Chapter 35: Siblings Talk [ Part 1 ]

As Sherly sank into the plush cushions of her living room sofa, her mind raced with a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. She stared at the ground as she listened in silence as her brothers continued to ask her a lot of questions about her mysterious date, their voices a relentless barrage of interrogation.

She couldn't answer them.

But as they pressed her for answers about George—his whereabouts, his occupation, his intentions—Sherly found herself at a loss. Aside from knowing him to be part of the mafia, she knows nothing at all. She realized with a sinking feeling that she knew next to nothing about the man she had spent the day with, the man she felt secure with; aside from the fleeting connection they had shared during their time together, she knew nothing at all.

"I don't know," she admitted quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. It was as if she wanted to cry. "I don't know anything about him." She then bit her lower lip, trying to calm herself.
