Leilani-“The emotional turmoil you feel is enough to make me go crazy. Do you want to talk about what is going on in that head of yours?” Archer asked as soon as I stepped into the living room.He was sitting on the couch reading a book. It was weird seeing him with a book in his hand nearly every time I found him alone. It wasn’t that I didn’t think it was a good thing he was reading, but I was a bit confused that he could read.Being imprisoned for so long, I figured he wouldn’t be able to do a lot of things. Yet this is the third book I have found him with. Unless he never finished the other ones, he was perhaps more of an avid reader than I was.I loved books but here lately, it seems like I haven’t picked up a book in a long time. With everything going on, I was struggling to find time to read. Maybe I just needed to figure out how to manage my time better or something.“I was just not looking forward to what is about to happen.” I admitted, as I sat down next to him on the couc
Eric-As I watched everyone get ready, I couldn’t help but be worried that this wasn’t going to work. Not wanting Leilani to know I was having my doubts, I kept it to myself. She was already appearing to be extremely nervous about everything.“Okay, we are ready to start.” Delilah said as she guided Leilani to stand around the makeshift fire pit Jarod created. After Leilani was where Delilah wanted her to be, she turned to my parents and had them sit side by side near the fire. With Leilani standing behind them, Jarod and Delilah stood on opposing sides of the fire, until the three created a triangle. Moving around, I went to stand opposite Leilani so I could get a better view of what was going on.“We are going to speak slowly so you can properly pronounce the words we speak. They will be in Latin, but it isn’t important if you don’t know what the words mean. We will repeat the words repeatedly, so try your hardest to get it so you are speaking in unison with us.” Delilah explained.
Leilani-The darkness that surrounded me wasn’t right. Yes, it was nighttime, but it hadn’t been this dark. Blinking my eyes, I started to see some light moving in and out of my vision. I felt strange, like I had been drugged or something.“Leilani?” Eric’s loving voice filled my ears.I tried to focus on the light, but it was extremely out of focus. Blinking a few more times, things started to become clearer. What had happened? Had the spell worked?“Eric?” I whispered, as I looked into the light blue eyes of my mate.He released a harsh breath and his shoulders slumped mildly. Wait, why was I laying on the ground? I heard someone crying, a man perhaps. Could it be that the spell had gone wrong, and Charles and Isabelle didn’t make it?Sitting up, I was thankful for Eric’s assistance. For the strangest reason, I felt disoriented, out of place perhaps. I couldn’t remember what had happened. One minute I felt the other versions of me coming forward to echo the words Jarod and Delilah s
Leilani-Over the next few days, we worked grueling hours trying to find a solution. Delilah still hasn’t returned, so we were all starting to get worried. I could see Jarod was probably the most worried, but he was doing his best to make it seem like everything was okay. With everything going on, I wonder if perhaps too many people were getting involved. Brook was involved again to help Tate. Tate was involved for reasons that I believed were completely out of the need for vengeance. He was a loose cannon with his temper. Plus, he was drinking excessively. Charles was the only one that wasn’t necessary, that was helping the most.“This isn’t working.” I whispered to Jarod, keeping my voice low so the others couldn’t hear me.We were in a room that Jarod created using his magic. I was still trying to understand how it was possible. I understood I was a witch also, but half of the stuff I have seen him do was things I was sure were straight out of a fairytale book. The door he created
Leilani-“What is it?” I asked, as my heart started beating wildly against my chest.I couldn’t get over this uneasiness I was feeling. What could he have to say that was so important, that it had to wait until we arrived at this place? The fact he was taking his time in telling me was making it worse.Silence fell over the room as we all waited for Archer to speak. His attention just kept moving around the room, between all of us. Unless he started talking soon, I was wondering if he wanted us to guess what it was.“To keep the peace and to not stir any issues, I think it is for the best that I return to where I was held captured.” Archer finally began to speak.I was just about to say something because sending him back was exactly what I was trying to avoid. Before I could say anything, he held his hand up and gave me a look that for some reason made me keep my mouth shut.“Before you say anything, hear me out. You might not remember Mavis, but I do. If you think we have been lucky
Leilani-A rush of emotions filled me as each second passed by while we were holding our palms together. It was at that moment I was truly glad I agreed to bond myself with Archer. Since mating with Eric, there had been a part of me that felt as if I wasn’t complete. Now everything was turning out better than I anticipated. Not only was I mated, which I never thought would happen, but I also had my wolf as well as a dragon protector. All I had left was to get rid of the threat that hung over my head.Archer removed his hand from mine, and I realized I could feel the emotions that were rolling off him. I could tell he felt excited but also like he was at peace or something. It was no wonder he was always feeding into my emotions, it was exhilarating.“Will I always be able to feel everything you feel?” I asked in amazement.“Only if you want to. You can block your ability to read my emotions or even block me from reading yours. All you need to do is imagine a door being opened or close
Leilani-When we reached the packhouse, I started to become nervous about what I would find in that room. My steps began to slow as we made our way up the stairs. Just outside of the suite I shared with Eric, and now Archer, I hesitated.“Is something wrong?” Jarod’s voice wasn’t loud, but it did startle me, causing me to jump.“Well, what if there is something in that room I am not supposed to find? Who is to say it was even Mavis’s doing?” I asked as I stared at the door.“The only way we will know is if you open it. Don’t worry, I am right here with you. I understand that you might be scared, but even if something bad is behind that door, you have much worse adversaries to face in your future.” Jarod offered, making me feel a bit better.“That is if I have a future.” I muttered, more to myself than anyone.Taking a deep breath, I knew he was right. Now wasn’t the time to be scared. I was about to go up against Mavis, at least if we could find her or she finds us.My life has never
Eric-If I was being honest with myself, I wasn’t sure if this was a good idea or not. Nonetheless, if Leilani thought she needed to do this, I was more than willing to have her back on this. As we neared her old pack though, I was starting to wonder if she might be in over her head.Since Leilani had her wolf now, we had left our pack on foot. The last thing we wanted to do was draw too much attention upon arriving. What had I been thinking to agree to this?Tate, I knew wasn’t within his right mind, considering he had never been able to handle loss well. Yet what was my excuse? Yes, I lost my mother as well, but I guess I just felt like I needed to keep it together for everyone. So why had I agreed to have just the three of us head into a pack territory that wasn’t our allies and who had treated my mate so poorly? Leilani had just started training and she didn’t know how to use her magic yet.Inwardly I groaned at the complication we were possibly going to face. If I thought the Red
