CHAPTER FOURTY _ TWO

Maria tapped her parents twice, and when they didn't wake up, she concluded that they were deeply asleep. She picked up her mom's hair and cut out a little portion of the lengthy hair. She placed it in her pocket and did the same with her dad's hair. She hurried back to her room, and when she got there, she placed a call to the housekeeper to go wake her parents up and take them to their rooms. She slept soundly, hoping to perform a DNA test with the two hairs in a far away hospital.

Things had been rough with Fred. He had left the country so he would easily forget about Maria, but even when he tried everything possible to forget about her, nothing was working. He heard about Maria's ordeal and that she was back to her father's house and decided to return. Maybe he would try asking her out and try getting back together with her and see how it goes.

Mary and Henry were having a very serious issue at their apartment. Mary had woken up early in the morning to get Dy

She had left the hose at first without her clothes, and had returned here leaving her new clothes behind at Henry's house. This time around she had no plans of returning to the house so their was no point leaving her clothes here. She placed her box beside her, and began unpacking her clothes from her wardrobe. She poured them all on her bed, then she walked over to her shoe rack. She packed all her shoes, her wigs, bags, makeup kits, and everything she could remember at that time. She arranged everything on her bed, and stopped to stare at them. There was nowhere she would pack all of those in that box. She stared from her box to her belongings, and they were way too much to all fit into her box. She brought out her other box and began packing. She filled the first box and her stuffs hadn't even gone half. She packed a few thi

She should come with her family they deserve to know too," Clifford said. "S

CHAPTER FORTY _ FIVEFLASHBACK.(Years back)Clifford had just returned from the hospital. He had visited the hospital about three days ago with his wife for a test to be carried out on both of them and as God would have it, he went alone to get the results because his wife's mom fell sick and she had to travel to look after her.It had just been confirmed that Faith's womb was damaged and she wouldn't be able to carry her own child. It was as a result of numerous abortions Clifford made her carry out in the past, with the excuse that he wasn't ready to share her with anyone. After five years of marriage, his parents and siblings began to ask if his wife was barren. So they decided to keep their next baby, but unfortunately, none ever came again no matter how hard they tried.Clifford thought this was a kind of punishment upon him. Plus, he knew his wife really loved kids and always wanted to have her own child. Clifford had always told her to give him time, promising her that they wo

CHAPTER FORTY _ SIXFLASHBACK (Con't)Clifford felt disgusted with himself and refused to touch his wife that night. When she insisted on making out with him, he left the room and went to sleep in the guest room. Clifford continued to visit Mercy, and they both kept having sex, pending the time she would get pregnant. "What is going on, Clifford? Why don't you touch me anymore?" Faith asked. "Faith. I am just not in the mood these days?" He replied. "Are you cheating on me? Or perhaps you are irritated because I can not afford to give you a child now that you need one?" She asked. "Of course not, honey," Clifford said and dragged Faith closer to him. He made her sit on his thigh and began to kiss her vigorously. He thought about it only now. When Mercy finally gets pregnant, how would he also claim he got his wife pregnant without touching her? Plus, he didn't want her to become suspicious of anything. "Let's not do this here, please," Faith pleaded. They were on the couch, and

Clifford and Faith returned home and ordered that a banquet should be prepared. Faith quickly contacted her friends to come over to the house and celebrate with her. Clifford sat on the couch, staring at his wife as she danced around the sitting room singing praises to God. The smile on her face had refused to leave. She walked up to Clifford, stretched her hand towards him, and toom his hand in hers. "Honey, our prayers for good two years have been answered, I am super excited today. But you don't look as excited as I am. Why not stand up? Let's dance together? I thought you always wanted this?" Faith asked Clifford. "Go ahead and enjoy yourself. You women are just too dramatic. CHAPTER FOURTY _ EIGHT FLASHBACK (Con't)"The baby is too young to be left all alone. Can I nurse her for at least a week?" Mercy asked. "Are you out of your mind?" Clifford shouted at her."Please. It would be so unfair to deny this baby her mother's breast milk, when it is very possible for me to nurse her for at least a week before I disappear," Mercy pleaded. Clifford walked over to the single couch in the room and sat there with his hand placed under his jaw. He tapped his jaw continuously with a finger. Everyone in the room had their eyes on him waiting for his approval or disapproval of Mercy's proposal. After waiting for a while, Mercy's mom spoke up."I know this is hard for you both. Nobody wants to be in this condition, but it would be very difficult for a mother to just give up her child like that. At least let her spend a week with the baby, after then she can survive on milk.""The agreement was that this baby isn't her's," Clifford reminded them."I know, but just a

