GUNNAR POV

"Yes," -Kraven

"Fly back home. Do not touch any of the purchases. Let the vamps feed on the prisoners in the cells. That's their new refrigerator. I have to investigate my so-called Mate. And Kraven, brother or not, if word gets out about her being my mate......I will kill you," - Gunnar

"Yes, Alpha," - Kraven.

*********

I slam the door to the town car harder than necessary. My body is going haywire with longing and rage. I hate that I want to see her. I hate that I want to smell her. I wish I could shut down the part of my body that is craving her touch.

I bang on the two-story home's door without a care in the world. Humans driving and walking by are gawking at my massive form, but I ignore them. I am ready for answers, and this Ms. Grimes better have them.

The door opens to reveal a small child, and I growl in aggravation.

"Where is Ms. Grimes," I say in a deep, menacing voice that makes the child's eyes widen.

The boy bolts from the door without closing it, and I grin. I enter the home and open my senses. I count the heartbeats and sniff the air. The adult human female is definitely here. I fold my arms over my chest as her heavy footsteps begin to cross the upstairs floor. It only takes moments before she is down the stairs and staring at me.

"Ms. Grimes, I presume," I growl, and she swallows hard.

"Stay upstairs," she calls to the frantic heartbeats a flight above me. Her voice is shaking but clear. Brave human.

"How may I help you," she asks, trying to find some confidence.

"I am here in regards to Vanessa Hanes. I recently purchased the teen, and I need the information on her background. Her file was very limited," I explain in a dark voice.

The human's face pales tremendously, and I want to slam her against the wall. I have very little patience for fear.

"You purchased, Nessa," the woman squeaks as her eyes trail over my form in horror.

"That is what I just said," I growl slightly, and she shivers before nodding.

"We should move to the kitchen," the plump older woman says, looking towards her feet. Her eyes are filling with tears, and I want to roll my eyes.

She knew what Vanessa's destiny was. She knew she would be sold to a supernatural. I follow the woman closely, not caring about her discomfort. She sits down at a large dining table, and I sit across from her.

"You are the first supernatural I have met," Ms.Grimes whispers, and my brows raise.

"You have sold many girls before these two. How have you not met the collectors," I ask, actually curious about how she has handled that portion of their sale.

"I am informed of when the collectors will come collecting. I always leave the residence with the younger children," she explains, staring at her clasped hands.

"How very cowardly of you," I say, and to my surprise, she nods.

Silence falls between us, and I stare her down. My impatience grows before I growl again.

"Her background," I get out, reminding her of why I am here.

"Oh yes. Umm.... her mother was a supernatural, I believe, wolf. Her father is or was human. I have no idea what they did with him. Her mother died somehow, and her father left her at a fire station. The only reason we know that much is because, two weeks after abandoning her, he changed his mind. He said he wanted the last piece of his wife back. But Nessa had already been selected for sale. Usually, they wait until the age of five but considering her background, they decided early. He tried to fight them. He even went as far as kidnapping her when she was three months old. But of course, they found him and her.......I was never told anything about him again. Nessa has a necklace that might tell you about her mother, but that's it. That is all I know," Ms. Grimes explains.

She spews my mate's background out like a hose. Like she has been waiting years to tell someone about where Vanessa came from. I sigh and run one of my massive hands through my dirty blonde hair that goes to my shoulders.

My mate is a hybrid. At least that is better than human...... but not by much. It seems the only genes she got were height and supernatural beauty. But it makes it more than likely she would survive the change if I decide to claim her.

"What are your plans with her," Ms. Grimes whispers, and my eyes dart to hers.

"It's just.....I've always wondered what happened to my girls. And Nessa......well, Nessa is special. I had her since she was two days old. I just..., please don't kill her," she says with fleeting eyes that flicker back and forth from my face to her hands.

I growl.

"Most of your girls were probably drained. You are lucky Vanessa means something more to me, or that would have been her fate as well," I sneer, and I stand to my feet.

I march out of the house as fast as possible. The woman's sniffles are assaulting my ears, and I detest it. She should control her emotions if she is going to be in the business she is in.

My mind gears back towards my mate, and for once, my rage is slightly diminished.

Not human, a hybrid.

