Miya felt her whole body hurt and rigid, but... there was another warmth running through her body. No, it wasn't. Not just warm but turned into heat because ... “Sir,” Miya called out trying to break free. Unfortunately the man holding Miya did not move at all. Only his regular breathing was a sign that the man was still deep in sleep. Eyes that often stare around sharply full of intimidation are blocked by eyelids that are perfectly closed.
When viewed at this close range, the man who held Miya was very handsome. So much more handsome than when his eyes were open, wearing a full suit, with a gaze of hair even though sometimes the curls of the haircut stick out. Perhaps even if Damian Sawyer's appearance at that time was messy, this man's good looks would not change the situation.
If that night Miya marveled silently at how God perfectly sculpted Damian's face, this morning Miya felt Damian was much more human. And it seemed... Miya longed to touch him. Very gently for fear of disturbing the sleep that was still over Damian.
“What... are you not having a good sleep lately?” Miya asked softly. Her fingertips were already touching the tip of Damian's nose. “We were supposed to sleep in the tent but why did we end up in this place?” Miya giggled amusedly despite her best efforts not to make any disturbing sounds.
Miya's golden brown eyes looked at Damian's face for a while, as if she couldn't find any satisfaction in them. Occasionally, she looked around at the surroundings that seemed to be getting brighter as the sunlight began to shine.
“Sir,” Miya called out once more. “Do you really not want to get up?”
There was no response from Damian.
“I'm hungry,” Miya said half-sulkily. “My body hurts from sleeping on a sheet like this.” Once again she tried to loosen Damian's embrace on her. Damian was still asleep but why was he so strong?
“I didn't expect you to be so picky,” Damian muttered without even opening his eyes. Instead, he made Miya's attempts to break free from his embrace futile. In one fell swoop, Miya was back in his arms and tightened even more so that she couldn't move too much. “We'd better go back to sleep. I'm still sleepy.”
“Ugh!” Miya squirmed in displeasure. “ Sir, I'm out of breath.”
“Who's your master?” asked Damian who slowly opened his eyes. The first sight his eyes caught was Miya who was scowling. “Tell me, who is your master?”
“You,” Miya said as she tried to loosen the hug again. “Come on, it's too late in the day. I don't want your guards to see us like this.”
Damian sighed softly but finally freed Miya from his embrace. Even so, he pulled back the blanket to properly cover Miya's body. “You're right. It's already daylight." He sat up while ruffling his hair a little. Stretching his body to make it less stiff.
“Put your clothes on immediately, Miya. We need to get back to the tent,” Damian ordered immediately.
Miya frowned even more but she didn't want to argue much with Damian. Her desire to return to the tent was great. Her body felt sticky and she needed to use the bathroom immediately. And she had to make sure the marks Damian left on her body were not too noticeable. Miya had not forgotten Damian's savage behavior last night. No matter how many times she asked him to take it slow, Damian was suddenly deaf. Even the reddish patches Damian left the night before, Miya felt clarified.
“Sir, your horse is ready.” One of the guards standing guard around Damian informed him. He approached with his eyes downcast, not having the courage to meet his employer's gaze. Damian only nodded briefly while his eyes were still watching how Miya was getting ready.
It didn't take long for Damian to ride Kaffa, his gallant and loyal black horse. Miya was helped by Damian to get on first. After making sure she was seated comfortably, in one light but firm motion, he climbed into the saddle behind her. His hands gently but firmly held the reins.
Miya shifted slightly in the saddle, feeling the warmth of Damian's coat wrapped around her body. As well as the man's presence behind her. Despite their close proximity, Miya did not feel uncomfortable-instead, there was a sense of comfort that she found hard to explain.
Kaffa began to pace slowly, as if understanding that the rider wanted silence to enjoy the journey. Several guards were seen standing guard along the path, ensuring their safety. Damian gave a small nod to one of the guards, signaling that they could begin the journey back to the main tent.
