Their home was not what I expected.
It was a penthouse in the middle of the city. The car was parked in an underground parking that was specially reserved for Alexander Wyatt. There was a pin code that had to be entered for the elevator to go straight up to the penthouse.
Alexander stepped out of the elevator and walk right over to the dark oak door. He paused briefly before he pushed the door open and entered the penthouse.
“Come on,” Valiant urged softly with a hand pressed to the small of my back.
A light above the stove was on and a single lamp in the living room. It didn’t give me much light to take it all in, not that it mattered. Valiant steered me away from the living room, down a dark hall, and towards a door at the end.
He pushed it open and stepped inside first to switch on the light.
Everything about the room was simple. A bed and bedside tables, a closet, and a tall window with a view of half the city. The wall was painted a light green that matched the bed sheets.
“You can make any changes you want,” Valiant said softly. “Just let me know what you need and I’ll make sure that you get it.”
“I won’t be staying for long,” I told him.
He raised an eyebrow. “You have a lot of faith in John.”
I didn’t reply. Walking over to the bed, I placed my bag down on it and turned to face him. It made me see the door that led into the bathroom and a big bookshelf I had missed earlier.
“I want to show you something.” He gestured for me to follow him as he walked over to the bookshelf.
I frowned when he pulled a specific book a few inches out of its spot and a click filled the room. He glanced at me, and then pulled the shelf away from the wall, revealing a secret room.
“A nest if you ever need one.”
“I won’t,” I replied.
But curiosity had me moving past him into the room.
There were no windows.
A big canopy bed occupied the center of the room. Thick purple curtains surrounded the bed which was covered with different size pillows.
“There’s also a bathroom,” he said softly, pointing towards it. “And a closet filled with more pillows and blankets.”
“You have an omega?”
“No.”
I frowned. “But you have a nest.”
Valiant switched off the light and walked out of the room. I followed silently behind him, questions flooding my mind. Once we were in the bedroom again, he pushed the bookshelf back into place and turned to look at me.
“I have a few cousins who visit sometimes,” he said softly. “They’re omega’s and we like to be prepared in case the unexpected happens.”
He looked me right in the eyes and lied to me, but I wasn’t going to push. If he didn’t want to tell me why they had a nest hidden away in their penthouse, I wasn’t going to push him.
My eyes dropped to his neck, searching for a bond mark but I found nothing but bare skin.
“I’ll show you around tomorrow.” He made his way over to the door. “My room is right across the hall if you need anything.”
“Thank you.”
He smiled. “Sleep well, petal.”
The door clicked closed behind him. I stared at it, trying to make sense of the sudden loneliness that filled me. I didn’t want him to leave, but I didn’t want him to stay either.
Turning in a slow circle, I took everything in again. It looked nothing like my room which I didn’t like. My walls were decorated with fairy lights so I didn’t have to sleep with the main light on.
At least there were lamps to use.
I decided to take a quick shower and then climbed into bed. A sigh fell from my lips as I stared at the shadows created by the lamps.
It was so silent that I could hear the ringing in my own ears. Were all three of them already in bed? I pushed the thought away as soon as it entered my mind.
It was only going to be for two weeks.
There was no reason for me to get to know them because as soon as John paid off his dept, I would return home and never see them again.
For some reason, the thought filled me with pain. Now that I had met them, I wanted to know more about them, especially about Elias.
Like how had he gotten his scar? Why was he still unbonded? Why were they all unbonded, especially a man like Alexander?
If you’re going to stay here for a month, you’ll get to learn everything about them.
I turned onto my back and tugged the sheets up to my chin. My eyes fluttered closed but sleep evaded me.
Reaching for my phone, I checked for any messages from my mother but found only one from an unknown number.
I will get the money and pay them back. Just keep your distance. They are dangerous. You don’t want the past to be repeated, do you, Daisy?
I frowned at the message, certain that John had sent it. What was there to fuck up?
***
By three o’clock I gave up my tossing and turning and got up. I dressed for the day and then grabbed my phone. The door didn’t make a sound when I opened it. I paused, listening for any sound to indicate that someone was awake. When I was sure that there would be no unexpected meeting with any of them, I slipped out of the room and pulled the door closed behind me.
My heartbeat increased the further I walked down the hall. There were no lights on like there had been when we arrived last night.
