Eric-We made record time returning to the packhouse. Before we entered, Tate grabbed my arm, causing me to come to a stop. He must have grabbed Leilani’s as well because she also stopped.“Before we go in, I want to thank you both for allowing me to come with you. I realize that I have been acting a bit unruly lately. Because of what we just faced, I see that I need to stop moping around and do what I need to do as the Alpha.” Tate spoke.I couldn’t be more proud of my brother than I was at this moment. There had been a bit of hope inside me that would hope he would come out of his funk, but I hadn’t expected this. Then again, the last thing I had anticipated was for Leilani to react as she had either.“I am glad you are finally seeing things more clearly.” I told him as I placed my hand on his shoulder.“You have one amazing mate, brother.” Tate said, his attention drawn to Leilani. “If I hadn’t seen her stand up for herself and find strength within her, I would have never seen the
Leilani-The past four days have been absolute torture. Jarod has been training me for nearly five hours a day. Originally it was only supposed to be for a couple of hours a day, but I didn’t expect three hours to turn into five.Although I guess I had no one to blame but myself. It wasn’t like I couldn’t tap into the powers I have, I just couldn’t use them in the way that he wanted me to. Apparently, I wasn’t a typical witch like the others. Not only was I technically a full werewolf, but I was also tapping into ancient magic. Archer was struggling to find a way to help, who was currently inside the house as we were outside. He was looking for anything that might help.I was just trying to do a basic spell yet everything I did just fizzled out. It was getting frustrating, and I was wondering if I was ever going to get strong enough to go against Mavis. I knew she went by Cordelia now, but I couldn’t stop calling her Mavis. As far as I was concerned, that was her name. She was the one
Leilani-We arrived at this beautiful hotel in Utah the next afternoon. It wasn’t nearly as nice as the packhouse, but it was very elegant. I was hoping to get some time with Eric before the ball, but I have barely seen him since this morning. He had ridden with Tate in a different car, while Brook and I were in another. I woke up to a note written by Eric this morning, saying he had to make a stop on the way. At first, I had been a little disappointed, but I had to admit it was fun spending time with Brook. It would have been nice if she had brought Bailey, but I guess bringing a newborn to an event like this wasn’t ideal. Brook checked into another room, that she would be sharing with Tate, while I took a room just down the hall from her. I had thought I would be sharing a room with Eric, but when I checked in it was only my name on the reservation.I spent a couple of hours checking out the hotel, hoping I would run into Eric, but nothing. I tried to connect with him with our bond,
Leilani-“I do.” I told her, knowing there was no sense in denying it.“You have no idea how relieved I am to hear that. Pretending with you was more of a hassle than I wanted. I could have ended you the first time I saw you, but I thought it would be more interesting to mess with you. Now that you know who I am though, I can’t just walk away. I was hoping to have more time to torment you though.” She sighed as if she were upset about something, yet the look on her face was far from being upset. There was a gleam in her eyes that virtually sparkled with something I couldn’t quite put my finger on. If I could remember the way she ended my life in the past, I would imagine she had found pleasure in it. That was the closest way I could describe the look on her face.“You won’t lay a finger on her.” Eric snarled, taking a more protective stance in front of me.“And what are you going to do about it, my dearest Trevor?” Cordelia spoke.Okay technically it was Mavis, but it was hard to dist
Leilani-We arrived at the packhouse in less time than it took us to get to Utah. This time Eric had been in the car with me, but we hadn’t spoken much. I had used the time to think about everything that had happened.“I told Jarod everything that happened.” Archer said as he came rushing outside to greet us.“Thank you. Where is he right now?” I asked, not stopping as I made my way inside.“Waiting outside Eric’s office.” Archer stated as he kept pace with me.Reaching the office, I don’t know why I was surprised that Tate and Brook had joined us. Tate had said they were in this with me, but I guess it was going to take a bit of time to get used to it. We all got situated in the office, with me standing against the desk, Archer in one of the chairs, Brook and Tate on the couch, and Eric sitting in his desk chair.“I am sorry you all had to face her like that. I have contacted Delilah and she said she was going to stay where she was. According to her Cordelia came back as if nothing h
Eric-Since leaving Leilani, I had tried to get some sleep, but it proved to be pointless. I ended up looking online for a few hours to see if anyone has sent any messages on the program Brook and I set up. After a while, I hadn’t seen anything worth looking into, so I logged off.By then it was about time for the pack to start training, so I thought it was the opportune time to check on our newest member. He had been released from the hospital and set up in one of the apartments to start working on the program. I feel that I have been neglecting his progress with everything going on with Leilani and everything else.Luckily, we haven’t had any issues with the fact Sawyer hadn’t renounced his pack after what happened in California. Brook has been tending to the kid’s needs, so it wasn’t like I just let him figure it out on his own. It was time for me to check in on his progress though.Reaching his apartment, I knocked on the door and waited for him to answer. He was supposed to be jo
