"Miss," Desi calls as she brings Miya a change of clothes. Tonight, she picked a soft dress with a soft blue mini flower print. "Dinner is set on the dining table, and Mr. Sawyer is waiting there.
"Okay." Miya couldn't very well ignore this. Signing the contract with Damian meant she had to stick to what it said. At least the guy was as cold as the North Pole, but he was true to his word and helped her through a difficult time. The news of her getting into trouble with Veronica Lodge had completely disappeared. There was no mention of it whatsoever. Even the news that had made the rounds on several well-known gossip sites was no longer there. The comments section that Miya had filled also disappeared.
So, what could Miya do but follow Damian Sawyer's instructions? The man had the power to silence others.
Not long after, Miya was ready to head to the dining room, which was down the hall from her room. While she was staying in the mansion, Miya's room was on the left side of the building. The facilities Miya received were impressive, to say the least. But then, she shouldn't have been surprised. Damian Sawyer was a young businessman who should be mentioned here. Damian was involved in a lot of big projects. Even so,
"Do businessmen have to resort to violence too?" Miya asked quietly. She was already on her way with Desi, who was never far from her side.
"Did you say something?"
"Oh, no!" Miya let out a little laugh. She felt a bit foolish about what she had just said. If Desi had overheard, it could have caused problems for her. Desi was someone Damian trusted, right? Maybe Damian thought Miya was being too eager to help with his injuries today. Oh, goodness! The only thing that got Miya involved was the deal about her getting pregnant and giving birth to a child for Damian, and him returning all the family assets that were seized by the bailiffs.
That's all there is to it.
That's correct. If Miya just got what she wanted, she'd be free. She'd be released from the businessman who, if you looked at him closely, looked scary. He could look at Miya with eyes that could cut her down in one glance.
One thing Miya still has to do is thank Damian. After cleaning and temporarily closing Damian's wound this afternoon, Miya immediately asked Desi to call Damian's personal doctor. It was clear that the man was in pain from the size of the wound. Miya realized that Desi had a lot of questions about Damian's condition, but she decided to keep quiet.
Maybe this dinner was Miya's chance to thank Damian for making her request so easy. Who knows what will happen when Miya is done with this contract? It's supposed to be a free year, but there's still bad press about her. It was still related to something from the past that bothered her.
"You're five minutes late, Miya."
Miya winced in surprise at the voice. Until Miya felt like she couldn't go any further than what she was doing now. Her eyes immediately landed on a figure that she found quite intimidating. He was sitting on one of the sofas, one leg bent and the other crossed over his knee, tapping lightly on the arm of the sofa with his fingers while he hawk-like gaze locked onto Miya.
"My apologies." That was all Miya could say, but she felt like she was stuck to the floor. The tension in the room made it difficult for Miya to breathe. The blonde-haired girl didn't notice there were other people there until then.
One of them... "Well, well, well. Miya, it's so good to see you again." Victor Wyatt let out a chuckle. "You make her look like a helpless statue, Damian." Victor stood up from his seat with that same annoying laugh. He picked up the coat that was hanging on a hook in the corner of the room. "Well, there's nothing more to discuss. Marcus, you can't stay here too long. You might get asked to leave by the mansion owner."
Marcus Whitley, frowned in surprise and then asked without feeling any guilt. "Is my presence bothering you, Damian?"
Damian clenched his jaw. "Are you planning to go back to Catterpilar Club? You have a lot on your plate, don't you?"
Marcus blinked a few times and gave a little grin. "Hey-hey-hey, did you really kick me out over this girl?" He followed Victor's example. "You're too much. I still have something to discuss with you, Damian."
"Never mind," Victor quickly made his way over to Marcus. "Let's get this over with without Damian getting involved. If Damian hadn't interrupted and given directions, we'd have been able to solve the problem sooner."
Damian's forehead wrinkled in irritation. The relaxed attitude and sharp gaze that had been on display for a while now disappeared. Damian immediately walked up to his two colleagues and gave them a firm slap on the back. “If it wasn't for you guys, I wouldn't have gotten hurt like this. Idiots!”