Pausing, I turned on my phone’s flashlight and then walked the rest of the way. When I reached the kitchen, I hesitated.
I walked over to the fridge and pulled it open. My lips parted in a silent gasp as I took it all in. The fridge was stacked with food…healthy food. Lots and lots of healthy food.
My lips twisted in disgust.
I wanted something sweet, something unhealthy.
Letting out a sigh, I closed the door and moved toward one of the cabinets. The sweet stuff must be hidden somewhere. My shoulders slumped when I opened the cabinet door and found more healthy snacks inside.
“It had to be health freaks,” I muttered.
I closed the cabinet and opened another, but froze when a sound reached my ears. Gripping my phone tightly, I slowly turned around.
The scream escaped before the light was switched on.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay.”
Hands gripped my arms, making the panic worse. I thrashed, trying my best to free myself. The hold tightened and then dropped away. I made a run for the safety of my bedroom but in the next moment, I was restrained.
“Enough!”
My body jerked in fright, but my mind instantly obeyed the alpha command. I slumped against the man.
“Good,” the man muttered close to my ear. “It’s just me, flower. Elias. You remember me, don’t you?”
Elias. The man with the scar. I nodded, I remembered him. His hold on me loosened enough for me to slip away. The fear faded, only to be replaced by anger.
I spun around and started hitting him. “You freaking asshole! Why would you do that?”
With a low growl that made my panties flood with slick, Elias gripped my wrist to stop my hits, and took a step forward, pinning me against the cabinet.
“Stop,” he growled. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“You did.”
“If it makes you feel better, you scared the shit out of me too.” Elias rubbed slow circles on the inside of my wrists with his thumbs. “I didn’t expect someone to be up so early.”
The movement of his thumbs was distracting me. I blinked and snapped out of the daze he had me in. Elias immediately let my wrist go when I twisted my arms, but he didn’t move away. His hands dropped to grip the counter on either side of my hips.
I sucked in a nervous breath and instantly wished I hadn’t
He smelled fresh and clean like he just took a shower. But underneath the scent of soap was another scent that called to me. I sucked in another breath and allowed my eyes to flutter closed.
“I like the way you smell too,” he whispered, making my eyes snap open. “Now tell me flower, are you hungry?”
I instantly nodded. “I’m not eating any of that healthy stuff.”
He chuckled. “What are you craving?”
How does he know I’m craving something?
“Something sweet,” I told him.
“Get some shoes on,” Elias ordered. “Our super early breakfast is waiting for us.”
A fellow sweet tooth. Valiant was going to hate it. I watched in amusement as Daisy drowned her pancakes in syrup, but the amusement faded when my eyes darted up to her face. Her eyes were still red-rimmed from crying after I scared her. “I’m sorry,” I apologized again. “I really didn’t know that you were there.” Daisy slowly lowered the bottle to the table before she looked up at me. “You didn’t smell me?” Unease gripped me for a moment, but I instantly pushed it aside. I had nothing to feel uncomfortable about. I cleared my throat and took a sip of my coffee before I answered her. “I have no sense of smell,” I told her softly. “After the…” I trailed off, pointing at my face. “My vision was damaged but managed to be repaired, but they couldn’t do the same to my…smell. I’m also half deaf in my left ear.” “How did it happen?” she asked, eyes darting to my scar for a second. I saw nothing but curiosity in her eyes. “Let’s play a game,” I said. “I answer your questions, and yo
“Daisy isn’t in her room.”My eyes snapped up from the newspaper. “What do you mean she’s not in her room?”“Don’t fuck with me Val,” Alex growled. “I checked the nest and the bathroom. She’s not here!”“You think that she left?” I frowned. “Why would she leave?”“Because John told her that she would be staying for two weeks, not a fucking month.”Letting out a sigh, I closed the newspaper and neatly folded it before I placed it down on the table. He was angry, and angry Alexander made stupid decisions. “Maybe she just went for a walk,” I suggested. “Is her stuff still in the room?”He either ignored me or didn’t hear my question. “What if she’s meeting him somewhere? What if they are making plans for her to feed him information about us?”It was a possibility, I silently agreed, but very unlikely. “I get the feeling that Daisy dislikes John as much as we do. If she felt anything-”“She lives under his roof,” Alex interrupted. “Exactly.” I sat up. “We can use her to get information
