Chapter 110 Don't Belong

Third Person's POV

Hughes stood near the door, just inside Ethan's hospital room. He watched Claudius break down crying again as he approached Ethan's bedside.

Claudius' hands trembled, not sure where to touch him. Ethan's face was so swollen and bruised. 'How did he land like that?' Both Claudius and Hughes wondered.

Somehow during his fall, Ethan turned and landed face-first. He stuck his hand out to brace himself, but that only broke his wrist, before his face hit the ground.

The doctor said he'll be okay, and he's lucky he didn't break his neck.

Hughes couldn't move. He felt nauseous and on the verge of throwing up.

"I did this... I hurt him. Goddess, I hurt my own mate!"

"Stop!.. I can't comfort you right now, But this isn't your fault. It was an accident. Just, just be with him, with me." Claudius snapped but paused and calmed himself before continuing his sentence.

He can't help it, even though it was an accident, a part of Claudius is still angry at Hughes. Maybe if

hughes pushed it too far, he doesn't even know basic information about his mates and doesn't communicate with them and clearly hasn't taught or spoken to ethan about his new life and responsibilities. ethan is overwhelmed and due to past traumatic events in his live is in flight or fight mode.