That morning, the atmosphere was so peaceful. The piercing cold air slowly began to warm up as the sun rose. Golden light penetrated through the gaps in the trees, creating beautiful shadows that moved with Kaffa's steps. In the distance, the sound of water gurgling from the river flowing towards the lake could be heard, adding to the harmony of the morning. Miya lifted her face, letting the soft morning sunlight touch her skin.
“Damian,” Miya called softly, her soft voice almost drowned out by the sound of Kaffa's steps on the leaf-covered ground.
“Hm?” Damian answered without turning his head. His gaze focused forward however, his hand holding the reins shifted slightly. Making sure Miya was sitting comfortably in the saddle. He deliberately rested the tip of his chin on her shoulder. “What's wrong, Baby Girl?”
The question was in line with the warm puff that came out of the questioner's mouth. As if deliberately done to tease Miya. All Miya could do was hold her breath for a moment to keep her heart beating normally. Unfortunately, she couldn't ignore the blush on her face.
“What... are you going to a dangerous place?”
Damian grinned slightly. “Sezhya's harbor?” Damian gave Miya a light peck on the cheek. “Yes, it's quite a dangerous place for you. But to me, it's just a place to off-load large cargo."
Miya nodded slowly even as she wondered if it wasn't just dangerous. Last night Miya really noticed how Victor and Marcus' expressions when mentioning that place. Especially Victor who couldn't hide his irritation. Perhaps because of Marcus' seemingly relaxed personality, the man only responded to Victor's concerns casually. As if he was used to facing any kind of danger.
“Be careful, Damian,” Miya said quietly.
“Are you worried about me?” Damian gave a faint smile. “You don't need to do that, Miya. Just make sure you wait for me to come back with a smile and maybe... a tempting outfit?”
Miya rolled her eyes in annoyance. “It looks like you hit your head on something. Did you sleep on a really hard rock last night?”
Damian chuckled. He gave the girl in front of him another light peck. “Thank you for worrying about me.”
There was no more talking between them. Miya preferred to enjoy the journey to the main tent. When they started to approach the river, Miya couldn't help but be amazed. The clear river water reflected the morning sunlight, creating diamond-like sparkles that moved with the current. Small birds sang in the branches of the trees, complementing the natural beauty around them.
“It's beautiful,” Miya murmured, almost as if talking to herself.
Damian heard the words. He loosened the reins slightly, allowing Kaffa to step more leisurely. “If you like this place, we can come back anytime. I'll make sure everything remains the same, so you can enjoy it again."
Miya turned her head slightly, looking at the man out of the corner of her eye. Damian's gaze was as sharp as ever, but this time there was something different-there was warmth there, albeit hidden behind his cold demeanor. “Really?”
“When did I break my word?”
Miya smiled a little, feeling that maybe-just maybe-Damian wasn't as hardened as he always appeared.
When they finally arrived at the main tent area, several servants were already preparing to greet them. Damian got off first, then with a thoughtful gesture, he helped Miya off the Kaffa. His large, warm hands grasped Miya's fingers, making sure she got off safely. Miya felt her heartbeat quicken slightly when their fingers touched, but she masked her nervousness by averting her eyes.
“Thank you,” Miya said softly, her eyes not daring to look at Damian for too long.
Damian simply nodded, then led her towards the tent. “Breakfast is waiting. Make sure you eat well, Miya.” He checked around to make sure the person he was looking for was not far from them. “Desi, make sure you prepare Miya very well.”
“Yes, sir.” Desi quickly approached Miya. “Come, Miss.” Then he made a very low noise. “You kept me up all night. I was worried about you.”
Miya just chuckled. “You're doing a useless job, Desi.”
“I've prepared warm water for you. Rose fragrance this time? Do you like it?”
“Um... I guess that's fine. Can I get some breakfast first? I'm hungry,” Miya complained shamelessly.
But as it seemed, the day that was beginning to feel peaceful was disturbed again. Victor stumbled closer to Damian. He whispered something, making Damian's face, which had once looked human, look cold again and lose its warmth.
“Then I can't delay any longer. Is Marcus ready?” Damian took off his coat and tossed the origin to one of his guards. “Give me my suit,” he ordered to which the other bodyguard immediately responded.