A knock on the bedroom door startled me.Frowning, I glanced between the door and the clothes folded neatly across the bed. I had been so caught up in the task that I had completely forgotten where I was.“Daisy?”“Yes?” I called, continuing my task of folding the shirt. The door opened a second later.“Damn, you’re really good at that.”I looked up at Valiant. He was staring at the neatly folded clothes on my bed.“Are you making fun of me?” I asked him.His eyes snapped to mine. “No. Why would you think that?”I shrugged, leaning over to place the folded shirt on top of the shirt pile. When I sat back and looked up at him, he was still staring at the clothes. I followed his gaze, searching for the item that was holding his attention. Colour flooded my cheeks when I realized what he was staring at.At the very edge of the bed was my plain cotton underwear.“You act like you’ve never seen a woman’s panties before,” I muttered, even though I was burning with embarrassment inside.“I’ve
“Why are you in such a good mood?”It was extremely rare for Valiant to be bright-eyed and happy at eight o’clock on a Monday morning. Grumpy was one word I constantly used to describe him when he was working on a case.“Can’t I just be happy?” he questioned, raising an eyebrow.I walked past him to pour myself a cup of coffee. “You’re usually not this happy when you’re in the middle of a case.”“If you want to know so badly…” He rolled his eyes. “Daisy agreed to organize my closet. Once I have my lucky tie, this case will be solved in no time.”I had a feeling that it was about more than his lucky tie. Knowing Valiant, I wasn’t going to get any answers out of him unless he volunteered to tell me himself. After downing half my cup of coffee, I set it aside and started pulling things out to make breakfast. Alex already left for work so it was just Daisy, Valiant, and me.“Are you staying for breakfast?” I asked him.“Depends. What are you making?”I smiled. “Pancakes.”Valiant choked o
I have never seen so many toys in one place before. Clothes yes. The man had more clothes than my mother and stepsister combined. Some of it had never been worn before and then there were a few pieces that were so well-worn that it had holes in it. I tried to keep my focus on the task at hand, but it was nearly impossible with the bed covered in toys and Elias sitting in the middle. Whenever I glanced up at him it was to find him studying a different toy. “A few years ago, before Val was so well-known, he worked on a case. The woman owns a sex shop. As part of her gratitude for helping her, she sent him toys every month,” Elias said softly, drawing my attention back to him. “I didn’t know that she was still sending him toys.”I bit my lip to stop the questions from tumbling past them. Their conversation from earlier drifted through my mind. They had been talking about playing dirty. “There are a few interesting ones.” He chuckled as he picked up another box. “Who comes up with th
I shifted nervously in my seat as I glanced around the restaurant. She was running late even though she had texted me to say that she was only twenty minutes away. It had taken me three days to build up the courage to call my mother to confront her about the lies I had been told. She had insisted that we meet at this restaurant for lunch so we could talk face to face. Things between Alexander and I were still a bit tense, but he hadn’t been rude or acted like an asshole since our…talk. I hadn’t told him about the lunch with my mother, but Elias knew. He had been the one to call me a taxi and demanded that I call him if something happened. He hadn’t offered to come with me, and I wasn’t sure why it made me feel disappointed. We shared a moment, but whatever happened between us disappeared when Elias left me in that bathroom. I was surprised that he hadn’t told the others about what happened. Maybe he had, and they just didn’t care. Shaking my head, I took a sip of water and p
Goosebumps covered every inch of my skin because of Daisy’s warm breath against my throat. I tried to ignore it. I tried to think of anything other than her warm breath against my skin and her soft body pressed against mine. She was fast asleep with her head resting on my shoulder. Every time I shifted in my seat, her arms would tighten as if she was scared I would leave her.My alpha instincts were urging me to protect the little omega in my lap.“Did we loose them yet?” I asked Stevens. The sooner we got home, the sooner I could hand her over to Elias and force the rising feelings down.“Almost.”I growled. Fucking assholes. At least, there was only a dozen reporters and Stevens managed to scare them off with his nephew’s water gun. Fuck, it’s going to be all over the news.Pursing my lips, I carefully shifted in the seat to pull my phone from my pocket. I called Valiant but the call went straight to voicemail. He was probably busy in court.Elias answered on the first ring. “Is she