For the good of us both, especially me, who gets to nurse the baby all the time. Well, except you have an ulterior motive for bringing a nanny," she said. "Another motive, of course not," Clifford replied. "Honey, are you okay? Because you don't sound and look okay. I have told you I'm good with the fact that you brought in a nanny to assist. I seriously don't have any issues with the fact that you didn't ask me first. I was sleeping then, and you couldn't wake me up, so it is actually not your fault."~Mercy agreed to the costume but not to the makeup. Clifford was mad at her when she presented herself to Faith without any facial make-up, just the costume. She introduced herself to Faith and left. Faith smiled at her. CHAPTER FIFTYFLASHBACK (Con't)Clifford was the first to notice the absence of mercy at the gathering. After looking carefully and she was nowhere to be found, he moved his eyes to Faith and noticed that she was no longer carrying the baby. "Where is Maria?" He whispered into her ear immediately he walked up to her. She was standing in front of some guests and attending to them."She fell asleep," Faith replied nonchalantly. Faith was smiling as if nothing was going on. Clifford thought that maybe Mercy wanted to spend a little more time with the kid inside before she finally disappeared, so he decided to return back to his seat. Clifford's eyes were fixed on Faith as she walked around with a smile on her face. She walked from table to table, greeting everyone.Clifford didn't know the reason he wasn't feeling comfortable. He was just bothered, and one heart kept saying, "Go check up on your kid. He excused himself from the table where he sat with his friends and hurried into the h

Or you want your parents to come here and gundown everyone because of you? I guess that is the only time you would learn."Maria shook her head continously, as her mom spoke. CHAPTER NINETY _ NINETime flew by real quick and the camp days were finally over. Henry and Maria had prepared a banquet for the family. She hadn't figured out yet where to stay, and she hoped on convincing her biological mom, and grandma to let her stay even if it meant moving to their room with them. She wouldn't want to bother Dylan in his room, and Mary's room would be a no go area. Of course, they wouldn't want her to stay in Henry's room, so the best thing was to either move into theirs. Or she could even manage with the housekeeper, afterall she's human..The both of them were busy setting the dinning and exchanging kisses when they heard a soft knock on the door. The housekeeper walked over to the door to help get the door, while the two rushed the work to quickly finish it before the three would walk in. CHAPTER NINETY _ EIGHT Henry lay in bed thinking about Mary. He once loved her and still did, although not romantically anymore. He wished there was something he could do about her, but there was absolutely nothing. She was guilty of the case charged, and although Maria hadn't pressed charges yet, she would as soon as Faith succeeded in convincing her. Henry was so worried for Mary's safety. It was so early in the morning, and Henry hadn't had any sleep yet. The wall clock that hung on the wall facing him read the time to his face. And it displayed 5am.Henry sighed, as he remembered Mercy, Dylan and granny. The three were in Dylan's school camp. He felt bad for the kid, none of his parents could attend the camp with him. Henry would have gone but Dylan insisted he shouldn't attend the camp without Mary. He didn't want to create a scene in the school by going there against the kid's wish, so he decided to just stay back at home. He heard the door bell ring and jerked from the bed

CHAPTER NINETY _ SEVEN The day was a very stressful and yet very successful one. Everything the Clifford's planned on achieving for that fay they did before dusk. Everyone was exhausted and just retired to their rooms to sleep. Maria lay in bed with her eyes closed as thoughts flew freely in and out of her mind. Tears rolled down her left eyes, dropping on the sheets. She heard a light knock on the door and wiped her face immediately. "Come in," she managed to say and sat up in bed. She was too tired to stand to her feet and thanked her stars she didn't lock the door yet. She saw her mom walk into her room with a sad smile on her face. She sat on the bed beside Maria and held her jaw up. Maria understood that her mom was only trying to make her happy. She didn't like that all her life revolved around a man who was married to her own sister and wished that she could help. CHAPTER NINETY _ SIXA FEW WEEKS LATERMaria stood behind the door of her parents' room. She could hear them talk in whispers and laugh. Soon, their tone increased, and she realized they were talking to someone or some people on the phone."We should just fix the wedding, and they would come together, get married. It is not like they have a choice after all. "That was Faith's voice. She knew the meeting they held was about she and Fred, and she also knew it was Fred's parents on the other end of the call. "Maybe you would just come over to the house so we would plan the wedding properly," Clifford's voice sounded. She felt betrayed that her dad was part of the plan. Why would he? She thought he was on her side and would help her achieve whatever she wanted. Why would he switch sides all of a sudden? She sighed sadly and returned to her room. She sat in bed and banged the door against the wall. She was breathing heavily and fuming at the same time. She stood up.from the bed and wa