Even though Victor and Marcus were in pain, the two men who got hit by Damian laughed. They didn't want to linger, so they quickly made their exit. But before they completely disappeared behind the corridor to the vestibule, Victor said, "There'll be a shipment of textbooks for you, Miya Ashton, tomorrow. Just because you're here doesn't mean you can slack off. Just a heads-up: This is your last year as a student."
Miya, who hadn't moved from her spot, suddenly scowled and clucked. "Well, Mr. Victor, for reminding me of my current status for a moment."
Victor's laughter grew louder.
"Let's get dinner on the table. It's already too late to eat tonight."
Desi quickly nodded and the staff got to work, following the mansion owner's instructions. Damian wasn't one to wait around, especially after already wasting five minutes. He just had to wait for the girl who was still standing there, not intending to approach him.
"What are you waiting for, Miya?"
Miya looked up. She was quite tall—around 170 cm—but when faced with a man like Damian, Miya felt like a dwarf. Damian's height made Miya's neck muscles tighten slightly. "I'm waiting for you...maybe?"
"Tck!" Damian walked right past Miya. "Those are words you should have heard from me, Miya. I'm willing to forgive tonight, but if you keep me waiting at dinner, I'll have to take action."
"First, think about your injury. Then, think about my punishment. "The doctor also said you need to take a week off to let your body recover." She followed Damian's example and sat in the chair provided where the dining table was now filled with a variety of appetizing dishes.
"You really took the doctor's advice, didn't you?" Damian looked at Miya, but he didn't want to look away. He found himself wanting to stare at the girl sitting next to him for a while longer. Her blonde hair was in a high ponytail, showing off her flawless white neck. Her hair was a little distracting, but it added to her beauty. Miya's eyes were a captivating golden brown. She's confident and often provocative, and she never hesitates to stare down her opponent. What Damian remembers most is how hard she is to subdue.
"I just want you to remember that clearly," Miya said with a slight glance, while silently hoping that the look wouldn't backfire.
"In that case," Damian was suddenly eager to get the girl to make more noise. "Serve me at dinner."
That remark caught Miya's attention. She noticed the servants standing not far from the dining table. They were all ready to help if needed. But it was Damian's words that made them look away, as if they'd heard something they shouldn't have. They even exchanged glances with each other, as if they were giving a code for them to get out of the dining room right away.
"What do I need to serve?" Miya asked as she took her share of the glass. She took a slow sip of her drink before picking up the grilled shrimp that were not far from her plate. "The food looks really good, Mr. Sawyer. Can I go ahead and eat first?"
"You don't plan to serve me first?"
Miya gave Damian a look that said she was getting tired of this. Her hunger made it difficult for her to think clearly. She needed to make sure she had enough carbohydrates, protein, and nutrition to survive a man like Damian. She also forgot about the intimidating atmosphere Damian had, which made it feel like a lot of pressure just to argue with him.
"What should I do? Could you please let me know when you'll have it ready? I'm already hungry."
Damian pushed his plate away a little and sat back in his chair. He watched the servants in the room file out one by one. They weren't leaving them completely alone, but they were keeping an eye on things in the dining room.
“Feed me.”
Miya's brow furrowed. "From everything I've heard, the trouble is with your stomach. Doctor Cedric has been able to treat it much better. Is it your hand that's hurting, then?"
"Aren't you the one who said I should rest my body, Miya? So the hand is a limb, right?"
Damn, it! Miya cursed under her breath. Her words were met with a resounding thud.
"Let's go. I'm hungry too."
Obeying Damian Sawyer's orders is in the contract, right?

Once, the call was ignored.
The call still hadn't been answered twice.
The third time, the middle-aged woman let out a chuckle, her annoyance evident. She sat down, feeling annoyed.
"Your tea, Lady Hera." One of the staff members brought her a cup of chamomile tea. She tried to keep her hands from shaking because the middle-aged woman in front of her looked pretty intimidating.
"Any word from Damian yet, Hudson?" Hera asked, sounding a little impatient. She ignored the waiter who had just served her tea. She looked her assistant in the eye, who was standing not far from where she was sitting.
"Not yet ma'am. I also asked Mr. Victor and Mr. Marcus about Mr. Damian's whereabouts.
As you can imagine, it'll be tough to pin down where their boss is."