"Got it. You can leave immediately,” Victor said still with a worried look on his face. “But... are you sure?”
“Do you doubt me?”
Victor sighed softly. “Not at all. I have everything you need already organized in the car."
“Good.” Damian wanted to rush off but something seemed to be holding him back. When he turned around, Miya was still there. Still standing there watching him as if she had seen what happened earlier.
“You don't have to worry about Miya. I'll make sure she's fine as long as she's around me.”
Victor was her confidant. Miya was under the watchful eye of the right person. Because of that, Damian had nothing to worry about. He just nodded at Victor's words and like he said, he had to say goodbye properly. His legs swung confidently towards Miya. Once they're really close, his fingers tug Miya's chin for ease as he plants... a light kiss. Although it was light, it made Miya feel bursting with surprise as well as the feeling of this kiss being so filled with affection.
Only Victor dared to see what they were doing. The others? Looked down or looked away as if nothing was happening in front of him.
“Wait for me to come home, Baby Girl.” The words were accompanied by a paused kiss. A thin thread of their saliva formed which allowed Damian to gently brush the surface of Miya's lips.
The only reply Miya could give was a nod.
“If you're bored, you can leave the mansion but only with Victor. And don't complain if people follow your activities."
Despite that, Miya's smile was really bright. At least Damian was letting her feel the free air out there. “Thank you,” she said as she stood on tiptoe and planted a brief peck on Damian's cheek. “I'll wait for you to come home, Damian.”
“Harold and his subordinates are already on the move,” informed Marcus who was already busy with the laptop on his lap. “He should arrive about 20 minutes after we reach the harbor.”Damian only nodded briefly. He leaned lazily on his arm. Reluctantly observing their journey that took approximately three hours.“I've got a visual on the Port. The CCTV in the entrance area and our destination can already be displayed. Do you want to see it?” asked Marcus who was still looking at his work screen. His fingers were skillfully fiddling with the many numbers and letters there.“Any suspicious movements?”“Nothing. It's still running as normal as it should be.”“Make sure the ship carrying our goods has no problems loading it.”Marcus nodded. “I see.”No one spoke after that. Although Marcus occasionally muttered with curses, or grumbled, but still all his work was done quickly and meticulously. “Kayoko gave me the news, two more days to arrive at Northderm. And the financial report of all S
“We will enter the harbor area.”Damian nodded reluctantly. Glancing at his partner and best friend who looked excited. The slightly curly-haired man could see Marcus' meticulous preparations. Several sharp weapons had been tucked away wherever they could be stored.“Did you have to do all that?” asked Damian with a dismissive look. “You know, it's useless.”Marcus chuckled. “Hey-hey-hey, Damian. You shouldn't underestimate my preparation. At the very least, I should give a special gift to that bastard named Tedy.”Damian grinned. “Don't let you mess up the plan.”Marcus just snorted in displeasure. “A life should be paid for a life, not thrown in jail.”“That little bit of vengeance of mine, you idiot!” Damian straightened his back. Their car had started to enter the harbor area where it could be seen that there were several officers conducting checks on each incoming vehicle. Including the car Damian was riding in.“Good afternoon,” greeted one of the officers whom Damian immediatel
A few minutes before the incident.Leonard chose to sit next to the chair previously occupied by Damian. The man's arrival was quite surprising because there was no prior notice. Leonard thought, with Rebecca coming to the place where he felt Damian was hiding something, Damian would be busy. But apparently, Damian came to this place instead.“Damn,” he muttered under his breath and finished the wine in his glass. “Pablo, pour some more for me,” he said, pointing the glass at Pablo who had been beside him.“Yes, Mr. Leonard.”Leonard continued to observe the people working to move the valuables that needed to be sent to Catterpilar. Even so, Leonard's smile looked satisfied because this part of the shipment had gone according to his plan. Leonard's brain had calculated how much profit he could enjoy once all the goods were sold.“You can't be too greedy, Damian,” Leonard muttered with a chuckle. “You should have monitored this shipment from the start. Otherwise, this is what would hav
