Bella’s POV

Suddenly, Aunty Valerie appeared, her calm demeanor a stark contrast to the chaos around us. "Max, Bella, is everything well?" she inquired, her eyes scanning our expressions.

I exchanged a glance with Max, unsure of how much we should reveal. "We're fine, aunty. The immediate threat has been neutralized," Max replied, his voice guarded.

Aunty Valerie's gaze lingered on Max's wheelchair, her expression thoughtful. "Max, dear, why are you still in a wheelchair? You know Bella has the ability to accelerate healing. It would speed up your recovery."

I felt a pang of confusion. Aunty Valerie knew about something I could do to help Max? I turned to Max, silently questioning him. His expression tightened, a subtle signal for me not to delve into that topic.

Max spoke, deflecting the attention. "I appreciate your concern, Valerie. We have our reasons. Bella and I will manage."

Aunty Valerie raised an eyebrow, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. "Very well, if you say so. But I

Bella’s POV I felt my face instantly turn crimson, and I could almost hear my own heart pounding in my ears. The unexpected word took me by surprise, and I stuttered for a moment before regaining my composure. "Max, are you sure?" I asked, my cheeks still tinged with embarrassment. He grinned mischievously. "It's a part of the healing process, love. It is one of the mysteries of being mates. AuntyValerie would have eventually told you. It accelerates the healing." My mind raced as I processed this new information. Aunty Valerie's reluctance to discuss this aspect suddenly made sense, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of curiosity and nervousness. "Just give me a moment," I replied, needing a brief pause to collect my thoughts and he just chuckled, giving me a peck. "No need to worry, my love. You dont have to do it. I'll heal just fine." He assured, caressing my hands despite the looks and gossips we got from others. As Max and I were about to stand, ready to leave the venue,

Bella’s POV I woke up the next morning, feeling Max's arms around me.. “Just stay like this for a few seconds,” he begged and I just took a deep breath, and lay there like a good girl. It's not like we did anything the whole night. It was just that kiss and he decided to spend the night here instead. A gentle kiss on my forehead accompanied his whispered, "Good morning, my love." I reciprocated with a shy yet content, "Good morning," my voice barely audible in the quiet room. The morning unfolded with a leisurely pace like we didn't have things to bother about. Max and I enjoyed a simple breakfast together. After breakfast, Max suggested a stroll in the pack compound, taking advantage of the pleasant weather and using the opportunity to give me a tour of his grand pack house. It was way bigger than Tyler's guest estate. As we walked hand in hand, the worries of the outside world momentarily faded. Returning home, Max surprised me with a bouquet of flowers before breaking my hea

Bella’s POV Leaving Jake to fulfill his double-edged role, I returned to my quarters, my mind buzzing with a mix of apprehension and determination. Dessa, my wolf, paced within me, her instincts vigilant and protective. "Bella, is keeping a double-edged spy a wise choice?" Dessa's voice echoed in my mind. I took a deep breath, contemplating the risk. "I have a plan, Dessa. Trust me. We need to gather as much information as we can. Not to mention Selena is practically useless.' My wolf nodded in understanding, her amber eyes reflecting our shared understanding. With the plan forming in my mind, I reached for my phone and dialed Rosa's number. "Bella, what's going on?" Rosa's voice came through the line. I hesitated, choosing my words carefully. "Rosa, I need you to focus on something else for now. Forget about Selena. There are more pressing matters. The captives we had, they escaped. They might be heading back to my father. I need you to follow them discreetly and gather informat

Bella’s pov Alpha Henry observed my internal struggle with a wicked satisfaction. "Luna, this is a one-time offer. If you agree, Luna Irene will be returned to you unharmed. Refuse, and her fate remains uncertain. Choose wisely." A surge of defiance and anger ignited within me, but I suppressed it for the sake of my mother. "Fine, I'll agree to your terms. But know this, if any harm comes to my mother, son, or husband, there will be consequences." Alpha Henry's grin widened, revealing the cunning beneath the surface. "Excellent choice, Luna. Now, let's take a walk. I'm curious to know why you're so desperate to save your dear mother." I found his request suspicious but since it was Max's pack, I was assured that nothing could go wrong...or so I thought. Reluctantly, I nodded, preparing to play the game for the sake of my family. We walked along the training grounds, the tension heavy in the air. Alpha Henry observed me with a calculating gaze. "Why go to such lengths for Luna Ire

Bella’s POV The words hung in the air, a heavy pall settling over us. Disbelief and grief washed over me as I stared at the doctor, unable to comprehend the sudden turn of events. "No... He can't be...," I whispered, my voice breaking. Max's stoic facade crumbled, and for a moment, the weight of the loss registered on his face. "I'm sorry for your loss, Alpha," the doctor expressed, his condolences a faint echo in the sterile atmosphere. As I processed the unimaginable, sadness enveloped me. Alpha Henry's final moments played in my mind, and I couldn't shake the guilt that I had become a part of his tragic end. The hospital room where we had hoped for recovery became a space of mourning. Max and I stood beside Alpha Henry's lifeless form, his features frozen in an eternal stillness. His eyes, once filled with cunning determination, now stared into an unknown realm. I reached out and gently closed his eyes, sad that he never even got to say sorry to his daughter or goodbye before

