Rylan's POV

“Hey Rylan, do you really think we’ll find her this year? We’ve been at it for almost 20 years already.” Rohan asks me through our shared mindlink as we run north in the late spring forest.

“I do. Can’t you feel it too? The buzzing in your bones telling you we’re getting closer.” I ask, knowing he should feel it too.

“I don’t know, I’ve thought I felt it many times these last few years but I was always wrong so I don’t really trust that feeling anymore. Maybe the Oracle was wrong and our mate isn’t in the Human Realm after all.” He says with a tone that hints on his wearing patience.

“You know she’s never been wrong even once in the six centuries she’s been alive, we can’t give up now. Come on, let’s rest once we pass the border to Montana.” I say, trying to keep us both motivated.

We continue running stuck in our own thoughts for well over two hours before we finally cross the state line. Almost immediately we both stop in our tracks as if we’ve run into a wall. My wolf, Dion, is going out of his mind feeling our mate close by. He’s tearing through the control I have on our body, trying to take us to her so we can finally claim her as ours.

As I’m fighting for control I can feel how Rohan is having the same problem, his wolf Hyde at the surface clawing to get through. Rohan, wanting the same thing as his wolf, follows his instinct almost immediately and shoots away like a bullet to the northeast. I quickly catch up and run next to my brother as we listen to our wolves guiding us to our mate’s location.

The buzzing in my body is telling me how close we are and I push myself to run even faster, running head to head with Rohan.

Suddenly I feel a force knock into me from my right and the impact makes me tumble around a few times. As soon as I find steady ground I bring my jaws around the hind leg of the rogue that has his canines buried in my flank. I rip him away from me, crushing his leg until I can feel his bones shatter in my mouth. Spitting him out I jump for his throat, tearing out his jugular in one swift motion.

Another two rogues reach me just as I kill off their companion but now being prepared I kill them off without another scratch on myself. The first one dives in head first making it easy for me to dodge underneath him and use my claws to slice up his belly. The second one doesn’t have time to change course when I come barrelling towards him, biting down on his neck while I twist it hard enough to almost sever his head completely from his body.

Looking up I find my brother with an additional four rogues dead at his paws, completely unscathed save for a nasty scratch on his chest.

“Dirty rogues using sneak attacks. I wish I could bring them back so I could kill them again.” Rohan snarls and I’d have to agree, the cowards attacked when we were fully focused on tracking our mate.

“Glad to know they’re gone though, they were too close to our mate.” I comment, gaining a sound of agreement from him as we start running again.

We only need to run for about ten minutes before we come to stop at the edge of the trees where a small garden replaces it, with eight feet high wooden fences surrounding it on both sides that connect to the neighbors next door. Then right in front of us across the well trimmed lawn is an average sized one floor house. The back door is ajar and the smell of food comes from inside, mixed with the scent of our mate. Our mate smells like roses and chocolate, the scent making me gulp to stop myself from drooling.

A soft humming can be heard vaguely from inside, slowly but surely growing closer.

The world seems to freeze for a second as I lay my eyes on her. Her 5’7 frame appears from the doorway carrying a laundry basket full of clothes and she ends up using her voluptuous hips to open the door wider for her to pass through. Her chocolate brown hair is tumbling down in loose, wild curls to the end of her back where her perfectly round ass takes over. The green in her hazel eyes seem to sparkle as she’s humming some song happily to herself.

She casually makes her way through the yard to start hanging her clothes on two clothing lines hung up between the wooden fences. Reaching down she pulls up a light pink sweatshirt and has to stand on her tiptoes to reach high enough to hang it on the line. While doing so her white t-shirt slides up a little, just enough to show a teasing amount of the smooth, somewhat tan skin on her stomach. Her waist is slim in comparison to her breasts, straining against the shirt to be set free. I am utterly in awe of the beautiful creature in front of me.

“Our mate.” Rohan mutters dreamily.

“Our queen.” I agree.