Elias looked like he was going to pass out. His skin was paler than normal and clammy. Alexander had to help him out of the truck and into the elevator. The moment he let him go and moved forward to enter the code for the penthouse, Elias slid down to the floor. I wanted to help, but I was unsure what to do. When we arrived at the penthouse, Alexander easily pulled him to his feet. I followed closely behind them as they stumbled down the hall into what had to be Elias’s room. “Pull the covers back,” Alexander ordered. I hurried forward and did as he ordered before I stepped back. Alexander gently lowered Elias to the bed. He gripped the hem of his shirt and tugged it upwards. “Arms up,” he ordered. With a low groan, Elias raised his arms and allowed Alexander to pull off his shirt. I turned away, trying to look at anything but Elias. For some reason, my eyes were drawn to the pale skin. His torso was firm but not overly muscled. But what caught and held my attention were
The moment I opened my eyes, I realized that something was different. I felt different. Blinking up at the ceiling, I took slow deep breaths as I evaluated things. Besides from a few aches and pains, nothing about my body felt any different. I was sore from all the fucking we had been doing the previous night and the bond marks throbbed. Val’s mark hurt a little more than the others, but I was sure that it was because he hadn’t nursed it enough yet. I glanced at Val who was still fast asleep next to me and then silently slipped out of bed. Walking into the bathroom, I hesitated a moment before I turned towards the mirror. My eyes widened. Stumbling forward, I leaned forward to get a closer look. Raising a shaky hand I traced the raised skin of the mark with my finger tip. Out of all the places, he had to mark me on my left breasts directly over my nipple. It was going to be hell when he nurse his mark. I sighed. Using the toilet, I washed my hands and splashed my face with some
Elias knew what he was doing. Other than me who was starting to second-guess everything. I wasn’t so sure about my plan anymore. Insecurities were starting to fill my mind.I swallowed as I stared down at the toys Elias had placed on the end of the bed. Along with it was a bottle of lube, some towels and a packet of wipes. The lamps next to the bed were switched on, creating a soft glow around the room. One curtain had been closed and the other was half open, letting in some more light.“They should be home any minute now,” Elias said softly. “Wait here. I’ll send him to his room when they get back.” He smirked as he walked out of the room.I stood awkwardly by the bed, eyes darted around the room. Should I take a seat on the bed? Do a sexy pose like they do in the movies? It felt like forever before I heard voices coming from the kitchen. I waited a few more minutes and when Val didn’t appear, I made my way towards them.Only he wasn’t with them in the kitchen.Frowning, I glanced
“I’m not sure how I feel about this. You spend most of the time taking care of them and now you carry both their marks. It should have been fare if I got to mark you first.”I swallowed as Val slowly stalked closer.“I think I might need to hurt myself too.”“Don’t talk like that Val!” I frowned at him. “You don’t have to do anything to get my attention.”He raised an eyebrow. “I don’t?”“You have my attention now.”“Yeah, but for how long?”“However long you want it.”Valiant smiled but it slipped the moment Elias appeared. Muttering under his breath he turned and then fell back onto the bed I had been busy making.I glared at him, but he ignored me.“Your mother called,” Elias said softly. “She wants you to return home immediately.”I blinked at him. “I’m sorry, I think I misunderstood. My mother who has been ignoring me for most my life, wants me to return home?”“Yes.”“Why?”Elias shrugged. His eyes darted to Val for a few seconds before the locked on me again. I blushed under hi
I was glad that Alex had done bonded Daisy before she could run away.It was going to take some time for Daisy to work on her issues, but we were going to be by her side every step of the way.Although I had imagined a different kind of bonding when Daisy said that she wanted us to bond her.A sigh fell from my lips as I turned onto my side.Daisy was snuggled between Alex and Val, fast asleep. My eyes locked on her shoulder. The wound was ugly red and stood out against her pale skin. I swallowed and forced my eyes away from her bond mark. After hesitating for only a second more, I slowly slid out of bed and walked out of the nest.A few minutes later I was seated behind the computer with a steaming cup of coffee and my folder with notes open next to me. But no matter how hard I tried, the words deserted me. All I could think about was Daisy and the fact that she was now our omega. We were now officially deemed a pack.“Why do you always slip out of bed in the middle of the night?”My