“Enjoy your breakfast, Miss Miya,” said one of the waiters as he served the grilled fish fillet that smelled so delicious. The salad and mashed potatoes looked appetizing. Not to mention the watermelon juice that accompanied the meal.“Thank you.” Miya smiled slightly. A moment after the waiter left them, Miya frowned again. “Why are you still here?”Victor sitting across from her sipped his coffee casually, as if not hearing Miya's irritated tone. “I like the quiet atmosphere at breakfast. Unfortunately with you here, it's hard to achieve.”If throwing one of the spoons at Victor was considered polite, Miya would have done it earlier. Yet the area where they were enjoying this late breakfast was so relaxing. The table set up was not far from the edge of the lake, not far from the main tent where Miya should have slept last night. Unfortunately, that didn't happen to the blonde-haired girl because she spent the night with Damian elsewhere.Remembering that made Miya blush. She looked
“Hurry up!” said Victor who was already sitting in the driver's seat of his metallic blue car. Miya was still frowning at his strange appearance. What Victor said was too much but Desi agreed with him.A bodyguard swiftly opened the door for Miya. “Thank you,” said Miya who immediately sat down and put on the seat belt. The bodyguard just nodded slowly and quickly entered another car to accompany Victor's car. Desi was also in the car. The car sped off towards one of Damian's shopping centers. Victor only said they could get out in four hours, but Miya didn't care. Most importantly, today she can feel the free air.As soon as they arrived, the mall staff immediately opened private shopping access for them. Miya gaped at the sight.“All this for us?” she asked with a look of awe and disbelief.Victor nodded casually. “You can take whatever you want. But remember, not too much.”Miya smiled widely, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Don't worry. I intend to spend your money in this pla
The transport truck that was forcibly stopped by Damian's men was already on its way to Catterpillar. Marcus took full responsibility for the delivery of the goods that should have been done by Leonard. This time Damian would not leave it to anyone but Marcus. After all, he was also the one responsible for the running of Catterpillar. So it was fine to add to Marcus' work for this one thing.“Are you crazy?!” cursed Marcus once he knew what Damian wanted. “Damian, come on, you can't do this to me. I might not have a date with someone?” Marcus ruffled his silver-black hair in frustration. Meanwhile, Damian just shrugged his shoulders.“If you insist on me supervising, my share of the total dream pill sales is 5%! I don't want to know and I don't want you to refuse!” Marcus threatened in a serious tone. His amber-gold eyes seemed to glitter between anger and annoyance and seized the opportunity. When else could he pressure Damian on this?“Everything related to the loading, unloading, s
“Let me know when we arrive.” Richard once again gently rubbed Arini's head. Arini was a spoiled cat who couldn't be let go easily. Even though his return this time was to prepare for what Richard told the girl's parents. Why doesn't Richard just go home together? There is a meeting that cannot be left tomorrow at one o'clock in the afternoon. If left behind or handed over to Wahyudin, his credibility as the owner of the business he started years ago could be questioned. Fortunately, Arini understood what he was explaining. It was also not only Arini that Richard told. Rusdi too. Don't let the middle-aged man who was soon to become his father-in-law think it was just talk.“Yes, dear.” Arini chuckled. She immediately grabbed Susi's hand to quickly dart away. It's nothing, rather than being detained too long by Richard, she might not go home. She had prepared all the necessary documents. Only later if there is a procedure that is a bit confusing, maybe it can be postponed for a moment.