VANESSA POV

I crack my eyes open and groan. Last night was rough. Rosy and I had to share a bed with two girls that we don't know from Adam. But at least we weren't made to share a bed with the two towering vampires.

I rub my crusted-over eyes and look around the room, trying to adjust to the bright surroundings. The two vampires are standing with their arms crossed, staring at each other. They look like they are having a silent conversation.

I glance around the bed and notice I'm not the only one awake. All three of the other girls are awake, including my sleep-loving Rosy. I was the last one up....weird.

"Morning," I say to the girls, and they look at me with shock.

Rosy smiles. "Even after being sold, you are still a morning person," she says, shaking her head a little.

The other two girls keep their mouths closed, and I want to sigh. I don't really want to spend my last days depressed, but these girls seem to be set on doing just that.

I stand from the bed and stretch my long limbs. My back pops and cracks as I tilt back and forth.

"Human, you should stay in bed. The new masters haven't permitted you to get up," one of the vampires says, looking over at me with a stern glare.

"Well, I'm not peeing the bed while I wait on them," I bite out bitterly before heading towards the restroom.

As I do my business, I make a bold and dangerous decision; I will not be timid. I will not be controlled. I will stand with my spine straight .....that is until these monsters break it.

A knock on the bathroom pulls me from staring at myself in the mirror. "Yes, I gave myself a pep talk after peeing and washing my hands."

I open the door and smile; Rosy had followed my lead. I move out of the way and head back towards the bed. The other two girls are squirming slightly, and I shake my head.

"Just use the restroom. They have to realize we have bladders," I say to both wide-eyed teens.

The redhead nods, and they both scurry out of bed. They form a short line at the door, and I glare at the staring vampires.

"You are asking for trouble, blood bag," one growls, and I laugh.

Their expressions change as they take in my behavior.

"I think trouble has already found us, bloodsucker. What I do now is for myself. If I die in the next hour, I don't want to die with piss covered clothes, thank you very much," I say

They shoot each other looks before looking back at me.

"Wolves never kill their sex slaves that fast. Maybe it is a good thing if you pee yourself. It might keep them out from between your legs," the shorter of the two says with a wicked smile.

I feel the color drain from my cheeks. We aren't blood slaves. We are sex slaves.

*******

Currently, the flight attendant is avoiding eye contact with me as if I am infected with the plague. Two hours ago, the guy that was with our buyer forced us to get into a car. We ended up boarding a plane destined for Norway, and that is where we are now.

I hate the growling Viking like asshole. But I don't think I need to worry about him. He seems very interested in the redhead girl, though. I wish I could slap him every time he looks at her. And the things he says are so vulgar. It makes you want to wash your ears out. He acts as if he has never seen a pretty girl before. Horny pig. Or I guess wolf, whatever that means.

Ever since the vampire said they werewolves, images of science fiction characters have been filling my mind. The only thing I can confirm is, I believe they are werewolves. It would explain the Alpha term and the roar-like growl our buyer gave to confirm our purchase.

The flight attendant passes, again and again. I try to meet her eyes. "Come on, lady, help us." I want to scream at her. What airport lets four half-dressed teens board an international flight? What flight crew ignores silent pleas from said teens?

I openly groan as she, once again, avoids my eyes—the Viking-like wolf laughs, and my eyes narrow at him.

"Don't look so cross human. She is just doing her job. This is a supernatural airline. The staff is used to playthings being flown back and forth," he says, turning his attention away from me again.

Rosy slightly gasps, and I look into her wide hazel eyes. She mouths, "playthings," and I nod. Rosy has always fantasized about meeting someone and falling in love. She wants a fairytale romance before she gives up her virginity.

Her eyes drop, and her shoulders begin to shake from her silent sobs. I want to go to her, but the viking pervert ordered us not to move. I bite my lip. I hate that she is so broken. I hate everything about our situation.

Fuck you, U.S government.

