife there in 20 minutes.”“Of course, sir. I'll take care of it right away.”Miya looked at Damian with her mouth slightly open. “You... booked a whole tavern just for us?”Da
The lunch was awkward at first. The long table on the terrace of Damian's house was adorned with delicious dishes that seemed unable to overcome the stiffness between them. Miya sat next to Damian, feeling nervous about the sight of Kayoko, Damian's sister whom she was meeting for the first time. Meanwhile, Victor sat at the other end of the table, looking relaxed with his thin smile that always managed to break the ice.Kayoko watched Miya intently, trying to guess the girl's character. On the other hand, Miya felt intimidated by Kayoko's presence who looked so confident and charismatic. “So, Miya,” Kayoko started the conversation in a casual tone, ”how does it feel to live in such a big house?”Miya was surprised for a moment, then smiled nervously. “Hmm, it's a little hard to get used to, really. But Damian is very helpful.” She glanced at Damian, who just nodded without saying much.Victor chuckled. “You should know already, Kayoko. Damian isn't good at showing his softer side. Bu
Kayoko pulled his suitcase with a feeling of exasperation. How could her brother break a promise that had already been made? Even more annoying than just breaking a promise was asking Victor Wyatt to pick her up! What crazy thing would Damian make Victor do?It wasn't that Kayoko hated him, but Victor was the last person she wanted to see. Victor could always get Kayoko annoyed and irritated and end up grumpy all day long because of his antics. He is annoying and very talented at making other people suddenly lose their minds because of his behavior. When she returned from Germany, Kayoko wanted to do something fun with Damian. It's been a long time since she spent time with her dear brother but what did she get? Ugh!“Miss Sawyer!”Kayoko who was grumbling and walking while stomping, turned her head towards the voice that called her. Damn it, Victor was there. Waving with a red handkerchief and writing in very clear capital letters. 'You're home too, Kayoko!Damn this Victor Wyatt guy