A number from his past flashed on the screen, and curiosity mingled with irritation as he answered. "What do you want?" he snapped. Peron's POV After the threat she left me, and I struggled to find my way back to the car. All of a sudden, the stillness was shattered by a sudden gunshot, the crack echoing through the darkness. Bella's POV “You think she's working with Callum?” Max asked and I nodded. That was the only explanation for what was going on. But how did they even meet? Where did she learn to use a gun? “We need more information on her,” I sighed, massaging my temples as I brainstormed for a way. I nodded, my mind racing with possibilities. "We have to use every resource available. And there's someone who might have valuable information – Bris, Sophia's daughter." Max's eyes widened in realization. "You're right. If anyone knows what's going on, it's her. We need to approach this carefully, though." With a plan forming in my mind, I turned to Max. "Call your contacts, get Bris' contact information. We'll approach her discreetly. Tyler can help us with that." Max pulled out his phone and made a quick call. "I'll get right on it. Tyler owes me a favor. I'll ask him to woo Bris and find a way to implant a chip discreetly. That should give us the information we need without raising suspicion."

~Isabella~ A few months later… “Max stop. We're going to be late for our own ceremony!” I begged, feeling a fire being ignited inside of me. “They should understand that their Alpha and Luna need some intimate time,” he responded, still planting kisses on every part of me that was bare. “Isn't that what the honeymoon is for? And again, we have a lot of time to have sex, why are you rushing?” I chuckled, closing my eyes as I felt him suck at a particular spot, a hickey already in the making. “Yes, according to her, we do have a lot of time to spend together now that we are forever bonded. But trust me, what you'd witness at our honeymoon or in the future is little compared to this,” he chuckled, and stopped, now standing behind me, making me feel how hard he is for me. “It's been so hard to control myself from having you, Isa. So get ready, tonight, you're mine to devour, your legs are to tremble and ache for me. Your lips are to pleasure me and your vocal cords, to sing my name o

Alpha Max's POV “Bella don't,” I quickly warned, my gaze fixed on Jake and Cayden. No matter how I tried to reach him through the mind link, I couldn't. It was like there was a barrier or something. Instead, I requested backup from my men and they reassured me that they would come here soon. “I'll inject myself instead,” I proposed but Luna Irene just shook her head and then chuckled lightly. “It's Bella I want… not you,” she said and motioned to the syringe on the floor. “The pain you’d feel from losing your beloved mate is enough for me,” she added then faced Bella. “Pick it up, Bella,” she said and Bella nodded, bending down and then picking it up. “Luna Irene please,” I started begging. “Don't do this.” I pleaded but it all fell on deaf ears. “If you're trying to stall, know that the timer is ticking,” she chuckled, and it only intensified the pain Bella and I felt since we were already connected. Bella's POV As he left the room, I exchanged a worried glance with Max, who seemed to share my concerns about what lay ahead. "I'll handle Louis," Max assured, and I helped him to the bed. Together, we made calls to Peron and his men. We told Peron to be watchful as Louis might vent his anger on anyone or anything and he wasn't exempted. After that, we told the men to watch Louis and hold him if he tried anything stupid. Once we were done, I heard Max wince and although it was faint, my heart still broke knowing he was in pain because of me. Like that wasn't enough, I noticed his shirt was stained with blood and that only meant one thing, his wounds reopened once again because of me. “Max,” I began to sob, seeing him trying to fight the pain. “Let me call the doctor,” I sobbed, about to leave but Dessa stopped me. “There's little the doctor can do, Bella. They need us. His wolf needs us,” she pleaded and I just remained there like a statue. Although I knew it might happen soon,

"You did what you had to do, Bella,” Max coaxed, patting my back and I just wrapped my hands around him.. “I'm sorry,” I cried, apologizing because he almost died, and lost his father because of me. “I'm sorry.” Max, his strength unwavering despite the pain, gently lifted my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze. "You don't have to apologize, Bella. You saved us. I'm grateful that it's finally over and we know the real truth." The mixture of gratitude and concern in Max's eyes offered a reassuring anchor amid the storm of emotions I was facing in me. "Get yourself together. Think about our son, Cayden. He needs his mom," Max urged. Nodding through tears, I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the challenges ahead. Cayden's innocent face flashed in my mind, a reminder that the fight was not just for me

Finally, she spoke, her voice a haunting whisper. "You want to know why, don't you?" Luna Irene's gaze shifted to all those present, her words a chilling revelation. "The truth behind the years of deception and hatred." Max, though injured, stood firm, urging her to reveal the hidden layers of her torment. Luna Irene took a deep breath, as if preparing to expose the deepest recesses of her soul. "It started long before Isabella was born," she began, her eyes reflecting the pain of a buried past. "I was to be mated to another Alpha, the man I loved, the man who stole my heart. But then, circumstances changed." Luna Irene's narrative unfolded lik

Bella's POV The hospital room was a sterile cocoon, isolating us from the outside world. Luna Irene, weakened but resilient, squeezed my hands in acknowledgment of the pact we had just made. My mind raced with conflicting thoughts, torn between the values I held and the harsh reality that demanded action. "I can't believe it has come to this," I murmured, more to myself than to Max. He placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Sometimes, circumstances force us to make choices we never thought we'd face. It doesn't define who we are; it's about survival." I nodded, absorbing his words. "We need to act fast, Max. Every momen