"Tsk!" Hera gave her temples a good rub to show her annoyance. "If this keeps up, the Sawyer family's decision could come to fruition, Hudson! "It's not just me who's in a tricky spot. If Damian and all his achievements just vanish, it'll be a real shame!"
The woman started to pound on the table, causing the cup of tea to shift and spill a little on the expensive marble-topped table.
"Take me to Hillarious University. I need to speak with Victor. He's Damian's closest associate. There's no way he doesn't know where Damian is right now."
Hudson nodded and got Hera's driver to get a car ready to take them to their destination as quickly as possible.
"I'm not going to stop until I find out where Damian is." Hera, who was walking in front of Hudson, looked a bit impatient with his quick pace. "Leonard is too much! I had no idea that man could be so greedy."
Leonard Sawyer was Damian's uncle. Hera and Leonard didn't see eye to eye when it came to family matters. Leonard was the son of their father's second wife, Ricardo Sawyer. Leonard shouldn't have put so much pressure on Damian, especially when it came to bloodlines.
"How can the Sawyer group be led by someone who can't have kids? Are you serious? I'm more qualified than Damian, so why did you appoint him instead? Damian is just your grandson, while I'm your son!"
Hera hadn't forgotten what Leonard said two years ago. On top of that, Damian hadn't yet had a child, and his son's wife was in a bad way, so it wasn't going to be easy to have a child right away.
"Oh, come on!" Hera was pretty mad at Leonard for suggesting that Sawyer's offspring could be a good idea. Damian was giving the impression that the man was avoiding the problems that were pressing down on him from all directions.
"I'm sure Mr. Damian is doing just fine, Lady Hera."
Hudson's words made Hera laugh. "I know my son is healthy and doing well. I'm just wondering when he'll be able to get Leonard to back down and take over Sawyer completely. My father built and established this years ago, and my husband, Hudson, has strengthened it. You know that, don't you? I'm not willing to leave what the two of them fought for in the hands of an outsider."
Hera pressed the green icon on her phone screen again. She was hoping that Damian would respond to her brash son's contact.
“Yes, Mom?”
“Insolent boy! Where are you now, huh?!”
"This is for you, Sir Damian." Marcus put a glass of Damian's favorite wine down in front of him. The man's face looked a bit disheveled and more irritating than before."What did you call me?" Damian asked, with a hint of sarcasm and a look that seemed to convey his displeasure."Why is it that when it's my turn to salute you, you seem to dislike it? Do I look like I'm joking when I call you 'sir'?"Damian's laughter grew louder as he finished his glass of wine."Are you really that thirsty?" Marcus asked, looking surprised. The owner, with his black and silvery hair, looked surprised and frowned. "If you need a drink, I can order one from Gio. It wasn't the wine you finished. What's so great about drinking wine in one gulp?""You're so chatty, Marcus."Marcus let out a long sigh. He sat down next to Damian. "You know, I'm trying to think about something other than Kenzo's case. It seems like the police aren't much help, then?""When did we start depending on the police to do their
It's been a week since Miya's life changed completely. In terms of her material needs and the facilities she has access to, Miya believes it's the same as it was when she was living her previous life. That said, there are a few things… Miya admits that what she receives now is far more luxurious. The spacious three-story house is Miya's primary residence. We're not counting the servants because, as Miya sees it, their job is to take care of the house and make sure she gets what she needs. To be more precise, they were there to watch over and guard Miya. Just in case the girl ran away. But Miya would have to think long and hard if the intention and opportunity were there.Damian Sawyer wasn't one to show mercy to those who disobeyed. The eyes, as dark as night, told Miya without a word. This guy was convincing, making Miya change her mind about running away from the house."No one's waiting for me anyway," Miya said as she took a sip of orange juice. The air was warm enough that even t
"Please." Miya felt a bit dizzy. She had her eyes closed. Her hands were clenched so tightly that she could feel her nails scraping her palms. It was so overwhelming that she began to lose control of her body. "Sir, please stop." She tried to speak while holding back her racing heart. But Damian wasn't listening. He kept going, sliding the tip of his tongue into her increasingly wet opening. His two big hands held Miya's thighs apart. He gave Miya's shapely rear end a little nudge, just above the edge of the pool."Mr. Sawyer," Miya felt a stirring that made it increasingly difficult for her to breathe normally. She wasn't thinking about what they were doing outside anymore. It was obvious, right? But... Miya had to stop Damian in his tracks. Just for a moment, though."Sir." Miya was breathing heavily, and her face was flushed. One of her hands was pulling rather firmly on Damian's dark curls. She lifted the other hand to look at Damian's face. It was tough, bu