Sophie's POV After finishing yet another day of online lectures I get ready to do some chores around the house. Starting off I prepare the ribs I’m making for dinner and shove them into the preheated oven. Humming to a song by The Chainsmokers I then head to the washroom where I take all my clothes from the washing machine and pile them in the laundry basket. I started the washing machine during lunch to make sure it would be finished by now, I don’t want to leave my clothes to dry out overnight. Grabbing the basket I head for the back door in the kitchen to reach the garden, using my hip to push the door open since I need both my arms to not drop the heavy laundry. I continue singing quietly to myself, knowing fully well I’ve probably messed up half the lyrics by now, though not caring at all. I put the basket down and start hanging my clothes out to dry. There’s a lot of clothes since it’s been a little over two weeks since I last did my laundry. Lately there’s been so many exams

Sophie's POV “Is this some thing where you’ve decided to follow me until you repay me for helping you or something? Because in that case there’s no need. Shoo!” I say, gesturing to the open door but they flop down on their furry butts and look at me in a way that almost makes me believe they’re amused. Suddenly I start to smell burnt meat and I turn to the oven where I find my dinner is getting overcooked. With a yelp I hurry over and turn off the heat, grabbing some mitts to get the food out and place it on the stove to cool. Looking over the rib rack I find it’s not too bad after all, the smell having made it seem worse than it was. It might be a bit dry but still perfectly edible. Turning back to the dogs watching me I place a hand on my hip as I study them studying me. “If you want to stay for a bit I guess you’re welcome, there’s no one but me here anyway. Though if you poop inside I’ll throw you out head first, deal?” I ask, gwaffing barks is my reply which I take as a yes,

Sophie's POV Jumping into my Ford Explorer from 2010 I start the engine and back out of the driveway. My house is at the edge of a small neighborhood just outside of Missoula so it takes me about 20 minutes to drive to my usual Walmart. Even though there are convenience stores closer I always choose this one. On my way I drive past the university where I study, though I have most courses online right now I used to go to uni almost daily for lectures. Pulling up in the parking lot I choose a parking spot as close to the entrance as possible, knowing I’ll be carrying a whole lot of bags to the car. After checking the car is locked behind me I grab a cart and head inside the store, taking my time in each section. By the time I head for the register the entire cart is filled to the brim with food, a lot of meat in particular, for my guests should they stay. I don’t really know anything about dogs so I decided that before I manage to read up I’ll just make them normal meat for now or I

Sophie's POV With a sigh I pull up on the driveway and turn the engine off. Opening the trunk I grab the first three bags before heading to the door, struggling to open it with the heavy bags weighing my arms down. About half a minute of struggling later I manage to open the door and leave it wide open as I enter. I don’t even bother removing my shoes as I head to the kitchen where I dump the groceries on the countertop. A shuffling sound is heard behind me and I turn around to find Florence and Barton appearing from the open back door. I smile at them, honestly happy they decided to stay. Maybe they’ll help me not to feel so alone here by myself and keep me entertained with something other than studies. I make four trips in total until all the groceries are inside and I sigh in relief as I lean against the counters to catch my breath. My arms are aching. I should probably get a gym membership somewhere and do something about my weak muscles but I don’t have any energy to commit to

Rohan’s POV A soft snoring wakes me up from my late night nap and I stretch before looking around. Seems like both me and Rylan fell asleep waiting for our mate to finish her homework and now it’s well past 2am. Sophie’s head is leaning on her arms covering the dozens of notes and books spread out around her. Despite her peaceful sleeping face I can’t imagine it being comfortable sleeping in that position. Taking a risk I change back into human form and less than 30 seconds later I’m left stark naked in the middle of the living room. “Rohan, what the hell are you doing?” Rylan questions scoldingly, looking nervously at our mate as if she would wake up right this second. Ignoring my brother I place my arms around our mate and lift her up bridal style with her head rolling to lean against my shoulder. My body is humming pleasantly at the contact as I carry her to her bedroom, followed closely by Rylan who’s grumbling to himself. I gently put Sophie down on the bed and place the cov

Sophie's POV “Ugh!” I huff as another piece of clothing hits me smack in the face. It’s been less than a minute after I told Mia I’ve been asked on a date and she’s already wreaking havoc in my closet. To be honest I didn’t even know I had this much clothes until it’s all spread out to cover my room. I already dread cleaning this up later. “Mia, you didn’t let me finish. I’m not even sure I’m going.” I explain, only for my best friend's head to turn around so fast I fear she may have gotten a whiplash. “What do you mean you’re not going? Of course you are! You’re so far behind in the dating program, at this rate you’re not gonna get married ‘til you’re like 50.” She says so seriously you’d think we’re talking about a plan to murder the president. I roll my eyes and take a second to study my blond friend. She’s super model skinny and always wearing the latest trends, being a fashion major and all. What people can’t tell just from looking at her is that regarding love and fashion