The next morning, it was clear that Mrs. Kasih was excited about the whole village. Just about yesterday's proposal, Kasih was asked a lot about this and that because everything was so sudden. Usually if there is a proposal event, especially this in the village, almost most of the guests who come in droves from anywhere. he said also wanted to see, what kind of man proposed to the girl in the village.Also... usually, it's interspersed with gossip. Indeed, that's how it ends.Just like when Kasih, who had been busy all morning, started doing this and that even though Arini said to wait for the WO to come so it would be easier to organize. But the name is a mother and will welcome the arrival of moment to release her daughter to someone, there will be nothing simple that can be done. Everything needs to be perfect.“Is it true that Arini wants to get married next week? How sudden?” said one of the neighbors. If I remember correctly, Arini's name is Mrs. Parmin. Every morning, she sold
That night, Leonard stood in an empty building on the outskirts of the city, his face full of confidence. In his hand, there was a cell phone displaying important messages for his men. The plan to harm Miya was almost complete. He would not let Damian win.“Make sure Miya doesn't get out of the mansion. If necessary, make a big enough ruckus so Victor and Marcus can't focus on protecting her,” Leonard ordered over the cell phone. However, unbeknownst to him, one of Marcus' men had infiltrated his communication network. The messages were relayed directly to Marcus. At Damian's mansion, Marcus read the report seriously. “Leonard's on the move again,” he told Victor, who immediately stood up.“We have to act fast. I won't let him touch Miya,” Victor replied in a firm tone.A car was speeding through the streets of Northderm. Leonard tried to escape after realizing that his plan had been leaked. However, behind him, Marcus' team was ready to give chase.“Don't let him get away!” exclaimed
Damian sat quietly in the small interrogation room, staring at Tedy who was tied to the chair in front of him. In the corner of the room, Harold stood restlessly, going through a pile of documents and notes.“He won't talk,” Harold muttered, breaking the silence.Damian raised one eyebrow, his expression cold. “Everyone has a soft spot. If he doesn't talk now, I'll make sure he regrets his silence.”Tedy looked up, his face scarred but his smile mocking. “You think I'm afraid of you, Damian? I've survived this far. You won't get anything out of me.”Damian leaned closer, his voice low but threatening. “I don't need your confession, Tedy. I just want to make sure that you have no way out. Harold, prepare the documents for the court martial. I want him processed as soon as possible.”Harold looked at Damian skeptically. “Court martial? Damian, this will attract great attention. Are you sure this is the right move?”Damian nodded firmly. “Leonard can't communicate with Tedy anymore. It's
Damian stepped into the room with a cold stare. The place was dark, lit only by a few low-hanging chandeliers, creating long shadows on the walls. Harold, the police chief who was Damian's partner, was already waiting there with some of his men. In the corner of the room, Tedy, Leonard's assistant, sat tied to a chair. His face was bruised, but his gaze remained defiant.“What did you find here?” Damian asked Harold matter-of-factly.Harold let out a long breath. “Not much. We only found traces of a small fight. Some of our guards were attacked in a very organized way. Leonard escaped with the help of someone who knows the ins and outs of this place very well.”Damian turned to Tedy. “This guy,” he said, pointing at the bound man. “He must know something. He was Leonard's right-hand man for years.”Marcus, who was standing next to Damian, approached with a tense face. “Let me do the talking first,” he said. Marcus approached Tedy and looked at him intensely. “Tell me where Leonard is
Rebecca sat in her office with a sharp gaze. In front of her, a man in a neat suit but looking nervous stood up while handing over a thick file. The man, one of Rebecca's confidants, sighed before speaking.“Mrs. Rebecca, this is all the information we managed to gather about the woman living in Mr. Damian's mansion,” he said in a careful tone.Rebecca opened the file and began to read carefully. Inside were photos of Miya walking in the garden with Hera and Kayoko, Miya looking happy while holding her growing belly, even some medical reports from the doctor who handled her pregnancy. Rebecca's face turned red, her eyes widened in anger.“Pregnancy? So this is the reason he's so protective of that woman?” her voice raised, making the man in front of her look down even deeper.“Yes, ma'am. That woman is pregnant. The doctor is Dr. Hana from the specialty clinic downtown,” the man replied in an almost whispered tone.Rebecca slammed the file onto the table. “Damian never told me anythin
Miya sat on the living room sofa with a worried face. The atmosphere of the mansion had been different since morning. The extra guards Damian had brought in were pacing back and forth with serious looks on their faces. Miya looked at the cup of tea in her hand, not really in the mood to drink it. Kayoko sat beside her, trying to break the ice with funny stories, but Miya's concern was still evident.“Miya, you're thinking too much,” Kayoko said as she thrust a piece of cake at Miya. “Try eating this. If you continue like that, Damian will definitely worry.”Miya let out a long breath. “I just feel like something's not right. All this... the extra security, Damian being more protective than usual, makes me wonder.”Desi, Miya's personal assistant, who was sitting not far from them, finally spoke up. “Mrs. Miya, there's actually something that Mr. Damian is furious about. Someone he was keeping an eye on... escaped from his watch. That's why he's tightened the security in this mansion.