Miya groaned. Her whole body hurt, especially her groin. Her back was also a bit sore, it felt as if she couldn't move her body too much. Her eyes blinked slowly, trying to find her consciousness so that Miya could know where she was.The room, dominated by gray and white, looked unfamiliar. The large bed, which was already out of shape, was also unfamiliar to Miya. Although she had only been living in Damian's mansion for a week, Miya had begun to memorize every side of her room. It began to be dominated by colors that were much more vivid than before. But this time, her eyes could only find parts of the room that were very unfamiliar. She didn't recognize anything except... a black suit hanging neatly near the dressing table."Whose room is this?" she asked as she tried to get up. "Ugh!" She held her shoulder. It had been a long time since her left shoulder had hurt, but this time the pain started again. Miya's memory began to replay the events she had experie
"Is Damian not coming to the banquet tonight?" the man asked, his eyes cold, but his hands skillfully slicing the Wagyu beef to the degree of doneness he wanted. He was chewing with gusto, as if he was really enjoying tonight's banquet."He's definitely coming," the woman sitting in front of him said. She was enjoying the dinner spread out in front of her, just like the man. To be more precise, she was trying to enjoy the meal because she often caught sight of Hudson, her assistant, out of the corner of her eye. Just to make sure Damian keeps his word. The elegant dark-haired woman, who was calmly enjoying her meal, was sitting at her side. She wasn't bothered by anything, including the chatter that seemed to put pressure on each other. After all, the woman was at the banquet as part of the family, not the main attraction who was waiting for her in the room. She was hoping he'd come and sit with her for a moment. All Rebecca needed was to see his face."Do you know where your husband
Damian decided to open the window in the room that looks out onto the balcony. He opened the window to let the night breeze into his room, which is decorated in soft cream colours. The owner of this room is looking for someone with a warm personality. Unfortunately, that wasn't Damian Sawyer.Once again, the night breeze messed up Damian's rather curly and thick hair. The view in front of him was just a line of tall trees and an artificial lake that reflected the moonlight. It was peaceful, but not exactly what Damian needed. His thoughts were already racing. His hands clenched on the balcony railing, and his jaw tightened. Leonard Sawyer was still on Damian's mind. If it weren't for the position Leonard holds, there's no doubt he'd be in Damian's court. The middle-aged man had done a lot of things that had caused a lot of harm to Damian's company. No, it wasn't. It wasn't entirely Damian's until the time came—about two years away. The time will come when Damian also must introduce th
It was very cold tonight, but Miya didn't want to move from where she was. Her body already felt better, even if she still felt a little sore in some places. Wearing a t-shirt with a high collar was the least Miya could do to cover the reddish marks Damian had left on her body."You don't want to sleep yet, Miss Miya?" asked Desi, who had brought a thick wool blanket to ward off the cold."Not yet." Miya smiled slightly and thanked Desi for the blanket she had brought for her. "It's so peaceful sitting here, Desi. I love the view from up here."Desi nodded as she helped Miya put the blanket on. "This is Mr. Damian's favorite place when he comes home. He rarely comes home unless to rest.""I see." Miya didn't really care for this information, but... "If this is Damian's resting place, then there's still his main house?"Desi nodded. "Mr. Damian's family lives in the Metropolis area. West of downtown, but most of the area is owned by the Sawyer famil
"I asked the head chef to prepare your favorite breakfast, Damian," Rebecca said with a smile as he arrived. The man just stared straight ahead with no expression at all, including to the dishes that were already served."Hudson," Damian called to his mother's assistant, who was always close by. Sometimes Damian had to be patient with Hera Sawyer's demanding ways."Yes, sir." Hudson soon came over. He handed the perfectly pressed black blazer to its owner. "Your car is all ready to go, but I think it would be best if you went first. I'm sure Mrs. Hera is looking forward to this rare opportunity."Damian shot Hudson a sardonic look, which was met with a submissive gaze from the mother's assistant."Darling," Rebecca called out again. She knew her husband had ignored her, but she wasn't going to give up. When was the last time Damian was going to be back at the house? She decided not to miss this chance to spend a little more time with Damian."What