Eric-Jarod was ready to go when I returned. He had a dart gun with him, which he explained was to tranquilize anyone that happened upon us. I had thought of someone figuring out what we were doing as well, but I had planned to take it to a completely different level. It would probably be better to knock them out instead of killing anyone though. Mostly because it would hopefully prevent any unnecessary deaths and possible wars if it came out that there was nothing worth pursuing. If Sawyer was telling the truth though, I suspected a war with the pack was possible either way.The sooner we got in and out though, the better. I gave him the location of where we would be going. Then he had to locate it on a map to make sure we would arrive inside the house.Once he was sure that we would arrive where we wanted to, he placed his hand on my shoulder and told me to take a deep breath. In a blink of an eye, the scenery around us changed and we were standing inside an abandoned house. For a m
Eric-Back at the packhouse, we took everything to my office. I decided to wait for now to let Sawyer know, until after I looked through some things. If I had any questions regarding anything I found, I figured it would be pointless to take him away from his studies.“That was cutting it close you know?” Jarod said as he placed the files next to the lockbox that I had just placed on my desk.“Trust me I know.” I sighed.“I have to say, that was both exciting and very stupid at the same time. If I was a werewolf, like my brother, I might have to report you. However, I don’t fall under the same laws that the rest of you do. You will have to tell them what you did though. I am fairly sure there is a law against breaking into someone else’s pack.” Jarod sat in the chair across from where I was sitting in my desk chair.“I will, but first I want to make sure it was worth the effort. It isn’t that we have any laws about it, but I suppose it isn’t without consequences.” I spoke.Pulling the
I wanted to thank you all for your support over these months. I haven't decided if I am going to do another book in the Contract series, but I will be working on other books that I hope you all love. I have another book called Alpha Ryker that I will be focusing on this summer. It will be different than my typical stuff, but I am excited to write it. If you enjoy apocalyptic romance, I hope you will check out Alpha Ryker. Just like all my werewolf romance books, I try to bring a twist to them to make them different from the typical stories. The book has already started, and I will be focusing on that book next. Thank you again for all of your support. I would love to hear what you think of this book, so I may improve my writing. Best wishes, Raelyn Karson
Brooklyn- I couldn’t believe it. It has been five years since that fateful night with Mavis. Nearly six since when I first met my mate, Tate. Looking back on everything that has happened over the years, I couldn’t be more grateful for how far we have all come. When I first came to the Black Fang pack, I never would have imagined that I would be happy, with two daughters, a son on the way, a loving mate, a pack, and a family that I loved with all of my heart. Since the night with Mavis, the program I had created had taken off without a hitch. With Leilani’s help, we were able to track down everyone that needed our help and even find homes for everyone. We had to deal with a few trouble packs, but once again Black Fang banded together to take them on. Now my father was getting ready to step down as the Alpha King and he had named Eric as the new Alpha King. I couldn’t be happier for Eric, since I know he is going to be the best for the job. It helps that he has a kick-ass mate, who m
Leilani-Breaking the hex on the door, I walked in and saw the other half of my soul standing next to the bed. She gave me a soft smile, which looked both sad and knowing. Before I could say anything, she began speaking.“If we do this, there is no going back. If death comes to us, it will be forever. Are you sure you want to do this?” She asked.“You know this is our only chance. Even if we redo the cycle, it still won’t be enough. Spending as much time as I did with the other versions of me, they still didn’t reach their full potential. There is no guarantee that if I come back that I will find a way to defeat her. How long must we continue in this cycle if I need to become complete to defeat her?”I don’t know why I just didn’t agree to this from the start. Was it out of fear or something else? It didn’t really matter now though. I knew now that it was our only real chance of defeating her. Even if I died, I could hopefully bring Mavis down with me.“Very well, then we will live ou
