RUBY

Monday morning came, and I was surprised to wake up just as my alarm would’ve rung even though it wasn’t here. I hadn’t brought it with me because it seemed old and cracked.

As I got up and prepared for school, my mind wandered to everything that had happened between Sebastian and me over the past few days since the mating ball. Everything felt so fast, so strange.

Sebastian's presence in my life had changed so much in just a few days. I couldn’t believe how little I thought about Graha

RUBY "You've been lying to everyone since the mating ball." Another student shouted.“Tell us, Ruby. How much did Sebastian pay you to fake being his mate?”"I don't know what you're talking about," I stammered, backing away."Don't lie!" a girl screamed, throwing flour directly into my face. I coughed violently as white powder filled the air around me "You and Sebastian didn't have a bond. You didn't have a damn thing.""You an Sebastian have been faking the whole thing so you could claw your way into a position you don't deserve.""A filthy omega pretending to be Luna—"Each word was a knife. Each word cut deeper than the last.Tears burned in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction.“You should be locked up!”"You deceived the pack," a boy spat. "Do you know the consequences for that? Do you know what the Alpha Council does to people who lie about mating bonds?""Sebastian was in on it too," someone else pointed out. "She didn't do it alone.

RUBY The alarm went off long before I was ready to open my eyes. Its sharp, persistent beeping cut through the warm haze of sleep, dragging me up from the heavy, blissful exhaustion of last night. I groaned softly and turned toward Sebastian out of habit, reaching for him before I even fully woke.My hand landed on empty sheets.I blinked, frowning. The space beside me was cold, but his scent was everywhere. Rich, warm, deep in the pillows and tangled in the sheets and lingering against my skin like he’d only just left. He must have gone back to his own room.My cheeks heated almost immediately, the memory of last night rushing back so fast it made my breath catch. Sebastian’s hands. His mouth. His voice in my ear. The way he’d held me like I mattered more than anything else in the world. The way he’d taken me apart and then put me back together again with kisses and promises. My cheeks burned so hard I buried my face deeper into the pillow with a quiet embarrassed sound.“Ruby, sto

RUBY He dipped his head and captured my bottom lip between his teeth, sucking gently at first, then harder, as if he needed to taste that I was really here—alive and safe. I melted against him, hands sliding up the slick, hard planes of his chest, feeling his heart hammering beneath my palms.Pleasure sparked low in my belly. When he pulled me closer, I felt him—thick, hard, and hot—pressing insistently against my stomach. A fresh rush of wetness coated my thighs. He broke the kiss just enough to rest his forehead against mine, breathing ragged.“I missed you,” he growled.I blinked up at him, dazed. “Seb… I’m right here.”A low, dark laugh rumbled in his chest. He dipped his head, lips brushing the shell of my ear. “Not like that, sunshine. I missed being buried inside you. Missed hearing you moan my name like it’s the only word you know.”Heat flooded my face. My core clenched hard at his filthy words, empty and throbbing with need.“Sebastian, we—” I started, my voice breathless.

RUBY Robert came crashing through the woods with a team of pack warriors, Sebastian's father had sent them out to search for Warren the moment Robert told him what happened. But Warren was gone. They searched the woods, following the trail of blood he'd left behind, but it was like he'd vanished into thin air. Sebastian said he was badly injured, that he might not survive without help, but somehow, Warren had managed to disappear.I didn't care.As long as he was gone, as long as he couldn't hurt me anymore, I didn't care where he went.Robert walked over to us, his expression tight with concern. "You guys okay?""We're fine," Sebastian said, still holding me tight. “Thanks, man. I owe you.” Robert’s eyes flicked to me, then back to Sebastian. “You don’t owe me shit.” He pulled his phone from his pocket and glanced at the screen. “Cassie’s been texting me nonstop. She’s losing her mind. I should call her real quick and let her know you’re safe” I blinked, surprised. Cassie texti

SEBASTIANI tore through the woods like a demon unleashed, my wolf's paws pounding against the earth so hard the ground seemed to tremble beneath me. Trees blurred past in streaks of shadow and moonlight. My breath came in harsh, ragged bursts, steam rising from my muzzle in the cold night air.Every muscle in my body burned with the singular need to find her.To save her.To rip Warren apart. If he touches her... If he hurts her—'He won't,' my wolf cut in, though the fear clawing at my chest said otherwise.'We'll get to her in time.'Through the mind link, I could feel Ruby—faint, like a candle flickering in the distance, but there. Her fear pulsed through the bond, sharp and raw, mixing with my own rage until I couldn't tell where hers ended and mine began.'I'm coming,' I told her again, pushing the words through the connection with everything I had. 'Hold on, sunshine. I'm almost there.'I could feel her trying to respond, her thoughts brushing against mine, but they were muffle

RUBY 'Ruby.' Sebastian's voice echoed through my mind, distant but urgent, pulling me from the darkness. 'Ruby, answer me. Please.' I tried to respond, tried to push my thoughts toward him, but something held me back. It was like trying to shout underwater—my voice caught, muffled, trapped somewhere deep inside me where I couldn't reach it. 'Ruby!' His voice was desperate now, breaking at the edges, and I wanted so badly to answer him, to tell him I was okay, that I was— Where was I? Something brushed against my thigh. My eyes snapped open. The world came into focus slowly, hazily—dim light, the hum of an engine, leather seats beneath me. And a hand. A hand on my leg, fingers trailing upward, parting my thighs. I jerked awake fully, adrenaline slamming into me like a freight train. Warren sat beside me in the backseat, his face too close, his hand still on my leg. I shoved him away hard, scrambling toward the door, pressing myself against it as far as I could get from hi

SEBASTIAN As soon as I stepped into the house, the familiar scent of home wrapped around me, but it did little to ease the tension gripping my chest. RUBY The next morning, I woke up with a pounding headache and a heavy heart. The memories of last night replayed in my head like a broken record. Graham’s voice, so loud and certain, announcing his fated bond with Lizzy. The way everyone in that room pitied me. Then the image that wouldn’t lea