As it turned out, much to their disappointment, their parents were already at the penthouse. They were already halfway here when their mom called. I was actually happy that they arrived when they did. As eager as I was to bond them, I wanted to clear the air with their family first. Especially Sylvia. She started glaring at me the moment she walked though the door. Mom Bee greeted me with a hug and muttered words that she was happy that I was okay and home. While Elias and Mom Bee finished cooking dinner, I helped set the table and then joined the others in the living room. Alex pulled me onto his lap before I could take a seat next to him. Colour flooded my cheeks but I relaxed against his chest. My eyes locked with Alister’s for a few seconds before I quickly looked away. “How are you doing Daisy?” he asked softly. “I’m doing okay, thank you for asking.” Sylvia scoffed. “How can you be doing okay when you’re the reason my boys got injured?” “Sylvia.” “Mom!” She ignored them
“Hey,” I said softly.Daisy’s eyes darted up to me and immediately darted away again. “Hi.”I hesitated in the doorway, waiting for her to invite me in, but she didn’t. There was an awkwardness between us that hasn’t been there before and it was driving me crazy.“Can I come in?”Daisy nodded. My eyes darted around the room as I entered. Her clothes were scattered around one side of the bed and on the other side it was folded neatly where she sat, busy sorting through it. Was she planning on leaving? My heart squeezed painfully in my chest but I ignored the pain and took a seat on the edge of the bed.“Daisy, we need to talk.”She paused for a few seconds and then finished folding the shirt and placing it on the pile of other neatly folded shirts before she raised her head to look at me.Instead of saying a word, I showed her.“John’s men trashed the apartment when they came looking for you. I found it on the floor in the nest.”Daisy swallowed loudly. “Does Alex know?”“No.”Licking
“Good morning, how are you feeling?”My eyes darted around the kitchen, searching but only finding David seated at the table. I could have sworn I smelled Alex’s scent on the pillow when I woke up. We had a conversation and he told me that Elias was in the hospital. Was it all a dream?“He’s outside, making some calls,” David said softly. My shoulders slumped as relieve flooded me.“You didn’t answer my question. How are you feeling?”I licked my lips as I stepped further into the kitchen. “A little shaky and I have a headache.”“That’s because you haven’t had a descend meal in a while.” David close his laptop and stood. “I’ll make you some breakfast.”I hovered close to the table and watched him as he moved around the kitchen. A few minutes later the smell of frying bacon filled the air, making my stomach growl.“I…uhm…t-thank you for…what you did,” I stuttered.Colour flooded my cheeks when he turned around to look at me.“How did you know that…it’s what I needed?” I asked him, eyes
Daisy stirred, making my eyes snap open.I held my breath as I stared at her, waiting for her eyes to open. But they didn’t. She turned onto her back and sighed. I stared at her for a few more seconds before I leaned back in the chair.Movement from the corner of my eyes caught my attention.David hovered in the doorway, eyes darting over Daisy and then to me.“How long is she going to be asleep?” I asked him.“For another hour at least,” he answered. “I gave her a strong dose because I didn’t know how long it would have taken you to get here. Your omega made it clear that she didn’t want another alpha to touch her.”My lips twitched but I didn’t smile. Despite Daisy’s constant claim that she wasn’t the right omega for us, she already accepted us as her alphas.“Let her sleep, I made some coffee,” David muttered.“Got anything stronger?” I asked him as I stood.“No.”I followed him out of the room and down the hall to the living room. David nodded towards a tray on the coffee tabel. “
“Where the fuck is she?”His loud exclamation was followed by the sound of flesh hitting flesh. I bit down on my tongue to stop the groan of pain from escaping. A few punches was nothing compared to the pain I had gone through when I was injured in the explosion.Gripping my chin, he tilted my head back.I watched him through swollen eyes and when he got close enough, I spit in his face.Snarling, he punched me in the stomach, making me swing back and forth. The chains dug into my skin, making fresh blood trail down my arms.I was glad they grabbed me and not Alex or Val. I had been trained to endure hours of torture. They were tough but Alex was already injured and they would have used that to get their answers.“Last chance,” John growled. “ Where is Daisy?”I gave him a bloody smile. “Fuck you.”Nothing happened.“Maybe you’ll start talking once your mother starts begging.”Bile rose in my throat but I swallowed it down. He was just joking. He had to be fucking joking.Nobody knew