  • Conflicted   Chapter 7 Hilda

HILDA POV I smile as I watch Crow move around my den. His fresh scent is beginning to saturate the air, and I like it. My den has smelled like only me for far too long. "Wow, this is unique," Crow says while running his fingers over my quilt. I nod and give him a sad smile."I made that. I used all of my first mate's shirts. I wanted to keep him close," I explain, and Crow stills. "Are you uncomfortable with me having it," I ask as I watch his reaction closely. My stomach twists with fear. I will not allow Crow to act as if my first mate didn't exist. I care for Crow, but I loved my mate. "No. I was worried you wouldn't want my scent on it," Crow admits while searching my eyes."I don't mind. I actually like the thought of your smell on it. I know we are.....I know this is all new, and I

  • Conflicted   Chapter 6 Hilda

CROW POV (R rated)She looks stunning today. If I hadn't already decided to compete, seeing her this morning would have been the nail in the coffin. Her blonde hair is down for the first time in two days, and it is beautiful. Natural blonde with soft waves......She is also dressed differently. She isn't in anything overly feminine, but the simple outfit looks sexy on her. She hasn't looked at me once, and that hurts a little. I know what I said last night broke something between us, but I hope by competing, it fixes it. I don't know what kind of relationship we can build between us, but her brother was right. My Cindy would be pissed if I spent my life sulking and missing her. She would want me to try for happiness, and I think I can have that with Hilda. She understands my pain. She is also intelligent, strong, and gorgeous. My brothers forfeit with honor, but no one else steps

  • Conflicted   Chapter 5 Hilda

HILDA POV Pain courses through me, and I curse the feeling back to hell where it came from. I have no idea why I gave myself hope. I should have known that I am doomed to be mated to a young second-born who has no idea how to lead. A male who can't place his own arrogance to the side to think about what is best for the pack. My fist connects with a tree, and the wood splits. My skin rips, but I ignore the irritating burn. Crow's stupid face is imprinted in my mind, and I can't help but picture it. His dark, almost black hair is thick and wavy. It shines and makes my hands itch to touch it. His dark eyes and thick eyebrows are expressive. They shout out his emotions, and my broken soul loves it. His nose is big and a little crooked, but the flaw makes him real; it makes the rest of him believable. I sigh as the first tear falls from my eye. For the first time in a long tim

  • Conflicted   Chapter 4 Hilda

CROW POVI hang my head and let the water cascade down my dirty body. I watch the dirt collect and move through the water by my feet-little specks, insignificant but irritating.....like our lives.I want to growl and argue with the new feelings brewing within me, but that would mean I acknowledge them. I don't know why I couldn't stop staring at Hilda today. My thoughts hadn't been anything but neutral and curious, but I never give females attention. Maybe my interest was stemming from our conversation last night. She impressed me.I shut off the water and step out. I hear the bedroom door bang open outside of the restroom, and my instincts kick in. I snatch the towel I had folded and waiting from the counter. I barely get it around my waist before I open the restroom door."Gage? What the hell? What's wrong," I ask as my eyes assess his pacing form.He seems unharmed, but some

  • Conflicted   Chapter 3 Hilda

HILDA POV Dark, handsome, smart...Crow is an admirable male. His body is in prime condition and looks as if he exercises regularly. A small smile tugs at my mouth as I scrub my scentless soup into my hair. I could see myself with a mate like Crow. A male who has loved. A man who has lost everything but kept going. I step out of my shower and dry off quickly. I don't have much of a morning routine. I'm not like other she-wolves, never have been. I like to get clean, get dressed, and be done. I don't prep and preen my face for male satisfaction. I get my old but clean undergarments on before throwing on some sweats with a matching worn-out tank top. Perfect. My phone chimes, and I open the message before pulling on my socks."Two new arrivals Alpha." I finish getting dressed before responding. "I will

  • Conflicted   Chapter 2 Hilda

CROW'S POV "I'm not interested," I growl as Ronan makes his speech about how we should compete for Silvertail's Alpha title....again. "Look, I get it, Crow. You had your mate. You met her at 18, and your life was perfect. But that ideal life ended.....I know that it is hard, but we need your help. I'm 25. Gage is 27. We need to find a mate or win a mate. If you compete with us, you can knock out some of the competition for us. You don't have to win her. Help one of us win her," Ronan pleads as Gage stands with his arms crossed. I drop my 110lb dumbbells and grab my blue sweat towel. I think over my brother's words while looking around our tiny flat. Pictures of mom and us decorate the entire space. I close my eyes as I wipe off my neck. I picture my mother and my mate's faces...they would want me to help my brothers. They both would probably tell me it is time for me to move on also