That morning, the atmosphere at the Sawyer mansion was different. Damian was seen talking to some well-built men who had just arrived in the courtyard. Miya watched from the living room window, sensing something unusual. Kayoko, who was sitting next to her enjoying her morning tea, also glanced out.“What is Damian doing?” Miya asked quietly, more to herself.Kayoko turned her head and smiled slightly. “Maybe he just wants to make sure everything is safe. You know how Damian is.”Miya nodded, but curiosity got the better of her. She decided to wait until Damian came in to ask him directly. Not long after, Damian appeared in the living room. His face looked tense, but he tried to hide it with a small smile when he saw Miya.“What's going on, Damian?” she asked directly.Damian came over and sat next to her. He grasped Miya's hand gently. “Just a precaution. There's nothing for you to worry about.”Miya looked at him skeptically. “But why the extra security? Does this have anything to d
On the way home from the hospital, Miya looked out the window with a faint smile on her face. Damian, who was driving, gave her a quick glance. He knew it had been a long day for Miya, but that smile gave him peace of mind.“Damian,” Miya called in a soft voice.“Yes?” replied Damian, staying focused on the road ahead.“I want to eat ice cream,” Miya said suddenly.Damian looked over briefly with a raised eyebrow. “Ice cream? Now?”Miya nodded. “Yes. I feel like I need something sweet.”Damian gave a small smile. “Alright. But I don't want any interruptions. Just a moment.” He took out his cell phone and dialed someone's number through the car speaker. Soon, a man's voice answered on the other side.“Yes, Mr. Sawyer?”“I need you to arrange for the ice cream parlor downtown to be temporarily empty. I'll take my wife there in 20 minutes.”“Of course, sir. I'll take care of it right away.”Miya looked at Damian with her mouth slightly open. “You... booked a whole tavern just for us?”Da
The lunch was awkward at first. The long table on the terrace of Damian's house was adorned with delicious dishes that seemed unable to overcome the stiffness between them. Miya sat next to Damian, feeling nervous about the sight of Kayoko, Damian's sister whom she was meeting for the first time. Meanwhile, Victor sat at the other end of the table, looking relaxed with his thin smile that always managed to break the ice.Kayoko watched Miya intently, trying to guess the girl's character. On the other hand, Miya felt intimidated by Kayoko's presence who looked so confident and charismatic. “So, Miya,” Kayoko started the conversation in a casual tone, ”how does it feel to live in such a big house?”Miya was surprised for a moment, then smiled nervously. “Hmm, it's a little hard to get used to, really. But Damian is very helpful.” She glanced at Damian, who just nodded without saying much.Victor chuckled. “You should know already, Kayoko. Damian isn't good at showing his softer side. Bu
Kayoko pulled his suitcase with a feeling of exasperation. How could her brother break a promise that had already been made? Even more annoying than just breaking a promise was asking Victor Wyatt to pick her up! What crazy thing would Damian make Victor do?It wasn't that Kayoko hated him, but Victor was the last person she wanted to see. Victor could always get Kayoko annoyed and irritated and end up grumpy all day long because of his antics. He is annoying and very talented at making other people suddenly lose their minds because of his behavior. When she returned from Germany, Kayoko wanted to do something fun with Damian. It's been a long time since she spent time with her dear brother but what did she get? Ugh!“Miss Sawyer!”Kayoko who was grumbling and walking while stomping, turned her head towards the voice that called her. Damn it, Victor was there. Waving with a red handkerchief and writing in very clear capital letters. 'You're home too, Kayoko!Damn this Victor Wyatt guy
