Brooklyn-
The sound of beeping woke me up, rolling over, I groaned as I tried to hit the snooze on my alarm clock. For the first time since I could remember, I felt comfortable. I didn’t know why the ground felt soft, but at this point, I really didn’t care. Without opening my eyes, I reached in the direction of where I usually kept my alarm clock, but I felt nothing.
Lowering my arm I tried feeling around for the dirt I was so familiar with, but again I felt nothing. What the hell? I opened up my eyes and didn’t recognize the room I was in. Well, I knew it was a hospital room, but I don’t remember ever being in one.
Sitting up, I looked around the room and tried to remember where I was, but I was drawing a blank. The last thing I remembered was agreeing to a deal with Alpha Tatum and sitting in his truck. But how did I end up here? I was sitting on an oversized hospital bed, covered in plain white sheets. Looking down I saw I was in a li
Tatum- With the contract in hand, I waited outside the room Brook was in. I hadn’t expected her to be out as long as she did and I was starting to wonder if she would even wake up at all. It did give me time to get all the details in order with the contract though, I just hoped she didn’t change her mind. Considering I had already spilled the beans to my mother when she pushed about the mate ordeal. A few minutes passed when I finally heard a Brook grant me permission to enter. Clutching the envelope that held the contract, I opened the door. I saw her sitting in the bed, covered by the bland hospital blanket that I always thought seemed itchy. She looked a lot better than she had, but her face was still bruised and slightly swollen. I had thought she would be dressed since Dr. Masters had told me she had left her to get changed, yet she remained in the hospital gown. Shutting the door, I moved to the chair sitting next to the bed and sat down. “How a
Brooklyn- I can’t believe I actually did it. It was now official. I was once again a member of a pack and had agreed to an insane list of rules. Not that I minded the rules, they were nothing compared to the rules I had before. I was just blown away by what kind of rules there were. I mean who in their right mind would agree to a nondisclosure agreement just to sleep with someone? That was one rule I wasn’t going to break, I had no intentions of being with anyone. As far as the benefits package, the only thing that caught my attention was the allowance. It wasn’t that I really cared so much for the money, but with that amount, in a year's term, I could save up to about sixty thousand dollars. That would give me a chance to set up a comfortable life for myself. I know he said he would help me at the end of term, but I didn’t want to just be given a handout. At least with the allowance, I could do something to earn it. After I had signed the contract, he had me
Brooklyn-I stood out in the hall like a statue for nearly an hour after he left. I never caught his name, not that I think he even said what it was. All I knew was if he wanted to make me rethink coming here, he did a damn good job. This was exactly what I had been afraid of.Who ever he was, his words had washed over me like ice water. As long as I stay, I should be fine, or at least I hope. His warning was if I should leave, but the urge to flee was very real and very strong. How far would I even make it if I did leave?Do I stay and risk dealing with him and hope as long as I do stay he leaves me alone? Or do I make a run for it and just pray to the Goddess that his threat was just an empty promise, trying to scare me? Then again, I have been praying to the Moon Goddess my entire life, she has never answered a single prayer. What makes me think she would answer me now?Taking a deep breathe, I pushed away from the rail and made my way to the room he h
Tatum-“So does this mean our agreement is over?” Chasity asked, pulling on her jeans. For the past hour, I had taken my frustrations out on her and thoroughly fucked her. Now I was just bored and wanted her to hurry up and get dressed so I could take a shower. After the other night, I wasn’t about to let her have another chance of falling asleep on my bed while I was cleaning up.“Is it really any of your concern?” I asked curtly.“I think it is. If you have a mate now, then I would assume that you would be using her for your sexual needs instead of me.”“What I do is my business. If I had any intentions of ending our agreement, do you think I would have just spent the last hour or so with you in my bed? She has her room, I have my room. She is a light sleeper apparently and I snore. So she requested her own room.”I saw no other reason to give her further details. It was even stated in
Brooklyn-When I had opened the door, I had not expected to find Alpha Tatum standing on the other side. It looked like he had just stepped out of the shower and gotten dressed. His short black hair was mussy and wet. The smell of strong liquor wafted towards me, and I had to do my best not to gag.It wasn’t that the smell of alcohol bothered me, but it was what it did to those who drank it. In my experience, it was never a good sign when someone drank. I had countless run-ins with Chad over the years when he had drunk himself into a stupor. Not that I had ever done anything to provoke his beatings, but when he drank it was completely different.Oddly I didn’t feel the fear that I was accustomed to when facing this Alpha after he had clearly been drinking. My curiosity as to why he was standing outside my door after midnight was piqued. I wasn’t sure if I should invite him in or not. I saw the way his gaze perused over me, no doubt seeing if my
Tatum-Really regretting asking her about her past right about now. Anger boiled inside me to the point I was ready to go back to that pack and teach them a lesson they would never forget. I knew I was going to regret asking my next question even more, but I needed to know.“What had happened for you to end up like that when I found you?”Those bright blue eyes of her rapidly dimmed at my question. I had just opened a can of worms and I wanted to kick myself. Hearing even the first little bit she had told me, I don’t know why I kept digging deeper. My vocal cords just had a mind of their own and when the questions started coming out, I did nothing to stop them.I was starting to understand her a lot more, even if I hated what she was telling me. The heaviness of her story was weighing down on me and I should have never even considered putting her in this contract. If it had just been she needed a place to stay, it wouldn’t have bee
Brooklyn-For the last three days, I didn’t venture outside of my own private area. No one bothered me and I haven’t seen or heard from Tate since the night I spilled my guts to him. He had given me an opening to tell him about the threat the guy gave me, but I decided it was probably water under the bridge. He had already seemed mad, I wasn’t wanting to add to his anger. These were his people. Besides, it wasn’t like I was hurt or anything. I had been a little surprised and a bit uneasy with his response before he left. It did make me feel a little better that maybe I wouldn’t have to worry so much here. Not that I was ready to just let down my guard any time soon. What caught me off guard the most, was that I had so easily opened up to him. It didn’t make a lick of sense to me. A weight had been lifted off my shoulders from unloading all that I did though. The only other person I had ever talked so openly with had been my da
Tatum-Pacing in the hall, I tried to calm myself. I had seen she was afraid of me, so I left. The more I learn about her, the more pissed I got. She had been not only abused but severely neglected. Being left in the care of a pack that should have protected her, looked out for her, made me question the judgment of who sent her there.I really wanted to get my hands on whoever had put her in Lunar Eclipse and wring their neck. If she hadn’t gotten out of there when she did, or if I hadn’t found her, would she have ended up like Leslie? I had a feeling that is exactly what would have happened.Running up the stairs, I made my way to the gym and went straight towards the punching bag. Needing to release my anger, I started hitting the bag as hard as I could. After punching a hole right in the middle after beating on it for a while, I was still no calmer. Even watching the sand drain from the bag, while it was satisfying, did nothing for me.Turn