That night, Leonard stood in an empty building on the outskirts of the city, his face full of confidence. In his hand, there was a cell phone displaying important messages for his men. The plan to harm Miya was almost complete. He would not let Damian win.“Make sure Miya doesn't get out of the mansion. If necessary, make a big enough ruckus so Victor and Marcus can't focus on protecting her,” Leonard ordered over the cell phone. However, unbeknownst to him, one of Marcus' men had infiltrated his communication network. The messages were relayed directly to Marcus. At Damian's mansion, Marcus read the report seriously. “Leonard's on the move again,” he told Victor, who immediately stood up.“We have to act fast. I won't let him touch Miya,” Victor replied in a firm tone.A car was speeding through the streets of Northderm. Leonard tried to escape after realizing that his plan had been leaked. However, behind him, Marcus' team was ready to give chase.“Don't let him get away!” exclaimed
Damian sat quietly in the small interrogation room, staring at Tedy who was tied to the chair in front of him. In the corner of the room, Harold stood restlessly, going through a pile of documents and notes.“He won't talk,” Harold muttered, breaking the silence.Damian raised one eyebrow, his expression cold. “Everyone has a soft spot. If he doesn't talk now, I'll make sure he regrets his silence.”Tedy looked up, his face scarred but his smile mocking. “You think I'm afraid of you, Damian? I've survived this far. You won't get anything out of me.”Damian leaned closer, his voice low but threatening. “I don't need your confession, Tedy. I just want to make sure that you have no way out. Harold, prepare the documents for the court martial. I want him processed as soon as possible.”Harold looked at Damian skeptically. “Court martial? Damian, this will attract great attention. Are you sure this is the right move?”Damian nodded firmly. “Leonard can't communicate with Tedy anymore. It's
Damian stepped into the room with a cold stare. The place was dark, lit only by a few low-hanging chandeliers, creating long shadows on the walls. Harold, the police chief who was Damian's partner, was already waiting there with some of his men. In the corner of the room, Tedy, Leonard's assistant, sat tied to a chair. His face was bruised, but his gaze remained defiant.“What did you find here?” Damian asked Harold matter-of-factly.Harold let out a long breath. “Not much. We only found traces of a small fight. Some of our guards were attacked in a very organized way. Leonard escaped with the help of someone who knows the ins and outs of this place very well.”Damian turned to Tedy. “This guy,” he said, pointing at the bound man. “He must know something. He was Leonard's right-hand man for years.”Marcus, who was standing next to Damian, approached with a tense face. “Let me do the talking first,” he said. Marcus approached Tedy and looked at him intensely. “Tell me where Leonard is
Rebecca sat in her office with a sharp gaze. In front of her, a man in a neat suit but looking nervous stood up while handing over a thick file. The man, one of Rebecca's confidants, sighed before speaking.“Mrs. Rebecca, this is all the information we managed to gather about the woman living in Mr. Damian's mansion,” he said in a careful tone.Rebecca opened the file and began to read carefully. Inside were photos of Miya walking in the garden with Hera and Kayoko, Miya looking happy while holding her growing belly, even some medical reports from the doctor who handled her pregnancy. Rebecca's face turned red, her eyes widened in anger.“Pregnancy? So this is the reason he's so protective of that woman?” her voice raised, making the man in front of her look down even deeper.“Yes, ma'am. That woman is pregnant. The doctor is Dr. Hana from the specialty clinic downtown,” the man replied in an almost whispered tone.Rebecca slammed the file onto the table. “Damian never told me anythin
Miya sat on the living room sofa with a worried face. The atmosphere of the mansion had been different since morning. The extra guards Damian had brought in were pacing back and forth with serious looks on their faces. Miya looked at the cup of tea in her hand, not really in the mood to drink it. Kayoko sat beside her, trying to break the ice with funny stories, but Miya's concern was still evident.“Miya, you're thinking too much,” Kayoko said as she thrust a piece of cake at Miya. “Try eating this. If you continue like that, Damian will definitely worry.”Miya let out a long breath. “I just feel like something's not right. All this... the extra security, Damian being more protective than usual, makes me wonder.”Desi, Miya's personal assistant, who was sitting not far from them, finally spoke up. “Mrs. Miya, there's actually something that Mr. Damian is furious about. Someone he was keeping an eye on... escaped from his watch. That's why he's tightened the security in this mansion.