Leilani-In absolute horror, I stood there as Archer moved toward me. I could feel it through our bond that he was going to attack me. It was in that instant I realized why Mavis kept looking over at him.“You need to fight it!” I yelled at Archer, pleading with him.It was foolish of me to think I could take on Mavis with extraordinarily little time to learn centuries of magic. I had played directly into her hand. Now she had somehow managed to take control of Archer. There was no way I could fight him. The last thing I wanted to do was kill him or even hurt him. I could tell he was struggling against the hold she had on him, but I was starting to feel that he was slipping away from me.“Fight!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. He didn’t respond, which I didn’t think he could at this point. I could feel our bond, but it felt wrong, tainted. Just then I felt Eric’s arms come around me and I was lifted off the ground.“You can’t reach him anymore. We need to get out of here.” He said
Leilani-“Are you ready?” I asked Archer, who was now in his dragon form.“I will follow you anywhere.” He spoke into my mind.Knowing I couldn’t push the time anymore, I transported Archer and I through the threshold that divided the two realities. I trusted Jarod to join us when he was ready, he had left to get Delilah and any other help he could. It wasn’t that I wasn’t confident I could take Mavis on now, but we all agreed we needed as much help as possible.“Release them.” I yelled out to Mavis. For the past ten minutes, I have been watching everything play out. It had taken everything I had not to just appear sooner. Just as Eric suggested though, I used every second I could until I could no longer wait.I was on the other side of the group of pack members, opposite the packhouse. I couldn’t let Mavis know what Archer looked like in his human form just in case this went south. Where we were now, it was the only area large enough, that was close to them, that allowed Archer to be
Eric-With everything I possessed, I had to try to keep Desmond at bay. He was ready to come out and rip out Mavis’s throat, for forcing herself on me and kissing me. I had been able to push her off, but she was trying to do it again. If I didn’t know that she would kill us if my wolf attacked her, I probably would have let him out. I didn’t stand a chance against a witch as powerful as Mavis, or any witch for that matter. Unlike Leilani, I wasn’t anything special like that.“I don’t care how much you try. I will never be with you.” I gritted out, doing my best to keep her lips from touching mine again.“You know I can force you right?” She whispered, just before I felt the slickness of her tongue as it ran along the base of my neck.It felt like pins and needles were being dragged across my skin. Just her touching me like this made me feel ill. I just hope that Leilani couldn’t see this and that she was once again in her meditation.I had hated leaving her as I had. Jarod had gotten
Leilani-“Come on, I know you are wanting to get this done, but you need to snap out of it.” I heard Archer’s voice in my mind.It wasn’t the first time he has tried to get me to come out of my trance, but I have been ignoring him. He was right, I was trying to get this done. I know I already missed the first six hour break I was supposed to do, but I was doing well right now.Unlike the first time I did this, I knew what I was doing now. I have learned so much more and I felt completely fine. If anything, I felt as if I was fully rested and full of energy.“Eric is here.” Archer’s words hit like a brick wall.Okay, I don’t know if he was just saying it to get me to come out of it, but whatever the case was, it worked. Snapping out of my state of mind, I looked around the room and Eric was indeed sitting on the couch. It almost seemed as if he were looking at me, but I knew he couldn’t be.“I was wondering when you were going to come out of it.” Eric’s voice was like music to my ears.
Leilani- I spent an hour looking for Jarod. Even going as far as trying a locator spell, I produced nothing. I didn’t think I did the spell wrong, since I tried again with Eric. I also had Archer leave to go to the field of flowers, so I could try on him as well. Jarod was the only one I couldn’t locate. It was as if he was wiped out of existence all together. Continuing to look around the house, I looked for a sign or something of what could have happened to him. The longer this took, the more valuable time I was losing. “I found something.” Archer said from across the room. Moving to his side, he handed me a folded piece of paper with my name on it. Opening the paper, I noticed it was a note from Jarod. Hoping it would tell me where he was, I began to read the letter aloud. “I am guessing if you found this letter, then I was trapped inside the room. If that is the case, I am going to need you to let me out. I have cracked the code on the hex, but I have a suspicion that I am not
Leilani-I wasn’t ready yet. She couldn’t be here already, there was still so much I needed to learn first. I thought I had more time.“That was quite the show. I especially enjoyed watching you two fucking like bunnies in there. I find it exciting to know that my dear sister might be carrying your child and once again I will be taking away her hopes of a family. It is perfect really, considering that it all started this way.” Mavis laughed as she continued to clap.Petrified by her being here, all I could think about was everyone else that could be in danger now. I had hoped I would be able to face her alone, because she could seriously hurt or even kill everyone else that tried anything against her. What if someone walked out and saw her? They might get it in their mind to attack. Then there was Archer, who might decide to show her who he was and then he might be in worse danger than he should be. This was not good at all.At hearing her words, I wondered if it was possible if my ac