That morning, the atmosphere at the Sawyer mansion was different. Damian was seen talking to some well-built men who had just arrived in the courtyard. Miya watched from the living room window, sensing something unusual. Kayoko, who was sitting next to her enjoying her morning tea, also glanced out.“What is Damian doing?” Miya asked quietly, more to herself.Kayoko turned her head and smiled slightly. “Maybe he just wants to make sure everything is safe. You know how Damian is.”Miya nodded, but curiosity got the better of her. She decided to wait until Damian came in to ask him directly. Not long after, Damian appeared in the living room. His face looked tense, but he tried to hide it with a small smile when he saw Miya.“What's going on, Damian?” she asked directly.Damian came over and sat next to her. He grasped Miya's hand gently. “Just a precaution. There's nothing for you to worry about.”Miya looked at him skeptically. “But why the extra security? Does this have anything to d
On the way home from the hospital, Miya looked out the window with a faint smile on her face. Damian, who was driving, gave her a quick glance. He knew it had been a long day for Miya, but that smile gave him peace of mind.“Damian,” Miya called in a soft voice.“Yes?” replied Damian, staying focused on the road ahead.“I want to eat ice cream,” Miya said suddenly.Damian looked over briefly with a raised eyebrow. “Ice cream? Now?”Miya nodded. “Yes. I feel like I need something sweet.”Damian gave a small smile. “Alright. But I don't want any interruptions. Just a moment.” He took out his cell phone and dialed someone's number through the car speaker. Soon, a man's voice answered on the other side.“Yes, Mr. Sawyer?”“I need you to arrange for the ice cream parlor downtown to be temporarily empty. I'll take my wife there in 20 minutes.”“Of course, sir. I'll take care of it right away.”Miya looked at Damian with her mouth slightly open. “You... booked a whole tavern just for us?”Da
The lunch was awkward at first. The long table on the terrace of Damian's house was adorned with delicious dishes that seemed unable to overcome the stiffness between them. Miya sat next to Damian, feeling nervous about the sight of Kayoko, Damian's sister whom she was meeting for the first time. Meanwhile, Victor sat at the other end of the table, looking relaxed with his thin smile that always managed to break the ice.Kayoko watched Miya intently, trying to guess the girl's character. On the other hand, Miya felt intimidated by Kayoko's presence who looked so confident and charismatic. “So, Miya,” Kayoko started the conversation in a casual tone, ”how does it feel to live in such a big house?”Miya was surprised for a moment, then smiled nervously. “Hmm, it's a little hard to get used to, really. But Damian is very helpful.” She glanced at Damian, who just nodded without saying much.Victor chuckled. “You should know already, Kayoko. Damian isn't good at showing his softer side. Bu
Kayoko pulled his suitcase with a feeling of exasperation. How could her brother break a promise that had already been made? Even more annoying than just breaking a promise was asking Victor Wyatt to pick her up! What crazy thing would Damian make Victor do?It wasn't that Kayoko hated him, but Victor was the last person she wanted to see. Victor could always get Kayoko annoyed and irritated and end up grumpy all day long because of his antics. He is annoying and very talented at making other people suddenly lose their minds because of his behavior. When she returned from Germany, Kayoko wanted to do something fun with Damian. It's been a long time since she spent time with her dear brother but what did she get? Ugh!“Miss Sawyer!”Kayoko who was grumbling and walking while stomping, turned her head towards the voice that called her. Damn it, Victor was there. Waving with a red handkerchief and writing in very clear capital letters. 'You're home too, Kayoko!Damn this Victor Wyatt guy
